2002 Yukon XL with Pioneer double DIN

Fit well on my 2002 Yukon XL with a double DIN Pioneer stereo. Looks good; I like the matte finish. I used the metal clips from my old dash bezel. I don't know if that was necessary, but some people had complained about the Metra Clips so I took their word for it.

Pros: Good fit Easy install Looks good

Perfect fit! It looks amazing! Very clean style. The clips come with it and all you do is push! While I was working on it. I took it on and off probably a dozen times and it comes off just as easy as it goes on. Clips did not get worn either.

The ipc bezel had exceptional appeal and fit, however...the retaining clips would not retain this piece to the dash. Had to remove the retainers from the old bezel and transfer them to the new bezel. All in all....very nice fit and finish.

Easy to install ( using tools from Crutchfield to remove stock panel trim. ) Good looking in matte black finish. No rattle after installation. ( though some mounting clip points are not as snug as they could be. )

Pros: Good looking. No rattles.

Cons: Not completely flush with instrument panel in a couple of locations.

Only way to make a 2-Din Radio Install Look Good

Crutchfield customer from Lakewood, CO on 4/7/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The Metra dash kit allows a 2-DIN stereo fit into a 1995-2002 Chevy/GM truck. The instrument cluster bezel replaces the factory original. The fit is pretty good - it could be slightly better and the provided clips are a little weak - thus the four stars. I used the factory clips and it held the bezel much better. The kit come in a smooth matte black. Most of our dash bezels have a texture - so it will look a little different. On my truck, the dash came factory colored in what GM call a Medium Pewter color. I used Colorbond's Medium Pewter dash paint ($20 online), masked off the parts that are supposed to stay black, and painted it. It looks fantastic. Matching the color to the rest of the dash made my new 2-DIN stereo look like a factory model.

Pros: Only way you can make a 2-Din radio look good in an old Chevy truck.

Cons: Clips are not that great. The fit is quite good, but not perfect. You should paint to match your actual dash color (if not black) for a pro look.

I guess I'm kind of a perfectionist but 4 stars is appropriate. The fit is decent but not like the factory. It seems to be a tad smaller. The clips hold well if you take a pair of pliers and squeeze them down before you put them on the bezel. The rest of the install fit great. Sorry no photos.

Pros: Easy to install and makes the radio fit great.

Cons: Smaller than factory. One color.

Steve from Ione, CA on 12/3/2018

This kit works great. If you have a truck with the beige interior, this will not be two-tone like your existing dash. This unit is all black and is a slightly different texture than the OEM. Fit is perfect and I actually prefer the all black and the different texture. As with other reviewers, I agree that the provided clips are not useful. I removed the OEM clips from my stock dash (This is a project in itself and resulted in me breaking my old dash is three spots). The OEM clips work perfectly on the replacement dash and hold it in place much better than the provided clips. Just to be clear, the issue with the clips provided in the kit is that they do not connect snuggly to the dash kit and therefore do not hold it in place very well. The clips connect to the truck fine, they just don't fit tight enough on the dash kit. I would encourage you to pull the old clips off of your old dash, just be prepared to break it in the process of removing them.

Pros: Good quality Allows for double-DIN stereo in GM trucks

Cons: This kit is expensive, but the truck dash design makes it necessary. Provided clips fit too loosely. Does not color match existing (beige and black) two-tone dash.

First off if you don't have any of the little plastic pry bars for removing the dash panel and or door panels... Get some from Crutchfield they work great!! Anyway, the surround fit really good and it wasn't hard to do at all. If you have a tilt steering, put the steering wheel in the lowest position and put your shifting lever in the lowest gear. My original dash surround was tan to match the interior, and with the change to black I thought I wouldn't like it.....But I really do, it breaks up the solid look and gives it some contrast. And best of all, it was less money from Crutchfield then anywhere else!

Pros: Looks good after the install even with the color change from the tan colored original to the new black.

Cons: the clips to hold it on are much weaker then the factory clips. Just use the factory clips and it holds really well.

Poor design

Daniel from Berrien Springs, MI on 11/4/2018

2005 Chevrolet Suburban

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This product is very poorly designed overall in my opinion, especially considering the price. The metal clips are not bent correctly and are made out of a very cheap material. We ended up reusing the original clips. The plastic itself is not textured like the original, and only uses one alignment post instead of both. The fit, whether it be due to the bezel or the radio is shifted to one side. I have replaced many other factory head units and this has been one of the worst. Especially considering how much this kit costs.

