Fit perfectly with a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. The ground wire is not part of the wiring harness so the ground from the vehicle needs to be spliced separately from the harness.
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: Some of the wires were not exact color matches, but with close attention to the wiring diagram it is not terribly difficulty to figure out.

Could Be Better
Michael K from Midlothian, VA on 2/11/2014
1989 Jeep Cherokee
I was glad that you had this adapter in stock. But I was a little disappointed with it. First, one of the leads to the left front speaker was missing. I was able to use a surplus lead to replace it (there were some I didn't need). Second, the connector pins needed a little straightening. Needle nose pliers did the trick. Otherwise it fit perfectly and the color coding matched the receiver's wire harness, so assembly was easy. And you guys provided great directions in the Master Sheet. Very helpful!
Pros: Easy to hook up. Fit the factory connector perfectly.
Cons: One speaker wire missing. Connector pins needed straightening.

Makes Installation a Snap
koppsisgood from Oscoda, MI on 2/15/2013
1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Makes installation a snap. All the colored wires matched the colors of my receiver and made it easy. I connected the wires in the house and then faced the 15 degree winter for the actual install, which was a snap because the connector fit right into the factory plug. The only thing missing was wire crimpers or nuts for connecting the wires.
Pros: Makes installation easy. Instructions are clear.
Cons: Bring your own wire nuts or crimp connectors.

I used this to install a JVC KD-R820BT into a 1994 Jeep Wrangler. It worked perfectly. I had to play with the "dimmer" and "illumination" leads to see which one I wanted to connect to the radio's illumination lead. I ended up hooking it to the Jeep's "illumination" lead.

Great...as always
Don Page from Enterprise, AL on 7/14/2011
1995 Jeep Wrangler
I always get a wiring harness from Crutchfield. My son made the mistake one time of cutting away the OEM vehicle harness and wiring his radio directly to the vehicle wires. Later, when he went to sell the car, the purchasers wanted the original radio reinstalled. Oops...no harness and cannot buy the OEM without purchasing the entire radio at $450 bucks (Chevy Impala). Lesson learned. ALWAYS get Crutchfield's adapters!!

Metra 70-1002 Receiver Wiring Harness
Jeffy from California on 5/26/2011
1992 Jeep Wrangler
Not much to say really. It's a harness. I do recommend soldering the joints rather then using crimp-on connectors. The harness is really long so I ended up cutting 4" off to fit it all behind the dash. Having a proper harness sure beats having to deal with hacked up dash wiring though.

Wiring Details
Me from Boulder, CO on 10/20/2010
1993 Jeep Cherokee
It would be nice if the vendor would sell the adapter pre-wired to a DIN1 connector. This would eliminate the need to connect the radio supplied DIN1 connector to the adapter wiring harness. But the color coding to the DIN1 standard makes the connections a snap. Also, the dim connections (at least in a Jeep Cherokee) connect to either 12V or instrument panel dimming, so if the new radio has a dimming connection that goes to the car light switch control (orange/white stripe wire) the installer needs to deal with that separately (with no suggestions as to appropriate splice location or splice connector and wire. The light control to the dim control relay is a good choice for that connection and splice in a Jeep Cherokee.)

Metra 70-1002 Receiver Wiring Harness
Daniel from New Jersey on 4/6/2009
1996 Jeep Cherokee
Too complete the wiring of the harness I needed a package of two ended plastic wire connectors and a wire crimping tool to connect the wires. I had the crimper but not the plastic connectors. Still better than using black tape or a soldering iron to connect the wires. A necessity for the installation. Just remember, you still have to use the receiver manual to compare and make sure the wire colors are the same. Also, there may be wires you may not use. All unused wires must be protected by black electrical tape or plastic. Leave no wires exposed where they can touch metal and cause a short.
