Customer Q&A

Q
How does the head unit sit in the kit? Is it flush or is it in set on the bottom?
[ Matthew  Feb 16, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
I have mounted it both ways, but I like the flush mount option better. You'll have to cut part of the inner dash for that option on some vehicles.

Q
What kind of stereo is this supposed to fit around. I have an aftermarket standard double din stereo that I am installing in my 2010 Subaru Outback and it wonâ??t fit around this stereo. It isnâ??t wide enough and I see no other options. Please let me know if Iâ??m missing something?

A
It was a perfect fit for my 2011 Legacy. The black end pieces attached through screws on the side of the radio. The side slots on those end pieces should match up with the holes for screws to attach the radio to the dash. The other piece slides over the front of the radio. Remember to take off the metal casing that come with the after market radio.

I installed this around the Pioneer 4200NEX unit and it fit perfectly. That is a double DIN unit and no issues. Is it possible that your unit has some sort of frame around it? Maybe compare external dimensions of Pioneer and yours?

A
I have this adapter and the head unit I have is a pioneer AVH-4000NEX which fits perfectly. I am curious to know what head unit you have.

A
Well it didn't fit around my aftermarket double din stereo HIPZO DVD GPS Backup Camera double din stereo. It's not wide enough. I ordered a different kind for 2010 Outback. If that one doesn't work then I'll have to alter one of them somehow.

A
I think this is the same size as the factory dash trim piece. It should accommodate any double DIN stereo. Worked fine in my 2010 Outback.

Q
Will this work for a motorized head unit?
[ Tim  Mar 16, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
This will depend largely on your vehicle and the receiver you choose. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.
