It functions as it should be it makes the radio protrude 2-3 inches more than the stock one. This results in the radio nearly touching the gear shift
Pros: Functions as it should
Cons: Not aesthetically pleasing. Would be better if it was more flush with console.

1996 Chevrolet S10
Fits great, holds the unit in place and that's a hard job to do when you have the strong 2.2l in a dime. Even in the harshest acceleration when other units would be flying through your back glass this thing hangs in there like a hair in a biscuit. Great product!
Pros: Slick clean design that will be the focal point of your interior
Cons: Nothing this thing is great

I'm disappointed that the tuner bracket takes up two spaces. I was expecting it to only take up one space which would have allowed me to be able to install a second pocket to put some more of my stuff into. It does not seem like this would be a difficult thing to accomplish now that I have seen inside that dash area. Except for that the bracket and installation works well. Not sure if it was engineered into the tuner bracket by Metra but somehow a place on the back of the bracket winds up supporting the rear of the tuner. Makes me feel better about stability.
Pros: Gives great confidence that the tuner installation will stay put as expected.
Cons: Takes up two spaces. This is very adversive and disappointing. Probably has more to do with the available space in the Sonoma dash behind the head unit but the tuner bracket sticks out quite a bit and the steering mounted gear-shift just misses it. Instructions leave a bit to be desired but I usually over-install anyway just to make sure it's mounted very stable.

Pros: Durable and good looking, once it's mounted it goes into the dash easily.
Cons: The instructions are kinda vague, I just had to work with it till I got it figured out. The instructions are good on mounting the unit in the dash, just not the radio to the adapter.

I can't give an honest review of this product because I didn't use it. Gave it the 4 stars so it didn't hurt the rating because I'm sure the product works well. Let me explain, there are 2 available dash kits for a 96 chevy blazer. This one and the scosche gm1515. They both do the job however for appearance and personal preference I like the scosche. The major difference is the metra has the stereo stick out about an inch and a half from the dash but requires no modification. The scosche requires some minor alteration by removing a small area of plastic from behind the radio that anyone can do in a couple of minutes(IMO). The scosche gives a cleaner more factory look and it is well worth the extra effort. Crutchfield as always went out of their way to make me happy by sending me the scosche kit after I read the reviews and found out this info but had already received the metra with the stereo. I am and always will be their customer(ha,ha, showing my age).

Flipout DVD receiver install
Kevin (1995 S10 Extreme) from East Brunswick, NJ on 12/2/2014
1995 Chevrolet S10
I recently replaced the head-unit in my daily driver (2011 Lancer Ralliart) and since the Clarion DVD flipout monitor that i was taking out of it had nothing wrong with it, I wanted to put it in my S10 pickup (work/winter car). I went to order the dash kit, but Crutchfield said that flip out DVD monitors would not work with this kit in the S10s ect.. I took some measurements before ordering and I was pretty sure it would fit. Once the kit arrived (very quickly I might add), I installed it in the dash. I slid the DIN sleeve in, set the tabs, wired up the harness and slid in the receiver. And now for the moment of truth (dramatic music enssues). The 7in screen came all the way out and functioned just as it did in the Lancer. After reading some of the other reviews it seems that people had issues with the screen hitting their shifter. Since I drive a 5-speed I did not have this issue. Crutchfield might want to review their statement and say that flipout DVD receivers will only work in vehicles with manual transmissions. So all in all it was a fairly easy installation as far as the dash kit was concerned; running all new wires for the door and dash speakers and wires to the amp is an entirely different story. But, the end result of an amazing soundstage in this tiny 3 seater is quiet astounding. System includes: Infinity 4x6 in dash, Infinity 6`3/4 in door, Kicker shallow 10in subwoofer behind seats, and a Kicker 3-channel amp to power it all up.
Pros: Easy install, quality materials, prompt delivery
Cons: Black kit and gray dash (not serious, but worth mentioning)

Worked well for me
Pros: Easy assembly
Cons: Needed some directions in the package. I don't care for how far it sticks out from the dash. If I had a newer stereo with a face that came down, it wouldn't work well with a stick shift.

Does not fit application Cructchfield says it does, but otherwise good
Dave C. from Richland WA on 6/20/2014
This mounting bracket is good quality, good plastic molding and fits the dash well. However, Crutchfield said it fits the 95 S-10 with a stereo with slide out video screen and it does NOT. The mounting bracket places the stereo where the slide out screen hits the shift lever and that causes vehicle control problems.

This kit worked perfectly and was fairly simple to install. It takes a little bit of getting used to because of the color and the protrusion. But the protrusion is because of the 1997 Blazer design, not this kit.

I bought this product for My 1997 Chevy S10 2.2L installation was a breeze nothing super hard anyone can do it. Shipment as always with Crutchfield was fast, the price i believe was good, the quality of the item is good, not the best but good. I do however did not like so much the fact that the stereo now sticks out a litttle further and is not flush with the rest of the dash but is ok, is something one can get used to.

Forcecon from Washington State on 10/13/2010
1995 Chevrolet S10
Kind of a pain to install this in my 1995 S10 but more Chevrolet's fault. Instructions were pretty good but I don't recommend this install for a first timer...have to take lots of interior panels out in order to release the factory stereo and in my case had to rewire all the speakers (wires to doors were shorted out and were no factory speakers in dash location). Nothing terribly complex but more work than expected. Very happy with it now. Even though vehicle requirements result in the stereo sticking out a bit from the dash it is still a good looking installation.

Put your make, model and year in for your car and pick what you want and everything else you may need pops up as well. Pick what you need and then it all comes with a vehicle specific manual that is step by step which makes it fast and easy. I could not have had a better experience.

Installed in a 97 Sonoma pickup. The kit is black and my trim is gray. Doesn't look bad but doesn't match. I had to trim one area to clear a bolt on adjacent part of the dash. The kit doesn't support the back of the stereo like the OEM installation did. This hasn't caused a problem but seems like it wouldn't give enough support. Has been installed for 2 months and no problems other than these.

I got my new aftermarket player from a friend, but no where in town sold an install kit for my 96 S-10 Blazer. I was very happy to find this item on Crutchfield. It fits PERFECTLY! It slides a very little bit BUT its not from this kit, it's because I don't have the metal rim that fits around the cd player so that's my fault. But even without it it only moves when I force it to. Product looks and fits great. Recommend to everyone
