Mediocre fit and quality, but in the end it worked.
John from MYAKKA CITY on 1/25/2021
2010 Toyota Tacoma
Came with a broken tab to mount it. Luckily, some careful gluing and melting got it to work. The plastic mounting brackets are flimsy and the fit was a bit rough. More "customizing" was required to get the hazard button to work freely and not hang up. Installed in the dash it looks good and has an acceptable fit. A better quality option would be nice to see.
Pros: Exact match for color and texture.
Cons: Cheaply made.

I like the look of this, but the plastic brackets have difficulty holding the stereo, therefore, it bounces around when you drive. I called Crutchfield and they have no answer. If possible, I would get a metal option (which Crutchfield doesn't have, but should sell as an upgraded option). I am going to go to a couple of local shops to see if I can get something more secure from them.

Metra 95-8214T Dash Kit
Crutchfield customer from Brea, CA on 11/24/2020
It looks good installed. I like the textured finish that matches the HVAC panel below.
Pros: Looks good, easy to install once the hazard switch issue was resolved (see the cons).
Cons: At least on the one I received, there was some flashing around the hazard switch which caused the switch to stick and not turn off. I had to trim the opening with an X-Acto knife to create clearance for the switch to work properly. Also the plastic mounting brackets for the head unit are a bit cheap; I would have preferred metal brackets.

Great Trim Package for 2007 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield customer from Puyallup, WA on 9/28/2020
2007 Toyota Tacoma
The faceplate matches perfectly to the factory dash. Snapped right into place, although moving the Emergency Flasher/Clock assembly was a little challenging. The trim fit the receiver well too, and the compliments I received on the install tell the story. I'm very happy with this trim package. On a Toyota Tacoma, reuse the metal brackets off of the original receiver. The plastic brackets leave you open to breakage when reinstalling in dash.
Pros: -Fits and snaps in perfectly without modification -Matches original factory dash color and style
Cons: -Plastic mounting brackets are flimsy, subject to breakage while installing the receiver in the dash

Almost looks like a factory piece. Brackets are plastic and a little wobbly, there was some flashing I had to file, and it requires a bit of twisting and bending to make everything fit, however it is close enough to the OEM dash that you would not notice unless someone pointed it out to you. Crutchfield customer from Yardville, NJ on 7/16/2020

The screws supplied with the radio are "tapered" for a flat fit against the bracket when connected to the radio. However the plastic brackets supplied with the kit do not have tapered holes. The screws were therefore too short to reach the indented radio screw holes (see attached pics). I called Crutchfield support and the fellow I spoke to knew right away what the issue was. He said he also had the same issue because the manufacturer changed the bracket design. He suggested marking the bracket with a pencil where the holes matched the radio holes, and then use a 3/8" drill bit and lightly and slowly drill into the bracket holes (taking care not to go all the way through) so the screws are flat against the bracket. That worked and I was able to screw the bracket to the radio. I took away 1 star away because the brackets should have had tapered holes.
Pros: Kit design is perfect for my radio.
Cons: Brackets need to be re-designed .. or non-tapered screws need to be included in the kit.

Fitment Issues, but Mostly Ok
Jonathan from THOMPSONS STN, TN on 3/15/2020
2005 Toyota Tacoma
I had a few issues with the Metra kit. I had to play with the fitment to get it to work. It isn't perfect but I'd say around 90%. The mounts are plastic and the screws will deform the mounting as you screw it into the radio The smaller inner bezel fits over the stereo and snaps into the plastic mounts. The outer bezel uses only 4 of the 5 OE mounting points. I wish it also had the 5th mounting point at the top center Once snapped in place in the outer bezel, the hazard switch would get stuck. I had to work with it to get it in a place where it wasn't. The sides of the outer bezel don't stay flush with the inner bezel. Again, these are probably just nit picky and while not perfect the fit is still decent. If there was another option, though, that offered a better fit I would definitely consider it.

