Pioneer AVH-2440NEX

Our take on the Pioneer AVH-2330NEX

I've been satisfied with "old school" stereos in my car for a while, but this latest generation of touchscreen DVD receivers from Pioneer has changed my tune. Pioneer's AVH-2330NEX DVD gives me quick and easy access to my podcasts, streaming music, phone calls, and more, all with easy-to-use interfaces that I can customize to match my taste and preferences.

Beauty and brains

I've been satisfied with "old school" stereos in my car for a while, but this latest generation of touchscreen DVD receivers from Pioneer has changed my tune. Pioneer's AVH-2330NEX DVD gives me quick and easy access to my podcasts, streaming music, phone calls, and more, all with easy-to-use interfaces that I can customize to match my taste and preferences.

Pioneer AVH-2330NEX

The AVH-2330NEX supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Smartphone compatibility that rules

I've seen a lot of receivers that promise smartphone compatibilty, but this Pioneer really offers some great options for enjoying a seamless experience. You can plug your iPhone® or Android™ into this receiver and take charge of a variety of apps for navigation, music, and more from three very cool interfaces. Best of all, you don't have to pick one — Pioneer's made it easy to switch quickly between them, depending on the task at hand.

  • Apple CarPlay — CarPlay is an iOS user's dream. Plug in your iPhone and you'll access a super user-friendly iOS styled interface that lets you quickly jump into your music, podcasts, messages, streaming music and more. CarPlay's a no-brainer for me — it's the safest and easiest way to use your iPhone in the car, hands down.

  • Android Auto™ — Your media, nav, phone, apps, and more are organized in a simple, clean interface that gives Android users an easy way to hit the road.

  • AppRadio Mode+ — Pioneer's AppRadio Mode+ provides additional flexibility when your iPhone is attached, letting you tap into apps like Waze for navigation, and providing easy access to some video content through AppRadioLIVE.

Intuitive, customizable interface

The AVH-2330NEX boasts a bright and crystal-clear VGA display with plenty of customization options. You can set your home screen to display your favorite sources, and then switch between them with just a single touch, letting you pay more attention to the road, and less to operating your stereo.

Spotify and Pandora® control

If you're like me and use streaming services a lot, you'll appreciate how you can control your Pandora and Spotify accounts from the receiver. Just connect your iPhone via USB or Bluetooth, or pair up your Android™ with Bluetooth and you're all set. You can even create new Pandora stations on the fly just by pressing a button.

Bluetooth® wireless command

The AVH-2330NEX is ready to roll with hands-free calling with your compatible phone, plus the ability to wirelessly stream and control music from up to five different phones. Plus, with your compatible iPhone, you can take advantage of Siri Eyes Free functionality, using your voice to place calls, select music, hear notifications, add reminders — even compose and listen to text messages.

Awesome AV

The receiver's LCD screen plays DVDs and other video content in bright, clear detail when you're parked. You can keep your passengers entertained by sending video from the receiver to a rear-seat screen — that sure helps to minimize wars in the back seat. You'll be able to view video content from your iPod or IPhone with the addition of optional cables. And you can play it safe when you throw it into reverse by plugging in a rear-view camera.

iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your factory extras

This Pioneer offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included). The module lets you keep factory features in your Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, Fiat, or VW vehicle that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. You'll also be able to check out expanded functionality on the Pioneer's screen, including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure and temperature monitors.

If you currently use AppRadio Mode, Pioneer has found that it won't work with iOS 11. They're working on an update, so you may want to keep iOS 10 until that fix is available.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

This is a fantastic unit. Bought primarily for Apple car play which is outstanding. Best unit I ever owned. I will only buy pioneer from now on. Mic pickup operates better than factory. Incorporated mic into factory mic holder for factory look. Works perfectly. You can not go wrong with this unit. Had installation problems that crutchfield solved. Outstanding service which was prompt.

Pros: Polished well thought out system

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great new stereo to update an old car. It's very nice and clean. Bluetooth doesn't always work, but that's bluetooth for you. This one came with all the "bells and whistles" which would be great... except there are catches to being able to use the bells and whistles. I bought this for Android Auto connectivity specifically which cost extra, but you can't use Android Auto unless you're in park. So just beware before you buy that some of the functionalities of this won't work unless you jump through a lot of hoops. The system itself doesn't have "Sirius XM Satellite Radio" it just has the "ability" to connect to it if you have it. I didn't realize that either. Feels like money wasted. If you don't need these perks, you're better off buying the cheaper version.

Great sound as well .... and plenty of options

I gotta say i really love this receiver. I have an older S-10 with manual transmission and it is nice to have hands free calling. I really wanted it for that and for the big screen to use with google maps/waze. This is the first time i've owned anything like this. I did install it myself and it wasn't all that bad.

Excellent. Above expectations. I did the install myself in my 07 gt/cs. Paid The 20 bucks to have crutchfield put the wiring together and it was plug and play replacing my shaker 500. Great way to bring the 07 into 2018.

Pros: Everything it says it does and it does it well

    AWESOME unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

AWESOME unit. Install wasn't as cut & dry as described for my 05 Durango. The shape of the sleeve that the radio goes into is V-shaped, where the sleeve gets smaller as you push the radio threw. I used my dremel to cut the sleeve at the top where the V shape is smaller...then I was able to install.i also didn't use the the face plate from Crutchfield because it required modifications, I got mine online. The easiest and clean install is to get a bezel with navigation and a double din faceplate

Pros: Can mirror link phone to radio,GREAT picture and sound to go with the 3 amps & crossover

Cons: Medications is needed to the bezel and sleeve for 05 Durango without navigation

    Stereo fits perfect

Jeff from Pembroke, MA on 4/2/2018

    2008 Toyota Tundra
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent product. Would definitely recommend. I had researched other similar models like the Kenwood, I landed on the Pioneer, I'm very pleased. All of the mounting equipment trim plates etc fit perfectly from Crutchfield. Stereo sounds great, I upgraded the stock speakers to Kickers, and what a difference. Installed myself in about 2 hrs, in a 2008 Tundra. Looks great. Longest amount of time I spent was soldering up the stereo to electric connector, that took about 50 minutes of the 2 hours.

Pros: Very easy to navigate through screens, very intuitively set up. Sounds Great, way way better than stock

Cons: My only complaint is the inability to use Waze with my Iphone on the stereo. Not the end of the world, but I'd love to use the 7.2" display for navigation. Too bad they don't make the stereo to Tundra electrical adapter all made up, that took most of the time. But once done, it plugged right in and worked the first time

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like this head unit. It can do everything I want or need. I just wish Car Play could be achieved without being tethered to the cord. This really brought my 2008 Jeep Wrangler into 2018. I even installed the backup camera and it works great. Crutchfield had excellent customer service, excellent price! I love the plug and play wiring and the bonus was they connected the wiring for me for a very inexpensive charge!! I was missing an antenna piece and Crutchfield sent a replacement out immediately!! Thanks Crutchfield!!

Pros: Great sound. HD radio is clear. Bluetooth is excellent.

    Cons: lack of instructions

    2006 Dodge Ram 1500
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in an '06 Dodge Ram 1500 with a factory non-NAV deck. I've have been away from car audio DIY for many years. I browser shopped for many weeks before I decided on using Crutchfield and choosing this deck. I went to 2 different local stereo shops with great reputations and got full install quotes. I was quoted nearly twice what is was going actually cost me to do it myself. I couldn't be happier with my decision. The instructions were a little lacking for the wiring portion of the install but I blame that on my lack of knowledge of modern 12V wiring. Back in my teenage years there was no NAV, Satellite Radio, Android Auto, CarPlay, etc. Just power, memory, remote (or amps or a power antennae) and speakers. So, I had to call Crutchfield to get started on the wiring. Viewing the photos, you can see the flawless install on the deck. The purchased trim kit conceals the rounded cutouts from the stock deck. The wiring photo was prior to crimping install and done on the work bench. The supplied factory deck harness which is plugged into the deck at the bottom of the photo is crimped to the purchased OEM replacement harness using color coordination in the upper right of the photo which plugs into the harness in the truck and also plugged into that little black box in the upper left. The box is so light and non assuming I initially thought it was useless. But after speaking with a Crutchfield Rep, it made perfect sense. Hope this helps anyone who is overwhelmed by the wiring.

