This fit my 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS ok enough. The side pieces when packed are separate to the middle piece and are attached by a breakable plastic scaffold. They don't break away that cleanly, I had to use a clipper to get the last nub off. The double din opening wasn't really a glove fit to my Sony XAV-AX150. Overall, I give it a "good enough" rating. This is basically the only brand that sells a mod face for my car, so you have no choice.
Pros: Getting anything from crutchfield, the best customer service in the industry.

2013 Hyundai Sonata Dash Kit
Zaka from mississauga on 1/9/2022
2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS
Hi, I ordered this kit for my 2013 Sonata GLS. The delivery was really fast, surprisingly fast. Unfortunately, can't say that about the kit itself. The first fit that I ordered has various alignment issues (fitment), the side panels were not sitting properly. I contacted the customer service, and they were able to send me a replacement kit to try. The replacement kit was better than the previous one, however, it didn't resolve the issue. there is still a gap in the left panel and the silver side trim, a small paint chip is also seen. On the Right panel, the fitment is off (raised- can be easily pressed down), and the vent fitment is off as well. I have contacted the Crutchfield team for their assistance.

Avoid this Metra Kit
Kevin from Minneapolis, MN on 8/10/2021
2012 Hyundai Sonata GLS
This Metra Dash Kit was a part of a complete car stereo package I purchased from Crutchfield. While the Customer Service (Thanks Hogan!) was fantastic and the other parts of the package were exceptional (get the Crutchfield ReadyHarness Service - it's worth it!), this dash kit for the Sonata was unusable and contained quality flaws and had to be discarded (thrown in the trash). Quality Flaws - 1) The side panels that house the vents are glossy painted (which is a different from the grey plastic/brushed finish from factory) and, unlike factory, scratches on the glossy paint show dramatically when compared to factory (as me how I know). Additionally, here was a paint drip on one of the vent panels that is visible. 2) The driver side silver trim (the transition piece between the vent panel and the center panel) was misaligned at the bottom showing a gap and wasn't fixable. This appears to be an install quality issue of this trim piece at Metra. 3) The passenger vent panel is arched differently from the center panel raising it up higher than the center panel resulting in a sloppy fit. 4) Ultimately, this kit was unusable because the inset opening surrounding the Emergency flasher button is slightly too small and too tight keeping the button from releasing after being pressed as it should. This is either a molding or paint issue and may be fixable with sanding or grinding but with the other items above, it wasn't worth the effort. This kit was a waste of time
Pros:
Cons: Poor quality Poor fit Poor engineering

Great fit. Just don't touch it.
Crutchfield customer from Marlborough, MA on 4/24/2020
2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
In terms of fitment and functionality, this is a great piece. As expected with decades of using Metra kits, it swaps out for the factory pieces quite nicely. The only two challenges with the kit are first, the finish (gloss black) is a fingerprint magnet when compared to the factory faux brushed metal look. Additionally, the fit of the circles around the temperature rotary knobs is a bit tight and has some resistance when turning them. Hopefully, this won't affect the durability of or create grooves in the knobs over time.
Pros: Fit, finish, appearance
Cons: Gloss finish attracts fingerprints. Holes for temperature knobs are a bit tight.

Fitment Issues
David from Summerville, SC on 3/9/2020
2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS
I am not thrilled with the fit of this product. Yes it clips in but you need to struggle to line up some clips. Further more, once this does finally snap in, it is a bit too long by say 3/16 of an inch on the lower portion not allowing the OEM trim to snap in around the shift knob. In my 2011 Sonata GLS without nav or premium feature, the climate controls also hit the bottom of the double din radio I have installed leaving me needing to put the radio further back and showing gabs around the bottom of about 1/4 inch. The screws that were provided were not ideal either, the majority of them worked but I had to buy more thick screws to mount the rest of the components to the dashboard trim kit. I've attached photos of my install for this review.
Pros: Price, style
Cons: Issues with fitment on my double din radio, screws provided did not work in all locations, does not allow OEM panels to clip in properly due to being designed improperly.

