I would say no. Sound is good for its size when it's in the cab with you. I think you would be disappointed with it in the trunk.

The simplest way to install this would be to tap its speaker level inputs into the stock wiring while other ways would use active line output converters or even sound processors to help clear up and fine tune the sound from it. The sub has line level and speaker level inputs. If you have a factory radio that uses an external amp you may need to connect the sub to the amp output, your speakers. If you have an aftermarket radio, using line level to the amp, I would use rca Y cables and connect the sub and amp at line level.

I was unable to find input specifications for this unit so I don't know for certain but, it would be standard practice to make the audio inputs high impedance so as to not load down the car's power amp and continue to deliver that power directly to the speakers. Since the speaker leads in the car are themselves low impedance there is no need to have the audio inputs to the subwoofer shielded. Hooking it up to the rear speakers should be fine as long as the program material in them is the same as the front i.e you are not running a 5.1 surround sound system. If you are doing something special and using the rear speakers as "effects" then you'll need to hook the audio inputs to the front speakers.

The input impedance of this unit is so high it does not affect your head unit.

I put mine under the passenger seat of my Tacoma without too much drama but always check to make sure the seat clears to slide back and forth without catching. I had to raise my seats up slightly to clear.

Mine fits just right under the drivers bucket seat on an '03 Ford Ranger.

I never installed one of these before putting it in my 2007 Vette, and I ran into a couple of questions, and they helped me right over the phone. No problem. Went smooth as glass. Sounds great.

I'm not sure what your question is. If it fits under the seat it should be pretty much out of sight and not affect the appearance. Be sure that there is some clearance between the speaker and the seat, though.

The sub's remote allows adjustment of low pass with a range of 50-125. This does not affect the frequencies delivered to other speakers. You would need to do that separately. In my application, I've used my head unit to adjust the frequencies that it delivers from all sources and then adjust the sub for both frequency and volume. That has worked well for me.

Chris, I honestly don't know thr answer to your question. A Crutchfield technician would be better versed in explaining that aspect of this product. What I can tell you is that I absolutely love the performance of this powered sub-woofer in my car, which is a 54-year-old British two seat roadster, a Triumph TR4A. Mounted vertically directly behind the drivers seat, it gives me such a jolt in the back that not only do I feel it, but I can clearly hear bass notes even at 70 mph with the top down! Getting that kind of sound in such a small package is practically unheard of. Hope that helps.

Under seat install is much better than trunk.

It is not very loud. I am using it in a Chevy Colorado, with the Bose system. It does add some lower bass than the factory system but is barely audible. In my opinion it would not be heard in a trunk.

Not sure what vehicle you have, but for what this product is, it will do better in the passenger compartment. Personally i do not believe it has enough power to be in a trunk. Mine is under back seat in a pickup and does really well.

It comes with long cables terminated for the sub, yes...but ...you are likely to need an adaptor to get from whatever output plugs there are on the head radio unit you have, or in my case we soldered the correct ends onto it.

I bought 2 of these, 1 for myself, and 1 for my daughter.mine I wired using the line level speaker wires, and they come included. If wiring this method, it will have all you need. Now hers was going to be hooked up to the head unit with the RCA sub out, and I purchased her a set of monster cable RCA cables, which were not included. Length will be determined by where you place the sub, etc, but to use your RCA sub out, I would get a set of patch cables. Hope this helps, and we both love our subs.

I think you should be okay with less than an inch of clearance since a lot of the base comes from the case against the frame of the car. This is meant to go in a small space. I have really liked this unit.

As long as the Unit fits under your seat it should be fine. The speaker is slightly recessed inside the box as it is.

not in a mini but 4 door f350, adds bass but not hard thump, we went with 2 units under rear seat for a little more, would recommend if not trying to rattle the windows, kicker in another truck seems a little deeper bass with same set up

A rep at Crutchfield helped me hook the power to the sub using blade fuse adapters to the windshield wiper fuse. As soon as you start your car, or the key is in the on position, power is applied to the sub, and like wise removed when you turn the key off. This worked for my 2009 Ford Ranger but your car maybe wired differently, so be sure to ask for an installation tech (?). They're very friendly and knowledgeable. Hope this helps.