Pros: Looks great Lots of features Additional add-on options Great Customer Service Looks like Factory Install

Cons: Wiring slightly confusing due to lack of clear or directions Anroid Auto doesn't always pair initially. I think it is my settings though. Still playing that.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product! Pioneer always delivers. iPhone Car Play is amazing. We tried several model iPhones. All worked perfectly, except we had parental controls turned on our daughters phone so it wouldn't work initially. Not the stereos fault. We had to unlock and turn on "car play" in the iPhone settings, then had to read from some forums.... had to restart the iPhone for the settings to take effect. Now that phone (iPhone 6s) works great also. Again, not the stereos issue, just wanted to mention this for others who may think the car play feature has something wrong when it very well could be a problem in your phone settings. 5 or newer should work. Good Luck!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product exceeds my expectations. Having the ability to use Waze, listen to my music collection, make phone calls, summon google, and retain the steering wheel controls is awesome! This replaced the factory HD radio unit with Bluetooth and 6 speakers. I didn't have a great place to place and see my phone hands free, and listening to my music over bluetooth would sometimes not seems loud enough, and the stock system sometimes had difficulty switching back to music after making a phone call. Call audio is much clearer, I think the mic is better too, I ended up clipping it to the lower right corner of the instrument cluster. Audio volume is greatly improved over the stock system, and much clearer. I have a long commute that has varying levels of traffic and multiple routes, so having Waze and its real time traffic updates is a must. And it is certainly much safer to quickly glance at the NEX's large screen and keep my peripheral vision on the road rather than having to illegally glance and/or fumble with my phone while driving. The only real drawback is that I was not able to successfully install the factory rearview camera to the NEX. The NEX does have the capability, but to my knowledge there is not an easy way to isolate the camera feed from the small factory information screen without cutting wires behind the dash. My intent with this install was not to cut any factory wires for a true plug and play system. I accomplished that thanks to Crutchfield!

Pros: Sound Android Auto Improved Bluetooth audio quality Integration with steering wheel controls Ease of use Pioneer quality

Cons: Could not successfully integrate rear view camera

Nice unit, but UI is confusing.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed it a week ago. Overall I like being able to stream Pandora and use Google Maps or Waze. I really like the features that allow me to see engine gauges and tire pressure. The biggest weakness is the user interface. It can be really confusing to understand what mode it is in, and how to get to where you want to be. One big quirk is that it will, with no touch from me, suddenly switch from HD Radio to Pandora. It happened to me 3 times today in my 25 minute drive to work.

    Pros: Android Auto is great.

Cons: The user interface is confusing, not very intuitive. Switches from HD Radio to Pandora on its own.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unit exceeded my expectations. I was hesitant to go with Pioneer because of absurdly slow load time on a unit I had many years ago. I am happy to report, the OS on this works very well, and the Apple Carplay is awesome. Why pay for a navigation headunit when Carplay will give you all the same functionality with up to date maps (free). Another very pleasant surprise was the fantastic sound quality. I was blown away by how much better my stock system sounded simply by swapping out the head unit. I have always felt speakers/amp were most critical, but have newfound respect to what a dramatic difference a solid headunit can make.

This unit is a great update to the 12 year old OEM radio. So many great features and I especially like Apple Carplay. The sound is awesome with the factory speakers and amp.

Cons: Installation was pretty involved and took some time to complete. Pioneer's installation document could be better.

I purchased a Kenwood before this Pioneer and it died on me within a week. Glad I changed to Pioneer! The ui is spot on, and the extras are great. Downsides are the lack of documentation for what all the bells and whistles are. Also, the backup camera I already had installed on my jeep isn't compatible with this hu. They expect you to buy their products or deal with having a subpar experience, which isn't good business.

Awesome head unit. Clear, crisp display, filled with features, favorite is Apple CarPlay. Plenty of ports on the back of the unit to set up whatever crazy system you want. Coworkers are jealous!

Pros: Apple CarPlay, HD radio, iDatalink serial cable port, plenty of audio/video in/out ports.

Cons: Main screen menu is just a little laggy coming up.

I have a similar unit of this type already so the choice was easy. The ease of use & the CarPlay feature is great! HD Radio sounds good with factory speakers. The DVD player built in is a nice option & the look & sound quality is worth the price. I surely would recommend this double din!

Pros: Great look- good sound - CarPlay feature & DVD Player HD radio

    Cons: DVD functions

    Great sound!

    2018 Toyota C-HR
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this thing. It has everything that I need. Apple CarPlay and HD radio were two of the biggest things that I was looking for but also I wanted the ability to retain my steering wheel controls which is track up/down, volume up/down, mode but also wanted to keep my push to talk, hang up/pickup phone features on the steering wheel as well. I wasn't sure that I could do all of this so I called Crutchfield and got the advisor Gus who was very helpful and he researched my car (2018 Toyota C-HR) and confirmed that with the AXXESS ASWC-1 I could keep all of the steering wheel functions and after installing I must say, I couldn't be any happier. The push to talk also works with Siri. After install I noticed that the sound of this thing is a huge improvement over the factory radio.

Pros: Works with steering wheel controls with adapter. Apple CarPlay and HD radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I almost never give a 100% rating to anything, so 4 stars is very good from me. This went in easily, has a large clear screen. The basic functions are easy to figure out, although the obscure items can be a little harder find, but Google is your friend. Android Auto works wonderfully, I LOVE being able to see the map as I drive (even w/o Navigation active), as does my daughter. The only issue I ran into wasn't an issue with the radio, but I'm including it here in case someone else hits this snag. On my phone, I had a battery case. Apparently it interfered with the USB connection for Android Auto, causing it to stop randomly. I removed the case, and no more issues.

Nice receiver for the price, what it does it does well. Sound is good. Android Auto works great. Crutchfield people were helpful and shipping was super fast.

Pros: Good price, Large display, good sound.

Cons: Only 1 USB port, only 6 presets per screen, have to move through several screens to see and select all presets especially for sat receiver. Only able to upload 1 custom background image to use then you must delete it to add a new image.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this head unit. I bough this to replace my factory 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport head unit, as it was the base model. I broke out the metal bracket from behind the factory stereo location as described in the installation directions. It took a bit more effort than I expected, but it eventually broke loose. The radio sounds great even on the factory speakers! Who knew my factory speakers actually had a little range? The installation was pretty easy for the most part. It would have been nice if Crutchfield offered the microbypass so I didn't have to wire the emergency brake wire. I had to source that elsewhere. Without it, half the settings aren't available and updating the firmware is not possible without the e-brake wire setup, too. The HD radio comes in clear. Android Auto works great. Initially it would randomly disconnect and drop the USB connection. I'd have to unplug and replug my phone in to the USB cable. Since I've updated to the new firmware released Feb 27, 2018, it's been working much better. But I needed the microbypass installed in order to upgrade the firmware. I've used Pandora on Android Auto and on Bluetooth and both work great! I've been able to play a couple of DVDs as well. The picture is small, being 7 inches, but it still works well for the passenger.

Pros: Sounds quality Features for the price point

Cons: Requires microbypass instead of just grounding e-brake wire

    Great Purchase

Overall this is a good stereo. That is packed with lots of great features. The HD radio is awesome, the ability to connect two mobile phones via Bluetooth is great, and I love the Apple CarPlay. The response time switching between screens is a little slower than I would like, but it's not bad. During sunny conditions the glare on the screen is pretty challenging.

Pros: Great sound, packed with features, HD radio, CarPlay, DVD, adjustable screen tilt

Cons: Delay in switching between modes is a little slower, glare on the screen is challenging

Has a few issues. First thing I noticed is that the auto-dimmer is useless. Frequently dims during the day where I can't see the screen, and bright at night. I ended up having to manually dim and brighten the screen. Very annoying. The Navigation with Google Maps through Android Play is worthless. My phone screen won't stay on, and every time the screen times out, the stereo says GPS signal lost and the Nav quits working. I have the most recent software and screen settings are set to always on in the app. Just doesn't work. When using the Google voice prompts, the voice response's volume trails in and out where you can't hear it. The OS is a little laggy and slow at times, especially when loading into Android Play. During Android play, the screen seems to just go black, then come back at random. And the final complaint...7" of screen and the song title is programmed to scroll so you can't see the entire artist and title. You have to stare and wait for it to slowly scroll the info. Just an annoyance.

Compared to the Kenwood I returned, this should get 7 stars. Much better RCA output (as another reviewer proved with a voltmeter...thanks!). ZERO noise. The menus are fast and it can read a 64 GB USB drive (Kenwood was 16 GB max). All in all, this seems like an EXCELLENT choice, but I'll admit that I have only had it installed for a few hours. If you are cross-shopping Kenwood and Pioneer, stop right now and buy Pioneer. This is coming from someone who was never a Pioneer fan and has had about 5 Kenwood decks in my life.

Awesome deck. Had a Kenwood 773bh but I could never get the white noise to go away. Finally just bought this Pioneer and wow! What a difference. This 2330nex is so clean. Buy this. For comparison, and they will all be a little different. The 2330 next advertises a 4v preamp out. So did the Kenwood 773BH. Here is the actual clean output measured with o-scope. Recorded max clkean that all chanmels would maintain. Kenwood 773BH -> 1.97v before clipping. Vol 30 of 35. Pioneer 2330nex -> 6.04v before clipping. Vol 39 of 40.