Pros:

Cons: Expensive Poor build quality

An excellent product, price is totally fair. Be smarted than the normal person complaining about the clips and just tighten them when attaching them to the dash. Only one color but it watches the dash components it covers. Smooth and not textured but I think it gives it a much cleaner nicer look!

Pros: Easy, simple, quality and NEEDED!

Cons: If you upgrade your stereo head.. well, you have to buy one or destroy the dash you have!!

This is a nice piece of trim, but I had to re-crimp each of the metal fasteners as they popped off the unit. They were in a bag and you had to slide them on, no problem there, but they wouldn't hold the piece in so I had to squeeze them tighter with pliers and then try again. Finding the right pressure so they were crimped enough but not too far was a bit of a pain.

Pros: Good fit, little modification needed.

Cons: Metal fasteners not crimped properly.

At first this product didn't fit and there was a 3/16th gap all the way around it and the dash. After examining the original dash bezel and comparing this new piece I decided on replacing the clips supplied in the kit with the factory ones from the old bezel and that's all it took to have this baby sit just like the original bezel. As far as the supplied stereo brackets go I was able to adjust the depth of the stereo to have it just far enough out to use the dial knob with out running into the trim. Couldn't be happier with how it all came out My advice to anyone using this kit is to salvage the old clips from the old bezel or better yet get some new ones from the dealership

Pros: The texture feels great even tho it's not the same as the factory texture. Sits tight up against the dash (with original gm clips)

Cons: Clips supplied in kit were pretty much garbage

I had to pinch the metal clips so they would hold onto the trim piece without falling off. That wasn't a huge deal, however the trim piece doesn't fit very well. There is about an 1/8th inch gap between the new trim piece and the dash panel. and also a huge gap where the trim piece should rest against the clear mask on the instrument cluster. like most people have stated. I am going to take it back off and use the old factory clips.

Nice Kit For 1999-2002 GM Trucks/SUV's

Patrick from Chester, VA on 4/8/2018

1999 Chevrolet Silverado

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The best & only way to go if you own a 1999-2002 GM truck or SUV. I wish I had done this a long time ago if I knew it was going to be this easy. Very close to the factory original, and I already have the graphite colored dash/interior, so this was a nice matchup for my 1999 Silverado. The ONLY mod that I had to do is cut the rear support brace inside of the dash opening about midway & remove it. You will have to remove 2 rivets from the radio cage that mount to the metal support brace. You can use ordinary pliers to do this and then remove 4 screws that hold the cage in place. When cutting the metal support brace, USE A DREMEL SAW, not a reciprocating saw!! It makes clean cut and won't tear your dash apart. I didn't have to make ANY mods to the actual radio cage itself. I installed a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX and it fits perfectly using the supplied mounting brackets. Not sure about other brands, but the Pioneers are a perfect fit with plenty of room behind the radio. Unfortunately for some, this only comes in the flat black finish & I don't think it's paintable because it has a "rubbery-like" coating on the entire piece. I will say the supplied install clips are made of cheap monkey metal, but you can make them work. You could try to remove the factory ones, but might damage the OEM dash panel when removing them. I found by using pliers and squeezing the clips tight before you install them on the panel seems to make them fit tighter onto the panel.

Pros: Easy to install, makes for a clean factory OEM look

Cons: Only one color, install clips are kind of cheap

I wanted to put a double din unit in my 2001 sierra so after reading some reviews I decided to go ahead and purchase this dash kit. I removed the clips from the stock dash panel by lifting the two tabs and sliding them loose enough to pry them off with a mini screwdriver, it wasn't super easy but after the first ones my technique improved. I paid attention to the other reviewer's mentioning the dash finish scratches easily. I used the thin Styrofoam packaging the dash kit was shipped in to pad my hand holding the front well I carefully pushed the clips on by hand wearing mechanics gloves. I also removed four rubber pads from the stock dash panel and put them on the tabs that touch the speedometer housing. I took my time and carefully installed the panel without putting a single scratch on it. The dash fits tight and looks perfect in my truck with my gray interior.

Cons: would have been nice if they offered different color combos instead of ...Hey, let's make them all black.

