Fit and worked perfectly. Just had to do a small modification for everything to fit flush, but it worked out and looks great, all buttons function as they did with factory radio, just sounds 100% better. Was informed that i would loose the factory navigation functionality. Installed a 7" Pioneer DMH-1500NEX that has apple car play/ android auto. Once everything was hooked up, I am still able to use my factory navigation as i did before. When I get into the car and start her up I have a window of 10-20 seconds to press the "enter" button on the metra dash kit to use the factory navigation as I was before. After the 10-20 second window if nothing is pressed the option for the factory navigation goes away, but no worries I am able to use my Pioneer's apple car play with maps or google maps for gps.
Pros: Fit well and looks better. The kit lights up orange which matches the the orange lights on my dashboard. Buttons fill nice and easy to press.
Cons: Expensive but worth it. Had to modify metra kit to fit flush. A few snips here and there to make everything fit flush.

Modernized Murano
Robert from Lakewood, CA on 4/10/2018

Excellent idea to create a quality stereo and dash replacement. The silver finish is very good. Matches the rest of the interior almost identically. The AC controls work really well. The top controls also kept functionality. I can still reset oil changes and check the air pressure. (Someone posted that they lost that function... not true. Still there). Only negative is that it looks like the lettering on the top buttons will rub off in time. I don't know for sure but it doesn't look like it will pass the test if time and constant use. Time will tell ) Note: there was a connection I didn't use I thought I missed something but it was fine. I didn't not but the additional adapter to keep the steering wheel controls. I think that's what they were for though. Definanatly think it's a must if you want to upgrade it. I installed a Double Din Kenwood and it looks great. * FYI. I was able to use the OEM steel bracket instead is the plastic bracket in the kit. The Kenwood has 3 mounting holes line up perfectly. Thumbs up for Kenwood on that one. I ran the USB cable right to the space under the stereo. Loved that too.
Pros: Quality Creativity OEM look. Easy install.
Cons: Top buttons have paint like lettering. Possibly won't stay lettered in years to come.

Hooyah from Bridgeport, CT on 4/23/2016

This kit is a very nice addition to the murano look and u can even choose the color based on ur interior. It does require a little customizing but really just a few cut outs of the stock part you still need for the kit and u have to take caution with the screws as the plastic can break if u screw them in too quickly. Other than that all the features for heating and cooling work great and you can still use the navigation screen for mpg rating and reverse camera with no need to worry abt even connecting that to your new reciever unless you want to and its compatible. But it has controls needed except the steering wheel adapter. For the money it could be more sturdy but it looks nice once its all installed. Not to mention its kinda the only the option.
Pros: Universal fit for single or DDIN recievers and has a nice finished look.
Cons: Doesnt fit all receivers the same, not all will be flush and some will be ressessed (only on DDIN receivers). Plastic brackets included are flimsy.

Works great but required modifications
gm from Hudson NH on 12/28/2015
I had been planning to replace the head unit in my 2004 Murano for several months so I spent a lot of time researching the options. Including modifying the existing console, bought a used console online at an auction website and started the mods. I soon realized the end product would likely be problematic due to the large qty of wires that would be needed to relocate the AC/Heater controls. So I started researching this Metra product and surprisingly there was little detailed information and most of the details that were provided were flat out wrong. Examples, Metra (including there promotional video) and Crutchfield's sites both say this unit has the steering wheel control built into the unit (wrong the SWC1 is needed if you want to use your steering wheel controls), While on the subject of the SWC1 the instructions for this unit are terrible it;s as if the person writing the instructions had no idea what this does and how to connect it. I spent 5 hours trying to get mine to work and finally figured it out. OK back to the Metra 99-7612a, Ok, first of all the instructions are beyond terrible and basically useless. I've installed numerous systems and can't believe how bad these instructions are. Including they don't mention the opening is not the correct size for a DDIN head unit. Yes, it will fit but the face of the radio will be recessed 1/2" behind the surface. My suggestion...talk to Crutchfield to get what you need.
Pros: Eventually works and looks great, overall appearance is nice. A must if you want to get rid of the stock Bose crap system. Included wire harness is very good quality
Cons: Instructions are Terrible including complete misinformation, leaving out major steps like reusing the AC/Heater harness from the old system, not mentioning the SWC1 is required and no instructions on how to connect to the 99-7612a. Happy to help these Mfg's rewrite their instructions contact me.

Everything you need to install your new stereo in the Murano. Read the instructions a few times and search youtube. Install took about 90 min and looks like a Pro did it. Cable connections are tight but if you have thin hands like me you'll emerge relatively unscathed. My son really enjoys the new Kenwood with aux, USB and Bluetooth.
Pros: Everything you need to install like a Pro.
Cons: Real tight fit but that's not Crutchfield's issue it's Nissan's.

1st gen Nissan Murano Dash Kit

I don't understand why after paying so much for this kit, I still had to spend a whole lot of time cutting and sanding it to make a double din radio fit. I tried a few different brands of radios too. They all did not fit. The opening is about 1/8" too small on all sides. Metra says they used the standard double din size but radio manufacturers are oversizing the radio. My kit had a build date sticker of March 2015. You figure METRA would adjust the size of the opening to fit correctly. Sucks that this kit is the only choice available. Get this kit knowing that you will have to spend a lot of time modifying it to make it fit most double din radios. This kit is not meant for someone with no patience. It will take a lot of effort to make it work. After trimming every edge of the opening down my radio finally fits. Is it perfect? Absolutely not! Does it look pretty good and is functionally after all the hard work? YES! Oh and I'm glad i went with the black trim because the aluminum one would have been destroyed with all the cutting and sanding.
Pros: Looks good when its completed.
Cons: All the modifications you have to do to make it fit correctly.

