Unnecessary

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This kit is flimsy and wasn't even necessary. If it hadn't been free with my purchase, I'd be asking for a refund. The stock double DIN bracket on my 2005 Honda Civic fit my new head unit perfectly as-is.

Pros: None

Cons: Flimsy

Dissapointing

Eh. The trim piece around the radio did not fit perfectly; gives a distinctly unprofessional appearance. Instructions are TERRIBLE ... the illustrations and narrative instructions don't match! Better than nothing, but barely.

Pros: Slightly better than nothing

Cons: Poor fit. Terrible instructions

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Review for 04 CR-V Installed a Pioneer AVH-2550 in an 04 CR-V. Required a lot of dash mods to get the trim ring to snap in properly. Did not use the brackets that came with the kit, just iso'd using the factory radio brackets and some careful shifting. If it wasnt free with purchase i would have thought i wasted my money. As always the instructions that came with the kit were spot on and great. I cannot give this a full 1 star due to the quality of the product and the fact that it is used with so many applications. DO NO BUY THIS FOR AN 04 CR-V. Just buy a double din trim ring and get freaky with a glue gun :)

Pros: Great Instructions.

Cons: Although applicable to many cars. Didn't work well on my 04 CR-V.

Hate the waste of needing only one part of this package. Wish I would have known that going in and would have researched if something else could have been done.

Some flaws...

Instructions included were great. Cut all tabs EXCEPT C and H. I started cutting... But the dash trim kit did not label each tab. I ended cutting off 2 tabs that I should have kept. I realized this once I referenced the picture included after I had cut tabs from 2 sides.

Pros:

Cons: Label all the tabs!

Not terrible and I was able to get it to work in a 99 Honda Odyssey. But I didn't use any of the side or bottom supports, had to clip off a lot of those snaps on the main front trim piece but it eventually went in and looks good enough to hide the extra gap around a 2 din stereo.

Poor instructions, holes didn't line up right with any of the holes on the stereo. To make everything fit right, I had to modify the openings for the screws that attach them to the stereo with my Dremel and a tapered grinder before it would work.

John from Eastern NC on 7/10/2018

I ended up tossing it, the finish was too different from the car dash and the new head unit. I did mount it and look and fit was OK, not great but for someone not as picky on looking almost OE and not wanting to cut and trim OE dash it's a very good option. I ended up using the trim that was included with the head unit and reworking the dash for clearance, the result to me is easily 10 times better than this kit.

Pros: Free, did fit.

Cons: Looked like cheap bandaid to fitment issue.

Lousy fit for 2004 CR-V

Steve from Silverton, OR on 6/17/2018

2004 Honda CRV LX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I had the same problem as many other people in this forum. I trimmed all the tabs except for the ones that I assumed were the H tabs, although they are not labeled as such. The trim ring will not pop in to the factory radio bezel because there is no clearance for the top clips to go deep enough and then pop up behind the bezel. I'm wonder if maybe the Scoche kit is any better.

Dash kit was actually very good, but the instruction sheet for my application - 99 Acura Integra were a little vague. I played with the kit a bit and figured it out, but reading alone did not help. that was the only reason it was not 5 star. They should also add that most tabs you dont need can be just bent and snapped off cleaner by using pliers. I used wire cutters only to discover this after.

Poor fit, poor quality, and poor finish. Instructions are all over the place and reference parts I don't even have in my car. For my 2006 CRV, this is an appallingly poor choice for this application. The trimmed off tabs of the trim ring snap into nothing... even though the instructions show SCREWS (that apparently screw into the radio??) holding it in place. Very disappointed overall.

This is garbage, cheap, flimsy, plastic garbage. For a 2004 CR-V, you'll only need the trim ring, and it looks terrible when finished. It doesn't fit well, so it's bent and uneven, and it doesn't cover the gap, so you're peering into the space above and below the radio. Used this to install a Pioneer MVH-X690BS, and it makes the whole job look like crap.

Honda/Acura Kit

2003 Honda CRV EX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I replaced the original radio in my 2003 Honda CRV because a CD was stuck in the player and I could not get it out. I purchased a Pioneer radio for this but there was a gap in the dash face plate because the Pioneer is smaller than the original radio. I bought this kit to close that gap. For my car, all of the mounting brackets were worthless. The plastic brackets that came in the kit had several different mounting points. The instructions tell you to brake off all of them for the 2003 Honda. That is probably correct because none of them aligned anyway. After doing so, you have no way to secure the radio in the dash. The only thing I could use was the gap filler that came in the kit. If doesn't work that great but it does close the gap.

