Does the job

For being the only dash kit available that I could find for these cars, it's not bad. The color is slightly different than the original trim, but that could be due to old vs new plastic, so maybe I could condition my HVAC controls trim to make it darker. Like some people have mentioned, it's easy enough to just reuse the stock metal side brackets instead of the included plastic ones. In this case, since I used a double DIN, I only used the face plate from this kit then, and as far as fit goes, it fits excellent. It has the same feel as the OEM plastic as well. Ended up with lots of extra pieces then, but overall, I'm pleased with it.

Cheap construction. Does not really replace the original when putting dash back together. Missing a flange that holds the lower half of console to the interior of dash chassis.

It's adequate :/

This dash kit is quite complete and it does LOOK good... but the side brackets, as another reviewer points out, are really flimsy. The result of this makes securing the entire unit to the car - especially at the bottom.
Pros: Nice finish cosmetically, pretty decent color match to my '98 RL.
Cons: Side brackets are SUPER flimsy.. while they're sufficient, they are rather flexible.

Poorly Designed Side Brackets
Hacksaw from Harrisonburg, Virginia on 8/10/2015

2000 Acura RL w/o Nav. Poorly designed side brackets. I modified OEM metal brackets by trimming the plastic tabs storage bin beneath the Pioneer; and drilled holes in the OEM bracket to mount the radio and supporting storage bin. This allowed brackets to be secured with OEM 10mm bolts on the side and made a solid fit in the upper console holding he head unit and A/C control unit.
Pros: Decent face mount
Cons: Plastic side brackets were way to flimsy to adequately hold equipment and upper console in place. Disaster waiting to happen!

Woefully inadequate. Critical design problems.

Do Not Buy This Kit If You Have A 2002 Acura RL (No navi) The main part of this kit replaces a steel or aluminum factory frame. It is missing a critical support on both sides and allows the radio to dangle. There's a small possibility that if you have a double din radio it might work but I wouldn't count on it. I called Crutchfield support and they initially told me I was incorrect. I them provided pictures comparing the original frame with the kit. They conceded that I was correct about metra's omission. I hope that don't sell this for my application anymore. (2002 RL, no navigation, single din) Do Not Buy This Kit If You Have A 2002 Acura RL (No navi)
Pros: None
Cons: missing critical supports on sides!

More than was necessary for my '01
CarlB from Cedarburg, WI on 8/22/2014

All I needed to install a JVC KW-HDR81BT in an '01 Acura RL was the small panel trim piece. I was able to use the steel DIN frame from the stock radio.
Pros: Good fit, easy to install, very close to factory appearance.
Cons: Most of kit is unnecessary for my vehicle.