Pros: Clean underrated preamp. 3 way network mode. Will support NTFS drives. Also supports .mkv files.

Cons: Idatalink integration on my 2015 Cherokee TH is sometimes odd on the climate control screen. I'm sure this will be addressed with a FW update. Do not know if it is the Maestro RR module or the Deck.

Pretty nice head unit. Has lots of connections on it. Pretty easy to install. Only complaints are it is a tiny bit slow sometimes. They really should put in a faster processor. Other than that, works pretty well. I don't look forward to having to take it out of the dash if I want to install a backup camera or plug in an aux cable, but I doubt I'll be doing either of those anytime soon. The aux cable especially is pretty redundant considering all of the audio choices you get with this unit. It would be nice to customize the steering wheel controls a bit for like long presses of my source or track/preset up/down buttons so I could do other things, but it isn't a big deal. I can just reach over and hit the couple buttons on the head unit easy enough. :) One thing I will say is that the screen is affected by polarized lenses in sunglasses. I have to twist my head slightly when I am driving in bright sunlight so I can see the screen. LOL

Pros: Lots of audio sources Lots of connections Easy enough to install

Cons: A tiny bit slow sometimes No long warning screens at start up (goes away in like 6 seconds or so) A bit large and kinda hard to move around when hooking things up while putting in the dash Screen is affected by polarized lenses on sunglasses Screen gets dirty pretty quick by fingerprints but that isn't too bad of a con

Great radio if you are looking for something that works with your smartphone navigation apps and music. Works flawless with android auto and waze. Great upgrade from stock radio. Sounds good. Nice display. Plenty of options. Did work with my 2009 Tahoe even though Crutchfield shows it as incompatible. A little overwhelming to figure best setup. Ended up using Android Auto, Waze, and Google Play Music (for mp3s on phone). Pioneer Appradio did not appear useful to me. Note: current Android Auto app has a bug. If "OK Google" does not work turn off "OK Google" setting and it will work.

Pros: Android Auto Good sound Nice, large display OK Google commands HD Radio

Cons: Have to wait for radio to fully boot for backup camera to work or get black screen. Loudness control not variable (big difference between low and mid). Only one usb jack (cannot hookup phone and flash drive at same time). Cannot set volume for guidance and Google assistant separately. Favorite stations divided in 3 groups of six. Channel Up/down only work with one group at a time. These are all very minor things. Great radio overall.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the receiver to upgrade from my 2010 Accord oem receiver. It is a very nice upgrade especially combined with the back up camera which was a big part of what I was after. My regret is that I didn't upgrade the speakers and add an amp. The blue tooth is very sketchy with the phone when making a call or receiving a call. The android auto app is ok, but has some limitations. For some reason, when responding to a text via voice, it adds in the response text message "what is your text." I told it to start over and it keeps automatically adding, whats your text, as part of the text message. The receiver has some cool EQ functions that are preset like, Powerful, or vocal, but also allows two custom settings. The factory sound without an amp or better speakers is not ideal.

Pros: Great with back-up camera, Multiple EQ setting, attractive styling

Cons: blue tooth needs a lot of work. Making or receiving calls through the receiver is not ideal. Not sure the mic needs improvement and the way the sound is routed through the speakers is terrible. The sound quality using blue tooth needs work. Not sure if better speakers and an amp would really help?

I originally purchased the MVH-2300NEX, but I didn't realize that didn't have HD radio. This one does, plus CD/DVD. For the price, you will not find a better unit IMO. I mean, HD radio, DVD player, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, all baked into a Pioneer deck? I honestly don't know what other features you would need. The screen is great. I have been a Pioneer deck owner for over 20 years now, probably having over a dozen of them in various vehicles. I can honestly say this is the best one I've owned.

Pros: Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, DVD, Great Screen, Customizability, Pioneer name

Cons: Nothing that I've found so far

Fantastic product! I have always used pioneer products, but with how fast technology is going this was the best for your buck. Having the ability to use navigation without buying a Navi unit was a big plus using Android Auto. The functionality and features of this unit are 10 out 10 in my opinion. Easy install by coupling this with the Maestro RR and Chrysler CP-2 adapter.

After researching numerous radios, i decided on the Pioneer AVH-2330NEX to drive my system and i couldn't be more pleased! This radio has every feature I wanted and options to expand if I so desired. The HD receiver, Cd/DVD player, Bluetooth syncing, phone calls, and USB features all work great! Installation took longer than anticipated due to slight modifications to the installation kit, but no fault of the radio. My install included replacement of all speakers, adding 2-12" Rockford Fosgate P3 subs, an Alpine X-A90V amp to drive it all and a back-up camera. This head unit works fantastic!

Pros: Easy to use features, buttons are easy to access, great sound and picture, unit has many features to address what your music media;CD, radio, Usb, Bluetooth thru phone. Because of my extensive music collection, I chose to add a 128Gb flash drive with my collection to usb port. I love how i can easily select the artist or activate the Mixtrax feature to create a music mix for my travels.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This radio is a significant improvement over the Toyota Entune radio from the factory in my 2014 Toyota Tacoma. The CarPlay system is great and hopefully will get better when Apple allows other apps such as Google Maps and Waze. The unit itself is very solid, works as expected, is much easier to use than some of the past units I have purchased from Pioneer and Kenwood. The Pioneer AppRadio functionality still seems to be a bit flakey but that may be because of iOS11 as I wasn't able to test with iOS10. Hopefully, that will be worked out between Apple and Pioneer and I will be able to use Waze in AppRadio mode. The unit even without an external amp makes my upgraded speakers sound much cleaner and better bass. My steering wheel controls work perfectly with the iDatalink Maestro. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and the help provided by the advisors and tech support at Crutchfield. I have been a Crutchfield customer since about 1980 and plan to be for life. Thank you!!!

Pros: Quality, Ease of Use, CarPlay, Great Screen, iDatalink interface for steering wheel controls, better sound than factory

Cons: AppRadio is a bit flakey with iOS11, hopefully, to be fixed with software updates.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent! The bluetooth connects with my Note 8 within seconds, and call clarity is great. The sound coming through the factory speakers is SO much improved over the lame stereo that came in my CR-Z. It seems to have better FM reception, too. In my car, the screen is very easy to see, and the touchscreen is FAR more responsive than that "K" brand (adjusting the EQ is no longer an all-day job). Searching for a particular track is also far quicker and easier, but could be improved. So far, everything that I've tried is working as advertised.

Pros: FM reception is very good. Sound quality is excellent. Auto-connects with my phone almost immediately. Responsive touchscreen.

Cons: No cons at all, really.

It was fairly easy to install into my 2014 Ram 1500 (only had to sawzall out one piece of metal - lol). But it looks almost factory. I added a backup camera as well - which was super easy to install. I also used the data maestro, and everything works great. I would definitely recommend this stereo.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice sound upgrade for features that weren't around when the vehicle was new. CarPlay works well. CarPlay navigation works better than on the phone itself. Siri integration is nice and phone calls are clear. I was not sure if I would hear the sound quality improvement, but the sound quality is much better than the factory radio. The highs are a bit muted, but I have heard that is likely due to the built in factory amp and not the receiver. The is decent enough that I do not feel the need to bypass the amp or upgrade the speakers. I have heard mixed comments about HD radio in general, but I think that it is an improvement. The install looks very clean and gives some life to an old vehicle. I have not installed a backup camera yet. For my vehicle, I ended up braking the plastic away with a pliers and then I also needed to cut the metal brace with a smaller reciprocating saw. I started with a Dremel, but that seemed a little slow. That may have worked better if I had better quality cutoff wheels. I cut lower than indicated in the instructions and just above a rivet to get more room for the blade to move without puncturing the ducting.

