About the Axxess LC-GMRC-04 Wiring Interface

Axxess LC-GMRC-04

You want to replace your factory radio, but you'll lose your warning chimes. There's a remedy for this: the Axxess LC-GMRC-04 wiring interface retains your GM vehicle's warning chimes, provides 12-volt accessory power, maintains your balance and fade controls, and keeps the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) feature. The interface also provides the outputs you'll need to connect a NAV receiver, including parking brake and reverse. The interface works with non-amplified systems or when bypassing an amplified system.

Product Research

Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The Axxess Integrate LC-GMRC04 lets you replace the factory radio in select 2000-2005 GM vehicles with an aftermarket head unit, while retaining important factory features.

Make Model Year
GM Le Sabre 2000-2005
Aurora 2001-2003
Bonneville 2000-2005

Note: The LC-GMRC-04 does not retain OnStar.

Amplified & Non-Amplified Systems: The Axxess Integrate LC-GMRC-04 can be used in GM vehicles with no factory amplifier, or in GM vehicles when bypassing the factory amplifier (will not retain factory amplifier).

Retained Accessory Power (RAP) & Warning Chimes: The LC-GMRC-04 is compatible with your vehicle's Retained Accessory Power (RAP) feature, which keeps the radio on until on of the doors is opened. The LC-GMRC-04 also retains factory warning chimes through its onboard speaker.

12V Accessory & Navigation Outputs: Since there is no 12V accessory wire in the vehicle's factory harness, the LC-GMRC-04 is designed to provide a 12V/10A switched accessory output to your new aftermarket stereo, preventing you from having to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column. In addition, the LC-GMRC-04 provides navigation outputs (VSS, Parking Brake, and Reverse) to help ease the installation process of an aftermarket navigation stereo.

Wire Code Chart: The included wiring harness includes the following bare wires that will need to be hardwired (soldered or crimped) to your new aftermarket radio's harness.

Q
Does installing this require soldering the new stereo wires?

Yes some wire connection soldiers must be made to the main harness plug adapter. You can use crimp connectors, but that's a crummy way to connect anything - hope that helps

I paid Crutchfield to do a custom harness so I did not have to cut into the vehicle's wiring. They did splice this unit into the wiring harness so soldering in or crimps in my option would be necessary. This unit/module was necessary for the vehicle's chimes to work. Paying for a custom harness to me was well worth it. Very quick installation.

You don't have to use solder. They are bare wire ends, but there are alternatives to solder like crimp connections or heat shrink tubing.

No you can use wire crimps but soldering is better

Soldering would be recommended but I always used to twist-connect and tape w/electrical tape