Nice Dash Kit for 2005 Tacoma!
Crutchfield customer from Henderson, NV on 2/8/2020
2005 Toyota Tacoma
Chose the Metra Dash Kit rather than the competitor based on various user ratings and faceplate texture/color. All dash clips, screws, brackets, and additional parts listed were in the package. The assembly was easy and looks good in my 2005 Tacoma. The faceplate texture is not an exact match to the Tacoma dash, but pretty close. And, there is a very minor difference in color shade, but that could be due to the weathering of a 15 year old truck. I did not expect a perfect match and am very happy with the kit. I did notice that the when attaching the Clock/Airbag assembly to the faceplate that the screws split two of the standoffs. The screws tightened OK, so I am hopeful they will hold. Since the other two standoffs did not split, and because I am not heavy-handed, I sort of think that either the walls of two cracked standoffs are too thin, or the pre-drilled holes are a little small.
Pros: - all parts made for a nice fit - faceplate texture and color
Cons: - couple of split screw standoffs during assembly (screws still secure...so far)

Buy Scosche install kit.
Crutchfield customer from Delanson, NY on 11/18/2019
Only pro on Metra kit is the finish matches the silver pimpled trim around the HVAC controls. This faceplate only uses 4 of the original 5 clips. The top doesn't conform to the contours, both corners stick up. Plastic radio mounts didn't have the correct holes for my Kenwood DMX706s, tried reusing the stock metal mounts, that made radio sit too far inside dash to use trim piece, even if it did love up straight. Ordered the Scosche kit, plastic mounts have slats cut, instead of holes. I was able to make Scosche kit line up near perfect. It's grey and smooth, like the hazard switch. Uses all 5 factory clips, and fits flush with the rest of the dash. TL;DR Metra is prep, Scosche fit perfect.

Two Right Bracketsin Only in the Kit
Sam from Cottage Grove, OR on 8/29/2019
2009 Toyota Tacoma
The kit came with two right side brackets, no left bracket was included, so because of that they were both unusable. I had to use the factory brackets and wedge washers between the bracket and the mount so it would hold the faceplate against the dash because the stock brackets won't hold the new faceplate. Also, I had to cut out a leftover piece of plastic from when it was molded so the emergency light switch so it would work. Last but not least, the radio is recessed in the dash kit so it is hard to adjust the volume. I had to glue an extension on the knob to make it easier.
Pros: Looks really good
Cons: Came with two right side brackets Radio is inset/recessed in this kit making it hard to use the volume knob

It's a good piece, just wish the centerpiece would attach to face instead of the cheap plastic brackets when using a factory metal brackets to mount the radio. Other then that and the hazard switch slightly binding on the faceplate. It does the job and looks good.
Pros: Makes the radio look as close to OEM as possible. I like it, right texture and grain!
Cons: If they ever improve on it. Have the bezel attach to the face instead of the cheap brackets so we can use the much more robust metal OEM brackets.

Looks just like the OEM faceplate. Some guys working on the vehicle thought it was the OEM radio. The trim ring fit perfectly. We did have a little trouble with the mounting brackets. The radio was able to move slightly due to there flexibility. But these brackets will work fine. They are super adaptable with holes that will fit most radios. We ended up re-using the OEM metal brackets. Made the radio more stable.

Good but not great
Charles from Santa Barbara, CA on 7/18/2019
2010 Toyota Tacoma
This was free with my new head unit and beggars can't be choosers. My main complaint is the plastic mounting brackets for the head unit, they are pretty flexible and it allows the head unit to wiggle around in the dash a bit more than I like. I found that putting a few grade 8 flat washers under the upper mounting tabs where they bolt into the dash helped shim the radio forward a bit and made the fit somewhat tighter and more stable.
Pros: Looks very close to the factory dash plate
Cons: The fit of the trim plate is just OK, not bad but could be better. The plastic mounting brackets are a little too flimsy.

