Different Harness Connections
Michael from Marietta, GA on 2/14/2021
1986 Volvo 240 Series
I have a 1986 245, and this wiring harness could not attach to the factory wiring harness. Specifically, the factory harness required a clip system that this product did not provide, so I could not secure the connection. Even if this product was compatible with the stock harness, you would have to connect the stereo to the rear speaker wires at the center console, so the ease of using this harness is mitigated.
Pros: None
Cons: Doesn't seat correctly

Metra 70-1119 Receiver Wiring Harness

I did not need this part. It was included in the other components but, had I known it was not necessary for my installation, I would have omitted it. I suppose it's one of those situations where you're not certain what you need until you've pulled everything out . Anyway, it's sitting here unused. The part itself is fine.

One of the wires did not match up with the labeling on the head unit, so it caused a power issue. Otherwise quality ok

works as advertised

Just the thing for adding a new radio to my 1988 Volvo 240DL wagon. My previous radio was stolen so I decided to take to opportunity to learn how to install a replacement. All in all, relatively painless. Soldered the connections. Color guide was all correct. And the speakers are working on both sides now (sorry to the thieves, who apparently got a broken unit...)

Fits...but didn't need it
Adam from East Lansing, MI on 9/6/2013
1983 Volvo 240 Series
It fit the stock adapter but given that most volvo 240's require rewiring one or more speakers I'd say don't bother with this. You won't save much time or hassle.
Pros: Fit the factory wire harness
Cons: You don't really need it...and probably shouldn't use it.

Volvo 240 Receiver Wire Harness
Rex from Springfield, VA on 8/22/2013
1986 Volvo 240 Series
Wiring was a perfect match to the radio and wiring harness. Easy assembly once the connection was found on the lower left of the center console.
Pros:
Cons: The 240 Volvo installation requires the addition of about 8 more inches to be able to reach from the radio to the harness connection located at the bottom left of the center console. It was necessary to remove the driver panel of the console to locate the connection.

Epic wiring harness fail!
Richard from Austin Texas on 3/18/2013
I ordered a wiring harness for a 240 DL. I told the person that was taking my order that I had 4 speaker system. He assured me that this was the wiring harness I needed and it would fit and only take a 30 min to install! This harness did not fit the rear speakers were not covered in the harness at all. I called back and he assured me that he would send me the right harness. It arrived and was completely wrong basically just blew smoke!
Pros: Non
Cons: Would not fit my car properly! Operator blatantly lied twice!

Metra 70-1119 Receiver Wiring Harness
Sam from San Marino, CA on 10/22/2012
1988 Volvo 740
The connector and harness was of no use for me on my 88 Volvo 740 wagon. The wire colors did not match with my car's wiring. The connector did not fit properly. I used the old connectors and wires, which consisted of a nine pin and a four pin, after I traced the function of each wire.
Pros: none
Cons: Did not work for me.

The adapter fit the vehicle and made the reciever installation very easy.If you have the optional (dealer installed) premium stereo w/pre amp,You need to use the wire harness from the pre-amp to connect the rear speakers to the replacement reciever.
Pros: Fit the wire harness as stated.
Cons: Non found.

Defective Cable
David N from San Jose, CA on 1/26/2012
1990 Volvo 240 Series
I found that the cable that was shipped to me had one contact improperly installed. The strain relief crimp was the only thing retaining the wire. The stripped wire was not captured in the conductive crimp. The right speaker kept dropping out so once I found and soldered this connection, things were fine.

No wiring diagram
George from Charlottesville, VA on 5/25/2009
Received the wiring harness but had no wiring diagram with it. Was told had to buy a Master Guide? Had to guess the pin out. Would have been nice to have a simple pin out guide with the wire harness. Not a happy customer.

1988 Volvo 740
Sanfam from Rochester, NY on 9/12/2008

Got this with my order from Crutchfield. After pulling the factory amp (which supplies audio to the rear speakers), I discovered that I had to salvage the output-side connector from the amp to the rear channels to make for a modular stereo harness. It seems like this particular component should be included in this kit, as any car that does not have rear channels can simply forgo the second adapter and only use the first. Otherwise, worked fine and installation was a snap. Soldered the various harness leads together and was on my way in no time.