Doesn't fit well on a 2005 Honda CRV. It leaves a gap all the way around the opening for that "I did it myself" amateur look. It would have been easy to make it larger so you wouldn't see the air gaps and it would look just like the OEM dash. Flimsy and warped, too. Find a better product, this one's NOT a keeper.

Terrible product. I followed the instructions for my vehicle very carefully and as you can see it didn't come close to fitting my car. There is no way to make it fit as its not tall enough. You can also see how poor quality the item is. The edges are not even straight they bow in. This was included as part of the purchase and a deciding factor on why I purchased my stereo from Crutchfield so I am hoping they provide me with a product that works otherwise unfortunately this will be my last Crutchfield purchase.

Cons: Poor instructions, cheap, breaks easily, everything about this kit sucks.

It worked, but it basically wraps around the stereo for a 03 CRV. The directions are terrible, but tech support is pretty good. The directions say to screw the trim piece into the radio plastic faceplate with small screws. This seems a bit ridiculous to do for a brand new radio.

As with most one-size-fits-all (or at least a lot of models) products, did not seem to fit well and the detachable face of the Pioneer AVH-4200NEX got stuck on it. Maybe I did not install it right. The instructions that came with it to describe which tabs to break-off conflicted with the instructions Crutchfield provided. I followed Crutchfield's instructions, but as was stated earlier didn't really seem to fit well for me. I ended up breaking it to get the detachable face unstuck... better it break than the face. It was free-99, so can't complain too much, but now there is a slight gap around the new head-unit.

Not great. For my application you only use one piece of the kit, the trim piece that surrounds the radio. It doesn't fit the best. The Crutchfield instructions were different than the Metra instructions. I followed the Crutchfield instructions and broke off all the tabs except the ones they specified. Now it doesn't securely fasten and I'm stuck because I broke off all the other tabs and the instructions specified. The Metra instructions specified different tabs to use but to late after you've already broken them all off.

Pros: None

Cons: Not a good fit if you follow Crutchfield instructions. Vague install instructions.

Only used the face plate in my 1998 Honda CRV. Directions said to leave only the B and H tabs, I inadvertently took off the H-Tabs (short-ones on the bottom) because they weren't labeled. The flexibility of the plastic made it appear that it would be a sloppy fit anyway. I ended up taking my wife's hot glue gun and attaching the face plate directly to the console plastic which ended up creating a much more secure fit all around the face plate. This turned out to be a much better installation in my opinion. The face plate kit was thrown in at no charge and final install looked really good. So I made it all work.

It looks quite good. Only a single piece, the trim, was called for in my install. The instructions say: "Cut off all of the tabs from this part except the tabs labeled "C" and "H" This is wrong! tabs C will never connect, and, after you've broken off all the top tabs, the trim will flop from the top. I had to electrical tape this thing on. It's great that Crutchfield offers this (and the harness) for free, but bad instructions null out that bit. I'd rather buy something with proper instructions. Radio , Harness fine.

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Bad directions (for 2002 Honda CR-V). Electrical tape fix not so sharp.

When ordering from Crutchfield, there were two sets of instructions that mention this kit. One is correct and one is misleading. I assumed incorrectly that the more complicated involved directions were more complete and wasted some time trying to get them to fit. Eventually I referred to the much simpler directions and found that only one piece, the front trim panel, was needed for the Kenwood dual din install in a 2006 Honda CR-V LX. Also the directions say to "cut" the unnecessary tabs. I found it much easier to simply use pliers to snap them off.

Pros: The one piece needed works fine.

Cons: The other dozen other parts, included, were not needed and added confusion and time to what was a simple installation.

Being a universal kit for so many vehicles, you really have to take your time and experiment with the kit to make it work right and look good. The directions can be very confusing and are not well written, so take your time and put the kit together step by step and you should be fine. It does take some tinkering to make it look good when you're done - like filing off the screws that attach the face plate to the assembly brackets. The end product looks very good and holds the radio well, but the directions are not well written, hard to follow and make for a frustrating experience.