Budget friendly, fitment leaves something to be desired!
Michael from Port Republic Md on 7/12/2019

Dash kit does fit the truck, however the fit to the radio face is not great. Seems secure in the dash no rattling and doesn't fall out, also the hazard button opening needed slight "massaging " so the button didn't stick. The plastic radio brackets seem secure once mounted.I may keep this time will tell but may want to try the schoche model for better fitment. If price is a factor this kit does work.
Pros: Inexpensive, does fit securely in dash.
Cons: Gaps around radio face, radio face filler panel doesn't fit well against dash panel

The plastic mounting brackets do not hold the unit securely in the dash. The surround did not line up well with the unit face plate that allows the unit to move around. I reported this to tech support and they are sending me the Scosche to try.

The texture design of the bezel matches the OEM design. But, the bezel does not mount flush along the top edge. See attached photo.
Pros: textured design on replacement bezel matches OEM bezel
Cons: using the supplied mounting bracket for the new Pioneer AVH-1550NEX and the purchased bezel, and ensuring that nothing is binding the installation, the top left and right corners of the bezel do not mount flush as compared to the OEM bezel

Great install kit. Didn't like the plastic brackets so re used factory radio ones and need to adjust with holes in aftermarket HU. Also need to leave all 4 bolts lose, hold HU up and install bezel first. If you want to match the silver color recommend painting the a/c vent bezel to match but not necessary.
Pros: Matches the old factory radio design
Cons: Plastic brackets and color slightly brighter than factory

It's decent enough
Crutchfield customer from Snohomish, WA on 3/4/2019
This isn't horrible - it's ok and does the trick. When all done, it looks nice and has a factory look. It is a bit of a pain to assemble as the radio trim doesn't attach to the front panel until it is all bolted together, making it a bit awkward / clumsy while trying to do that.
Pros: Looks good when done
Cons: When installing, it is more complex that just aligning the stereo - you have balance that, the front, the middle trim and the 2 support arms which don't really snap in

Couple of tips to save time
Gary from Leechburg, PA on 2/14/2019
2009 Toyota Tacoma
2009 Tacoma . Here's the skinny guys ..Throw away the plastic side brackets and use the metal ones from your oem radio. You will use 3 holes ,the top two have a t for toyota. The 4th hole is just off and not used.Next thing , carefully file the hazard warning opening top and bottom to get zero drag on the switch. When you mount the radio with oem brackets it will go in perfectly. Now ,put the lil trim ring over the radio while lining up the snap in tabs on the large cover. Keep lined up while clicking trim piece into dash . Done Could have been better ,but the fact I could use solid steel oem brackets made it nice. For the price paid for this stuff....its a win win.
Pros: Free , gets it done ,close match to OEM
Cons: If the trim ring was incorporated into the large piece it would be perfect .

After installing about 6 times. Using a heat gun to bend the PLASTIC MOUNTS, some electrical tape, using only three bolts because of twisting and using washers to space the radio correctly it's in. I'm sure I'll have to do it again after it starts to rattle. Not a fan. The faceplate Looks good when installed but needed to keep clock/flasher switch assembly mounting screws 1/8 turn loose from seating so switch would not stick. If this had worked correctly the radio would have been done in 30 min. However, 3 separate days of work, an hour a day, and it's finally acceptable. The real sad part is I'm ordering the steering control for this later on and I'll have to go through some more of this.

Use the trim, pitch the brackets.
Bryan from Owatonna, MN on 11/27/2018
2008 Toyota Tacoma
Regardless of how much I tried, I could not get the stereo and radio housing to position exactly where they should within the main trim panel. Because the mounting brackets are plastic, they have too much flex. It took many tries to get it close and it still was not right. I could also feel the stereo move slightly when touching the screen/knob/buttons. I finally decided to try the factory steel mounting brackets, which made the stereo feel very solid. Since the radio housing is designed to snap into the plastic mounting brackets, I had to position the housing over the stereo and install the trim panel over it. This resulted in perfect positioning of the stereo and housing within the opening and a rock solid feel. Could also glue the housing to the back of the trim panel, then install... The kit also caused some interference with the hazard light button. The button rubs on the left side and can get stuck in the "on" position. I was able to tweak the positioning slightly to make it work, but you can still see that it's off a bit. Since this kt is vehicle specific, I would expect tighter tolerances and equal quality/feel of the factory trim. I'm upgrading my stereo, why would I want to downgrade my trim in the process? The trim just doesn't have the same feel and precise/secure fit as the factory trim. Fit and finish is about 98%. Need that extra 2% to be perfect.
Pros: You can get the job done, but may require some adaptation. Pretty close match to factory trim.
Cons: Flex in the mounting brackets. Interferes with hazard light button.

