About the Metra 71-032C Speaker Wiring Harnesses

These harnesses will allow you to plug your new speakers into the factory connectors present in the speaker openings for your vehicle.

These harnesses will allow you to plug your new speakers into the factory connectors present in the speaker openings for your vehicle.

Note: Some aftermarket speakers have terminals that are wider than this harness's slide-on connectors. You may need to widen the harness's female slide-on connectors, or use the slide terminals that may be included with the speakers. If you need to connect your new speaker's connectors to the Crutchfield-supplied harness, soldering is best, and crimping is also very popular - see "Accessories."

Features

Speaker Harness: These speaker harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory speaker plugs when replacing your factory speakers with aftermarket car speakers. The speaker harness features two female quick-slide connectors on one end to attach directly to your new aftermarket car speakers & a proprietary Molex connector on the other end that connects to your vehicle's factory speaker plug.

Quick-Slide Connectors: The speaker harness is equipped with a large (positive) & small (negative) female quick-slide terminal. These quick-slide terminals fit directly onto most aftermarket car stereo speaker terminals (slight crimping may be required). In rare cases that the quick-slide terminals do not fit your car speaker terminals, you will need to solder the speaker harness to your aftermarket speaker's terminals or replace the quick-slide connectors on the speaker harness with the correct size terminal.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Quick-Slide Terminal Measurements: The positive female quick-slide terminal measures 0.205" (inner width), while the negative female quick-slide terminal measures 0.115" (inner width).

Wire Code Chart: Two identical speaker harnesses are included.

The speaker harnesses are not absolutely necessary. You could cut the factory connectors off of the speaker wires in the car, but you would still need to add female spade connectors to the wires in order to make a good connection with the speakers. The little speaker harnesses have a small and large female spade connector to ensure you connect the proper polarity. All in all, I liked them as they made a clean, quick and solid connection between the factory harness and after market speakers.

No, these are adapters for the factory speaker plugs. You can cut out the old plugs from the speakers and butt connect, splice or solder new speakers in. Regardless, this has nothing to do with the head unit.
