Product Research

Vehicle Compatibility: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) is designed specifically for select 2004-2009 Chevy and Pontiac vehicles. The 99-3303 allows you to replace your GM factory stereo with an aftermarket stereo to improve the overall sound quality of your car audio system. The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) is compatible with the following vehicles.

Make Model Year
Chevy Malibu 2004-2007
Cobalt 2004-2006
Pontiac G6 2004-2009
Note: Please consult Crutchfield's Vehicle Selector to see if your vehicle is compatible.

Automotive Install Kit w/ Integrated LCD: The installation kit features a recessed opening that will fit most single-DIN aftermarket head units. The kit features high-grade ABS plastic and is contoured to match your vehicle's factory dashboard color and texture. The integrated LCD retains temperature, fuel, oil, and door opening warnings. You can adjust the contrast and brightness of the display. The install kit also includes three soft-touch buttons (Info/Menu/Enter) with changeable LED backlighting (amber or green).

Wiring Harness: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) also includes the wiring harness which connects to the install kit, your vehicle's factory radio harness, and your new aftermarket head unit. The 10- and 12-pin clear connectors of the harness plug into the back of the installation kit, while the 24-pin blue connector plugs into your vehicle's factory radio harness. On vehicles equipped with OnStar, connect the 12-pin black connector the factory OnStar harness. The un-terminated wire leads will need to be spliced or crimped onto your new aftermarket head unit's wiring harness (installation tools and accessories sold separately).

Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The ignition power source of most GM vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The 99-3303 is designed to retain this feature.

OnStar Compatible: The Metra Turbo Kit 2 (99-3303) is designed to retain the factory OnStar emergency services system that would normally be lost when your factory radio is replaced by an aftermarket head unit. You can adjust the volume of the OnStar announcements from the kit's soft-touch buttons.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
It's required to add to a stereo to retain your driver info and chimes [ Bud  Nov 13, 2018 ]
To retain the Driver Information Center on my '07 Malibu and allow installation of a modern single-DIN receiver. [ Forrest  Aug 15, 2018 ]
Wanted to keep the Driver Information Center (DIC) - trip odometer, oil life, lights timing . . . [ Richard  May 15, 2018 ]
I wanted to keep the features this kit provides. [ Thomas  Jan 15, 2018 ]
So it can connect to the radio [ Blake  Sep 07, 2017 ]
to make the radio fit [ Bruce  Aug 23, 2017 ]
It was included with the installation kit. [ LARELL L  Jun 17, 2017 ]
Ordered it to make sure DIC still worked on car. [ michael  Jan 23, 2017 ]
The Metra is one of two products I have found that will allow me to keep my DIC working. I have a Pontiac G6 GT Convertible and without the DIC you will have no idea what your folding top is doing when (not if!) it malfunctions. Also there are many factory options that can be changed through the DIC. In my opinion this adapter is a must have due to the ingenious decision by GM engineers to put the DIC integral with the radio! [ Thomas K.  Sep 20, 2016 ]
Because its the kit that i needed. [ MARIO  Sep 14, 2016 ]
Factory radio was too expensive to replace, this kit was cheaper on this site than in store. [ Rahshad Elijah  Jun 20, 2016 ]
Advised by Crutchfield that this was the proper install kit for the radio I purchased. Went in flawlessly. Couldn't be happier! [ Mark  Mar 04, 2016 ]
Recommended by agent assisting me. [ Danah  Dec 04, 2015 ]

Will this show the confirmation for convertible top open and close?

It shows all the info that you radio does currently in your car. It's a great information center converter
[ Leslie  Aug 10, 2018 ]
I bought mine for my '05 Malibu Maxx. Works great. As far as being able to see if the convertible top is open or closed, I would suggest either turning your head or looking up. Aside from that, if you feel rain hitting your face, you should pull over and put the top up. '02 Z28 'vert' owner here.
[ David  Aug 10, 2018 ]
Yes it will.
[ Thomas K.  Aug 10, 2018 ]
Will this help me retain my factory command start as well?
[ JayRR  Nov 07, 2015 ]

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

What features does this keep within the radio. Like if I don't get this will I lose my oil reading and mileage readings??? That's all I really want to keep I don't have onstar so that's not a big deal.
[ Ivori  Jul 31, 2014 ]

It does display oil percentage reading, as well as TripA, and TripB. It will also show fuel economy. And it will be just as inaccurate as the stereo display was. '05 Malibu Maxx here. The top button is a PITA, BTW.
[ David  Aug 10, 2018 ]
Hi, i bought this not to loose my infos. I can see oil reading, there is mileage, avg speed, fuel economy reading, still see how many miles my fuel last and so on. I like it, like other people wrote, buttons not respond so well, but i can deal with it.
[ Jiri  Aug 01, 2014 ]
Hi Ivori H, When I installed this, I maintained every menu option and piece of info that I had before. This kit simply moves the display and buttons into a different area. The major issue I have with this is the buttons need to be pressed extra hard to register the press. Otherwise, this has worked extremely well for me.
[ AARON  Jul 31, 2014 ]
You will lose your oil life, fuel economy info and other information if you do not get the adaptor.
[ MAURICE  Jul 31, 2014 ]
Yes, I did a lot of research before purchasing this part and if you have a GM car with the car's computer in the radio then you need this part. It is called the Drivers Information Center and it HAS to be in the car somewhere. This not only controls the mileage and oil readings, but also controls the alarms, horn and a myriad of other things. At least as of the time I purchased this (a little over a year ago), this was the only solution to keeping all of the information required. Also, I read many forum postings about how if you don't have this, there is a 50/50 chance the car either won't start of your car alarm will not work properly. I decided not to chance it and installed this piece with a Kenwood stereo for Bluetooth connectivity. This thing is actually not all that nice, the buttons are very mushy and take 4-5 presses to get to cycle, and it does not look all that great, but it was worth it to get a nice stereo.
[ JESSE R  Jul 31, 2014 ]
You keep all that stuff. Not sure how accurate the oil readings are. But they are both still there if you install correctly.