I installed this in my 2005 Tacoma. The silver bezel looks factory but I cant get the radio bezel on the radio and the big silver bezel in the center of the dash together. The install instructions are not good. Rate the instructions a 1. I can see how it all should look and IF I can get it like that its a 5 star but I have been working on it on and off for a week. The plastic side brackets are flimsy.
Pros: Good concept but dont like the plastic mounting brackets.
Cons: Can get it all in the dash together. The radio mounts fine but is very wiggly, and I cant get the radio bezel on.

Puts a nice finish on the installation
Gary from Granite Falls, NC on 10/16/2018
2006 Toyota Tacoma
Used this unit to install a Pioneer AVH-201ex unit in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. Product looks OEM now that it is installed. The trim band that gives that final smooth look snaps on 2 tabs on either side of the radio. The face plate wanted to keep popping off. I put 2 very small screws in each side - going through the back edge of the face plate and the tabs.
Pros: Looks really good once it's in. Uses Toyota's factory snap in contact points.
Cons: Might have to do a little finagling to get to unit sit in the dash just right - but it is achievable.

Levi from Boise, ID on 9/19/2018

I wish I could say this is an awesome product, ordered two of them... Overall it goes in just like any other dash kit but that's about where the "easy" part ends. Regardless of any sort of adjustment I cannot get a right fit out of this lit, the faceplate surrond that clips to the stereo won't line up with the dash trim, the plastic stereo mounts seem to twist and pull the stereo out of square with the dash so you practically have to find ways to shim the stereo so it will hold square with the dash kit. I went through two of these because the first one showed up broken. Second one at least clipped in properly. I just don't know, Im seriously baffled that both the scoshe and metra kits are so imperfect and that there isn't one other company out there that could do this better.
Pros: Looks clean if you can get it to sit flush, black color is nice
Cons: No amount of adjustment can make this thing fit correctly, one bump and the face plate will pop behind the dash trim piece and then you have to pull everything apart to adjust it again.

Although the texture (in my opinion) is nicer than the Scosche version, I believe it is an overall inferior product due to two main factors: 1) The supplied receiver brackets are made of a plastic composite that is too soft, a double DIN will cause slight bending. 2) The cover itself has no apparent method to secure itself to the rest of the dash.

Nice free kit
Kris from Petersburg, IN on 12/21/2017
This dash kit looks exactly like the factory dash in my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. I have read complaints that it is cheap and flexible plastic. If you are careful when installing your head unit, you will not have any issues. I did use a little hot glue to eliminate any rattles that might happen later and it made me feel it was more secure. I also read that the texture was messed up on the bottom of the front plate. There were 2 spots where the texture had been smudged a little, but once the unit is installed, you can't even see it when you're looking for it. The fit and finish with this install kit looks perfect in my truck. Just take your time and be careful when installing.
Pros: Factory look Good fit Makes install look professional
Cons: The brackets aren't metal, but they work fine once installed.

Used this kit to install a new radio in my 2005 Tacoma. Fit and finish were good - matched the existing dash well. I was a bit skeptical about the plastic radio mounts, but they seem to be OK so far and don't allow any movement. The opening for the radio left a bit of a gap at the top of the radio face that could be seen looking up from below; before I installed the assembly, I put a strip of black plastic electrician's tape over the gap on the inside just to ensure that any light present in the dash would not show through. The result is an invisible and easy fix.
Pros: Good match to factory dash.
Cons: Would have preferred metal radio mounting brackets and a more positive mounting method to the front bezel.