Pros: Sound, Bluetooth, CarPlay, Carplay Navigation, HD Radio, Hands-Free Calling

Cons: Not a con, but DVD capability was not a strong need. Pioneer wiring directions are very poor.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, this is a pretty full-featured and easy to use receiver. I replaced the stock radio in an 06 Pathfinder, and it's an unbelievable improvement in every way. For everything it can do, the interface is intuitive enough that you don't need a user manual once it's installed. CarPlay worked right away without a hitch, setting up Bluetooth was as painless as could be, steering wheel controls were working straight away (Axxess ASWC-1interface), and no problems getting satellite radio activated and working. The sound isn't an improvement over stock - if anything, it might be a little worse, but that's not surprising, and speaker replacement is next on the list. Still, there are some gripes, some minor, some not. During installation, I found that the connector for the recommended satellite radio tuner (SXV300V1) has the tuner's plug bending at an awkward angle. It's an L-shaped plug, and the cord is directed straight up at the top of the receiver. Not a problem for this installation, per se, but in a tighter-fitting install this could be a problem. Also, the Pioneer AppRadio app, or AppRadio Next, I wasn't sure which one was preferred, is some useless trash, at least the current version with this receiver. It's needed for displaying Waze on the receiver screen, and it just shows a black screen instead. Finally, it'd be nice to disable some of the modes I don't use, like Pandora or the regular radio. But I still love this receiver.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit to install in a 2011 Toyota Sienna when the OE radio died. I have a similar unit in my truck, and am happy with it, so decided to stay with Pioneer for the van. I really don't see that this unit has any characteristics that set it apart from the competitors. During install, I did have to call Tech Support. I must say that they were top notch. I was prepared to be in the perpetual wait mode, but the Tech guy answered almost immediately once I got through the "push this button for..." tree. One serious issue I have with Pioneer, is there installation instructions and owner's manual. The installation in instructions are borderline worthless, as they are confusing, use ultra small print and graphics, and everything is in black and white. Hey Pioneer - would it kill you to produce your instructions in color, and at a size that normal people could read without a magnifying glass? Color is particularly handy when dealing with color-coded wiring. If they had decent instructions, I would have given them four stars. If they would be something more than average as compared to competitors, I would have given them five stars. Pioneer's bright spot was their Tech Support. This was also a very bright spot for Crutchfield, whose Tech Support was top notch.

    Pros: Tech Support

Cons: Horrible installation instructions, and owner's manual.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the unit to replace the stock Uconnect 5.0 radio in my 2016 RAM Promaster 3500. The recommended installation kit did not interface properly with my vehicle. I lost all Uconnect functions and half of the steering wheel audio/phone controls. The provided instructions did not match the layout of my stock double DIN configuration. I had to remove two brackets on the sides of the space and move two of the existing clips from the sides to the bottom to use the Metra kit. I did some research on the interface kit and found the correct one. Crutchfield support has agreed to replace the kit. I hope they'll learn from my experience and provide the right kit to future purchasers. The unit itself does everything well that I was looking for. It's screen is bright, clear and responsive. The audio is great and easy to adjust. I use Apple CarPlay in my configuration.

Pros: The Pioneer head unit performs really well.

Cons: Initial installation kit and instructions were incompatible.

I upgraded my 2007 Tundra plus I added 4 new 6 3/4 Kicker speakers. I could not be happier! I use a samsung 7 with it. Some times it wont auto connect when in my pocket but it will always auto connect when I place it beside the unit. It will put either Google maps or waze on the screen if I opt to use the cable and plug in android auto. Mostly I just use Bluetooth and pandora. You can not beat the hands free capabilities. I like taking on the phone with it recipients don't know i am on speaker phone. Just lower the A/C fan and no one knows. Hey Goggle is my go to friend with this unit. It is like I purchased a new ride.

Pros: Great Sound and lots of buttons to play with you will be busy learning stuff. YouTube it!

Cons: Downloadable manual from Pioneer web site does not come with one. Watched a few Youtubes to learn it best. My Samsung 7 workers great with but my son has a older LG phone no work so good lags. Newer phone a must.

I bought this coz it is advertised as compatible with android autoplay and also it accepts camera. I connected exactly as described in the Crutchfield directions. Now here are the problems. my camera works but i have to manually press the camera view from the menu after putting it in reverse gear. about android auto, it connects sometimes and sometimes not. maps works sometimes and sometimes a huge lag. The software is so buggy. It also sometimes says it is not compatible with software with phone (my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 3). I also tried to update but pioneer has no firmware updates for this. They also says it is limited model (limited lemons perhaps). I will never trust reviews in Crutchfield from now on. its probably from their staff.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This may be premature as I have only had the unit for a while, but so far I regret the purchase. Sound quality is very good, but I cannot figure out how to use many of the features. No user manual came with it, I called Crutchfield and was told a manual, would be e-mailed to me, but the e-mail I got seems to be an add for equipment. It's a pain trying to learn what various menu items do by trial and error. Worse, it only seems to work with Waze or Google Maps, and I was surprised at how bad Apple's GPS is. So I wind up using the Pioneer as a radio and telephone, and keep my iPhone in the window so I can get a decent GPS.. Will probably drive to Charlottesville, see if someone can instruct me, and then decide if I want to keep it. The sound is so superior to the original equipment that I may put up with it, but I am not a techie and I hate having to figure out what to me is a complex machine without any guidance. And I am really unenthusiastic about being limited to Apple's GPS. That's not Crutchfield's fault; the salesman warned me before I bought it that I would have to give up Waze, But I was really taken aback by bad Apple is at rush hour in DC.

Pros: Nice sound quality and bright screen.

Cons: Not easy to learn how to use, works only with Apple's GPS, and generally frustrating.

Sound quality is fantastic. The screen is very responsive and easy to see at all times. The dimmer doesn't seem to really....dim. I played around with the settings and it's just super bright night or day. The only other thing that is a bit annoying (which may be an Android Auto issues more than anything) is that the Audio coming from Google will sometimes only come out of the two front speakers instead of all 6 speakers so it will be super quiet, then suddenly loud and quiet again. Same when it's reading out text messages. Likely an AA issue than the head unit. Overall I am very very pleased with this unit.

Pros: Responsive clean looking interface. High quality audio. Multiple devices on bluetooth. Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatible.

Cons: Dimmer function not quite up to par.

Things were fine for only one week (Although I drove only during that weekend). The second week, as soon as I started my car play, I saw a bit lag. Thought might be a minor glitch and ignored. During song play from phone ( I was using Gaana, an online music library ) there was a disconnect several times. I thought it might be an error with my internet connection on the phone. Today, when I drove to the store: -> CarPlay was very slow in launching. -> Maps hung several times while driving. ->Music was a disaster. There was a disconnect in musicplay (even voice guidance was hung several times). ->Finally, the screen turned black... PITCH BLACK in the middle of my trip. I had to keep my phone in my hand and look for directions. The only thing that works flawlessly is the HD radio and bluetooth. I guess carplay is the major issue as I haven't found any issues with the receiver as a whole. If I have to stop my car on a highway to replug the device or if I still have to use phone maps then the device has failed. Not sure if mine is a defective piece. It's been only two weeks and i've driven with carplay about 5 times only now.

Pros: good display sound is great bluetooth and radio works flawlessly

Cons: Carplay doesn't work. Huge lags in carplay whether maps or voice guidance or music from phone.

A competent device with a few flaws and missing features. 1st the flaws: The media player forgets the shuffle setting when powered down. Equally frustrating is that if you have chosen to play one artist then shuffle, reactivating the shuffle after powering up the player, the device shuffles the entire library, not the artist that previously selected. If the display is angled when powered down, when powered up afterwards, the display is reset to flush with the body but the memory within the system doesn't recall that, preventing the screen to be moved out for inserting / ejecting discs. Missing features: Artist / Track alert for SiriusXM, would happily forgo the "featured channels" presets to get them. Proper play artist / album only for media player, this and the above flaw does not bode well for the abilities of their digital media only players.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pioneer has delivered an excellent car audio receiver, with most of the bells and whistles available on expensive units, at a substantially lower price! Firstly the audio quality is excellent. Regardless of input (Carplay / Android Auto, CD, Tuner) the unit delivers a clean, low noise , open sound. The menu layout is intuitive, finding items or switching between carplay and the pioneer app is easy and snappy. I love that I only need one cable for Apple or Android . Also being able to simultaneously bluetooth two phones is marvelous. After calibrating the touch screen, found it to be very, accurate and sensitive, quite possibly the best I have ever experienced on a car unit. With that said I find the continued use of a low contrast screen a disappointment. No matter what brightness or contrast setting, no matter what app or light condition I found the screens saturation and contrast abysmal (raised black level to be to precise) . Don't get me wrong it's no worse than the typical receiver touch screen but this is 2017 , there is no excuse for this - every smartphone costing more than $100 has better contrast and color - come on man !! One other pet peeve is that the aux in is on the back of the radio, if you don't attach an extension at time of installation get ready to pull the radio... Also the time alignment is suspect . It produces a spread image but sounds somewhat phasey (my speakers are 100% in phase). Will do more testing to determine cause..

Pros: Audio Quality Touch sensitivity and accuracy (after calibration) Single cable Carplay / Android Auto Menu layout intuitive Easy install - didn't need the brackets or dash face sold by Crutchfield...

Cons: Dated Display Technology / Low Contrast Time Alignment Questionable Auxiliary In located on back of radio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have had this in our '04 Toyota Highlander for a couple of months now. Actually really like the unit, no regrets on the purchase. I also have the Pioneer rear view camera for it, which was very challenging to install on this car, but that was because of the liftgate hatch, not the product. The Crutchfield team was very helpful on sending me photos on where to find the wires I needed in the factory harness for the parking brake and reverse power connections. Be aware that this unit makes it a pain (a little) to try to play videos while driving, for good reason (which I think is a BAD IDEA, btw). The install guide sheet provided for our vehicle was dead-on, made it very easy to install the unit.

Pros: Great sound from the original factory speakers, better than expected. Interface very easy to use. Rear camera integration is great, I especially liked the lines you can customize for your vehicle. Bluetooth connection works reliably. Pandora integration is excellent.

Cons: Install instructions are lousy. Not a lot of detail, print is too small! Have to download and print the manual if you want more detail. And some of the customization options can only be set if the car is parked and the parking brake set, which the install docs failed to mention (took me awhile to figure that out). Android Auto with my wife's Samsung S7 is not usable, too limited and the touch screen gets very sluggish and numb.

Pros: Easy install, great sound, Apple car play, vehicle info, great call quality

Cons: Need a separate adapter for Sirius satellite radio

Made me fall in love with my car again!!! My factory radio was the pits. Those radio provided all the features I desired and a few extra. The carplay feature offered the ability to listen to my music, access features of my iPhone that I otherwise wouldn't have and overall brought my car back to life. The only quirk I've found is with the dialpad in carplay mode which won't allow me to to dial 9 in the eighth digit spot however that's really not a major issue. Great in-dash aftermarket radio!!

Pros: CARPLAY, Bluetooth audio, remote control, sleek design, motorized display.

Cons: Quirk with built in keypad dialer

4 stars because I am having problems with the motorized mechanism - unit sticks in the full slant position (Metra 99-7505 Double DIN 1994-2006 Mazda Tribute). The tech guy who installed the unit said it was a bit tight but I am taking it back to have them adjust it because I don't think I should have to push it back in when down. Otherwise sounds great, tons of features. Had originally bought the AVH-1330NEX (Apple Carplay only) but glad I exchanged it for the AVH-2330NEX model (Carplay and Android Auto).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, the unit is pretty great. Looks good, sounds good. HD radio is nice and the Apple CarPlay works nicely. It's a shame you cant use Google Maps with CarPlay, but that is a limit imposed by Apple. Amazon Music will occasionally not respond on the head unit, but will still respond on the phone, but the display never updates or changes. I have to close Amazon Music on the phone and then relaunch it before it clears up. The biggest issue I have with the unit is the Pioneer AppRadio feature is a joke. It doesn't work at all. It causes the head unit to lockup and become unresponsive while trying to launch the app. Furthermore, it prompts you on the phone to allow the application to use your phone, so you have to look at the phone and say OK almost every time. That pretty much defeats the purpose. Doing that will get the app to launch on the head unit. However, when trying to launch Waze from the AppRadio interface, it opens on the phone only. It never shows up on the display of the head unit. I am not sure what else i have to do to get it to work on the Pioneer's display but it wont work. It seems extremely useless and there needs to be a lot more development work on that piece and it shows. I wouldn't even tout it as a feature really. Other than that, its a nice unit. I would still buy it again.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been using the AVH-2330NEX for about 2 weeks. Overall it's an excellent product, but has a couple minor quirks, mainly with the iDatalink Maestro module. The factory F150 display shows time in 24-hour format instead of 12-hour even though I have 12-hour selected on the radio. The Pandora source works great, but every once in a while it fails to connect with my phone even though Pandora is running on by Android phone. I don't know if it's the Pioneer or my phone causing the problem, but I have to disconnect bluetooth and then reconnect to get it to work again. The auto-dimming feature works good, but I had issues on a cloudy/rainy day where the screen would be so dim that I couldn't read it. I wish Android Auto would do some functions over bluetooth like phone and text instead of having to plug it in to the USB cable. I also wish I could use the factory microphone through the iDatalink Maestro instead of having to run the separate pioneer microphone. Other than those very picky, minor issues, this radio is awesome. The sound quality of the AVH-2330NEX is light years ahead of the factory radio. It's like the difference between AM and FM. Mids and Highs are crisp even with the factory speakers. I plan on replacing the factory speakers and adding a small subwoofer in the future. The menus and screens are laid out nicely and seem very intuitive. I haven't had to refer to the owner's manual at all to figure out how to operate. Overall excellent product

Pros: Great interface Great sound Many features

Cons: Auto-dimming has some issues with cloudy days. Pandora has some issues connecting once in a while

I wanted to wait a while before I reviewed this radio. I wanted to really check it out. I think it's great and worth the money. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 Stars was because I think the app radio could be better. There's only a few apps that it actually works with for Android. The auto Android still doesn't work so I ended up downloading the Pioneer AppRadio. They really need to work on the Android connectivity instead of the iPhone connectivity because it does suck. Not everybody is into iPhones or iPads. That was the only problem that I had with it.

Pros: I love the touch screen and the overall radio.

Cons: They could work on the Android auto app.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off, I want to thank Crutchfield for their phenomenal customer support throughout both the buying and installation process. Patient, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. Great company culture. Second to none. The head unit has exceeded my expectations. It was installed into a 2010 Acura TSX Base Auto. I was initially torn between this unit and the Pioneer 4201nex. I had no need for HDMI, dual zone, or SD card reader. Experience: 2 weeks in. The unit is very responsive. The processor speed and touch screen response rate are fast. The display is clear and sharp. Slight glare. Pinch to zoom not missed. The 2017 UI is clean. The sound is amazing with factory speakers! Auto EQ was done with Pioneer microphone. I primarily use XM radio and Carplay. Beyond happy. The only issue I've run into with Carplay was a missing red circle around a notification. An iPhone reboot resolved issue. I can't wait for lane guidance and speed limits in iOS 11! It should be noted that I have an unlimited data plan, so streaming data in Apple Maps and Apple Music must be considered. Siri shines. I installed the Pioneer backup cam in the default location for the tech package. It works flawlessly. Installation: I recommend the ReadyHarness service. Time saver. Tech support is A++. I was able to pick the Acura clip to switch the USB in my center console. Looks OEM. Fit the aux in there too. Only issue was PAC SWI-CP2. I needed to custom map a long press for

Pros: Responsive, Relaible, Great Sound, Big Screen, CarPlay, XM Radio, Multivolume for Guidance, Notifications and Audio.

Cons: Slight glare in extreme sun

Needs minor improvement but pretty happy so far.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the first pioneer head unit I've ever bought. What grabbed my attention was the clean looks. No excessively gaudy controls. I've had it in a little over two weeks now. Many of the menus seem redundant and I'm a little disappointed in the adjustability of sound control (i.e. The built in crossover lack of hertz cutoff adjustment. It only allows you to change the slope.). The other gripe I have is not being able to just pull a picture for your screensaver right off your phone. You have to load the picture onto your pc and then USB thumb drive and then the head unit. With that being said, the overall sound quality and picture is pretty awesome. The motorized screen is a nice feature to adjust the angle making it easier to view the screen. Spotify is and has been one of my favorite apps on my phone. Having the ability to control the app from this stereo is a big plus in my eyes. It does lock up from time to time and I have to physically turn it on via my phone which isn't a good thing considering they want you to keep your eyes on the road with CarPlay. Phone calls over the included mic are crystal clear. I did purchase the optional pioneer ND-BC8 back up camera and it does its job well with this unit. Hopefully Pioneer releases an update for the software to give more flexibility to sound quality, fix the little hiccups and maybe delete some of the redundant menus. Overall I'm pleased with the unit and maybe I'm just nitpicking. Would I buy this unit agai

Pros: Picture and sound quality is decent Spotify controls ?? Easy to use Motorized adjustable angle screen

Cons: Needs more audio adjustability for crossovers And possibly for the EQ range Apps sometimes lock up Screensaver loading needs improvement Redundant menus for some features

This unit has all the bells and whistles you need!

It has been over twenty years since I ever bought a pioneer product. I actually think I should have stayed with what I normally go with. What got my attention is the look but I should have waited and done more research. I'm ok with the product and maybe pioneer will have an update for the product. I'm actually not too happy with the lag from switching between apps and let alone when it sticks after you click on an app. Its pretty slow when switching when it hiccups but when it's working it's going good. I see all of the other reviews, makes me wonder if I just got a bad one from the batch! I don't know but I'm just writing what I have experienced so far.

    Pros: Looks good

Cons: Lag between apps and apps stick or do not come on after clicking it.

