About the XS Power XP2000

Dominic DeVito

Power for mobile or marine applications

Looking to give your vehicle a little extra "oomph," power-wise? XS Power's XP Series batteries deliver reliable supplemental energy for your high-performance car audio system and hydraulics. They also make a great solution for your boat or RV's auxiliary electric needs, or for just about any application outside the engine compartment.

Depending on your vehicle and the application, you'll need some accessories to connect your XS Power battery. To see what works with this battery, click on the "Accessories" tab above. If you have questions, our advisors are here to help.

Advanced AGM technology

XP Series batteries feature a sealed absorbed glass mat (AGM) design that incorporates special glass fiber mats that contain the acid electrolyte between the lead plates, rather than a standard flooded (liquid) design. These batteries actually store energy, so you don't have to add a capacitor to your system to get a quick burst when you need it.

Designed to fit nearly anywhere without leaking

XS Power's compact XP2000 12-volt battery provides up to 2,000 maximum amps and has a capacity of 80 amp-hours. It'll provide a big boost to your car audio system, and it offers ready reserve power for your boat or RV. You can even use it for non-vehicle applications, such as emergency lighting, alarms, and more.

This battery's compact size lets you get creative with your installation. Since there are no external vents on an XP Series battery, you can mount it in a passenger compartment, below a seat, or inside a glove box without fear of leaks — no more worries about corrosion or damage to chrome or paint. XS Power guarantees their batteries will not leak, even if damaged. These batteries also resist extreme vibrations so they'll perform in the trunk or hatch area without skipping a beat.

Need more help choosing the right battery for your vehicle?

XS Power offers a handy vehicle guide on their website. Simply enter the year, make, and model, and you'll instantly receive a list of batteries that should fit your vehicle. And they'll recommend installation accessories to help make things more convenient. Or just give us a call and talk to one of our advisors.

Note: XP Series batteries do not have reinforced casings and are not recommended for daily under-the-hood applications.

Important Note: It is very important to properly charge an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery before using. Improper charging can permanently damage the battery (including but not limited to swelling), and will void the warranty. These chargers (sold separately) have a microprocessor that monitors the charging process to avoid overcharging, and are recommended for this battery.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The XS Power XP2000 is a 12-volt battery that is designed to be used as a supplemental power source in your vehicle. It can be used to provide additional power for your car audio system, or can be used in marine applications. It is not designed to be installed under the hood or replace the OEM battery in your vehicle.

Terminals Needed: This XP-series battery does not come with battery terminals, so you will need to purchase the proper terminal adapters to fit the inner diameter of your power ring terminals before installing. Recommended terminal adapters include: Two 5/16" brass stud adapters (#589), Two 3/8" brass stud adapters (#590), or Two 5/16" + Two 3/8" brass stud adapters (#588). You could also choose the Short Brass Post Adapters (#580).

Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM): XS Power's AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries use a fibrous material to suspend the liquid electrolyte against the lead plates. Because the electrolyte is absorbed in the material, there is little chance of an acid leak, even in the event the case is ruptured. AGM batteries contain more lead compared to traditional "flooded" batteries, thus producing more power.

Charging the Battery: It is very important to properly charge an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery before using. Improper charging will permanently damage the battery (swelling, etc.), and will void the warranty. XS Power offers two 12-volt High Frequency IntelliChargers designed for charging AGM Batteries: the 8-amp HF1208 and the 15-amp HF1215 (both sold separately). The chargers have a microprocessor that monitors the charging process to avoid overcharging, and are strongly recommended for this battery.

Note: If the battery is damaged (swollen, etc.) due to improper charging, or from not using an intelligent charger, Crutchfield will not accept a return on this item.

Specifications: The XP2000 has the following specifications:

  • Maximum Output: 2000 amps
  • Reserve Capacity: 150 minutes
  • Discharge Capacity: 80 Ah (amp hours)
  • Dimensions: Width 10.2", Height 8.46", Depth 6.54"
  • Weight: 52 pounds

Customer Q&A

Q
Can I use the xp2000 under the hood?
[ James  Sep 16, 2022 ]

A
It's not really what this battery is designed for, James. Since this bad boy has so many amp hours it's really a good call for a secondary battery or a marine application due to it's sealed case. These same reasons make it a superb call for a power cell or multi-battery setup for high powered applications and show cars. If you are looking to run an XS AGM battery under the hood for increased performance, I'd head to the XS at this link (https://4xspower.com/) and punch in your car's specifics. XS most likely has a better drop in replacement designed for the main battery. Keep in mind whenever switching to AGM as your main battery it is crucial to charge the battery fully the first time (they do not ship charged) with an intelligent AGM charger like the Intellicharger in the second link below. If you don't your battery will not ever work right! I hope this helps James. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_122HF1215/XS-Power-HF1215-IntelliCharger.html

Q
I just recently purchased this same battery for a secondary battery inside my vehicle next to my amps, my question is do I need to run a negative cable from my engine battery all the way back to my secondary or can I just ground it where it's mounted and will my altanator charge the secondary as well? I see some illustrations showing a negative cable run to the second battery and some without. I will not be using a battery isolator. Primary battery is xs power D3400R

No The best thing to do is to make sure that each batter and Amp has it's own ground. Make sure that you prep the surface well removing any paint or debris.

You can run a 0 gauge wire from your main battery positive to the secondary battery positive in the trunk. The secondary battery can be ground in the trunk. A big 3 upgrade will help with supplying both batteries with the proper current that they need. If you find that your batteries are not charging at the appropriate level, then you might want to consider a bigger alternator.

Q
Will this resolve my amp kicking out after about 2 hours on the water? Seems like the draw is too much for the batteries to handle..
[ Keith  Sep 21, 2020 ]

A
It would definitely help but it sounds like you may have to upgrade your charging system.