The overall look is pretty good, with shiny black plastic replacing the brushed look that came with the car. The instructions are pathetic but I was able to sort it out. My main gripe is that the holes for the AC controls were slightly off and would not allow the control buttons to operate until I took it all back out and used a razor knife to trim the pieces for clearance. Even the slightest misfit will prevent the buttons from working. The Sonata dash is a mess and I can see how difficult it would be to make a proper kit but this one needs a little work.

Doesn't Fit 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS
Gabriel from Norfolk, VA on 8/31/2018
This is the absolute worst dash kit ever. Nothing fits right. I really wish Crutchfield would just remove the product instead of trying to sell a faulty product under the 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS. As others have stated, touchscreen radios will not fit properly in here. They also came with brackets that in no way shape or form line up to the car, thus forcing me to use the old brackets and leaving a few screws out - as it does not line up properly with the dash kit. Also, colors are different from what they were previously. Somewhat irritating, but I can deal with that part.

Typical aftermarket trim piece and installation
Jaron from Smithfield, UT on 8/19/2018
2012 Hyundai Sonata SE
This was about what I expected from an after market trim set. it comes disassembled and you have to remove the vents, hazard switch, AC controls, and clock to the new dash trim as well as the white clips that will be used to snap this into place once the install is done and the trim needs to go back. The instructions also failed to mention and metal plate that goes across the dash that has to be removed or this will not install with a double din. As others have said, there are some small plastic tabs that have to be removed to make the pieces mate well and not leave gaps on the vents. another item of note is that the vent trim does not match the OEM finish. This is just smooth gloss black finish instead of the matte brushed steel look, so that was disappointing. The bottom of the trim seems to be a bit longer than the original and fits OK and makes everything tight, but the gaps are not uniform The stereo mounts worked fine you just have to play around with which screws go into the right slot in the bracket to make it fit and extend as it should.
Pros: fits my stereo fine. easy to assemble
Cons: not much detail on how to mount the brackets to the stereo. plastic tabs have to be removed. some fit issues and gaps.

Ghaith from Sacramento, CA on 7/22/2016

I tried to use this product in my 2011 Hyundai sonata GLS with a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX. The radio was too snug preventing the removable LCD from moving, this made the disk drive unacceptable. The dash kit also did not fit my car very well. It left gaps in some places and was too tight in other places. I could see it causing stress on the surrounding dash area. I ended up getting the Scosche HY1625B instead and it is like night and day. A much better OEM fit and mechanized LCD screen is able to move like it should. I recommend Crutchfield replace the Metra with the Scosche product in there installation guide, at least for the 2011 sonata.

Pieces don't fit together with OEM quality. Had to file off some excess plastic to make side vent pieces conform to main body. One corner of silver trim did not stay attached and is sticking out in an unsightly manner. It holds everything, just not in the prettiest manner. You may want to shop around your options before settling for this piece.
Pros: Holds all of the gear properly
Cons: Fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired, not as attractive as OEM dash piece Shiny black plastic is a fingerprint magnet

Hard to tell if it is the kit or downright bad work done by the shop I went to. Having said that I imagine it is the person who installed the kit that made 2 noticeable mistakes. This dash comes in 3 pieces and not 1 piece meaning the person installing it must be careful to make sure all the pieces are flush. The upside is that I can take it off and readjust it myself. Also, An upside to this kit is the option to use a solid or vented cover underneath the air vent. I was able to hide my bluetooth microphone because of this and I am very pleased with this. Overall look is nice, colors work with the rest of the car and it was the cheapest place to get this dash kit.
Pros: - Seemingly easy installation - Colors match up to grays and blacks in the car - Choice of solid or vented hole cover - Cheap
Cons: Car shop installed it and it is not flush, I will have to resolve this myself

This face kit is a hunk of junk. The factory one comes off in one piece and this one comes as three. It does not line up correctly with all three parts and does not fit the car correctly. It also is not cut correct for the knobs to work easy or the radio to fit in the hole centered. Do yourself a favor and purchase the Scosche brand. The fit is perfect and it comes as one piece. Also the Metra kit comes in a high gloss which doesn't match the factory one at all.