My truck is affectionately known as "the beast" with my kids. It's a 2004 F150 with 350,000 miles. Last month, I put a new engine and rebuilt the transmission. The installation of this Pioneer receiver completes the resurrection! I have paired the Pioneer with Alpine SPR-68 speakers and had planned to add a 100 watt Pioneer amp to the mix - but I can't imagine giving this thing any more power! And, I've only replaced two of the factory speakers with the Alpines thus far. The difference is hard to describe: the punch of the bass, the pop of the drums, cymbals, strings, so many elements of the music that I just never heard before. My musical taste pretty well runs the gamut - Sinatra, Bocelli, Classic Rock, 70's songwriters, Mumford, 70's funk, Matchbox, modern bands like X-Ambassadors. The only slight disappointment has been the vocals on opera but I'm sure there's an EQ setting that I need to adjust for that. Overall, it is an amazing sounding system. I use my iPhone and the Apple Car Play to make phone calls hands-free, access the maps and navigation from my phone, and stream Spotify/Pandora. Pretty seamless and easy. I think the menus and such on the receiver could be a little more intuitive. Pioneer is trying to walk the fence between their own AppRadio features and CarPlay/Android and it gets a little confusing. I see some of the AppRadio features that I would like to use but haven't spent the time to figure them out just yet. Highly recommended.

Pros: Sounds amazing, plenty of power. Easy integration with iPhone.

Cons: Apple CarPlay/AppRadio dichotomy is a little confusing. I wish someone could make a screen that you could still see with polarized sunglasses on! Picky, I know.

I just installed this a couple of days ago into my '02 Silverado. I know I haven't played with every setting so far, but I have adjusted a lot and have a pretty good feel for it. I'm really liking this receiver. I'm running it in network mode, so active crossovers. The amount of adjustment this allows is great. I'm hearing details in the music I haven't heard before. The time alignment is great, too. I'm running this to a JL Audio HD900/5 with a JL Stealthbox and JBL 609c components. I bought this receiver specifically for the network mode and Android Auto. I love being able to stream and play music via the usb. Although, I have to admit, Bluetooth streaming sounds good on this deck, too.

Pros: Network mode, Android Auto allows usb streaming and playback

Cons: Fingerprints show a lot. But, I have zero complaints otherwise

My wish-list for my 2010 Nissan xTerra was (1) Double Din, (2) Apple CarPlay, (3) HD Radio, and (4) XM Radio ready. The AVH-2330NEX is PERFECT. I originally was looking at AVH-4100NEX, but didn't need the removable face or the HDMI input/output. This is PERFECT! And, the little extra money for the Crutchfield ReadyHarness Service on the harness was SUPER. Works perfect. The radio even dims when I turn my lights on! All in all, total install time was probably less than 1 hour (with lots of double checking instructions). Great service Crutchfield!

Nice radio, tons of features, apple car play and android auto work well. The appradio part pretty much is useless. Integrated in a 2016 Wrangler and works better than factory. My biggest complaint is the resistive touch screen. It doesn't respond very well sometimes and is very shiny and collects fingerprints. Would be nice if it had a capacative touch screen like a phone. Overall it's a nice radio if you're looking for car play or Android auto.

This a great head unit. I installed it in a 2007 Nissan Titan that previously had a Pioneer DVD player. I bought this because I have a 2016 VW GTI that has Android Auto and in that car I love the AA. It's nice that my 10 year old Titan has a head unit that functions like the one in my newer car, makes switching between vehicles easier. However, if I were to complain about anything with the NEX, there are a few annoying things about it: - Needs more USB inputs, or a SD card slot. An older Pioneer we have in the wifes car has both micro-SD and USB. I'd like to have my smartphone connected at the same time a storage USB or SD card was connected. -support for images is spotty, trying to install a custom JPG was frustrating because the NEX would ignore some JPG files on my USB that my VW GTI AA could see just fine. Annoying because it ignored the JPG that I wanted to use as background. Of course I can't say enough good things about Crutchfield! Been using them for nearly 20 years now, they are my first choice.

Pros: High Quality Well sorted firmware Has an actual CD/DVD drive for us old-schoolers HD Radio

Cons: Not enough USB ports or SD slot JPEG file support is glitchy

I really like this unit so far. Car play is a nice and works as expected. I do like the standard Pandora control over the one provided by car play but it is easy to switch between the two. The preset Pandora stations and all of the options available on screen are great. Voice recognition is good and the provided microphone is adequate. The sound quality is good and it has a lot of room for adjustments along with some preset equalizer setting. I used the iDatalink maestro RR interface so I picked up a little extra functionality. I have played around with android auto and it seems fine. I don't really know how to use it since I am primarily an iphone person but it is nice to have the option... Between the documentation from Crutchfield, iDatalink and Pioneer, installation was pretty easy.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all a big Thank you to your support staff! I don't typically have issues with installs but I did pester them to death on this one. I have just completed the install of the Pioneer AVH 2330NEX) in my new to me 2011 2500HD SLT Cummins that was a non-alpine without NAVI. FWIW, it fits but not without substantial surgery. Not only does the plastic trim around the console need to be trimmed, but the metal bracket at the back of the opening was a real PIB. I initially tried to use a pneumatic dremel but progress was far too slow. I eventually went to a Sawzall which did work but ended up breaking the metal bar. The only option will be a Sawzall but you will need to go slow and don't push it like I did. I also discovered that the OEM satellite Antenna is still usable with an inexpensive connector. I also noticed that in previous orders from Crutchfield they included 'shims' if the unit will not be perfectly flush. I did have to come up with shims (1/8th inch) for the upper mounts for the Head Unit. Lastly, this unit does have a CD that 'swings out' to access the CD slot. The trim on the lower level of the OEM cover is too tight and restricts the screen from opening. I do intend to trim this but will do some research first.

Pros: The product is as advertised and I was pleased with another great experience from Crutchfield. I had to call them multiple times and am thankful for their great support. Android Auto functions very well and I love getting NAVI for free updates.

Cons: I did not do my 'homework' and ordered a unit that does not iPod and Android auto at the same time. My fault. Rather than send it back I added SuriusXM since I'm not in this vehicle daily.

Motorized Clear Resistive LCD Touchscreen: The Pioneer AVH-2330NEX features a 6.94" clear resistive LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 (RGB) x 480, for a total of 1,152,000 pixels. The clear resistive panel is designed to enhance the visibility of on-screen graphics and images, making them appear clear and crisp. The touchscreen display allows you to control this unit and a connected component such as an iPod/iPhone, Android smartphone, Bluetooth phone, or USB mass storage class device. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. The angle of the touchscreen display can be adjusted to five different positions to meet your viewing needs in the car.

    • Favorites: You can register the desired menu items on the AVH-2330NEX's "Favorites" menu screen. Registering your favorite menu items allows you to quickly jump to the registered menu item by a simple touch on the favorites menu. Up to 12 menu items can be registered as a "Favorite".

    • OSD + Backgrounds: The color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background display can be selected from 5 different preset displays for the AV Operation screen and 8 different preset displays for the Home Menu screen. In addition, you can change the background display to other images imported from an external USB device.
    • Widescreen Modes: You can choose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video - Full (4:3 picture is enlarged in the horizontal direction only; enabling you to enjoy a 4:3 picture without any omissions), Zoom (4:3 picture is enlarged in the same proportion both vertically and horizontally; ideal for a 16:9 screen), Normal (4:3 picture is displayed as it is).
    • Picture Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for the head unit's video sources and rear-view camera; including brightness (adjusts the black intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast), color (adjusts color saturation), hue, (adjusts color tone), temperature (adjust the color temperature), and Dimmer (adjusts brightness).

Variable Illumination: The AVH-2330NEX offers custom illumination for the front-panel controls so you can match your vehicle's interior, plus MIXTRAX Illumination for DJ-style illumination in your vehicle.

    • Front-Panel Control w/ Custom Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons along the bottom edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color to match your vehicle's interior lighting (112 colors to choose from).
    • MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose among twelve patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music.

Dimmer: The receiver's touchscreen display & button illumination can be dimmed manually, automatically or via a timer. You can set the unit's LCD touchscreen & button illumination to automatically dim when your vehicle's headlights are turned on (this function requires that the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is hardwired to the vehicle's headlight circuit). You can also set a specific time and duration for unit's LCD & button illumination to dim.

Remote Functions: The Pioneer AVH-2330NEX DVD receiver includes a wireless remote control and offers steering wheel control capability (adapter required).

    • Wireless Remote Control: The Pioneer AVH-2330NEX includes an IR remote control (CXE5116) for wireless operation of the DVD receiver and your connected devices. The included remote does offer Bluetooth phone functions.
    • Optional Steering Wheel Controls: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged. The head unit's light green wire must be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. The head unit's touchscreen will display "Attention! Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited", if you try to watch a video when your vehicle is in motion.