I didn't install this myself but, after install the amp knew to turn itself on and off when the car was turned on and off. I'm assuming that's the responsability of one of the wires that comes with a standard wiring harness. Not sure about technical side of how to make that happen, but the answer is yes...the amp will do that if installed correctly.

I think it would work for you. It puts out a surprising amount of audible bass. I have it in a 2014 Spark EV and it will vibrate the rearview mirror. It makes the paltry 4" speakers in the car bearable. That said, the driver is small so don't expect it to thump like a 1000 watt 12" subwoffer in a large bandpass box. It will add some noticeable bass to your 6.5" speakers.

Tyler, Great question. I've bought two of these units, for different vehicles, so here's what I can tell you: I put the first one in my 2002 Ford Excursion. It noticeably increased and improved the bass. I too was not looking for a "thumper," but definitely an improvement over not having it. However, with a vehicle that big, I decided two of them would work better. Both were placed under the center seat. I was very pleased with the sound I got. Primarily listen to classic rock, some country and also some gospel/religious music. The latter being mostly live recordings. For all of the above, the sound was dramatically better than stock, but I replaced the head unit and all the stock pieces as well. I ended up selling that one in a moment of weakness and really miss my big SUV. I also have a 2003 Corvette coupe. I replaced the factory setup in it just recently. I used one of these subs mounted along the back wall of the luggage area. In a vehicle that size, one unit seems to be plenty enough. Again, I want to hear, and to a slight degree, feel the bass. But I did not want the thumping or vibration commonly heard amongst people half my age (or less). Overall, I'm very pleased with the product and found installation to be easy. Hope this helps!

Hey Tyler - I have a 2016 Santa Fe with a subwoofer under each front seat. This Kenwood is the best choice if you have limited space and need to fill that low end void. This particular unit is a bit on the "punchy" side, meaning it hits the mid-bass very well but struggles to find the very bottom of the frequency spectrum. That's a small gripe - this little guy definitely makes the music much more enjoyable and it's got a very handy remote control that should let you tune it to fit your taste. Good luck and enjoy!

I run a similar setup in a convertible with this powered subwoofer due to space constraints. It is mounted under the passenger seat. Even with the top down, I have found this unit provides ample bass to fill out lower frequencies that most amplified 6.5" speakers lack. It is fair to describe the sound quality as balanced, but there are certainly more expensive units that perform better. Overall, it is excellent value for tight applications or cabin fill.

No, not with this one. I installed this amp/sub in my 2014 Ford Focus and no battery modification was needed. I forget the wattage of the amp, but relative to many amps it was quite small. This amp/sub combo is one of the best compact, and low-power amp/subs available. The bass it puts out is tight and punchy...very little boom or rumble...yet you disn't ask about it so I won't ramble on about all that.

Personally, I've never heard or seen of a recommendation to increase battery capacity for any aftermarket components. Batteries are used to start the vehicle. Once it is running, power comes from the alternator. The only problem with the battery is if the alternator goes bad, subsequently not providing enough charge to power all accessories, run the vehicle and recharge the battery, you will eventually exhaust the battery. Having said that, I have one of these in a Ford Excursion diesel. You'd never see the impact on that vehicle in terms of electricity. I put the newest one in my Corvette, no problems. I have different components but with the same power draw installed in my HD Ultra Classic, no problems. So, if a motorcycle can handle the power requirements of these pieces, I cannot see why any car would have a problem with this unit. Remember, this sub will enhance bass output and definitely improve the sound of music in your vehicle. However, this isn't going to produce the obnoxious thundering booms so many kids do these days. But it will definitely enhance my classic rock music collection and really wakes up "Dazed and Confused."

Yes I would secure it. I installed this in a jeep wrangler and I actually used adhesive velcro strips as I wanted to be able to remove or move the subwoofer as there is very little trunk space. The Velcro works greats and gives me good flexibility when I need to use the trunk. The unit comes with brackets and can also be secured with screws but the velcro I used certainly is strong enough to retain the unit. Hope this helps.

My husband put mine in the trunk, up against the rear seat without any method of securing it. I have a Cadillac CTS and haven't had any issues with the subwoofer sliding, or shifting.

