Small enclosure

The enclosure is made to fit into tight spaces, with a depth of only 7-1/4". It'll fit behind truck seats and in tight trunks, making use of the empty space for great bass in a small package.

Powerful amplification

The KAC-5207 Class AB amplifier delivers 170 watts RMS in single-channel mode to the enclosure, while its built-in low-pass filter sends only the low frequencies to the 12" sub. You'll finally be able to feel those low-frequencies that were missing from your vehicle's sound system..

I bought this product and the sub blew. Bought it again and now the amp blows the fuse everytime I insert it. Is this among not strong enough to power the sub in a bridged configuration? Some help me.

Exceeded expectations

20 yo son said "you're going to be disappointed". After install, we were both impressed. It's clearly not the very best, but for a pickup with a noisy diesel engine and limited room it just might be the very best compromise for the space and the price.

Pros: Straightforward install. As advertised. Arrived on time. Price in my budget.

Cons: None.

I need a sub-woofer for my Kenwood system that I'm relocating to my Suburban. The sub pictured is nice looking and would fit nicely, however... I've already blown through two of them already and don't plan on doing a third. I plan on staying with Kenwood as I have since 1971, but not that sub pictured.

Pros: Great sound when it works.

Cons: Heartbreaking when it doesn't.

Great sub and box but the amp falls really short

juan from Sioux Falls, SD on 7/25/2017

Great sounding bass when the amp is working right. The amp likes to cut out if your listening to music at a louder volume level due to over heating and it's in a nice open location under the rear seat of my 2005 f350 super duty. Sorry, but i will have to say that i wouldn't buy this package as it is sold today and all i ever buy is kenwood audio for my cars and trucks. Plus the amp pictured in the kit must have been enlarged a bit because it's physical size isn't even close to what is pictured and is so misleading. Crutchfield should be ashamed of it's self for misleading their loyal customers that choices them over going to other audio dealers.

Pros: Awesome bass when it's working. The sub and sub box is quality stuff.

Cons: Amp is just to small to handle the 12" sub. Over heats way to easy.

Because of Juan's helpful review, we had one of our talented photographers, Martyn, reshoot the amplifier to show a more accurate scale for our presentation. Also, the amplifier and sub box dimensions are posted in the "Overview" section of our online presentation for this Kenwood package.

    • Height: 2.24"
    • Depth: 6.648"
  • CTA-2006 Compliant: CTA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. CTA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). Using CTA-2006 criteria, the Kenwood KAC-5207 is rated at 70 watts RMS x 2 channels with an 80 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CTA-2006 conditions) is 100 dB.

Customer Q&A

Q
Is this a good set up for a g35 coupe? I currently have a Bose system in it and was wondering if this would be an upgrade and make a difference in quality compared to the Bose?
[ Edward  Jul 14, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
Hi Edward! Adding some extra bass to your system will improve your sound quality tremendously. The Kenwood P-W121B package would be a great addition, and will add a fuller low-end, without being overpowering to the rest of your system. Feel free to chat with an Advisor online, or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. They will be able to answer any other questions you may have!

Q
I hooked this up in my car and the sub blew within a few hours of playing. The gain was set to the lowest setting because I hadn't adjusted it yet. And the lpf was off also. Did this have anything to do with it blowing? I also then realized the settings on the head unit for the sub wasn't set to the "through" position. I bought another one and I'm scared to hook it up because I don't want that to happen again. Help me!!!
[ Alexander  May 22, 2019 ]

A
The low pass is definitely needed and your headunit should be using some type of sub control pre-out. Other than that it's gonna depend on how you have it facing and what kind of music your playing. This is not a "shake the car next to me sub". It will complete the low end of your sound stage. If your playing hip hop or bass music your gonna have to temper your expectations. It's a great sub system for the money but it has to be played for what it is.

Q
would this fit under the rear seat in a 2007 Chevrolet avalanche?

A
I wanted to put it under the back seat of my jeep wrangler. It doesn't fit.
[ Miguel  Apr 18, 2019 ]
Q
Will this fit under the passenger seats for my silverado double cab. also is wiring included?
[ Matthew  Feb 08, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
There are no cables included. The woofer is wired inside the box but you will need at least a 10ga amp kit. Also depending on what year and electronics package you have, you may need a special line in adapter to get signal to the amp correctly. The box should fit under the rear seat. Again, the year of the truck would be helpful. I'd measure the clearance u have and compare it to the specs of the box to be sure. Great little package, especially for the price! The downfiring sub really sounds great!