Android (Android Auto) & iPhone (CarPlay) Integration

Android Auto: The Pioneer NEX receiver supports the Android Auto app for Android smartphones running OS Lollipop (5.0 or newer). Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the NEX receiver's rear-panel USB port via the included USB extension cable and a microUSB-to-USB cable, plus be paired via Bluetooth (your vehicle's parking brake needs to be engaged to initially setup Android Auto). Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car in a way that's purpose-built for driving and automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into simple on-screen "card-style" pop-ups that appear just when they're needed. It's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead. Features of Android Auto include:

    • Google Speech Technology: The Pioneer NEX receiver enhances your Android Auto experience even more by incorporating Google's Speech Technology using the head unit's external microphone and your car speakers for voice command and text-to-speech, which makes using Android Auto and all of its integrated applications fast, easy, and safe. You will need to press the on-screen "mic" icon to activate Google Speech.

      • Lows: The low-pass crossover for your subwoofers can be set to 26, 31.5, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, or 250 Hz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.

EEQ (Easy EQ) w/ 13-Band Graphic EQ: There are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2. The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 13-band graphic equalizer (50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 1.25k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k, and 12.5k Hz).

Auto EQ (Optional): The auto-equalizer automatically measures your car's interior acoustic characteristics, and then creates an auto-equalizer curve base on that information. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone (130CDMC20, sold separately) is required to use this function. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone plugs into your compatible Pioneer A/V receiver's rear-panel AUX 3.5mm input. The Auto-EQ microphone should be placed in the center of your vehicle's driver seat headrest facing forward for EQ measurement.

Audio Settings: The head unit provides further sound adjustments for your car audio system.

    • Listening Position & Time Alignment: For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right, or Front. You can also select to manually fine tune the sound stage, using Digital Time Alignment (DTA) by selecting the distance (0-200") for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position.
    • Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When the Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Advanced Sound Retriever effect.
    • Bass Boost: You can easily boost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost feature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6 (12dB).
    • Loudness: The Loudness function compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-frequency ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness to High, Mid, Low, or Off.
    • Speaker Level: You can adjust each speaker and sub channel independently from +10 to -24 to best even out the sound in your vehicle.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the unit's FM volume level, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.
    • Auto Level Control (ALC): This function automatically corrects the audio level difference between the music files and/or the sources.

Rear Speaker Setup: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 6 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work with CarPlay, Android Auto, AppRadioLive, Pandora, or Spotify.

Beep Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. You can turn this feature on or off.

    AV + OEM Connectivity

Dual AV Inputs: The Pioneer AVH-2330NEX has dual AV inputs to connect two external audio/video sources. The head unit has a rear-panel 3.5mm minijack AV input for connecting a portable audio/video device. There is also a rear-panel composite video/stereo RCA AV input for connecting a video component such as a mobile TV tuner or game console.

Video Output: The AVH-2330NEX features a rear-panel composite video output that allows you to connect an external display to the unit. You can play back the same video source which is being played on the head unit. You can select the unit to output a 16:9, Letter-Box or Pan-Scan aspect ratio to match your external display's screen size.

Note: CarPlay, Android Auto, & AppRadioLive are not supported by the video output.

Rear-View Camera Input: The AVH-2330NEX is equipped with a composite video rear-view camera input for the addition of an optional backup camera (130NDBC8, sold separately). When the vehicle's transmission is put in reverse, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera (violet/white wire of the harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching). Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.8 seconds. Additional rear-view camera features include:

    • Parking Assist Guidelines: The unit also provides four on-screen guidelines to assist you when backing up and parking your vehicle.
    • Trailer Towing: You can even select for the rear-view camera to stay on at all times, so you can keep an eye on the trailer you are towing.
    • Second Camera: In addition, you can turn the unit's AV input into a second camera input for adding a front camera (sold separately).
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Navigation Ready: The Pioneer AVH-2330NEX allows you to connect the Pioneer AVIC-U280 add-on navigation unit (130AVIC280, sold separately) through its RGB Input. This versatile hideaway unit allows you to switch to navigation mode with the touch of a button. Get to your destination by inputting an address or search through the POI library while enjoying whatever source is currently playing.

iDatalink Serial Port: This Pioneer DVD receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket Pioneer receiver to work with select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system, select GM vehicles with factory OnStar, select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, select Volkswagens with factory digital amplifier, select Toyota/Scion vehicles, and select Fiat vehicles.

    • Retained Features: The Pioneer DVD receiver lets you retain select factory functions. Retained features will vary by vehicle via the iDatalink Maestro RR. Retained proprietary factory systems can include Ford Sync, GM OnStar, and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep U-Connect. Other retained factory features may include Steering Wheel Controls, Aux Input, USB Port, Hands-Free Bluetooth, Voice Commands, Satellite Radio, Secondary Display, and more.
    • Extra Features: In some installations, the iDatalink Maestro RR let you configure the Pioneer receiver's touchscreen monitor to operate interior climate controls and provides extra visual data; such as User Selectable Gauges, Vehicle Info (Tire Pressure/Battery Voltage/Check Engine Codes/Door Ajar Warning), and Visual Park Assist. These extra features will vary by vehicle.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestro RR interface module with the correct firmware from iDatalink's website. In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a vehicle specific harness (sold separately). The Pioneer receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.

    Best radio ever owned!

Written by Carlos, Advisor, on 5/8/2018 7:59:00 AM

I started by looking at this radio because of the nice display it has and all the features it offers like Apple Car Play. But when I installed it on my Subaru Forester, WOW! It's just AWESOME.

I also installed with it the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera and the Microphone for the Auto-EQ feature. When backing up the image is clear and has a great resolution, and the Auto-EQ thing, WOW, it's like magic.

This receiver is so easy to use that now I have to figure out how to take my wife out my car... LOL! Simply loved it! I am more than happy with this radio. I hope it lasts forever.

    Significant upgrade and Increased functionality!

Written by Calvin, Advisor, on 5/7/2018 9:33:00 AM

The AVH-2330NEX head-unit boosted not only the sound in my 2016 Nissan, but it also added some pretty rocking features! The Android Auto is clutch, and the sound quality and microphone reception for the hand-free calling is SOOOOO much better than the factory.

The variable color option for the buttons allowed me to match it up with my factory climate control lights, which makes it look like it is factory itself. The tiltable screen helps cut back on glare and wash out, which is also nice. Overall, this head-unit is well worth it's price.

It has all the features of the higher-end Pioneer units, but no navigation, which I don't need and so don't need to pay for. This unit has the adjustable rear parking assist guide lines, HD Radio, Spotify Control, and Carplay/Android Auto. Doug was a great help in my research. [ Gabriel  Mar 19, 2018 ]

Cool reciever the best [ Oasayan  Jan 30, 2018 ]
It was between the Kenwood, and this. Kenwood had too many refurbished units which I looked as a manufacturer flaw. I did not want something that will potentially need repairing, however I heard Idata is better as well as android auto on the Kenwoods. I opted for Pioneer because it was cheaper, and I have plenty experience with their amps, speakers, and head units. So I chose old faithful. [ Kevin  Jan 26, 2018 ]
I am upgrading my old Pioneer head unit which has been great with no issues so I decided to stick with Pioneer. [ Jason  Jan 25, 2018 ]

After watching several youtube videos about various models including Kenwood DDX9903s, Pioneer 4201NEX, Alpine iLX 207, and some others the 2330NEX seemed to offer the best features for my needs. [ Randall  Oct 31, 2017 ]
Among the reasons I purchased the Pioneer AVH-2330NEX are its Android Auto capability, the flexibility of its motorized display unit, and price. Overall positive reviews and Pioneer reputation also influenced my decision. [ Frank  Oct 17, 2017 ]

    Features I wanted [ Michael  Oct 11, 2017 ]
Pioneer wins the review competition, hands down. But Pioneer navigation is useless, given that this has Waze, CarPlay, Android Auto - so the expensive AVIC series was out. I want Android Auto and HD Radio, knocking out the 1300NEX/1330NEX; a double DIN, knocking out the 3300NEX; CD playback, knocking out the MVH; and the 4201 was $200 more for minor additional features. [ Daniel  Oct 03, 2017 ]
Android auto capability along with hd radio, cd/DVD and satellite radio ready. 50 watt 4 channel amp was a huge selling point. Considered sony xav 100 but decided the extra features were worth the extra dough. [ Julian  Oct 01, 2017 ]
I was looking at a new head unit that worked with Apple Car Play and this unit fit the bill. Nice mix of features and price point. [ Tim  Sep 16, 2017 ]
    Android Auto feature [ Eduardo  Sep 11, 2017 ]

