Features

Kenwood Dash Cam Hardwire Kit: The Kenwood CA-DR1030 hardwire kit supplies constant power to a Kenwood DRV-A series dash cam (such as the DRV-A310W, DRV-A501WDP, DRV-A601WDP, and DRV-A700WDP). By connecting the CA-DR1030 to a compatible Kenwood DRV-A series dash cam, you can supply power to the dash cam even when your vehicle's engine is off and extend the time of the dash cam's "parked monitoring" feature up to a maximum of 24 hours (depending on the condition of your vehicle's battery and operating environment).

  • The miniUSB connector of the CA-DR1030 plugs into the miniUSB jack of your compatible Kenwood DRV-A series dash cam.
  • The power wire (red) will connect to your fuse box using one of three included fuse taps (rated at 2A).
  • The ground wire (black) should be connected to bare metal of the vehicle.

Note: The CA-DR1030 hardwire kit imposes a constant load on your vehicle's battery in order to power a compatible Kenwood dash cam while your vehicle's engine is off. Make sure to drive your vehicle regularly (every two days) to keep the battery charged. If you do not drive your vehicle for more than two days, you should turn off the dash cam to prevent your battery from draining.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
Can the hard wired kit still allow the camera to turn on automatically with the vehicle instead of only either being in parking mode or manually on/off? I'd to hide the cables but I don't want the constant battery drain.
[ Shawn  Aug 31, 2022 ]

A
This sweet Kenwood CA-DR1030 has a maximum time of 24 hours on parking mode, Shawn. You will need to use the manual on/off button for parking times longer than that as Kenwood does make a note this has a constant drain as you mentioned being concerned about. Kenwood mentions specifically if you do not drive your vehicle for more than two days, you should turn off the dash cam with the manual on/off to prevent your battery from draining. We do recommend hiding the power kit cables for a nice clean install, and the on/off button is the best way to go if you are concerned about battery drain or will park the car for a few days at a time.

Q
Will this hardware kit work with the DRV410?
[ Paul  Jul 26, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
This will not work as a replacement hardwire kit for the DRV410. Kenwood does offer a replacement hardwire kit for the DRV410: https://store.kenwoodusa.com/catalog.php?id=5781

Q
Do I really need Kenwood CA-DR1030, my auxiliary power outlet is a constant 12v even with car off?
[ manny  Aug 25, 2020 ]

A
No. If your auxiliary outlet is constant then you will always have power to the camera which is what this is for constant power. Mine doesn't have constant power so I needed this kit so I could have constant power.
[ Arionne  Aug 26, 2020 ]
A
You can use this kit if you don't want to use the power outlet. Its nice if you want to hide the power wires.
[ RICHARD  Aug 25, 2020 ]
A
You need to have 6volt power to your unit. You can't hard wire directly from 12 v without the power adapter
[ FRED  Aug 25, 2020 ]
A
It's not necessary no. It's good if you want to hide the cable though.
[ William  Aug 25, 2020 ]
Q
What is the cutoff voltage of this cable so it does not drain the vehicle's battery?

Crutchfield, can you confirm you answer as In the Quick Start Guide for DRV-A601W, in Parking Mode section it says: "In parking mode, the device will stay in a standby mode in conjunction with our hardwire kit CA-DR1030(optional accessory). It can detect an impact above the normal level, (snip).....Also the hardwire kit has an automatic power cutoff function. When the device detects that the car battery is below a certain level, it will cut off power to prevent draining the battery." No where in the manual does Kenwood provide the cutoff voltage...What's the voltage for 'certain level'?
[ Zak  Jun 16, 2020 ]
A
There is not a cutoff voltage. The CA-DR1030 hardwire kit imposes a constant load on your vehicle's battery in order to power a compatible Kenwood dash cam while your vehicle's engine is off. Make sure to drive your vehicle regularly (every two days) to keep the battery charged. If you do not drive your vehicle for more than two days, you should turn off the dash cam to prevent your battery from draining.