"Okay" product
Crutchfield customer from Twentynine palms on 3/25/2015
It would definitely help if they at least made one for this car that had the brushed aluminum look as opposed to the shiny black. I personally did not have that much trouble getting it to fit into my dash. Getting the side trims (the ones by the drink holders) back on needed a little pushing but it all fit eventually. There is a small gap above my double din unit but I feel like I could fix that along with the glare my units screen has on it by tilting the bottom of the brackets upwards. The gaps and color difference really don't bother me too much but it's a definitely an issue to be improved upon.
Pros: Did its job
Cons: Gaps Color.

Will not fit 2013 Hyundai Sonata....
grkgeek from Cary, North Carolina on 3/20/2015
If I could give this kit a ZERO review I would but only can go as low as 1. What bothers me now that I have read the reviews while on hold with Metra is first of all someone else on this Crutchfield forum had already complained about this not working yet I was provided this item anyway by Crutchfield. Metra just told me on the phone that there is nothing they can do and suggested I contact Crutchfield for a refund or do some modifications and/or shop work to retrofit a bracket....Gee Thanks I am screwed and have my vehicle torn apart. I wish I had never purchased anything from Crutchfield. 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.4L 6 speaker stock radio system upgrading to KW-V50BT.
Pros: NONE
Cons: radio support bracket Does Not Work At All. The 2 support mounts that affix to the vehicles chassis are offset...one is offset approx 2 inches forward than the other while the vehicle support colum is a straight verticle support. Dont have to be a rocket scientists to figure that out.

Major mods needed for install
PitBullPositive from Ottawa, Il on 10/22/2014
2011 Hyundai Sonata SE
This was supposed to easily fit a 2011 Hyundai Sonata which unfortunately it didn't without some major mods. The mounting brackets weren't even close to what was needed, they didn't line up at all. I used the ones off the stock radio with some mods. The trim in each side was loose right out if the box, and the rim around the opening had to be cut back with a Dremel tool to get the panel snapped in. What should have been an hour and a half install turned into 4 hours if head scratching and cussing. I can't get that time back, thanks.
Pros: I can't think of even 1
Cons: Reference above tirade.

I would recommend only because I think this is the only brand that makes the dash kit for 2011 - 2013 Hyundai Sonata. I had to do some cutting to get it to fit properly. Try your hand...
Pros: Nice black glossy finish and brushed silver finish to match factory dash.
Cons: Does not line up A symmetrically like the factory dash kit. Had some issues that required me to o some cutting/shaving to get a precise fit.

It works

2011 Hyundai Sonata SE
The product worked but it has some things that I wish I had known or thought about ahead of time.
Pros: It works...
Cons: In my SE, I lost the brushed metal look to this glossy version. The alignment near the console is off and the top left corner doesn't stay popped in. I've tried resetting it a few times with no luck. Also, I don't know why there is a second whole on the right side across from the hazards. It took away from it.

It's OK.

I was a little scared after reading the reviews. But, after some modification and tweaking, I got the think to look OK. I wrapped the side/vent panels in a brushed "aluminum" vinyl so that it better matches the car interior. I installed this as a "double din", and there were a few annoyances with the fit & finish. When you install your factory ac/heat assembly, there is a small gap in the center top, below the cross section below the radio. I found some black weather door sealer and cut to fit to fill in this gap. Also, the cross piece below the radio opening is kind of flimsy, and not ridged. So, it flexes and mine had a slight bow up. I fixed this by laminating a ridged piece of plexi underneath, to give it strength-problem solved. I also had to lightly dremel the edges of the ac/heater and blower control nobs, as well. Not much, but if you don't the nobs will stick and not operate smoothly. It was free, and not many options out there. I made it work, and I'm happy with it. On a sidenote, if you take out your factory stereo, you'll lose your BlueLink service. Just FYI-- it's not mentioned anywhere.
Pros: Not "horrible"
Cons: Poor fit. Gaps around stereo and heater/ac control panel that need to be filled. Cross piece below stereo needs to be reinforced to prevent flexing and bowing. Sanding/adjustment needs to be done for control nobs holes, otherwise they will stick and not operate smoothly.