Pros: Looks good in the end. Fits the vehicle perfectly

Cons: Directions are not well written Directions are confusing Assembly screws are too long

It worked...eventually

Roboyt0 from Illinois on 5/5/2015

1998 Acura Integra GSR

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I give it 5 stars for functionality as it, eventually, did exactly what it was supposed to do. It also makes the Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS look like it was made to go into the dash of my Integra. I don't do radio installations very often anymore, so this was my first in several years. Maybe others would know that you screw the trim ring to the ISO brackets you attach to the radio, but that information isn't relayed anywhere in the instructions. I made the mistake of test fitting the radio into the dash with the ISO brackets attached to the double-DIN...which caused it to get stuck in the dashboard...extremely frustrating. I ended up having to cut one of the corners off of the ISO bracket to get it out, so I could then figure out how to properly install it. Once a friend, who is a longtime installer, told me what I had overlooked it seemed as though it would be smooth sailing. That was until I realized the tiny, pan head, self tapping screws, that are necessary to install it properly were not included with the kit. I had to rummage through a bunch of screw bins to find something that was workable, tap the holes with the screw and then snip the screw down to 1/3 of its length so I wasn't screwing into the chassis of the Pioneer head unit. It was at this point that I also realized the corner of the ISO bracket I snipped off was where the trim ring was supposed to screw in to. It is holding more securely than I had imagined with 3/4 corners screwed together properly.

Pros:

Cons: If the instructions for installation in my 1998 Integra were anymore vague, the page would have been blank... -1 star for the horrendously vague and contradictory instructions -1 star for the fact that I will have to order a second kit to properly secure the trim ring to the radio...fortunately it's not that much -1 star for not including the screws necessary to attach the trim ring to the ISO brackets

Crutchfield response on 5/6/2015

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

If I could give this zero starts I would. First, all you could ever use is the dash plate (rectangular piece of plastic that goes around the sides), all the other pieces are useless. the dash plate does not fit a Double din, it is TOO SMALL, so I used some sand paper to thin the edges and fit it, It breaks, I glue it back together, still won't fit. Then I realize that my car (2003 Honda CRV) has steel brackets that will work just fine. This product was not only a complete waste of money, but a complete waste of my time. It may work for some double din radios, but they should not advertise it as a universal fit, and it is WAY over priced. LOOK ELSEWHERE

Pros: Absolutely none.

Cons: 1. Expensive 2. Does not fit 3. Breaks easily 4. includes extra pieces that have zero use. I took a chance buying this, the reviews told me I was taking a risk. worst use of a $20 bill I have ever spent.

1999 Honda CR-V So, the kit is free which is a bonus. However, the instructions are horrible and nearly unusable. When installing the product you will have to use common sense and hopefully your solid Tetris skills acquired in the early 90's. My instructions call for the use of the side pieces which were not at all needed or useful ~ I reused the factory brackets. The only piece I used from the kit was the radio surround / bezel. This did fit very well and tightly into the Honda factory opening - the only modification necessary was the removal of all but two tabs on the top and all the tabs on either side or the bezel.

Pros: Free and ultimately what was needed to fill the gap in the dash.

Cons: Useless instructions. Cheap plastic components.

So-so on '03 Honda CRV

Mertz from Massachusetts on 1/10/2015

2003 Honda CRV EX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The dash kit was "free" so that's a plus. I used the OEM brackets to secure the unit. The installation instructions were not that clear to me and, most importantly, there is a small gap around and between the perimeter of my JVC KW-R910BT cd receiver and the dash kit frame. I used some thin black foam that I had lying around from a craft store to fill in the gap. I you didn't install the unit you might not notice the gap but I wanted the finished installation to look as close to factory tight as possible. I don't know if dash kits from other manufacturers would have been any better. Given that the Metra was included, I guess I can't complain too much but I wonder if Crutchfield could find better trim kit vendors.

Pros: It was included with the cd receiver.

Cons: Don't expect a factory tight fit (at least on an '03 CRV).

This kit worked well, except for the side attachment brackets. In consulting with Crutchfield, I decided to use the brackets from the original radio. That worked fine.

Cons: Side brackets did not fit, so I used ones from original radio. Additionally, the installation booklet was not clear about removal instructions, Then installation for a 2004 Honda CR-V EX.

I received this product free from Crutchfield when I purchased a double din stereo for my car. At first glance, there are a lot of parts, and you would think that at least of them would be used... however, the directions are not clear, and the bezel did not fit the stereo I was installing. We ended up installing the stereo without using any of the parts from this kit

Pros: Free

Cons: Instructions not clear, kit tries to be too many things to too many different cars.

