Features

Compatibility: The KCA-RC35MR marine wired remote control is compatible with Kenwood marine and in-dash head units that feature a SWC remote wire (blue/yellow). The Kenwood KCA-RC35MR marine wired remote control is designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. Up to 6 of these remotes can be connected and daisy-chained to a compatible Kenwood receiver.

Note: You can also use the KCA-RC35MR remote control in conjunction with Kenwood's KCA-RC55MR remote (113RC55MR, sold separately) on select Kenwood marine receivers. Up to six KCA-RC35MR remotes and three KCA-RC55MR remotes (for a total of 9 wired remotes) can be used with one compatible Kenwood marine receiver.

Backlit Controls: The Kenwood KCA-RC35MR features source selection, music search, volume up/down, and mute control buttons. The KCA-RC35MR provides backlit illumination so it is easy to see at night.

Mounting: The Kenwood KCA-RC35MR is designed to be surface-mounted using the supplied mounting bracket and hardware. The wired remote requires a cutout diameter of 0.75" to run its wiring through.

Wiring: The KCA-RC35MR offers a 4-wire installation; Ignition (red), Remote (blue/yellow), Illumination (orange), and Ground (black). The attached 4-wire harness is only 8" long and may require the purchase of additional lengths of wire (sold separately).

A
price point and discount with the Kenwood receiver. [ Donald  May 24, 2016 ]
A
I bought this so I could remotely control my receiver from the driver side of the boat. I wanted to primarily be able to control the volume but this offers the ability to control other features of the receiver as well. I'm also hoping that this will stand up to water as I plan to install in the open cockpit area where it is likely to see water from rain or just splashing. The $40 discount when combining this remote with a receiver purchase was an added bonus. [ George  May 01, 2016 ]

I'm not familiar with the stereo model number you've referenced but if it has a SWC remote wire in it's harness (blue/yellow), it should be compatible. This will depend largely on the Kenwood model in question. For more details on compatibility, please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They can confirm functionality between the Kenwood remote(s) and corresponding marine receiver models. Thanks! My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/advisors/larry

Has anyone else had problems with the search buttons on this remote? When I press them they seem to only work about every third time, and don't cycle through the presets, they only work when the Kenwood deck is on 'seek' mode, finding the next available station.

Question on the wiring. Kenwood thought it wasnt necessary to have the remote installed more than 8 inches from the head unit. I can't find this specific remote (blue yellow) wire anywhere. Can I use anything else? Also, is the illumination (orange) wire mandatory or can I call it off? Thanks.

Q
Does the Kenwood KCA-RC35MR Wired remote have an extension wire to put the remote farther away from the receiver?
[ Jason  Jun 22, 2015 ]

A
it just uses regular 12 gauge wire, splice it in and mount the remote wherever you want
[ DAVID  Jun 24, 2015 ]

All you need to do is add speaker wire to extend it. Use equal or heavier guage wire to minimize signal loss.

Q
My KMR-350U receiver in my boat is at the Captain's helm (right side), can I install one remote on the passenger side glovebox area (left) and a "second" remote unit on the stern of my boat (at the rear of the boat)? So, can two remotes be wired to one Kenwood KMR-350U? Thank you.
[ bgman  Jul 12, 2014 ]
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Although the owners manual for the radio and the remote don't mention installing two remotes tech support is saying you can install two remotes. They say you should have a good battery installed (probably should have a good battery whether you have two remotes or not). The owners manual for the remote strongly suggests professional installation for one, so you should definitely consider professional installation for two. The installer will be able to determine the best method for the connections, but tech is saying you can connect the wires from each remote to the wires of the Kenwood radio. Again, a professional will be sure everything is grounded and protected as it should. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
How many can I hook up to my stereo? Can I just wire 2 of them together?
[ Don  May 25, 2014 ]

A
I bought two remotes and had them installed without any problems. One was placed by the driver and the other on the left side/rear. The wires meet at the reciever and I have not had any problems with the two remotes.
[ MATTHEW  May 26, 2014 ]
Q
Currently have the Kenwood KMR- 525 installed in the boat. I would like to install two of these remotes in the boat. What else is needed to be ordered besides two of these remotes. Also what kind of communication wire is needed between the remote and receiver? Thanks!
[ Grant  Mar 16, 2014 ]
2 answers
A
The Remote Works Great. No Special Cables Are Needed To Hook Them Up. Each Remote Needs A Connection of 4 Wires. 12V+ , Gnd , A WIre For IlluminatioN, And 1 Wire For Communication. It's Best To Get Your 12V+ From The Same Place That The Radio Is Connected That Way Is Has Power When Your Radio Does. The Gnd Wire Can Connect To The Closest Ground Source. The Illumination Wire can Connect To You Dash Lights Switch Or Just Connect To The Same 12V+ source As above. The Communication Wire Connects To The Wire Labeled "Remote" On The Back Of The radio. Since Your Connecting Two Units Follow The same Procedure For Each. All wires Can Be Standard 16 Or 18 Gauge wire.

Q
which marine stereo is this remote compatible with?
[ Troy  Jan 23, 2014 ]
1 answer
A
Of the current models this remote is compatible with the KMR-358 and KMR-555u. You can find the 555u here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KMR555U/Kenwood-KMR-555U.html?tp=61742 When looking at marine receivers you can click on the Accessories tab, then click on marine remotes to see the remotes that are compatible with that receiver.