Fits good. Looks different because the old instrument cover wasn't black. Some of the clips had to be squeezed in so they would stay on the molding. The dash part has a black plastic film on it almost like it was painted. Be careful installing it. I scraped mine and the plastic film starting coming off.

Professional looking install for Avalanche/DDIN radio

Mike from Fairfax Station, VA on 12/9/2017

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Used for my 2002 Avalanche while installing a Sony XAV-AX200SXM radio. Fit of the plastic panel was spot on and gives a very professional installation look. I agree with the other posters that the clips are the weak point--they are thin and bend too easily if everything doesn't line up. I tried using them and because they deflect too easily they don't 'hold' some portions of the dash snug when you install it. It was worth saving every single one of the stock clips from the old dash. Using the old clips gave a flawless installation. Crutchfield delivery and documentation was excellent! The screws supplied with the plastic radio rails are countersunk--but the plastic rails are not...so a little tricky to get the screws to 'catch' on sides of the radio.

Pros: Gives professional look. Crutchfield delivery and documentation excellent. Much better than some half-baked mod to existing dash panel.

Cons: Clips for dash panel and mounting screws for the radio rails are the weak points in an otherwise great product.

The dash kit is nice and keeps th OEM look of the truck, also the double din head unit fits perfect, but over all the "kit" is not perfect save your old clips and rubber vibration boots the new clips are poor quality and no new vibration boots come with the kit

Pros: Dash kit looks nearly OEM quality is close, and double din fits perfect, it's a great look and looks stock.

Cons: New clips are vary poor quality and break easily, save your old clips save time and though the new ones in the waist bin, also take the time and save all the little rubber vibration boots as the new one does not come with them

Got this for the install of a Double DIN radio in my 2002 Chevy Silverado. Stock radio was a 1-1/2 DIN radio and I really did not want to go hunting up an '03 dash trim so ordered this Metra Dash Kit. Overall it looks pretty good, but there a few blemishes/divots in the raised up frame, but otherwise it was acceptable. It only comes in black, but since all the Silverado dash trims are black on the face the only real difference was the color around the outer edge of the trim kit and after 5 minutes I did not even notice. It does fit well and maintains a stock look with the new Double DIN radio. The only real issue with this kit is the absolutely terrible, cheap quality metal clips included. I attempted to use these and could not even get the trim properly installed on the dash. So - I took it out, threw away the suppled clips and took the factory clips off the factory trim. They were hard to get off but totally worth it. With the factory clips installed the trim installs and removes just like the factory piece.

Pros: Looks good installed. Fits the Double DIN radio perfectly.

Cons: Trim installation clips unusable.

Metra bezel needs an upgrade

Paul from Red Bluff,CA on 8/29/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Metra needs to go back to the drawing board and redesign this dash kit ! They left out some key features that the stock unit had! Like padded positioning points at each of the dash clips and silicon gasket around the backside of the openings ! Compare the factory unit and you'll see the difference! It does fit ok but not like it should.I painted it to match interior of '02 Sierra. Now that it's in and finished most people don't even know it's not stock...only I do! Oh, forgot to mention the metal clips they provide with the kit. They're supposed to have little barbs inside the clips to hold on to the plastic mount on the backside of the bezel which you install yourself .The clips only have little indentations so, I used the factory clips which were a bugger to get off the factory mounts but doable! Wiring harness is pretty easy to figure out no problems there! Have fun doing it yourself!

Pros: It covers the dash and provides necessary openings for double din stereo

Cons: Read the review!!

Gets the job done

William from Sahuarita, AZ on 8/20/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I'll start off by saying this kit makes the job of putting a double din receiver in much easier, and faster than the alternative of either modifying your '99-'02 bezel or finding a '03-'06 one, and probably having to modify that one as well. With that put of the way, these don't fit as nice as the OEM piece. It's not horrible, but it's not absolutely perfect, either. However, in my opinion, totally worth it

Pros: It makes the conversion relatively simple(r)

Cons: Not an OEM kind of fit

This looks pretty good against my stock dark gray dashboard. I was worried the black would be off or look weird being a different color but the matte finish fits right in. I only gave this a 4 and not a 5 because there are no other color options available to match any of the stock interiors.