Totally unhappy with the kit. Had to call Tech for this kit,not the JVC unit. Poor instructions, "break off all the tabs except "C", but no tab labeled "C". Turns out,I tossed the whole thing except for the face plate which was poor fitting. I used the ISO brackets from my Honda radio, attached them to the JVC and then mounted the unit with the four bolts from the original radio. Bless the tech at Crutchfield who helped me find "C" tab. It's junk and frustrating when you spend the bucks and time to upgrade your radio and the whole experience is ruined by a cheap kit like this.

Almost everything is perfect. After following instructions and clean-up of all removed lugs there is still a small amount of play in the adapter face plate for a 2005 CRV. Issue was resolved with a 6" piece of black tubing in the right place to remove the play and act as a compression seal to the face trim. In all with the minor rework everything else went without a hitch. Once complete the tuner looks like original install or better.

Pros: Fits well, only minor tweak needed for install, looks like original install equipment

Cons: All installs being equal (have done a few...) no issues for this install.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This trim kit does not work on a 2002 Honda CRV with the JVC stereo I bought through Crutchfield. even though according to the directions it should. The instructions are also really vague and very difficult to interpret, e.g. cut off certain tabs but they are not marked in any way and there are no arrows on the diagram so there's no way of knowing which of the three tabs co-located they want you to remove. In the end, because of this trim kit, I returned a stereo which I really liked. the Customer service at Crutchfield was very good, spend probably an hour on the phone with me suggesting different things and sending me various links to information. When it was obvious there was no resolution they issued me a Return Merchandise Authorization witth no problem.

Pros: None

Cons: Doesn't work with a Honda 2002 CRV Instructions are poorly written and difficult to follow On-line visual aids are a joke - basically shows a picture of the cavity where the stereo will go and then miraculously in the next picture the stereo is installed - with the factory mounting brackets holding the stereo in place even though in the directions they tell you to use the brackets supplies with the kit. Made of cheap plastic - thought it would break trimming the tabs off of it

DPX500BT into an 1992 acura integra

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

In the end, I did get this product to work in my integra, but it was a lot of work and required some modifications. I was able to use the bottom part of the frame, the front bezel around the radio, and only one of the sides. With both sides attached the whole assembly wouldn't fit ....it was to wide. This required me to fabricate a brace to support the radio on the side where I couldn't use the supplied support. The directions are OK, but they instruct the installer to remove certain tabs off the supplied components depending on what make of vehicle the kit will be installed. The problem is the tabs that needed removal on my application were not labeled. I needed to make an educated guess based on observation and fit and refit. Finally, the small screws supplied to fasten all the parts of this plastic kit together are just a bit too long, perhaps 2mm. Not much but enough to possibly interfere with the radio. I used a dremel tool to remove the tips of the screws that protruded.

Pros: With a little imagination and a bit of work I did get the kit to "work".

Cons: Read review

putting this kit on a kenwood ddx419 into a 92 accord and this kit is junk. it doesn't even fit around the radio. I thought that perhaps it was user error and asked a pro to check my work. he ended up with the same results. I called Crutchfield and they were great. they immediately sent out a replacement, thinking that perhaps I had just been the unfortunate recipient of a malformed kit. I received the replacement, went through the same procedures, and had the same result. I ordered a scosche kit, which has been what I have always used in the past and I was able to mount the kit to the radio and install it into the vehicle in less than 10 minutes.

Pros: nothing

This in dash receiver kit, well as my title says, left a lot to be desired. The instructions are terrible, confusing, poorly written, poorly detailed. Talked to customer service at Crutchfield and even he was at a loss of what to do, going so far as to say, try and fit it, cut off tabs that seem to prevent fit, if you cut off something you need we will send you another one. Eventually, just used the faceplate... Looks ok.

This in dash receiver kit is made to be universal. The instruction packet is a little vague on which parts of the model you have to take off. And by "take off" i mean take my 10,000 rpm dremel just to cut off the parts they instructed. Its tough plastic and built to last, but it is a nuisance to put together.

Pros: Durable, reliable, cheap, one size fits all, and came with instructions.

Cons: The instructions are vague, and you have to break the product to use it with your model of vehicle. its universal, and a little nuisance, but well worth it.