Must Be Heavily Modified to Fit DD Radios
Andrew from Virginia on 4/9/2015
2003 Nissan Murano
This product is Way overpriced for the modifications you have to make. I bought a Pioneer 4000NEX and it would not fit the faceplate. I had to take a dremel and cut out a great deal of plastic from the inside in order to get the radio to fit. I thought I was mistaken until I read an online review where someone had to do the exact same thing. I was shocked that it wouldn't fit a double din radio, especially for how much this thing costs. Credit where it's due, it's a great look and replacement for the OEM radio, and the buttons are solid and I haven't missed the knobs, but the fact I had to so heavily modify this thing for a fairly typical radio size surprised and disappointed me. The plastic which is to hold the radio is flimsy and rubbish as well. Do yourself a favor, if possible, and use the metal brackets that are on the factory radio. I had the whole thing installed and dash back together, and the radio moved *so* much (anytime we touched a button on the radio or faceplate) that I feared the plastic would snap and the whole thing fall out while I was driving. I am also disappointed that at no point in time did Crutchfield tell me that I may need to do actually cut down the back of the faceplate. Perhaps they weren't aware of this, but for the future installers, take note (I did contact Crutchfield on a few occasions to verify details before I purchased). It works and looks great, but beware that if you buy this you may need to do some heavy modification
Pros: It looks great and feels like it rolled off the line. Great engineering to still use the internal controls for the screen on the dash, AC, etc. Crutchfield was a great help and the people are super nice, so I would bank on the notion that they themselves may not have been aware of all the modifications that are needed to make this work with certain radios.
Cons: Must be heavily modified to work with certain radios. Parts of it are far to flimsy to and cheap to justify the asking price of this device.

2003 Murana Metra Kit
wildwhl from Nevada on 3/11/2015
2003 Nissan Murano
I know some have had a bit of a challenge with the instructions, but I found them quite easy. It is all there - the confusion may come from the fact that not all the wires are used as well as that there are two harnesses supplied with the steering wheel control adapter (if you buy the whole install kit as I did). One is prewired (in the box with the Metra 99-7612 kit) and the other has loose ends (boxed with the adapter). So disregard the latter. Installation was quite easy. The instructions are well done and the screws are not difficult to access. I used a JVC deck (single DIN) mostly because I wanted the cubby. Great place to stash my cell. The fit is near perfect, I didn't have to modify anything that wasn't called out in the instructions (and that which I did was simple). The steering wheel controls took a couple shots at syncing but following the instructions works like a charm. The buttons on the Metra face kit work well. They're softer than OEM but that's not a negative as far as I'm concerned. I wish the temp and fan controls were still rotary knobs but my wife's Inifiniti uses buttons so I'm used to it. Sound quality is in fact improved. The Bose amp and speakers really aren't all that bad. The JVC deck I'm using has a 5 band parametric EQ and while I've yet to dial it in, I'm very pleased with the sound. In fact, there's usable bass now. Install took me just over an hour start to finish. Did it myself. No special tools. Totally worth the Crutchfield price.
Pros: Ease of install, factory fit and finish, improved functionality due to more modern deck to replace the seriously lacking OEM headunit.
Cons: Instructions only 95% clear - could be a touch cleaner but quite frankly they're quite good.

Faulty Kit Expense
Cameron L. from Monterey, Ca on 11/30/2014
2005 Nissan Murano
Despite the visual differences between the factory kit and the metra kit it looks great and the brushed aluminum matches perfectly. I received a faulty kit and due to lack of knowledge am unable to install or troubleshoot myself. Because if this I absorbed the installation/trouble shooting costs associated with the first install at two different companies. Crutchfield provided great assistance over the phone but it still doesn't make up for lost time or money. Power to all buttons on the kit are intermittent. If no power is present then all settings are stuck to include the A/C. The only way then to reset everything is to unplug the car battery. I honestly think this is a good kit but I just got a defective one. It is the holiday season so the arrival of the new kit is delayed but I will give it another try once it arrives.
Pros: Looks good
Cons: Expensive Received faulty kit

Easier then expected

Great Product works perfect and was a lot easier to install then expected, I called around to a couple shops and they gave me estimates from $150-$200 I installed the metra kit along with the sony 64bt and hooked up my subwoofers all in 2 hours and I have only don't one car in dash installation before and it was with a buddy
Pros: allows you to put an aftermarket radio in the murano
Cons: bracket is plastic so you have to be careful + you need to get the steering wheel control adapter to use your controls

Only product for Murano factory head replacement
Jon P from Potomac MD on 9/23/2013
2006 Nissan Murano
Seemed pretty expensive but now I understand what it does and how good it looks I'm happy, especially after the discount Crutchfield gave when bought with a new stereo. Installation was not too difficult; there were a few wires left over at the end that seemed redundant. One call to Crutchfield confirmed all was well. I turned on the ignition and it works like a dream. Loving my new Pioneer double din unit I installed with it.
Pros: Very good factory look Relatively easy to install Works all A/C and Computer controls that factory unit did Allows installation of standard after market single/double din
Cons: Better written Instructions would have saved me some time

Misleading instruction and cheap plastic screw mounts
Big Cor from PA on 5/11/2013
Intruction are misleading and Metra tech support is a joke. Very cheap mounting hardware. I got it to work, but Metra needs to tell people that if you're not using the steering wheel controls you still have to plug that piece into the bottom of the kit. Metra revamp your instructions.
Pros:
Cons: Price, wrong instruction and cheap plastic mounting hardware
