Our take on the InstallBay ATM Dual Add A Fuse

If you need power for a low-current accessory or an amplifier's remote turn-on, this Dual Add A Fuse adapter from InstallBay will provide a convenient and safe alternative to running a new wire all the way to your vehicle's battery. You simply pull out a fuse from your vehicle's fuse box, then plug the Add A Fuse's blades into its position in the box.

Add a 12-volt power source

If you need power for a low-current accessory or an amplifier's remote turn-on, this Dual Add A Fuse adapter from InstallBay will provide a convenient and safe alternative to running a new wire all the way to your vehicle's battery. You simply pull out a fuse from your vehicle's fuse box, then plug the Add A Fuse's blades into its position in the box.

The Add A Fuse has two fuse holder slots: one for the original circuit fuse, and another for a new fuse for the new circuit. The original fuse will still protect its circuit while the new fuse protects the positive voltage provided to your accessory via the red wire. (You'll provide the accessory's ground connection to your vehicle's chassis.) The ATM Dual Add A Fuse fits into an ATM slot in your fuse box. Warranty: 60 days.

Installation note: The new fuse and accessory should have a current rating well below the original fuse, otherwise the current draw could overwhelm the original circuit and blow its fuse.

Great construction. Reasonably priced. Allowed me to wire two subs to one fuse outlet. Had to splice the remote wire to make a Y-connection, but that's not the fault of the item itself which again, seems to be well constructed.

exactly what I wanted to provide power to a powered sub woofer with out connecting directly to the battery. I do not like the idea of connecting something directly to the battery and trust it's circuitry wont fail killing my battery. I'd much rather add it to an existing circuit controlled by the cars key and this fit the bill perfect. Just ensure you do not put it in back words or the fuse will do nothing for you. To do this, pull the fuse out and see if the component your adding lost power, if not simply turn it around and reinsert in the fuse block. to use reuse original fuse from fuse block, add your fuse of a lower amp then original to provide power to your new circuit. Now you have a circuit controlled by the cars ignition instead of live all the time.

Pros: does exactly what I wanted it to do

Cons: Does not come with any fuses.

Hi Andreas, I don't recommend the possibility of a 15A load with this add-a-circuit / tap. The tap is something like an 18 gauge wire; safe up to about 10A from my investigations. Good luck! [ Spencer  Oct 30, 2018 ]
I was unable to use this particular fuse tap. The KIA Sorento I was installing the dash cam used a new configuration where the prongs that plug into the fuse box are spaced closer together. I called the Crutchfield tech rep and he was very helpful and walked me through a work around. [ ROBERT L  Oct 29, 2018 ]

Yes I have 20 amp on mine and works great [ CHRIS  Oct 25, 2018 ]