David from Lafayette, CO on 2/5/2014

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This came free with my purchase of a new Kenwood receiver for my 1997 Honda CR-V. This was the most confusing part of the installation because the instructions were incorrect. The instructions stated that I needed some of the pieces that I did not actually need to use, and told me to keep/remove tabs from the faceplate that were labeled differently on the faceplate itself. Ultimately, I only needed the faceplate trim piece and had to remove about 15 out of 21 tabs with a saw to make it fit. But it looks outstanding so I am happy with the end result.

Pros: Looks like a factory install once all is said and done

Cons: Instructions are incorrect, only one piece was used but it was unclear that I did not need the rest of the pieces for my vehicle, had to saw off approximately 15 tabs to make the faceplate fit correctly.

While I'm glad this kit came with the car stereo, c/o Crutchfield, this thing was useless. The instructions and diagrams are horrendous. When I decided to go to their website, I was able to download the same instructions. Thanks. I searched for online pictures to see what this kit is supposed to do, to no avail. Unfortunately, since it is set up for so many cars, there is no clear way to determine what your application is supposed to look like. Ultimately, I ended up using a few of the pieces to piece-meal a kit together - God only knows what Metra wanted me to do with this kit. I had tons of pieces left (some pieces are probably normal), but I never was able to figure out their proper install method, as attaching the brackets they wanted me to would not allow the car stereo to actually fit in the dash. Whatever. Find another installation kit or find someone or some pictures of a stereo properly installed with the kit before relying on getting it installed with this. Metra should be ashamed of their instructions.

Pros: Lots of pieces to piece-meal the install of any stereo.

Cons: Instruction manual is terrible. Website is no help

Unfortunately, the quality of this kit has a lot to be desired. The tabs are easy to remove cleanly with a Dremel cut off wheel but directions from the manufacturer are vague and not all clearly marked on the trim plate. Following the directions from Metra, I cut off all the tabs except the 4 shown on the directions but the top of the trim plate had nothing to hold it into the dash cover resulting to a call to Crutchfield which promptly sent another one out free of charge to correct the issue. You will have to experiment before cutting to make sure your Metra kit works out correctly. Thankfully Crutchfield is always there to help and make everything right!

Pros: Crutchfield's customer service is the best!

Cons: Metra needs to step it up and put a little more effort into their products. Some stamped or raised letters on all the tabs would be beneficial along with better product testing and instructions.

Using this kit was the worst part of the install. I had to cut off nearly every tab for my 1997 Honda Accord. This is no easy task. Had to call customer support twice. Pictures do not clearly state which tabs to cut and all tabs are not labeled. The tiny sheet metal screws must have the points ground off or your radio will not go into the kit. I suggest putting it together first so that the screws will make threads in the plastic and then taking it apart and grinding the points of the screws off. I tried to force it and scratched my new radio. Once I finally had it installed, it looks good, but the face plate doesn't fit nearly as tight as the actual Alpine faceplate that came with the head unit. Unless you get this for free - look elsewhere.

Pros: Does the job - free

Cons: Hard to install - awful directions

Kit comes with many parts and pieces, but you will only need to reuse the factor headunit brackets (assuming you stay with double din) and kit provided faceplate frame. This frame has many tabs to remove, I kept some to ensure a snug fit vs. following instructions exactly, but anybody savvy enough to install units should be able to apply logical intelligence to figure this out. Key - don't break off more tabs than you foresee may be useful! Also - install the faceplate AFTER you have the headunit bolted back into the vehicle. The faceplate frame actually snaps on the honda panel opening , not the headunit. Driven and tested with thumping sound and no loose ends here on my install! I was leery of this kit from previous reviews, but I do feel it was worth the $ to seal off the gap between a new headunit and the dash panels.

2002 Honda Odyssey If there was a 0 star, I would've put that. First off, this kit requries you to cut out pieces based on your vehicle, which would be fine if it was actually correct. After cutting off certain tabs, and bending off others, I was ready to put the stereo in the car, only to find out the kit was completely wrong and didnt even fit in the slot. I had to shave some plastic off the car itself, cut more of the kit off, and no luck still. The screw holes didn't line up with the car. Decided to trash the entire kit and just use the factory mounts that were used with the stock radio. This worked perfectly! Crutchfield needs to stop shipping this kit out and just send some screws instead, informing customers to just use the factory mount already in the car. Now, I have to find a frame that will work because even that was wrong!

