My Volov Install

The most useful and thoughtful accessory imaginable. The Philips system in my Volvo V40 has a proprietary connector/harness for the speakers. This harness adapts the Philps connector to a standard +/- spade connector. The connectors are quite tight, so you must patiently work the female connectors onto the male tabs on the speakers. These adapters will save you literaly hours of time versus adapting the Volvo harness to standard spade connectors.

Caution !!!! Don't Use These Speaker Wiring Harnesses.

Very poor Black end does not lock on the car wiring plug I had to zip tie the black connectors together. The speaker wire connectors are so tight that I thought I would damage the speaker terminals. I finally got them on one speaker and then they fell off when I went to mount the speakers. I cut off the speaker connectors and just used the wires that came with the new speakers. These speaker connection adapters are Crap and should never be used. Just cut and replace connectors with wire provided with new speakers.

Overall, I'm happy with Crutchfield but this product stunk! After installing complete new system, the left front speaker didn't work. This involved taking everything apart (door panel, center console, etc.) multiple times trying to trace it down. It turned out to be this product was faulty. I ended up having to Frankenstein the product, cut off the leads (and check with multi-meter: they were okay) and solder them to the car wiring. Finally reassembled, it works great. But what a pain in the neck! Looking at the connector, the contacts are quite loose - this was obviously where the problem lie.

Purchased two pairs of the Metra 71-017C wire harnesses so I could refrain from cutting the OEM speaker leads. The connectors were a perfect fit however, I had to cut the positive/negative female spade connectors off because the negative would not fit on the negative male spade soldered to the speaker because it was too small. This wasn't a deal breaker but a bit of a nuisance.

Perfect fit to Porsche 996 wiring harness (2004 cabriolet) for speaker upgrade. Plugs right into the harness. I cut the quick disconnects that were supplied and crimped on a couple of spade connectors as I was wiring to a crossover. If you are going directly from the harness to a replacement speaker the quick disconnects should work just fine.
Pros: Quick clean install - easy to go back to bog stock. Don't have to hack into the harness.
Cons: You don't "need" these but you would have to cut the connector off your old speaker to connect to the harness - or cut into your harness - a no no in my opinion,.

This is probably the quickest way to simplify the installation for any install. I have bought these for all my applications and really takes the pain out of the installation. With these I always get the polarity right on the install. The design on the Jaguar stock connectors gave me a little trouble on a rear speaker. not the connectors fault but the stock plugs design. I always buy these and have them pre connected before I take the speakers out to do the install.
Pros: Simple, fast and guarantees I get the polarity correct.
Cons: They are cheap but more expensive than cutting and splicing the enclosed wires to the stock harness.

This is the correct speaker adapter for 2001 Porsche Carrera 996, Boxter, etc. Look all over the Internet and Crutchfields the only place I could find. Hopefully they'll update the description to include the cars this fits. Really helpful on front dash speakers as it's difficult to cut the stock harness, attach connectors, then have enough length to actually attach the speaker. Get these, they're worth it!

One of the four harnesses was defective in that it was missing one electrical terminal, so I had to cut and manually solder this harness to the speaker. This was not beyond my skill; however, the main reason I chose Crutchfield was so that I would have an easy installation job.

Not for your Saturn Vue

2004 Saturn VUE
This harness was provided for free to install replacement speakers in my 2004 Saturn View. Don't use it. While the connector snaps together, the wires inside made poor contact, causing the sound to cut in and out as the I drove my car around. I had to disassemble my door 3 times before I figured out the problem. Soldering the wires together was a much more reliable solution in the end. Thanks for the free harness, but no thanks if you have a Saturn Vue.

Doesn't get any easier than this. Plug one end to the factory connector and the other end to your speaker. Good connection, easy to use.
