Poorly designed product

Pretty bad. This adapter doesn't actually interface with the OEM Veloster amp. It just sends audio to it. It doesn't control the amp's volume. When you set your aftermarket radio's volume to 75% or higher volume the audio signal starts clipping, sounding "scratchy". To make it worse, using a wiring harness with this module in it causes the volume to be only 50% as loud as the OEM system was. I don't know how Metra thought this was a viable solution for Velosters.
Pros: It makes sound
Cons: Sound is very bad quality, and very quiet.

Plug and Play
J from Jackson, WI on 7/1/2020
2016 Hyundai Veloster
Installed this wiring interface in a 2016 Veloster with factory amplifiers and it was plug and play. I am using an Alpine head unit and Rockford Fosgate amplifiers (all sourced from Crutchfield of course) and am bypassing the factory amplifiers. The adapter immediately recognized the steering wheel controls including phone, mode and volume buttons and the Alpine head unit I am using responded instantly as well. If you have the factory amplifier audio system, you'll need to skip the part in the instructions that have you wire the amp outputs (from your head unit or aftermarket amp) to this harness. Instead, you can wire your amp or head unit to the car's speakers via the connections under the passenger seat where the factory amp is located. The largest modular plug in the factory amp has the speaker leads you need and a quick internet search will reveal color codes of wiring for appropriate speakers. When installing this harness, follow the instructions closely and in order when first initializing the adapter which helps the harness recognize the head unit correctly. Zero noise in the system as well with this harness. Back up camera worked immediately as well with no issues and video connections just plugged right in to the Alpine. This harness is highly recommended if you are putting in an aftermarket head unit and amplifiers.
Pros: Easy to install, instructions are comprehensive, plug and play, well constructed.
Cons: A bit more complicated of an install than the old days of just wiring up power and speaker leads due to the interface that needs to recognize the head unit.

It half way works
David from Marietta, GA on 9/29/2019

it works ok. Cant get blue link to work and its does retain the steering wheel controls with Kenwood radios that are recent models. The tech over the phone said there's no telling when the update would come out to fix the issues
Pros: it powers up the radio at least
Cons: no updates to fix issues

A mixed bag
Dan from Columbus, OH on 11/29/2018
So this worked but it was the hardest part of my install. I did the ready harness, which is a fantastic service BTW, worth more than the $ they charge. Got it all wired, and the radio powered up and worked, I could hear audio but... the steering wheel switches did not work at all. Did a reset, didn't help, spent over an hour on a call with Crutchfield tech support. I ended up pulling the box out, and flashing the firmware. The firmware flashing utility was a bit buggy, and sometimes I needed to reboot the computer to get it to see it on USB. In the end my volume buttons and forward and back buttons work, but on hook and off hook still do not work. Will need to continue troubleshooting. Should have tried all of the buttons before putting the dash back together. I have a feeling I will need to re-program the box manually. Since I got the ready harness and you had the Metra out of the box already, you should have flashed the firmware before you shipped it. That would make a much better user experience.
Pros: Some stuff works Was easy to plug in
Cons: On Hook and Off Hook buttons not working. Firmware was hosed and old when I got it, would not detect my car. Does not provide Factory USB port support in my car :(