It's not too bad. It seems to be a little flimsy, but works. It was definelty preferably over modifying the original equipment. As the other reviews indicate, don't throw away your old clips, you will definelty need them. The new clips are just not sturdy.

I visited a local installation shop and they said that this wouldn't quite fit right and I would be better off having them modify the dash I currently had in my truck. I have reservations about having someone cut up my dash, although I am sure they would have done a fine job, I ordered this instead to be safe. I figured if it fit horribly, I could send it back, have them modify my dash, and everything would work out. However, this product fit my dash PERFECTLY so no modifications were necessary. Now I still have my original dash should I ever need to use it again, but this product makes my dash look amazing and fits with my double-din pioneer head unit that I installed flawlessly.

Pros: Excellent Fit

Cons: Finish is a little dull

Updated Radio for My Sierra

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This installation kit made the radio change out child's play. The hardest part was getting the screws into the openings on the radio. I was able to connect the wiring harness to the radio in the house. I walked outside, removed the old dash bezel and radio, installed new radio and bezel in 20 minutes. All the pieces were there. I chose not to paint the bezel at this time as it was black and my dash is tan (as it does not look bad), but can remove easily enough at future date if I choose paint later. The cost was slightly pricey, but it did alleviate major headache of installing that would have occurred without it.

Pros: Ease of installation, completely matched my vehicle, decent quality, time savings, no wire splicing in the dash

Cons: a little pricey, saved so much time wife found other things for me to do.....

Seems good quality. Definitely use the old hardware pieces. Take a bit to get them off the old bezel but worth the fight. Although the color is darker than the original it works well with the interior i have so i didn't paint it to match. Looks like an accent piece to some other stuff i have going on. I dont see any issues with alignment, size of fitment (which usually find in old dash with new bezel pieces), or flaws in the molding process (its what i do) so i rate it only a 4 due to the hardware.

Pros: looks just fine., good quality

Cons: hardware

Great piece. Made Installation WAY EASIER than the alternative. Which would be to use an '03+ dash bezel / radio cage and relocate the HVAC controls. As other reviews online stated definitely use OE clips to reinstall. Quality was good not OE but for aftermarket quite good. Mine after install was slightly warped making it difficult to snap in place with the cheaper clips that came with it. pulled the OE ones off and made much better fit and finish.

Pros: Ease of installation. Quality piece

Cons: poor quality mounting clips. Unfortunately only comes in Ebony. So some Rattle Can SEM or Color Bond paint/Die is needed if you want it to match any other color interior

It works well enough. The finish is matte black so it looks a bit "base model" but my truck is 14 years old so I suppose I'm being too picky. On another note, the plastics are bit lesser quality than the original OEM. That is really saying something when you realize the plastics used by GM circa 2002 were pretty lousy. Also, the clips used are a bit of a pain in the rear since they don't grip the adapter very tightly. Over all, it allowed me to use a double din radio in a space that was never intended for one so I am satisfied.

Pros: It works. I now have a double din radio with navigation, bluetooth, Android Auto, etc. in a 14-year-old truck.

Cons: Matte black doesn't quite match just right. Clips are not the best Minor trimming behind the dash

This dash panel fits around the double DIN radio well, but the fit to the dash board is not as tight as the stock unit and the color is just plain smooth black. Painting will be required if you want a factory matched finish. I used the provided mounting clips that came with the panel, so maybe the stock factory mounting clips would provide a tighter fit. Additionally, I was able to fit the double DIN radio without cutting the dash support bracket per the instructions. I removed the support bracket and installed the radio to it on the bench, only needing to clearance the wiring pigtail, then I installed it as an assembly back into the dash, fitting very much like the stock radio did, test fitting the Metro panel and all lined up perfectly.

Pros: Readily available, packaged well, good fit around double DIN radio. No need to do major cutting of dash support bracket.

Cons: Finish and fit around dash could be better

Will say this piece does what it is intended for. If you have a 99-2001 GM truck, you know your options are limited. I will say the piece feels very flimsy and the quality is far below factory. At the time I ordered mine, it has listed in the description the piece is textured to match the stock item. Incorrect!! Mine arrived and is smooth as can be. It is a flat black, so it traps everything. Since it is smooth though, I am using it to my advantage and having the item hydrodipped. Really do wish the unit was a higher quality plastic though.

