About the Kenwood KDC-205
The Kenwood KDC-205 CD receiver uses MOSFET power (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4) to deliver big, powerful sound, and offers a theft-deterring detachable faceplate for your peace of mind. It'll play CD-Rs and CD-RWs along with your regular discs, so bring some of your favorite custom mixes for the daily commute.
You'll get all your tunes sounding great with System Q Sound Control's six preset tone curves ("Rock," "Top 40," "Jazz," "Easy," "Pops," and "Flat") and 3-band equalizer. Source tone memory assigns a separate System Q curve to AM, FM, and CD, so you don't have to change the tone settings each time you switch sources.
The Mobile Preset function adjusts the KDC-205's output for the best possible sound from the speakers in your car. If you want to add big bass, a set of preamp outputs stands ready to send signal to an amp/subwoofer setup.

Product Research
Quad 1-Bit D-A Converters: The KDC-205 features Integrated Quad 1-Bit Digital-to-Analog converters for superb CD sound. Four D-A converters, two for each channel, improve playback sound quality, including musical detail and resolution. Using 2 converters for each channel reduces distortion by half.
System Q Sound Control: 6 EQ curves are preset into memory, allowing you to recall the best preset EQ curve for different types of music. The preset curves are named "Rock", "Top 40", "Pops", "Jazz", "Easy" and "Flat". Each preset has its own bass, middle, and treble level settings.
Mobile Preset: The Mobile Preset function tailors the System Q Sound Control settings according to the type of speakers in your vehicle. You may select a Mobile Preset setting of "SP-F" (off), "SP-O" (for OEM factory speaker systems), "SP-6" (for systems with 6" and 6" x 9" speakers) or "SP-5" (for systems with 4" and 5" speakers).
3-Band Equalizer: You can independently adjust the level of three audio bands from -10dB to +10dB: Bass (100Hz), Midrange (1kHz) and Treble (10kHz).
Source Tone Memory: This feature allows you to store bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (CD, FM, AM).
CR-2 Tuner: This unit uses Kenwood's CR-2 tuner provides high signal strength for clear radio reception. The tuner incorporates an Automatic Noise Reduction Circuit (ANRC), along with the Clean Reception System Circuit (CRSC), for improved rejection of distortion due to multi-path. You can choose one of three tuning modes: Auto 1 (seek tuning), Auto 2 (cycles through and tunes the selected band's preset stations only with each button press), or Manual.
Clean Reception System Circuit (CRSC): This circuit controls multi-path distortion by reducing stereo separation. As stereo separation is reduced, multi-path has less effect on the radio signal, improving reception in areas with tall buildings and mountains. The CRSC feature can be turned on or off.
Smooth Volume Return: The attenuator immediately lowers the volume by a preset level. Smooth Volume Return gradually increases the volume to the original level when the ATT button is pressed a second time, eliminating a jarring change in volume.
Disabled System Indicator: A red indicator will blink on the unit after the faceplate is removed, warning potential thieves. This feature can be turned On or Off.
Faceplate Finish: The faceplate and trim ring feature a metallic gray finish.Display: The KDC-205 has a negative LCD display with white 7-segment characters on a blue background.
Dual Information Display: When in the Tuner mode, you can choose to display the clock at the same time as the frequency of the tuned station. In the CD mode, the track information is displayed, and you can switch between the elapsed time of the track and the clock display.
Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the unit is in Standby mode, the face/button illumination is "keyed". In addition, while the unit is in Standby mode, the Clock Display can be turned on or off using the CLK button. When the Clock Display is turned on and the unit is in Standby mode, the Clock Display is also "keyed". Pressing and holding the Source (SRC) button turns the unit off completely.
