The fitment was pretty good, but it is just a hair off. Instructions were not definite, it was either/or, not this way for this model or that way for that model. 1st time for me.
Pros: It fits almost perfectly
Cons: Instructions lacking

Good quality materials and fits perfectly. My install on a 2011 F-150 required a Torx screwdriver to remove and reinstall the A/C controls. Metra's instructions mentions it but Crutchfield's doesn't.
Pros: Well made and fits great.

This kit is pretty good, but not perfect. I had to modify the single DIN part slightly to get it to house the aftermarket head unit I installed. I got it to work properly, but isn't a perfect fit. The other components of this kit are good and was very simple to figure out. Just make sure you fit everything and have things ready BEFORE you start start the installation process. It look me about an hour in modifications before it was ready for install.
Pros: Good finish and fitment.
Cons: Single DIN chassis may give you some grief.

Good fit and finish, poor stability
Crutchfield customer from St Louis, MO on 11/28/2021
2010 Ford F-150 XLT
I've had both this product and the Scosche. The Metra has a significantly better fit and finish. However, its design is inferior. I have a larger head unit with a floating screen and the Metra's mounting bracket has thinner more flexible plastic. This causes my head unit to be less than solidly mounted. I tried improving it with a metal back strap, but will likely go back to the Scosche kit in the end. I wish these kits came with metal brackets, or at least the option to purchase them.
Pros: fit and finish
Cons: does not mount as securely as I'd like

The trim bezel for the radio was a nightmare to install... never had trouble with any before... the clips were hitting the DIN framework... I couldn't get all four in, I cut off the bottom two and just clipped the top two and that was a miracle to get done even that way. Other than the trim/radio bezel everything went great... it has a much better finish and better matching finish that the ones I've installed in the past. Looks great.

Pros: Nice fit, nice finish.
Cons: If going with a floating style single din you may find it unsettling that you can yank your h.u. out so easily.

Decent Dash KIt - Poor Instructions
Edward A from BROWNSTOWN, MI on 9/18/2019
2010 Ford F-150 XLT
Nice dash kit. Very well made and I like the look feel of the flat finish. The instructions could have been a lot better. I had to guess on more than one occasion as to what they actually meant. There was even one reference to a picture that should have been "D" not "C" which I thought was pretty bad. I had to call tech support, which were great btw, to find out I needed to remove a plate to get the radio to insert. There was no mention of it in the instructions. Overall though a decent Dash Kit.

2009 F150 XLT with integrated stereo. This is a must have for replacing the integrated stereo in the 2009 F150. Install, fit and finish were all good. The surface is a bit of of pain to clean marks off I think due to it's texture. The only complaint I would really have is that the stereo sits back quite a bit, which really takes away from the look. It would look much better if the stereo came out more flush with the front of the kit. Overall looks decent and did the job it is intended to do.
Pros: Easy installation Almost a perfect fit Pretty much matches factory look
Cons: Stereo sits too far back and looks recessed

Scott from Durham, NC on 1/9/2018
2012 Ford F-150 XLT
While this kit looks nice and matches the interior F150 dash (though not as aesthetically aligned as the stock dash panel), the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired. The installation instructions were clear enough to attach the single-din head unit in place. However, the right side clips that the single-din bracket slots into (prior to inserting the head unit) has a couple millimeters of wiggle room. What this causes is the ability to move the right side of the head unit (fully installed in the dash) in and out slightly. This appears to be a very simple design flaw that passed through QC, and as a result, leaves a less than desired finished product. As others have mentioned as well, this kit is pretty recessed into the dash. I didn't think this would be that big of an issue, but after a long trip recently, the extra distance I have to reach from the drivers position to adjust the volume knob does get annoying. I know we're talking an inch or so here, but it's "just" enough to have me reach beyond my seated position in the truck. Nothing I can't live with, but something to consider. Even discounting this nit to pick, the recessed LOOK is not as aesthetically pleasing as it would be if it were flush with the dash.
Pros: Matches interior well Clear install instructions Fits nicely
Cons: Not as nice as textured stock dash panel Fit and finish could use improvement

Get The Scosche FD1438B Kit
Richard from Los Angeles, CA on 3/3/2016
2011 Ford F-150 XLT
Crutchfield screwed up stocking this kit. It's like Metra took a mid-90s kit, added the newer F-150 dash contours, and produced a "special" baby. I have both the Metra and Scosche kits. Get the Scosche FD1438B kit.
Pros: None.
Cons: The deck mounts to a plastic piece -- clipped to another plastic piece -- clipped to another plastic piece -- that finally mounts to the truck... badly. Alignment is very poor. Materials don't match the dash in a reasonable way, and the paint is a fingerprint magnet. The Scosche kit has none of these problems -- and the pocket is bigger.

I received my kit quite rapidly. When I went to install it the main body part was not quite the same size as my existing body. However the single din radio receiver worked with my existing main cover plate so it worked out fine. The instructions left a lot (and I mean a lot) to the imagination. This should have been much better. How much could it cost to have better installation instructions. I was able to make this work by blending some of the kit with some of my original equipment. Adequate

It's an OK housing
InnrGeek from Arnold, MD on 6/4/2012
2011 Ford F-150 XLT
The console replacement part is excellent. It looks sharp. BUT - the single-DIN housing is so-so. I wasn't expecting it to be so recessed into the dash. It doesn't sit "flush" like the OEM radio did. Personally, I feel like it detracts from the clean look of the new console. But, it's growing on me and I'll live with it.
Pros: easy to install, matte black looks nice. I installed it in about 20 minutes with no prior know how.
Cons: DIN inset doesn't look OEM. Console looks great though

Not perfect but works
Nate J. from Salt Lake City, UT on 5/23/2012
2012 Ford F-150 XL
Not quite OEM fit and finish, but it works. I didn't use the entire dash applique, but opted to just use the mounting plate with the pocket under the radio. The entire applique didn't mach the rest of the dash - It worked fine. There is a little gap between the head unit and the mount which looks a little ugly plus the radio is recessed pretty far into the dash. If it was my personal vehicle and not a work vehicle I might be more disappointed. Having said all that - It would look a lot worse without it so can't complain!