Used this for install of Sony XAV-AX100 in 2011 Tacoma. Chose this over Scosche because texture matches perfectly with factory. The plastic mounting brackets could be more substantial, but thus far they have held up. Installed easily and looks great. Final facing is a little less secure than factory, but has not popped off or had any problems after 2 weeks. We'll see how it does off road next summer! Highly recommend for double din Tacoma installs.
Pros: Factory look & texture easy install
Cons: Plastic brackets (held up thus far, but metal would be preferable) Not quite as snug as factory (maybe to be expected)

cornelius from Pittstown, NJ on 9/30/2017
very poor instructions , if you are not comfortable in doing this installation get help, the instructions are very basic and cover multiple products. the kit itself did not work well with my truck and stereo that I purchased. The side of the trim is right up against the volume button so if you got large fingers it will be almost impossible to use the volume button.
Pros: free
Cons: does not work with my truck or stereo

Good but not great
Terry from Corona, CA on 9/10/2017
2010 Toyota Tacoma
This is a good kit but I had a couple issues. After installing everything unit was off center so I had to loosen mounting screws, center unit in trim plate then tighten screws. Hopefully it stays put. It would be helpful to put that in instructions. Also, the plastic seems kinda cheap but we'll see how it lasts.
Pros: It worked
Cons: Need to center unit before final tightening. Cheapish plastic, hope it holds up.

Luis from Goodyear, AZ on 9/5/2017

It works. There's really not much to this product. When ordering it says that the color is gray but in reality it's silver, just like the factory radio faceplate. There are 4 phillip head screws that come with it and they should probably have a smaller size head. They're used for the lower section where the clock and airbag display are.
Pros: It works
Cons: The supplied phillip head screws should have a smaller size head.

Best choice, but expect to fix problems
John from Eugene, OR on 8/18/2017
2006 Toyota Tacoma
While a scosche better than the competition, Metra could use better QC. I had to ask Crutchfield for a replacement because the original unit had scratches and casting issues. Despite getting another (without any hassle - Thanks, Crutchfield) I still had to sand off bits and repaint the entire face to match the Tacoma's interior color. Metra's is the closest to acceptable of the two brands available, but it seems a shame that Metra can't get their Chinese partners to provide better final build quality.
Pros: It fits Styling
Cons: Requires finishing (sanding/painting) Difficult to center/square at install Plastic parts that should be metal

The package was missing bracket F and the clips were too short. The clips did not lock in on the bezel and pulled off after pushing the bezel in. I took the clips from the factory original and they worked fine. I have not contacted Crutchfield yet on either issue. My son fabricated a bracket F from the factory original and it is working OK for now.

Not bad, and it was nice that they threw it in for free with the stereo purchase.
Pros: Looks very nice and appears to be factory installed.
Cons: The directions could have been better on my model as the clock and hazard light removal can be difficult if you haven't done it before. Top portion didn't want to snap all the way down, but I'm the only one that notices it since I did the install. Maybe I should have used the stock metal braces instead. Not taking it out now!

Great match from factory dash cover. Texture and color are expertly done to match. Fit perfectly around factory components and new double DIN aftermarket radio. Seats perfectly and flush to the dash. A bit brighter in color versus adjacent dash, but hardly noticeable.
Pros: Perfect fit to new aftermarket radio and factory dash Looks like factory equipment Great match on texture and finish to factory
Cons: Finish on the bottom was a bit rough and appears to be the injection molding point. Cannot be seen, but was rougher than expected.

Bruce from Dallas, TX on 6/6/2017

I thought the plastic mounts were not terribly rugged. also the screw adjustment slots did not allow for the plastic frame to be moved forward enough for the frame to fit securely into the over all radio dash frame.