Velcro tape strips worked great

You want to secure it as well as possible for both sliding and more importantly, sound. Subwoofers that are not mounted properly will disperse the sound waves into distortion which gives you no chance at good bass. This little guy, when mounted properly under the seat, gives a nice punch when it's tuned correctly. It's not going to get to the very low notes - need a larger enclosure for that. But it certainly fills the gaping hole in bass that the factory speakers simply can't fill. I would recommend this product to anyone who has a tight space to work with and it's a good value for the price. FYI - I'm a former national "crank it up" champion so this advise isn't coming from just any random customer. Good luck!

In a 2006 Camry XLE, there was no need to secure the subwoofer because it was such a tight fit that I had to remove the seat, set the subwoofer in place, then bolt the seat back over the subwoofer with the steel crossmembers of the seat pressing against the subwoofer housing. There is almost no way for it to slide around under there. All that said, if the seat was not physically pressing against the subwoofer, I would have secured it with straps because I think it is light enough and the bottom is not rough or "grippy" enough to stay in place under heavy acceleration/cornering/braking without sliding around under the seat. Not asked, but opinion offered here: great sound, especially for the price. We are very happy with our purchase.

Really depends on the application. I have mine located under the front passenger seat - there is no rear seat to speak of so the unit does not slide around and I do not have it fastened down. If you have lots of room under a seat or are placing it in the rear cargo area of a SUV, etc. you probably will want to fasten it. According to page 7 in the Kenwood instruction manual the KSC-SW11 will work without the remote connected. Text from page 7: "The sound is output even when the remote control unit is not connected, but the operations described in this section are not available. In this case, the volume, cut-off frequency and phase are set to the predetermined default conditions, with which the cut-off frequency is 125 Hz and the phase is 0º (positive)."

I just set the unit controls to a mid range, and then use the head unit controls to adjust. I think that you need the unit controls set at something, and the head only adjusts from zero to that setting. I like it, it is in the cab of a diesel puller motor home, and it makes all the difference.

I would think what you are suggesting would work but one thing to consider, it is much easier to fine tune your subwoofer from the hand held remote that going into the features on the deck. I did the same thing on my home audio system. I turned off my subwoofer controls on my receiver and did all my fine turning on the subwoofer itself. Using the hand held remote lets you dial in the cross over and volume very easily while listening to the music to optimize your sound and lets you make small corrections as needed to make it perfect. I wired mine to the center console in my truck. Out of the way but always in hands reach when I need it. Dean

Obviously different head units have different controls. Mine is mated to a Kenwood head unit with both tone controls and an equalizer. However, there are additional adjustments to the subwoofer that only the remote allows you to do. Specifically, you can adjust the volume to get the desired level of bass without resetting your head unit. In my case 95% of what I listen to are CDs copied to a USB drive. Sound levels vary from disc to disc, as do bass levels. Having the remote at my fingertips enables me to adjust as desired. Another benefit of having the remote visible is this: my head unit has one in line fuse. However, it became necessary to add extra in-line fuses, acting as a relay, between the subwoofer, amplifier and head unit. When one of those relays (fuses) blows, the remote control for the sub doesn't light up. That makes diagnosis easy, as well as the fix. In my case, I found that there is sufficient fluctuation in my truck's power output to warrant adding those fused relays. Better safe than sorry. Easy to do and cheap protection. Hopefully this answers your question. I say use the remote and install it in an easily accessible location. Mine is attached to the console on my Excursion, next to the drivers seat. You to adjust this setting. Volume affects only the volume of the subwoofer. Frequency adjusts the crossover only, it has nothing to do with volume. There is no "max" for frequency, that only sets the wavelength of notes that come from the sub versus other speakers in the vehicle.

I purchased the refurbished unit 6 months ago. It looked brand new and sounds great, no issues.

I have purchased several refurbished kenwood products over the years from amps, subs, powered subs and stereos. They have all looked new and have had ZERO issues. In fact that's how I prefer to buy to save some of my hard earned money.

Ive bought tons of refurbished equipment with great results. Refurbished is when something just wasnt quite right( capacitor, fuse, some other electronic component inside a unit) and it goes back to the factory for inspection, repair and testing. Most of the time you can return it if you have problems regardless with Crutchfield.

Sales is really good at setting up what you're buying with your specific car, if your factory stereo supplies a power antenna / amp signal, rca outputs/ or use speaker connections for the input side you should be OK,but again. Crutchfield is the one to ask. I had an aftermarket stereo, so it was the setup for me.
