Worthless! The direction were unintelligible. Made of really cheep plastic. After installing this kit there was a 1 inch gap in the dashboard. This adapter kit came free with the radio I purchased, however it cost me an extra hour and half to realize it was useless.

This adapter is great, it was super easy to use and gave me a spare storage cubby. It is a very sturdy mount, as rock solid as the factory radio.
Pros: Easy to mount stereo in, very solid
Cons: A multi use part lots of unusable parts afterward.

didn't line up with OEM bolt holes due to not being large enough causing me to have to force it in. I worry it will crack over time. Tried to call customer service for the item, but wait times were over 30 minutes.
Pros: Got it installed for now
Cons: Didn't fit very well--at least 1/8 inch off on each side which left a gap between honda frame and plastic kit

Mediocre kit
Crutchfield customer from Three Rivers, CA on 8/14/2018
2005 Honda Pilot
I had the original stereo in my 2005 honda and wanted to be able to bluetooth. So I bought a new stereo and got this dash kit. My original stereo was held in a solid metal frame. This is plastic that flexes and doesn't seem real solid. It leaves space all around the stereo so in the dark it will be real easy to slip a CD through the wrong opening. Not a great fit and not that sturdy
Pros: It worked. It hold the stereo in place.
Cons: All plastic parts. Doesn't fit that well.

Love that easy-connect, convenient Bluetooth streaming form my phone
Crutchfield customer from Bluffton, SC on 11/26/2017
2003 Honda Pilot
Works as advertised. I'm very happy with the end result. Connects automatically with my phone when I start the vehicle. No mess, no fuss. Almost like just turning on the radio, but it's my music, all the time. Crutchfield harness was easy to install, although the Axxess steering wheel control add-on instructions (from Axxess, not Crutchfield) were very difficult to follow. I think Crutchfield would benefit from writing its own instructions for the Axxess product in an easier-to-follow way, or press Axxess to redesign its own.

Great fit for my 2004 Honda Pilot. Includes 2 mounts; one for EX model, one for LX model. There is a mark on them to tell you which is which. So pick the correct one. Does exactly what it needs to do and could not be easier to use.
Pros: It just works

Easy installation, perfect fit
Bryan C. from Nampa, ID on 4/7/2016
2005 Honda Pilot
This mounting hardware for in dash installation of the stereo worked perfectly. It was included with the purchase of the stereo to allow me to take out the factory stereo and put in something a little more useful for my needs. There are two options included, based on the trim of the vehicle. It was tough to see which of the two I needed so I had to try them both out. I got it right on the second try. Once I got that figured out, though, it went as smooth as silk. It also a snap to take out the stereo and replace it with a different brand when the first one didn't work out.
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: Difficult to decide which option was the one for me

The dash kit came with two different frames as well as two pockets already installed. Hardware and other parts complete and installation fit well, as expected. The plastic braces were somewhat wobbly until the facia piece was installed, but fairly solid after all was restored.
Pros: Complete and a Good Fit
Cons: none

This kit was "included" with the install package I purchased from Crutchfield for my girlfriend's 2008 Honda Pilot. Installation is pretty straightforward, once you figure out which dash kit you're going to use, the kit comes with 2 chassis mounts. Instructions were sparce but with past experience on my side I was able to reason the proper installation. The problem was with the fit in the dash. If all 4 screws were used and tightened properly the head unit sat approx. 1/4" higher than the dash trim allowed. I used some spacers and longer screws to properly fasten the unit in place. I thought that I may have used the wrong of the 2 kits but after trying both they had the same issue. Not my usual experience with Metra kits.
Pros: Straightforward install
Cons: Improper fit in dash.

Overall. Fit my honda pilot perfect. Very easy to install.
Pros: Easy installation. Fits perfect.
Cons: For the metal cage you insert into this part that the radio actually sits in you have to put a little thought into how you bend the tabs in order to sercure it.

Pros: The kit fit perfect without making any adjustments.
Cons: When I ordered the kit I wish there was a note upon ordering that I might need an antena adapter.

