Empower your speakers

Our customers often tell us that Kenwood makes rugged amplifiers that bring superior sound quality along with reliable performance. Kenwood's KAC-5207 2-channel amplifier can deliver a true 70 watts RMS per channel to your full-range speakers — you'll hear all the tonal color, impact, and musical detail you've been missing, from the punch of the rhythm section to the shiver induced by your favorite singer's voice.

Works for bass too

You can also use this versatile amp to power a subwoofer with up to 170 watts RMS in mono mode, with a built-in low-pass filter that allows you to send only bass below 80 Hz to your sub. You'll also find speaker-level inputs with signal sensing turn-on, so you can put this amp to work in just about any kind of system. The cast-aluminum heat sink gets rid of heat efficiently when you're cranking the volume.

CTA-2006 Compliant: CTA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. CTA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). Using CTA-2006 criteria, the Kenwood KAC-5207 is rated at 70 watts RMS x 2 channels with an 80 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CTA-2006 conditions) is 100 dB.

2-Ohm Stable: The amplifier can support a 2-ohm load in stereo; the 2-ohm power output is 85 watts RMS x 2 channels.

Bridgeable: This two-channel amplifier can be bridged to a 4-ohm mono load; the bridged output is 170 watts x 1 channel RMS.

Cast Aluminum Heat Sink: The KAC-5207 utilizes a cast aluminum heat sink design to ensure the amplifier stays cool.

Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events:

  • speaker wire short-circuits
  • speaker output contacts ground
  • unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output
  • the amp overheats

Power Indicator: When the amplifier is turned on the Power indicator (on top of the amp) lights up. This indicator turns off with the amplifier, and will turn off if the amplifier goes into protect mode.

Auto Turn-on: When using a speaker level input, the amp will turn on automatically when it senses the input signal.

Controls

Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the KAC-5207 features an adjustable gain control; 0.2-5.0 volts line level (RCA) and 4.0-12.0 volts speaker level.

Low Pass Crossover: The amplifier has a fixed 80Hz low-pass filter with a slope of 18dB per octave. The filter can be turned On or Off as needed.

Connections

Power Connections: The power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are 0.425" wide screw terminals. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended. Minimum 10 gauge wire is required for power and ground. A 25-amp fuse should be placed on the power wire within 18" of the battery terminal.

Speaker Outputs: The two pair of speaker outputs are 0.315" wide screw terminals. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are also recommended for the speaker wires.

Note: The speaker output terminals can be used in stereo or bridged mode.

Line Level Input: The line input is a pair of stereo RCA jacks.

Speaker Level Input: A 9" wiring harness is included for the speaker level input.

Fuse: The amplifier uses a 25-amp ATO blade-type fuse.

8 gauge will work. I used 6 gauge on mine just in case I ever decided to replace amp in the future.
[ C  Aug 13, 2020 ]
A
The manufacturer says to use 10 gauge

Would work bridged on one Alpine W12S4
[ C  Aug 13, 2020 ]
A
Yes it can
[ Nathanial  Aug 05, 2020 ]
A
Yes it will but wont have enough power to get you the thump you are supposed to from a 12
[ Cliff  Aug 05, 2020 ]
Q
You sold the wiring or adapter to put this amplifier in tiguan 2009?
[ Jesus  Jun 18, 2020 ]

A
No, you will needed a amp wiring kit to in stall a amp that is no adapter to wire the amp.
[ Richard  Jun 18, 2020 ]
A
For most vehicles the amp wiring kits are Universal, unless you have some sort of integrated amplifier like a Bose system in which it could possibly require rewiring and replacing some of the systems speakers as well.
[ Isaac  Jun 18, 2020 ]
Q
Can I use this amp for a sub or is it only for speakers? I want to use it for my stock amp in my 2008 eclipse Spyder instead of stock amp

A
I have it bridged for one Alpine W10S4 works perfect.
[ C  Aug 13, 2020 ]
A
I used it for my 10 inch sub and it worked just fine
[ Cliff  Jun 03, 2020 ]
A
Yes, you can. It's 70W RMS @ 4 ohms (85W @ 2 ohms) per channel or 170W RMS bridged. It has a 80Hz low pass filter as well. It's not the most powerful amp in the world nor does it have a ton of features, but it does a decent job with my single 10" dual voice coil sub.
[ Nicholas  Jun 02, 2020 ]
A
Yes
[ John  Jun 02, 2020 ]
A
Yes you can. It will give you 170 watts rms @ 4ohm load only! Bridge both channels together and select the low pass filter, just make sure the sub you are using is a single 4ohm or dual 8ohm so you have a 4ohm load at the amp.
[ Mark  Jun 02, 2020 ]
Q
I bought a Kenwood kac-5207 amplifier and it doesn't have a gain dial. How do I tune it?
[ Brevin  Apr 21, 2020 ]
5 answers
A
Yes, it has a gain adjustment and a on off switch for a low pass filter. If you run the speaker inputs I would turn it to the low position, if your running the line inputs probably around the middle. You will know if it turned too high if you get distortion. Very simple adjustment you will hear when it's correct.
[ John  Apr 21, 2020 ]
A
The amplifier has a gain dial. It is labeled "input sensitivity".
[ Maura  Apr 21, 2020 ]
A
In fact it does, the input sensitivity, otherwise more commonly known as gain, would be the dial you're looking for.
[ Jim  Apr 21, 2020 ]
A
The input sensitivity dial on the left of the red and white RCA cable inputs is the same as a gain.
[ Joshua  Apr 21, 2020 ]
A
You can with make adjustments on the side panel. Kenwood sells a cable remote you can add to it or is you have a Kenwood stereo unit you can adjust it from there. It just has to be a new enough unit to be compatible. Look on Kenwoods website. Thanks Mike M Dallas TX.

Q
Does this amp have a remote turn on connection I can wire to an external switch?
[ Vance  Apr 24, 2018 ]

A
Yes it does
[ C  Aug 13, 2020 ]
A
If your radio doesn't have 12v power out when you turn it on, you can use a external switch to supply the amp with power.
[ robert  May 03, 2018 ]
Q
can I add a sub woofer to this amp?
[ Jeffrey  Apr 17, 2017 ]
2 answers
A
I have it bridged on one ten inch Alpine W10S4 works perfect.
[ C  Aug 13, 2020 ]
A
This amp can be bridged to one channel and it outputs 170 watts RMS and is 4 ohm stable. There are subwoofers that are 4 ohms and can work with this power. Feel free to call an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on a matching subwoofer. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