Not the best dash kit
Mike from Morrisville, VT on 5/31/2017
Maybe it was partly the vehicle and partly this kit, but putting a double din head unit in a 2007 was fairly complicated, compared to same era Subaru's and the previous generation Tacoma. The fit is not the best where the kit meets the bottom of the unit and the hazard flasher button gets hung up when it's put on. I also do not like the plastic mounting brackets that go from the faceplate to the sides of the head unit. They felt a bit flimsy. I would have much preferred a metal part for this as the original dash mounting system has. Not sure that there are any alternatives out there.
Pros: Looks just like the original stereo surround
Cons: Not an exact fit and a bit flimsy

Although everything fit together fine, I wanted to still use my old factory radio metal mounting brackets instead of the plastic universal brackets. The plastic had to be used in order to use the bezel that fit around the JVC KW-R925BTS stereo I purchased. The outside finish of the dash kit matched what I removed from my Toyota dash so thumbs up for that.
Pros: Pieces match the color and look of previous dash
Cons: Cannot use old factory brackets

Worked pretty good. The plastic brackets are a little weird, I would rather have had metal ones like the stock radio came with but they won't transfer over to this faceplate. It works and the faceplate matched my dash perfectly. Getting the hazard light and clock thing out of the factory faceplate was described as "challenging" - they were not kidding. I probably destroyed my factory plate in the process so there was no going back!

Tacoma Faceplate - Poor Design
Rob from Sahuarita, AZ on 3/5/2017
2009 Nissan Altima
Absolutely the worst product I've utilized for a stereo install in over 35 years! *Would recommend Crutchfield look for a different supplier for a dash kit for a Toyota Tacoma. The fitment of the exterior dash faceplate was good, being the black one, but it has one less tab to 'secure' it than Toyota's original. The hazard/clock assembly came with a broken tab out of the bag so I couldn't secure it properly and square it up to the dash plate. Probably the Most disappointing part is that the stereo brackets are Flimsy Plastic! Are you kidding me? How does Crutchfield allow such inferior products on his line up? For a DDIN stereo, you Need steel plates, the way Toyota designed it! Absolutely not up to the task. The fitment does Not allow a complete smooth finish, it is off, crooked recessed. After screwing with the securing bolts, it's a loss. The flimsy, soft plastic mounts will simply not permit a smooth and squared finish. For this, I'm incredibly disappointed if not angered at coming to learn this from a first time Crutchfield purchase. In my life, I would have never thought they would provide such a crappy and unresolving product line up. I actually used to do stereo installs in Washington D.C. for over five years so from an experienced POV, this is shameful. I would Not recommend this face kit for a DDIN stereo. I see that some people have attempted to reuse the original steel brackets and somehow glue or attach the faceplate on.
Pros: Color, style looks genuine.
Cons: Flimsy plastic all around makes fitment impossible. Fear plastic parts will not last in Tucson heat! Does not stay secured in the dash (Pops out of dash to easily). Does not hold radio straight in dash. (After an hour of adjusting and removing the radio; still crooked) The stereo adapter will not stay secure in the face place because all of it is easily jarred out of place. It can't handle normal driving and the stereo unit moves easily from what should be a fixed position.

Pretty good dash kit. Got because Crutchfield recommended. This matches texture on dash already. I think the other one they have is smooth. Plastic brackets are flimsy as everyone says. So you have to hold and push into right spot as you tighten bolts. I see it sitting out slightly from dash. Not sure anybody else notices.
Pros: Matches textured areas, color match pretty close, decent instructions with it
Cons: Flimsy plastic brackets, fit is not perfect

Good kit, but not 100% turnkey, for a good outcome you need to reuse the metal brackets off the factory radio, and the factory clips, I also used a little double sided 3m foam tape on the sides to take out any rattles, now it looks factory clean and is plenty strong. The face looks factory and is a good match, but again a little fitting and common sense install skills are required. 08' TRD Tacoma and Apline INE-928HD.
Pros: Looks factory, good finish.
Cons: Bad brackets and clips, best results require reuse of factory metal brackets and clips

Wondered about how well a double DIN would look in the Taco. No worries at all. Looks as good as stock with the fit and dropped right in.
Pros: The best part was probably the two piece fitment. Made it easy to put the receiver in solid, then follow up with the trim piece along with the clock/hazard install.
Cons: The clock/hazard install area wasn't as good a fit as the rest. Works, but looks just a little off (probably no one else will notice, but I do).

