Our take on the Metra XSVI-6502 Wiring Interface

Installing an aftermarket receiver in some late model Chrysler vehicles requires a switched accessory power supply. Metra's XSVI-6502 CAN bus Interface supplies your aftermarket receiver the necessary accessory power.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness saves installation time since you won't have to cut factory wires individually, and it also enables you to re-install the factory radio if needed. Warranty: 1 year.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

I've bought several receivers through Crutchfield and these interfaces always make the job easier. It was a little confusing with the steering wheel controls and the auxiliary amp in the Jeep, but a call to Crutchfield phone support fixed that.

this is nice for not having to splice wires. i think i may have gotton a defective unit. once hooked up it worked as advertised until i turned the truck off and hit the alarm button. this thing kept the radio going instead of turning it off. i ended up using the Crutchfield Forums to figure out how to make it turn off once the door handle on my Ram was opened and it involved splicing into the cig lighter wire for Accessory power. the unit works other than that.

I am using this with the Alpine CDA-117 in my 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This made everything very simple. If I ever sell the Jeep I plan to reinstall the factory radio and makes that possible. I simply used soldered this wiring harness to the one provided by Alpine and plugged everything to the factory harness. No issues at all. I would recommend this to everyone.

I used this to install a Kenwood KDC-X993 in my 08' Dodge Ram. It was easy to install and works perfectly. It keeps power to the head unit just like it was from the factory. Pricey for what it is, but If you buy your head unit through Crutchfield, they give you 50% off this harness. That's a sweet deal IMO.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was about to start cutting the factory harness of my 06 Dodge Ram. I decided to go to a local shop to see how much they would charge to install my stereo. Guy said I would need to buy a harness that would cost $150!!! I laughed and left the store. Went to a big box store and they said same thing $138 for this harness! Bought from here and installed myself in an hour easy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i used this to hu my pioneer hu in an 05 300 and worked great all besides the directions to hook this up didnt work or make sense.... first it said to use the red wire on the end to splice into the 12v for power which i did and it didnt turn anything on hmmmm so i ran a wire from the accessorie connection on the head unit to the 12v i had spiced into and the headunit worked fine the red and white/orange wires i just capped off and ddint use but the rest was usefull i just hooked up the matched wires and plugged in and thats it worked great besides that bit of confusion so if you are wondering why your hu is not turning on figure it out on your own and learn it's fun that way !!

used this to hook up a deck to my 2006 dodge. there was some confusion as to the illumination and the dimmer wire, but the deck is working great and the dimmer function on the deck is working fine. also, the retained power after the key is off works well.

Features

Product Overview: The XSVI-6502 OEM integration harness allows you to install an aftermarket radio in select Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. In these vehicles, there are no 12-volt accessory wires in the factory harness, which requires the installer run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The XSVI-6502 is designed to provide a 12-volt, 10-amp switched accessory output (red wire), along with a dimmer wire (orange/white wire).

Retained Accessory Power: The Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.) function supplies power to the radio after the ignition is shut off until one of the front doors are opened. This function is retained by the XSVI-6502 harness.

Compatibility: The XSVI-6502 harness is compatible with the following vehicles:
