this is a surface mount cover, if od of woofer is 10", the 10" grille will cover it. this grille however will not cover sides of woofer, it sits flush on top of woofer

Not sure, I had a different subwoofer, also I built my own box, so my sub was recessed in the box.

Does this fit JL Audio 12TW3 subwoofer?

I purchased four of these to use on the JBL 1224's I bought. They did NOT fit. I am not familiar with the model number woofer you have requested information about, but if that woofer has the ability to be mounted on the inside of the enclosure, there is a good chance it will fit.

Not sure but I put them on both of my 12 Infinity subs . One in my truck one in my 73 Pontiac just for added protection . No rattles and got piece of mind. Would hate to bump them the wrong way!

Q
Will this fit on a JBL S2-1224 (12" subwoofer)? I bought a grill somewhere else, and it's too small. The JBL mounting ring is 12-7/8" across, and the screw holes are 12" across from each other. If this won't fit, what grill would you recommend? Thanks! subwoofer?

It won't fit around the outside but may work sitting on top of the frame. I used it on a 12" Kicker box and it fit nicely - look through the reviews for the grill, mine has a picture, posted on 1/22/18. You don't use the screw holes, there are plastic clamps that are purchased separately, may need to put a spacer underneath them so they sit straight. I'm pretty happy with the way they work and look, holding up well in the back of an SUV.

If all you received was the grill without hardware, then the I would not recommend using it. That grill should have came with (4 ) attaching tabs. METRA 85-9012 12 INCH STEEL WAFFLE GRILLE like this set up.

Q
Due to the depth of this grill and the shape of my subwoofer (MTX 12"), the woofer would bang against the grill if i simply mounted the grill and turned on music. I need to space this grill away from the subwoofer cone (actually, away from the rubber ring around the cone). Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply - I ended up resolving this with a similar method.

I purchased a spacer (see Atrend, google it) then modified the spacer with a dremel to fit my grille. This was for a 10 inch sub. You may be able to locate the same from the above company fore a 12" sub. Mine enabled me to use a grille to protect a down firing Infinity sub woofer.
[ Mark  Jan 24, 2014 ]
A
There are grills made for subs with a high cone surround such as Polk, Kicker, etc. Either use something like that, or make a spacer. You could either make a MDF trim ring that goes around the outside of the sub and then mount the grill to that. In the past, I have also made a double front on boxes with the sub being mounted to the inner layer and grill cloth, regular grills, or nothing at all. It looks nice recessed like that.

Add to the rubber ring with foam or rubber from lowes and see what happens or mount the box the speaker is in to a location so it doesn't move and leave the grill off.