Pros: Works

Cons: Cheap plastic feel

Very happy with this product. Finally able to upgrade my 2002 Silverado to double din without to much hassle. I read many reviews before purchasing. The main complaint is the clips that secure the Metra Dash Kit to the dash. The clips secure very loosely as shipped, but if you take pliers and pinch down, not flatten but make a narrower opening, on the two clips that attach to each point that secures the Metra to you dash the clips stay on very securely. This also allows the Metra bezel to be snugged up to the dash in the same way the factory bezel does. Then there are no gaps as some have reported. I had the new Metra bezel on and off about six time to get all my alignments perfect on my Pioneer AVH 3600 and had no issues with the attaching clip after the extremely easy fix I mentioned above. Yes the product comes in a matt black finish, but it can be painted. My interior is dark pewter and I like the unpainted finish in my truck. I did have to cut the metal support piece and the plastic housing in the dash to allow the double din Pioneer to fit, but this is not the fault of Metra; this is due to the din and a half factory install by Chevrolet. The metal support was cut easily with a Sawzall, and the thin plastic with a small hand saw.

Pros: Easiest way to upgrade GM din and half to double din. Looks great and fits great with minor attention to mounting clips.

Cons: Not textured. The OEM bezel has a subtle texture. Also, only comes in matt/flat black, however it can be both textured and painted if desired. *My interior is almost black and the mat black finish on the product as shipped looks nice in my truck.

Looks good but weak, not as strong as a OEM, missing some guide pegs and need to change lock tabs with original. Knowing all faults I would do it again.

I installed this on a 2001 Chevy Silverado. I recommend spending the time to remove the factory clips for reuse. The included clips don't grasp this bezel at a satisfactory level. The price is reasonable and the quality is not bad. It is a little lighter than the factory piece. Once I got the correct depth on the new head unit, the fit is good. I am not in love with the flat black look but it is growing on me.

Pros: Easy to install and reasonably priced.

Cons: Included clips don't hold well, recommend using original factory clips.

I would highly recommend this kit to anyone wishing to install a double DIN unit in their early model Silverado truck. Rather than having to shop junkyards for parts from the 03 and up trucks, this kit will basically make it a bolt in and go situation. The instructions mention trimming the rear support for the stock radio, but I found that it was not necessary. It is a tight fit, but isn't that what you want? The most trouble I had was getting all the wiring tucked in behind the radio while trying to slide it into place. Several attempts before the radio side clips would snap into place. Once the radio is in, the bezel is a no brainer. It is not a perfect fit, but it is a very good fit. I used the clips that came with the kit, the only downside being if you remove the bezel the clips generally stay in the dash rather than on the bezel. Not a big deal, but when you have to do it a couple of times it gets frustrating. Those are the only reasons I rated it 4 rather than 5 starts. I also like the contrasting color versus painting like the stock piece was. My interior is medium oak and it looks great!

Pros: Ease of installation Complete Looks

Cons: Clips are just OK Not a 100% perfect fit

The price was good as well as the shipping. Installed in a 2002 Chevy Avalanche. Looks good once you get it to conform to the dash curve.

Pros: Saves your dash integrity. Looks good

Cons: The fit was not quite correct. I ended up using a heat gun to help it conform to the dash shape. The clips that come with this bezel cover do not hold like they need to and use the factory clips to try and keep the cover in place.

This is one of the easiest dash kit I have installed. Even though you are replace the entire dash trim, the kit is easy to pop right in. The cut out for the aftermarket radio is not as wide and is taller than the stock radio. This made the aftermarket radio look clean, no gaps, and everything lined up.

Pros: Easy install

Cons: Does not have the exact texture. It is very similar, after the install your customer won't even notice though.

I was excited when I saw this because I had been wanting to do a double din conversion on my '00 Silverado for a number of years and I was concerned about cutting my factory dash bezel. Mainly I was disappointed in the clips and tabs that the clips slide on to. I pulled the bezel on and off a half dozen times while fitting everything and each time half the clips were left behind in the dash. I'm sure it could be fixed with a spot of glue on each tab. Its a little thinner material than my factory bezel and the fit is just "OK". For someone just jumping into the truck and looking at it, it would probably look factory to them. It's a decent alternative if you don't want to modify your factory trim piece.

Pros: easy installation

Cons: fit and finish is just OK.

