About the Metra 70-1004 Receiver Wiring Harness

Metra 70-1004 Receiver Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

Metra 70-1004 Receiver Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

This was an absolute stress and time saver. It's great Crutchfield includes the wiring harness and installation kit for your vehicle but you still need wire nuts or crimps or something to connect the harness from your after market radio to the harness to fit your car. It's nice that this service is here. This made it real easy to just plug everything together. Real happy I used this instead of going through the hassle and tedium of doing it myself.

It probably would have been easier to install harness if I didn't hack up the wire harness from a previous install of another piece of equipment, as it was I had to reattach the speaker wires and this took a little bit of time. I will probably go back in and remove this piece and just hardwire everything to the back of the radio.

Pros: It is a nice piece of equipment, if you don't do what I did first to the SUV.

Nice adaptor for free but did not fit the factory harness for my 2009 Hyundai Accent. The Accent had 4 separate harnesses and this one did not mate with any of them. I had to look up the color code on line and hand solder the radio's connector to the factory wires after cutting off the factory connectors.

Pros: Free with stereo

Cons: Did not fit my car harness.

I got this wiring harness along with the dash kit for free when I purchased a new head unit for my car. I was so glad that I did! I downloaded some wiring diagrams from Hyundai forums but wound up not needing them because of this little baby! the day my box from Crutchfield arrived I was able to pull the diagram from this harness and match it up with the head unit. took me all of about 10 min to get the prep work done before I even opened the dash. thanks to the instructions as well (From Crutchfield again for free!) opening up the dash was a snap and because of this harness, installing the head unit was literally plug and play! now if I ever sell the car, i can put the stock stereo back in and no one will know the difference!

Pros: Plug and play! cut my installation time in half!

Cons: I don't consider it a con, but the harness doesn't allow you to utilize the aux jack in front of the gear shifter, or the remote controls on the steering wheel. In my case, my model of Hyundai didn't have the steering wheel controls, and the head unit I installed has an aux jack built into it! TRUST ME I do not miss the stock stereo in the LEAST!!!

Bought this for a 2008 Hyundai Accent. I guess this is the right one for most 08's. But if you have an 08 with the XM radio/CD, you need to search under the 2009 model. Best advice is to pull the radio out before ordering. Crutchfield has done a good job with the photos and arent using a generic pic for ALL wiring. Makes life easy, look at yours and refer to the pics to ensure you get the right one. Tech support is A+, called after normal buisness hours and they were about to get the new one shipped the following morning. Great service. Thx.

Works great in my 2008 Rio. Only problem is the factory Aux input doesn't work now. Not a problem since the new head unit has one in the front. Overall good product.

Perfect fit and matched up exactly with my JVC KD-AHD69. I chose to solder and shrink wrap my wires, so the longer strip wasn't a problem.

As most adapters, it fits right in place. Plenty of wire length to work with the stereo a little further back from the dash. A little over stripped, but that's easily clipped off. Combined with the stereo harness, the only pain were the factory wires being short. Clear installation to adapt to the stereo, with the harness laid out on the sheet. Made soldering a breeze. Especially, where I installed an amp & had to run speaker wires. Having this come with the unit, is great. Thank you for all of the freebies you do send.

This harness fit my 2007 Kia Rondo EX (with Infinity sound system), and came with good instructions. But unfortunately it is missing the two pins & wires for the steering wheel controls. That made it much more difficult to install the steering wheel control interface required for my new system. Crutchfield confirmed that they don't offer a harness that has those two pins. So they save 50-cents by not including two pins and two wires (which admittedly might not be needed by most Kia owners) and I spend an extra couple of hours trying to figure out how to make this work with my car. Disappointing. Add those two pins & wires and I would give this 5-stars.

this adapter matched each color of my original sony radio installation was a breeze be aware to order with this the Item #060CCC1418 which are the Installation Edge Crimp Caps when you buy this they make the job very easy, if you dont you will endup havin gto order later and paying almos U$10 with shipping, crutchfiled should add this as part of the package. it is a gotcha once you start reading the installation instruccions, unless you want to spend your evening soldering each cable, so product is great just minus one start for not sending the crimp caps when you buy the entire installation kit for your car from crutchfiled

This works great. The only draw back was the diagram in the instructions did not match the harness and required a call to support (reason for 4 star rating). Crutchfield support resolved the issue in no time. I would recommend this product to anyone needing to convert from factory to aftermarket audio system. It was a pleasure doing business with Crutchfield their support is great, I would highly recommend to anyone and I will purchase from them again. (2007 KIA Sportage)

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

1 question already asked

Q
According to the research I have done online having to do with my 2007 Hyundai Azera Limited with the Ultimate package addition, this harness will not work when it comes to retaining the factory amplified Infinity audio system. As a matter of fact, Metra does not offer such an option for my vehicle. So, my question is, does this Mastersheet that supposedly comes with all new head unit purchases offer instructions on how to retain the factory amplified Infinity system in my vehicle with an aftermarket head unit or is there simply no way coming from Crutchfield? Thank you in advance for your reply.

Thank you for the prompt response to my questions and concerns. Yeah, you present a valid point about talking to an Advisor. I just figured first asking the question in this manner would not hurt anything and potentially gain the answer I am looking for. However, I believe I will go ahead with the online chat and just see what happens. Right now, I am sort of discouraged because I have been at this for the past 3 months trying to see what can be done to integrate the factory setup. I know it is possible for some packages, but there are some that just have those slight differences to throw everything off. Anyway, thanks again!
[ mcbrfoss  Feb 02, 2014 ]

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
