Features

Dimensions: Depth with RCA plugs connected to Aux input is 5.729".

Auxiliary Input: This switching unit has a stereo RCA Aux input which can be connected to any source unit with pre-amp level outputs.

Switching: This unit allows you to connect two Kenwood changers (CD or MD) and an Auxiliary source unit to a compatible Kenwood car receiver with CD changer control.

Adapts Older Changers to New Changer Controllers: This item and item 113CADS100 are required to adapt an old Kenwood changer with a square input plug to a 1999, or newer, model year head unit. If you have a changer with a round connection but no "O-N" switch, this unit will be needed to control the changer with a 1999, or newer, model year head unit.

Wired Controller: The wired controller connects to the switching unit, allowing you to switch between disc changers 1 and 2. Note: If you connect a head unit which can switch between disc changers 1 and 2 (Groups B/C/D), the controller does not need to be connected. If it is connected, the disc changer may not work properly.

Compatibility

Note: This switching unit is really designed to work with newer Kenwood car receivers, but it can be used with some of the older models.

Changer Compatibility: This unit was not designed to be connected directly to a CD changer that was manufactured and sold before 1994. If you want to control the KDC-C600, KDC-C800, KDC-601 or KDC-401, you will need the CA-DS100 (113CADS100) adapter. The KDC-C200, KDC-C300, KDC-C301, KDC-C400, KDC-C100, KDC-C302, KDC-C205, KDC-C705 and CD changers manufactured by other companies will not work with this switching unit.

Receiver Compatibility: The switching unit functions differently, depending on what type of car receiver you are going to connect. Find out which of the following groups your car receiver belongs to:

  • Group A: This group covers car receivers with disc changer control, where the source selection does not allow you to switch the disc changer between 1 and 2.
  • Group B: This group covers car receivers with disc changer control, where the source selection allows you to switch between 1 and 2, where the manual instructs you to set the O-N switch on the disc changer to "O", or where the O-N switch operation is not covered.
  • Group C: This group covers car receivers with disc changer control, where the source selection allows you to switch between 1 and 2 or where the manual instructs you to set the O-N switch on the disc changer to "N".
  • Group D: This group covers car receivers released on the market in or after 1999, where the manual covers Aux Mode under source selection.

O-N Switch: The setting of this switch depends on the type of car receiver you are going to connect.

  • If the unit you are connecting belongs to Group A or Group B, set the O-N Switch to the "O" position. Note: If you move the switch to the "N" position, the switching unit will become inoperable.
  • If the unit you are connecting belongs to Group C or Group D, set the O-N Switch to the "N" position. Note: If you move the switch to the "O" position, then even if you have connected a disc changer supporting CD text, the CD text and the disc name (DNPS) will fail to be displayed on the car receiver. If the changer does not have an O-N switch, you will not be able to use the disc name (DNPS) function.

Auxiliary Input Switch: The setting of this switch depends on the type of car receiver you are going to connect.

  • If your car receiver belongs to Group A, B or C, you will need to physically set the Aux switch to the "On" position if you wish to listen to the Auxiliary source. If you want to listen to one of the changers, you will need to set the Aux switch to the "Off" position.
  • If your car receiver belongs to Group D, you can leave the Aux switch in the "On" position at all times. "AUX" will appear as one of the choices in your source selections. If you move the Aux switch to the "Off" position, "AUX" will not appear in your source selections.

Inputs/Outputs and Controls

  • To Controller: connects to the wired control unit, allowing you to switch between disc changers 1 and 2. Note: If you connect a head unit which can switch between disc changers 1 and 2 (Groups B/C/D), the controller does not need to be connected. If it is connected, the disc changer may not work properly.
  • To changer 1: connects to a Kenwood CD or MD changer
  • To changer 2: connects to a Kenwood CD or MD changer