Great Double Din Conversion Kit

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I am very pleased with the fit and finish of the kit. The instructions are very basic so watch some of the online videos on how to do a double din conversion on your 99-02 Chevy truck and you will have a good idea on what you need to cut and trim on the radio cage behind the radio. The bezel comes in a black primer color so you may want to paint/dye it to match your interior/dash color. I went to the local professional paint store and bought a rattle can of SEM brand satin black. There is no texture to the new bezel and in my opinion would be way too difficult to try and match the same texture on the dash to the new bezel. I am going to just go with the black color and leave it with no texture.

Pros: Super easy install if you do a little bit of research on online videos. Perfect fit. This kit makes what should be a total custom intermediate/advanced size radio install with lots of hours of work, into an almost beginner size job.

Cons: Directions are very basic. Pricey.

2002 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab, fit is perfect. The item came quickly and is exactly as advertised. You will have to modify the radio cage behind the dash and may have to remove part of the dash support bracket. But the bezel is a perfect fit. Do yourself a favor and save the stock clips. they are superior to the clips that come with the bezel. I would give this item 5 stars but the clips were not as good as OEM. otherwise it is a 5 star item

Pros: Perfect fit, looks as good as stock

Cons: Clips a little to be desired

Was excited to be able to install a DDIN unit in my Tahoe, but was a bit disappointed in the quality of the dash kit. It is not textured like the OEM one and the fit is not as exact as I would have expected. It does, however do exactly what it's supposed to in that a DDIN head unit now fits perfectly without any compromise to the A/C controls.

Pros: Allows install of DDIN radio/head unit

Cons: Not textured as OEM and not as good a fit to dashboard as would have expected.

It fit my 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 extremely well. The only complaint I have is that the upper right corner isn't quite as tight as It should be. This is probably more a problem with my dash though. A few others have complained about the flat finish of the unit and to be honest I was expecting it to have the same bevel as the OEM one. However I do like the flat finish a little bit better so no downgrade from me for that. Looks great!

Pros: Fits really well. Looks great.

Cons: Not the same finish as OEM (not a con for me but maybe for you) slightly loose in one spot (I only notice because I installed it. Haven't had anyone else notice yet)

Great Solution to 1.5 DIN Dilemma

David from Florida on 8/8/2015

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Couldn't have been simpler. Saw a few youtube videos of cutting and gluing and otherwise butchering an original dash to get a double DIN to fit. This product is what you need to convert with a factory-like finish. Fit was excellent, remarkable change from the factory 1.5 DIN size to a double DIN unit. Yes, it has a flat black finish with a smooth surface, but easily addressed. One can of Rust Oleum Hammered finish spray paint before you install it (comes in several colors, found a dark grey that matched my dash) and viola, a textured look and feel that rivals the factory finish.

Pros: Easy installation, quality fit

Cons: Smooth flat black finish doesn't match factory look, but easily matched with textured paint.

I was so disappointed when I found out my truck had the 1.5 DIN opening and I had to do major dash sugary if I wanted to install a double din radio. When I saw this dash bezel, I was really excited because I could keep the OEM look with only minor modifications behind the scenes. This bezel fit well in place of the OEM and has a nice look to it. It has a smooth surface and nice matte black finish which looks good. I would have liked for it to have the same texture as the OEM bezel, and I would have given it 5 stars if that was the case. But by no means does it look bad. If you want a clean, OEM look with a double din radio in you 1999 to 2002 Silverado, this is the only way!

Pros: Nice fit, good look, great solution.

Cannot install the radio without it. Not too mention the previous owner had hacked up the stock overlay from the last unit, and it looked like crap. [ Erik  Mar 13, 2016 ]

Q
Does this fit all screen sizes on a double din just got a 7 inch Kenwood dnx892 and want to make sure this will fit?
[ Jeff  Dec 29, 2018 ]

A
The Kenwood DNX892 is actually slightly smaller than my application by ~.05 inch to 2/16 inch on each side. It will fit fine.

I used this dash face with a Kenwood double din unit, but mine did not have a screen, just a large LED display. However, the opening should be large enough for a screen on a double din unit as long as there is some border around the screen.