Pros: Couldn't find a single one; fun to break apart and throw at people? (not suggested)

Cons: Everything; Ship it straight back to Crutchfield if you get it and ask for a refund

Pioneer AVH-P3400BH Installation Kits

Paul C from Alexandria, Va on 1/6/2013

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is where Crutchfield comes up short...way short in my opinion. The instruction is too generic and it does not really explain how to put the kits together for my 2003 CRV (double bin). I try to fit the kits to the Pioneer P3400BH unit and it will not fit the way it should be. Since the instruction is not very helpful I just cannot get it to work. I ended up using the factory bracket (all I do it to ground off four little holding posts on the factory bracket so it lays flat again the side of the head unit for a good fit) and it works great! The face plate will not fit either! I have to do a little brute force to make it "kind of " work and it is better than leaving gap all around the head unit and the factory center panel. I wish Crutchfield re do this kits and provider better instruction for installation kits.

Pros: I can't really find too many positive to say about the kits on this purchase for the CRV 2003.

Cons: Install kits does not really work (lack of specific/detail instruction - at least for me).

The bracket doesn't stay in place - nothing on the receiver for it to snap into. The booklet has one figure that shows holes in the bottom side and the holes are actually in the top. But it doesn't matter in the long run - no holes in the receiver to put screws into on top or bottom

Pros: Won't stay in place

Cons: Nothing positive

Just like Matt in Columbus, I only used the faceplate in my 2005 CR-V. I was able to break the tabs it mentioned but other tabs seemed to be in the way of a proper fit. I wound up removing more tabs and now it won't "sit" properly in the space. I would love to know what product Matt used to finish his install. If it wasn't included in my order of a Pioneer AVH-P3400, I would have been rather upset. As this was a free add-on, I'll live with the part until I find a better part. (Maybe they should include a second faceplate so you can test the first one and get it right the second time!)

WOW I can't give this product ZERO STARS but I would. Not worth the trouble.

Pros: It's FREE.

Cons: Wouldn't pay $20.00 for this plastic junk. Nothing fit right on existing hole from former CD Player.

The only part of this kit that I used in 2003 Honda CR-V was the face frame. I was able to install Clarion CX609 using OEM radio brackets - only had to gently flatten (hammer) their centering stamp-out pins, as they didn't exactly match relative holes on Clarion's body. Measured brackets' positions before removing them, fit them to the new unit, slid whole thing into dash (make sure that the car side harness is out of the way) and it worked just fine, with a little fiddling. Clarion's face is slightly smaller than that of the OEM changer unit, and so I used kit's frame (trim as directed), and it did fit OK, though not perfectly - click on Crutchfield's picture here (it's actually CR-V) and look thoroughly for fine details. The only difference is that, possibly due to my usage of OEM brackets, my unit is protruding out maybe just a few mm more, compared to the pic - which is OK with me. Also, plastic tone and grain are not exact match to the surrounding parts - however, that's still better than facing glaring gap, as it would be otherwise. OK if you get it for free, as was my case here - thanks, Crutchfield!

It's a Metra 95-7801

Matt from Columbus, OH on 10/4/2009

2005 Honda CRV LX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This dash kit is a Metra 95-7801 (since Crutchfield doesn't specify it). I purchased it (not got it free with an order) for a double din unit I bought. I figured Crutchfield's kits would be the best and didn't want to run out to the local car audio store. For my purposes at least (a 2005 Honda CR-V), it was definitely not the best option. There weren't tabs that aligned with the mounting holes on my dash. So I returned it and bought another kit. The kit's material itself is decent enough. It's not as nice as the other one I bought, but it wasn't terrible either. Crutchfield was good about accepting the return, but I wish they would have specified what the kit actually was ahead of time.

It was a pretty snug fit. You may have to break off more tabs on the sides than you have done before (if you have installed a new head unit before) When it's in its in. I've tried removing it once before and it is quit a task. I say that because I had a diffrent one in before (not facrotry, another after market) That one came out like butter which is nice but you also have to think of theft. No one will be stealing my head unit unless they saw into the dash. So when you are ready to put it in make sure everything is hooked up correctly and you don't plan to ever remove it. Goodluck hope this helps!

It's on my 2001 oddesey it's a really poor kit the sides don't fit into the center peace with the radio on and when you push it it sometimes the breaks the center price in half I just use the center bezel peice with factory brakes it doesn't lock but at least you can't see the whole around the radio