Poor Quality
Kevin from Florida on 8/26/2016
2009 Toyota Tacoma
Really not impressed with this product at all. I purchased it to mount my Pioneer AVH-4100NEX and although it does the job, it does it very poorly. The mounting brackets are plastic and very flimsy. The radio bounces around in the dash with any little bump in the road and forget going off-road unless you take your radio out before hand. The clips that come with the dash kit area also low quality and have already worn out after having to remove them a few times to try and fix the mounting issues with the brackets. I am really surprised that this is the only real option for Tacoma owners with the black dash scheme. I am just going to have to look for an alternative option, even if it means customizing something. The current setup just will not work
Pros: Texture of the kit looks nice.
Cons: Mounts are too flimsy to be of any use. Clips are useless so try to keep the OEM ones. Only 2 mounting points with the new brackets vs the 4 that are used with the OEM brackets.

Brian from Mcallen, TX on 8/15/2016

I was a bit let down with this kit. First of all, there were pieces missing (mounting screws and dash clips). Luckily I was able to pick up a pack of screws at a local big hardware store and I pulled the dash clips off my factory panel to make it work. I will say Crutchfield was ready to send me a new kit no questions asked but I already had everything torn apart and didn't want to go that route if at all possible. Secondly, the panel and trim pieces feel flimsy compared to the factory panel. Since they are not as stout, it is hard to get everything snapped into place, the pieces want to flex and try to pop out. I know there aren't many options out there but it just seems this could easily be made more similar to the factory pieces. Overall it works and I am generally happy with it but it could be better.

Metra 95-8214T Dash Kit Review
Bruce from Coushatta, LA on 7/27/2016
Overall the kit did well. The side mounting brackets are a little flimsy, but once the unit is back in the truck, it is ok. It was very easy to switch over the OEM clock and flasher unit to the Metra bezel. Actually, it is easier to put that bar into the Metra bezel than take it out of the stock bezel. You get new clips for the Metra bezel and that was nice or you can reuse your old ones. It looks great in the dash. I had the stock gray bezel and switched to the black bezel and it really breaks up all the gray/silver in the middle of the dash.
Pros: Texture on bezel looks great with the OEM materials around it. Easy install and looks great when all done.
Cons: Side mounting brackets are a little flimsy, but once the unit is installed back into the dash, it firms up.

Looks Nice, but........
Captain Mac from Colchester, VT on 6/9/2016
2005 Toyota Tacoma
After getting this installed, the stereo moved around in the mount due to the lack of strength of the plastic brackets. The factory stereo that came out used steel brackets. While the new face plate matched my truck's factory interior quite nice, the face plate only had 4 clips to the factory's 5 and do not stay in place should you be driving down a bumpy road. Combine that with the flimsy plastic brackets and you have a very cheap, yet good looking, installation. I called to technical support to see if maybe I had simply gone the cheap route and wanted to buy metal stereo mounts. Nope, only plastic are available.
Pros: Looks good sitting in the driveway.
Cons: -Plastic stereo mounts have no structural integrity. -Face plate has one less mounting clip and will not stay secure. -The stereo adapter will not stay secure in the face place because all of it is easily jarred out of place. -All of this looks good, but it can't handle normal driving and the stereo unit moves easily from what should be a fixed position.

Mediocre
Tacomafan from Phoenix, AZ on 3/30/2016

I'm not sure if there is a better bracket out there to replace the factory one, but this one is not high quality. The flasher and clock don't sit quite the same, the pattern on the plastic isn't perfectly even, and it seems a bit flimsy. That said, it did install easily and sits almost perfect. I was worried that it would bounce out of place because the mounts are plastic and the clips didn't feel secure. However, after two hours of off roading everything is still in order.
Pros: No issue with bracket coming out.
Cons: Not the same quality as Toyota.