Q
Does the outer edge of the bezel have a leather grain texture like the factory bezel?
[ caymon  Apr 03, 2018 ]

A
NO, THE OUTER EDGE IS PLAIN. The bezel looks great. I left the original black because the rest of the instruments were black in my truck and it blends in perfectly. You would never know this is a" after market " installation.

Q
My 2002 Yukon Denali has a Onstar Panel located on the right side of the Dash Panel under the air vent. The Onstar Panel is a small rectangle, much smaller than the opening in the picture on your replacement Dash Panel on your website (appears to be at least half the size in height). Is there an adapter for the Onstar Panel to make it fit in the larger cut out on the aftermarket bezel? Thanks for your help.
[ Tyler  Jan 10, 2018 ]

A
I don't see any adapter being included for using with that OnStar panel. Also, I've looked through the information we have on this kit including the manual that comes with it. I don't see any mention of having OnStar panel there causing any issues or needing any extra parts which leads me to believe it won't require any extra parts to install. Also, I wanted to mention we don't have a way to keep OnStar working when the radio is replaced; not even if we use a single din radio so you don't have to use this kit. Q
does the clear plastic come with the kit, or are we supposed to use old one ( mine is cracked and missing a piece in lower left corner??) Id like to find out before ordering

no its just dash cover
[ SCOTT  Dec 17, 2017 ]
A
No, this is just the plastic that surrounds everything. It's a matte black finish, which is a nice contrast to the interior color. Works great for when you convert the radio to a double DIN unit. Mine was a really good fit, but you may want to use the factory clips as I believe they hold better than the ones provided in the kit. If you pop off your current factory plastic, that is exactly what you get to replace with this kit, nothing more.

I don't understand your question I have a 2001 GMC 3500 and the piece that extends from above the radio down past the a/c control module pops off and you replace it with the new one. It was a perfect fit

Will this dash fit my 2000 chevrolet silverado single cab truck ?
[ Gary  Oct 02, 2017 ]

A
This is the recommended dash trim for a double DIN stereo install in the 2000 Chevy Silverado, yes. You'll also need a wiring harness and an antenna adapter. You can be sure to get all of the recommended installation accessories for your truck by using the "Find what Fits" application on our website here: https://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fCar%2foutfitmycar%2fmycar.aspx I hope that helps! For all those who answered that this item has a black primer, you are wrong it is not a primer but rather a scratch resistant black "paint" finish more similar to powder coating. Also those that answered it is easily painted you are also wrong. I spent over an hour on the phone with Metra and SEM (auto interior paint supplier) to educate myself on the proper products and steps before painting this item. I finally gave up after 3 attempts. Each time I followed the directions I was given to the letter and I got wrinkles throughout the entire piece. Tried different primers, cleaners, and application methods with no success. Metra and SEM both told me it could easily be painted by just using the correct cleaner and then primer before painting. After wasting many hours of time sanding, cleaning, priming, painting only to repeat time after time it never worked. I found out, after 3 time consuming attempts, that the original paint must entirely be removed prior to any paint or primer application. If you are thinking I will just use a chemical stripper to remove all the Metra applied paint, think again. Of all the chemical paint strippers made, very few are safe for use on ABS plastic, and of the ones that are warn of structural damage making the ABS brittle. The only course of action to paint this item is to manually sand all the original paint off the part and start from there. In my opinion the factory finish looked perfectly acceptable on my dads charcoal interior, but stood out like a sore thumb on my pewter colored interior. Metra told me it could be painted just using the correct primer which was not true. The part was damaged going off the information supplied by the manufacturer and I feel like they should supply me another part. After calling Metra I was told "I am sorry your project didn't work out you should buy another and try again.

it has a little texture to it, but not like the factory. It's smoother. It's all black, and is paintable with the right kind of paint. I think duplicolor has the tan at most auto parts stores if that's your color.
[ Tgoatman  Jul 03, 2016 ]

No! It's has a black primer finish, you need to apply you own favorate finish
[ Patrick  Jul 07, 2015 ]

No. It comes black. You would need to paint it

No, it came with a flat black finish. It looks nice on my Yukon 2002, but you coming from a wood grain finish might not be so happy about it.
[ Rigel  Jul 06, 2015 ]
A
No, it is a smooth flat black finish. It still looks good and fits well though.

My kit came with a black finish and I did not see an option for different finishes. I would chat with a rep and see if the offer others.