Metra 99-7342 Dash Kit
Crutchfield customer from Oklahoma City, OK on 5/6/2013
Worked great, kind of shinny instead of the dull black finish the OEM had so its a little distracting but I'm used to it by now. Had to remove all of the components from the old unit to install on the new one. Keep a good count of where each screw goes some are longer than the others. Overall, I give it a good rating, have to install it just right to fit, but once installed is does look very nice.
Pros: fits the car and makes the finish look professional
Cons: doesn't match the exact finish the OEM had.

Not as bad as I thought

I read the reviews on here about this product and was very skeptical about buying it. In the end I only bought it because I had to have it to put my new stereo in my car. After getting my order and looking the kit over, it's not near as bad as I feared from the reviews I read. It's definitely not top notch. They could improve it quite a bit to make it look better and function better but still not horrible. I'm mostly happy with how everything turned out. Biggest problem with it was the the brackets they sent with it didn't want to fit right so I used the factory ones instead.
Pros: only one for my car, not horrible looking or fitting. free with my crutchfield order
Cons: wasn't a perfect fit, lot of work to put together, cheap material.

Poor quality and poor fit
BW from Norfolk, Va on 8/4/2012
I have a 2012 Sonata SE 2.0t and wanted to upgrade my factory radio. This was one of the only dash trim panels I could find. I am very disappointed in the quality and the fit of this product. Firstly, a double DIN head unit must sit behind the dash panel (as in it won't be flush with the dash panel), because the opening isn't wide enough for the head unit. It doesn't look smooth, you can see tiny cracks where the head unit isn't flush with the panel, and the recessed position of the head unit interferes with use of the buttoms along the inferior border of the head unit. The climate control portion of the car was too big for the opening of this panel. I had to use high grit sandpaper to sand down the edges of the panel to make it fit. The high gloss black pieces that house the a/c vents are too big and had to be sanded down on the bottom so it would fit in the dash. Also, the a/c vents aren't flush with the panel either, they are recessed. The OEM dash panel had brushed metal finish. The high gloss plastic contrasts with the brushed metal finish elsewhere in the car. Now there is the matte black finish around the head unit and climate control, the high gloss black for the a/c vents, and the brushed metal trim everywhere else in the car. It just doesn't mesh well with the interior of the car. I cannot recommend this product, but as it is the only one out there for this year sonata, I will use it. I hope another manufacturer releases a dash kit soon.
Pros: After some sanding I was able to put it back in the dash of my car. If you are creative, you should be able to make it fit as well. With a little dremel tool, some sand paper, super glue, and determination, you can make it work for your car.
Cons: See above for details: Poor quality plastic. It is not the brushed metal finish that matches the rest of my car. It doesn't fit in many different locations and required sanding down of the plastic to make it fit A double DIN head unit sits behind the dash panel, it is not flush with the dash panel, which would be much nicer looking and how the OEM radio was. The finish of the plastic surfaces starkly contrasts the finish of the rest of the car.

Doesn't fit correctly
Marc S from Port Orange, Fl on 1/23/2012
2011 Hyundai Sonata SE
The brackets don't fit the dash correctly, and kits fit and finish is poor. I ended up keeping my factory radio, this is a terrible product
Pros: None
Cons: Product has terrible fit and finish, the brackets can not work with the dash on my 2012 sonata se. I was very disappointed and had to give up and pit the factory radio back in.
