Once I figured out the order of things, the install is very good and works well. The instructions are worthless but it does seem to hold up well. Obviously you need this for installing, so the review is almost not needed but rest assured, if you think it's not gonna work, keep trying and it will fit... just barely.

Great Dash Kit!

Purchased the Metra 99-5808 Dash Kit from Crutchfield and this works great in our 06, Ford F250 Lariat. I'm installing a new Pioneer CD player and with this dash kit it fits great. Good pricing and delivery was great as well. I recommend Crutchfield and will purchase from them again when needed.

Perfect fit for a 2006 Focus. I drilled and Dremeled a 1/8" slot in the top edge and mounted my phone holder, which is designed to go into a CD slot.

I like that it allows for the standard sized radio to be installed where the DIN comes in the vehicle. It would be nice to have two choices. One with the storage tray and another that does not have storage. The one without storage would have one or two usb connectors. These are common in most newer vehicles. I have a 2005 Ford focus. Connections for usbs just didn't exist for this model. The stereo that I installed was an Alpine which has the usb in the back of the unit. I use it to connect flash drive. The Metra 99-5808 has two square hole in the storage tray. I thought the usb cable might go through one of these but they are just a little to small.

Not the most versatile dash kit

I could not get this dash kit to work properly with my Sony CDX-G3150UP CD player. I had to use my own screws to mount the dash kit mounting brackets to the Sony player. If there was some other way of doing this I couldn't figure it out and the directions were not very helpful. I also did not like that the dask kit was not very adaptable and I had to install it with the CD player on the top. I couldn't simply flip the kit over and install the cd on the bottom, because the dash kit screw holes did not match up to the holes in the Ford when doing it that way. In the end it worked. But clearer instructions and specifying the limitations prior to purchase would have been helpful. (Not that I'd have had any other choices, since there weren't any other dash kits to fit my 07 Ford Focus.)

Didn't quite fit like I wanted it to. It was off center by about 1/4 inches and didn't fit my alpine head unit. Had to make some modifications to get everything fit and took twice as long to install than it should've.

Fits well and looks really nice once installed. It was very difficult to get the new head unit's DIN sleeve into place, though. There are no tabs, slots, or other openings for the sleeve's retaining tabs to engage, nor a way to snap the sleeve into place without modifying its flanges, and the instructions were too vague to be of help. Especially confusing was the lack of explanation for installing the trim bezel. Coupled with the difficulty getting the DIN sleeve into the bracket, it was a real headache (and this was on a workbench). But once the cage and head unit were assembled, the rest of the installation was a breeze. It fits perfectly, matches the dash trim, and looks like a factory job.

Cover piece left over

The dash kit fits well, but the plastic cover piece that snaps in around the receiver did not fit over the curved front of the radio. I left it off and it looks OK. This means it is necessary to make a secure fit with the metal DIN sleeve into the large bracket or your radio will rattle and slide around. Not hard to do, but the snap in plastic frame would have been nice, but I was hesitant to pull out a knife and start trimming it to fit.

80% correct

I have removed and installed too many radios in my car. The (4) 7mm screws are 8.5 cm (3.5 in.) deep the face of the dash. I go to the school of hard knocks and followed the instructions 1 time. My fat fingers cannot grab those screws after loosening them. I almost had to get violent to dissemble the stuff and find the lost screw. I then got out a magnet to secure those screws. I will contact Crutchfield and Metra as the trim plate does not fit in correctly.

Worked great, first time.

This adapter worked great in my 2005 Focus. I had a little trouble mounting the DIN bracket, as the picture in the instructions was pretty small, but once you slide it in, it was pretty clear which pins needed to be bent to hold it in place. I was a bit worried putting it in that I would mount it to find that it would be off-center enough that the trim panel for the heater controls wouldn't fit, but they use genius method of pins into mounting holes to get in exactly the right spot. Sweet!

Alterations to fit 2007 Focus

The fit and finish on this product isn't the greatest. In order to actually fit in the dash of my 2007 Focus, I had to cut the plastic brackets down a bit. Other than that, it fit as-expected.

The adapter was easy to install, and the finished product looks good. Neither the radio nor the Installation kit came with the #10-32 screws needed to mount the adapter brackets to the radio. Fortunately, standard #10-32 ground screws common to electrical devices worked just fine.

Need Some Relief

The unit fits well int he Ford F250 we bought it for but there are no reliefs in the sides for the deck removal tools so it's pretty difficult to get the stereo out of the adapter once installed.

It's OK

It's cheap, but it works. It's all plastic, unlike the heavy aluminum mounting bracket of the original Ford/Delco radio. Unfortunately, you have to use the snap-in bezel that came with it, which was not a perfect fit, and I had to sand the plastic a little to get it to snap in perfectly. Also, unfortunately, the bezel that came with my new car stereo, which was better looking, would not fit and had to be removed. Also, you have to use the side rails to put it all together, but neither this kit nor the new car stereo came with the necessary screws to attach them. Other than that, it works, and fills the old hole nicely.

This should have been a 20 minute mounting job except that a crucial piece of instruction did not get included. I was leery of the plastic mounting brackets, but once everything was put together and installed it seems to be secure and solid enough. This is a good thing since there are not a whole lot of options available in the way of mounting kits. Once in the dash, it is functional, bland and looks a bit generic and plastic, but still quite acceptable. Time will tell of the plastic screw mounts will hold up to the rigors of automotive use.

I was disappointed that I could not chose if the storage area could be on the top or the bottom when installed. I would have liked to have it at the top but does look good with it below. I also was not happy with the way the radio mounted. It sat back too far in the mount and looked "goofy". I took alot of time to modife the filler plate provided to get the radio mount to fit inside it and sit flush.