It'll work!
Derek g. from Rochester, wa on 7/7/2013
2007 Honda Pilot
As the kit came with two install kits, they were poorly marked(small L and E) and difficult to find as the instructions did not state how to identify them. I ended up using the "E" kit as its fit was better looking. Though, it's fitment was not perfect, it worked quite nicely after a few trial and error installs.
Pros: Ease of fitment
Cons: Poor instructions and identification of brackets

2007 Honda Pilot LS
Kumar from Chandler, AZ on 1/1/2013
2007 Honda Pilot
I bought this kit to replace the factory stereo in my dad's 2007 Honda Pilot LS. The shipment arrived with two identical kits. albeit on papers they were meant to be different but I did not find any distinction between them. I used the kit to install Single Din Pioneer DH3400 . Unlike the previous reviews I did not have to struggle with the fitting at all; it fits like a glove. The only one thing that could be done better is the storage compartment underneath, The factory fitted compartment is more sturdy and also has a flap to open and close. The one ion this kit is made of flimsy plastic without any flap. I am giving it a 5 star rating simply because it does whats its suppose to do and for the price I can overlook the cheap plastic.
Pros: Ideal for 2007 Honda Pilot LS, Glove Fit, Easy Installation
Cons: Cheap grade plastic used for the build

A Nice, clean-fitting kit. Fits well in my 2004 Pilot. A nice freebee from Crutchfield that you would otherwise pay for if you had someone else install. Directions could have been better. I'm thrilled to save the extra $200+ in my pocket that it would have cost had I used profession install to do the deck and speakers.

Ok fit
RickfitR from Boston, MA on 4/14/2012

It is nice that the kit is included as part of the package. However, the fit isn't great. The radio sits too deep, so getting the faceplate off isn't easy. Not that I do it all that often, but stil.... The opening is rectangular but th radio is slightly curved, so it looks a bit funny. Lost the door in he lower slot. Tht was a bummer!
Pros: Basically fits
Cons: Not great fit. Lost the lower door.

I like that Crutchfield throws this in. Makes all the HUs they sell worth it right there. This trim unit is JUST a bit off. When I bolted it into the console, it sat fine. When I got to the point where I had to install the dashboard trim again, I found that this trim part rides a little high. So I had to kind of bend the unit back down to fit the dash trim over it. It seems alright now. I haven't heard anything pop or crack underneath so I assume it has just molded itself to the new position.

Looks good now, what happens long-term?
Plastic11 from Plano, TX on 3/19/2011

Nice that both form factors were included, that could have been a real headache. Installation was straightforward. So certain that the plastic is going to stay rigid enough over the long run. especially after a couple of hot Texas summers. On the other hand, it looks like some thought went into where the stress points are likely to be, so it might be ok. I might come back in a couple of years and give it five stars :-)

Very Cheap
Michael from Orlando, FL on 2/8/2009
2006 Honda Pilot
Very cheap and flimsy plastic. Look at the picture and you can see that the weight of the radio is supprted from the back, nothing at the front of the radio. After mounting it and going for a test drive, all I could here was the rattle and plastic flexing. Took it out, remounted it again using the rear support, and you can still hear it popping as it flexes under the weight of the radio. I ended up buying metric bolts and then taking the factory brackets and pocket and attatching it directly to the new radio. No flex and no noise. Just what I wanted to begin with.

Metra 99-7861 Dash Kit
This was around my 5th installation using an in-dash adapter kit from Crutchfield. I got the kit free with a Pioneer DEH-P6000UB single-DIN receiver. The adapter fits perfectly into my '04 Pilot dash. The edges are rounded just right. The finish is a little bumpier than the factory dash, but barely noticeable. It seems that Pioneer and the company that makes these for Crutchfield have a slightly different draft of the DIN standard. Everything went together well, with the exception of the final trim bezel that surrounds the radio face plate. I had to snip four small pieces off of the metal DIN bracket that came with the head unit, and Dremel four plastic tangs from this bezel to make them narrower. Not a big deal, but this is the first time I've had to do anything but snap the pieces into place. Overall, a great looking adapter to put a single-DIN head unit into a double-DIN hole. It's great to get this free, and it's worth its price to be bought separately. Crutchfield provided their normal spectacular shopping experience again.