    Yes, it does! [ Stephen  Mar 01, 2018 ]
Yes it does. You can also use Pioneer's Auto EQ mic (sold separately) to automatically adjust it for you. [ Manuel de la  Mar 01, 2018 ]
Yes it does. To calibrate, you'll need to use your own microphone. [ Miguel  Mar 01, 2018 ]
    Yes it does [ Dave  Mar 01, 2018 ]
Yes, but the connector has to be purchased separately. It's easy to do. The wire colors on the wiring harness for the car match the wire colors on the harness for the radio. Just connect the wires. There are videos on youtube. I soldiered the wires then sealed them with heat shrink tubing. [ Robert  Feb 24, 2018 ]
Not directly. You can purchase a conversion harness that plugs into the cars OE harness. It would then be spliced to the radio harness supplied. You never want to cut the cars OE harness. [ Brian  Feb 24, 2018 ]
I use Android Auto with this deck which in fact does show the outside temperature. [ Miguel  Mar 01, 2018 ]
    No [ benjamin  Feb 14, 2018 ]
I have a Pioneer AVH 2330 purchased from Crutchfield in July 2017, and installed in an '06 Ford F-150. The unit supports CarPlay through an iPhone 5S running iOS 11.2.2. [ Mitch  Feb 12, 2018 ]
Car play works fine for me. I have the iPhone X running iOS 11.2.5 [ Christopher  Feb 12, 2018 ]
Latest firmware is version 8.26 which doe NOT correct the AppRadio Mode incompatibility with iOS 11. Only information Pioneer has provided is that they are "working on a subsequent update and will provide notice when it is available". [ Scott  Feb 12, 2018 ]
    *i used*. They still haven't perfected autocorrect. [ Michael  Feb 12, 2018 ]
Unused CarPlay this weekend, no problems. I am using 11.2.2. [ Michael  Feb 12, 2018 ]
Yes, I do it all the time. It even has separate volume controls for the navigation voice and the radio. This Pioneer deck is absolutely even can diagnose and reset a check engine light on your car! [ Todd  Feb 08, 2018 ]
I can attest that radio etc still plays while using Android Auto maps. It also still plays while using AppRadio. So I'm willing to bet it will work with Apple just the same. [ Sean  Feb 08, 2018 ]
I'm not sure about Apple CarPlay or Apple Maps. However, it can do that with Android Auto. [ Michael  Feb 07, 2018 ]
Yes, you can listen to any source, including the radio, while using the Carplay interface for navigation or other Carplay functions. When a text message comes in you can select it, listen to it, and then the current source will continue playing. [ Philip  Feb 07, 2018 ]
Waze DOES NOT WORK with an iPhone using iOS11. Pioneer knows about this issue as it is posted on their website. It has been nearly 5 months since iOS11 was released and they have not fixed the issue. [ pkdesign  Feb 06, 2018 ]

Correct. Only one USB connection. If you use Android Auto, that will consume the USB connection and not allow you to play music from a USB drive. You could try loading the music to your phone and using Android Auto (Google Play Music) to play it. [ Andrew  Jan 31, 2018 ]
Yes that's correct. Honestly, the Android Auto interface isn't very good, very slow and "laggy" if that makes sense. But using a USB drive works very well. My wife uses Pandora via Bluetooth, which has a great interface. I extended the USB connection to inside the glove box, where we keep 64 GB drive installed full of music as backup if she gets in a weak 4G signal area. [ Ken  Jan 31, 2018 ]
Correct, it only has one USB. [ KC  Jan 31, 2018 ]
That is correct. I solved that issue by purchasing a 128gb micro sd card for my phone and filled it with the same music as the 128gb thumb drive I use when not plugging my phone in for android auto. [ Chris  Jan 31, 2018 ]
I installed the pioneer after-market camera with this stereo. I'm not sure about compatibility with factory unit. That stereo is a tight fit in my dodge. When I load/ eject a disc the face gets stuck and I have to push it in pretty hard to get it back in place. Hopefully Ford has larger opening. Also. It takes awhile to load Apple CarPlay. Not long, but it's by no means instantaneous once you connect to phone. [ John  Jan 19, 2018 ]
The unit has an analog "rca" video input for a rear view camera. Also is set up to turn on automatically when in reverse in the wiring harness. Just need to see if existing system has the same video feed. [ Blake  Jan 18, 2018 ]
It might require you to cut and replace the factory ends off of your wiring harness, but since there is a video connection on the back, it is possible. [ Robert  Jan 18, 2018 ]
Yes. It has inputs for two aux video sources. I have a reverse camera, which is triggered by putting the gear selector in reverse. I have added a second camera at the front of the vehicle for parking assistance. [ MICHAEL  Jan 18, 2018 ]
I am un-familiar with the specific wiring of the F150, however, because the camera is linked to a display in your rear-view mirror. It is unlikely that will change when you replace the stereo, unless the factory stereo somehow controls the camera directly. This system is designed to receive any camera input via a single RCA connector. If you desire to show the camera on this stereo unit rather than the rear view mirror, that may involve re-wiring the factory camera as well as re-terminating or using an adapter to connect the factory camera to the RCA jack. Consult a Ford dealer or Crutchfield professional to explore your options for your specific car. [ Tyler  Jan 18, 2018 ]
You can use Google Maps if you have an Android phone with Android Auto capability. The head unit has no built-in nav, but instead relies on your phone to provide any mapping capability. If you have an iPhone, you can use Apple Maps via Apple CarPlay. Waze also works via Android Auto or the Pioneer AppRadiio mode (which is total garbage, sadly). [ Kevin  Jan 17, 2018 ]
You can attach additional navigation unit Pioneer AVIC-U280 to the yellow port on the back. Alternatively you can use Apple Maps if you have iPhone or Google Maps and Waze if you have Android phone. These require data connection. If you are in area where you have no phone reception you will need to use offline maps. Navmii might work with Android but I haven't tested it. [ angel  Jan 17, 2018 ]
Google maps or Waze from your phone. Or Maps from iphone. [ mark  Jan 17, 2018 ]
Your phone can send Google maps Navigation to the unit with Android Auto [ Daniel  Jan 17, 2018 ]
I have android , but I believe you need to hard wire to use apple play [ Thomas  Jan 15, 2018 ]
This radio does not support wireless apple car play. You must use a wire to use car play. You cannisr bluetooth to play music and all other functions. [ Tommaso  Jan 15, 2018 ]
It looks like Apple's iTunes does not support FLAC but will require that you change that FLAC file to another type when you load it to play on an iPhone. Because of this, the only way I know to play FLAC files on this receiver is through a MSC or MTP USB device like a thumb drive with the files on them. My Bio: [ Paul  Jan 15, 2018 ]  Staff
I don't use this unit often, as it's in my wife's car (she loves it). I do know that when she is streaming music with Pandora, using the built-in Pandora app, it does display the album artwork. I haven't tried it with something like Slacker or Amazon Music. I believe it does display album art if I'm using the Pi Music Player playing music directly from my phone, as long as I have the artwork also downloaded and stored on the phone. [ Ken  Dec 27, 2017 ]
I believe it depends on what source you are playing. For Sirius XM, the artwork is displayed probably from the satellite feed. For a USB thumb drive, the artwork comes from the tags on the file. Pandora Bluetooth also displays artwork. Android Auto displays artwork as well. [ Andrew  Dec 27, 2017 ]
I have an android phone and it will display my artwork when I am using Android Auto as well as when I am just playing via bluetooth. It also works when I play files on my USB thumb drive. As long as you have the ID3 tags properly set up on the music file, it will work. [ Chris  Dec 23, 2017 ]
You have to be plugged in via usb. But this has car play and android auto so they would show artwork. Just via Bluetooth does not. [ KC  Dec 23, 2017 ]
It does have a power antenna wire on the harness. My antenna is not retractable but I did have to purchase an antenna adapter to avoid splicing wires. [ Tommaso  Dec 04, 2017 ]
All the vehicles we have looked at so far do not retain the equalizer as that is in the stock radio and comes out this it is removed. However, that's not an issue because the new radio will have one and its usually better. The crossovers that direct specific parts of the frequency range to different drivers should be kept as those are usually built into the amp that powers the speakers or in the speakers themselves. Radio's will output a full range sound which is what a new radio will do with this interface. Feel free to call an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on a radio with the level of control you seek My Bio: [ Paul  Dec 04, 2017 ]  Staff
You're not supposed to be allowed to, but you will find a glitch that allows it! [ Patrick  Nov 30, 2017 ]
Only through your phone, without a connection to it, the radio only provides HD radio or DVD /CD. [ John  Nov 10, 2017 ]
No. The receiver uses your smart phone to stream. The receiver itself will not connect to the internet and act like a computer. [ WILLIAM  Nov 10, 2017 ]
Yes. As long as you have your phone paired or plugged in. [ Carlos  Nov 09, 2017 ]
The Pioneer is great at playing compatible music files from a USB mass storage drive. There is no listed capacity limit for the drive; the stereo will recognize up to 1,500 folders and up to 15,000 total files. You will find this information, and more, by clicking the "Details" tab on the stereo's main webpage and scrolling down below the "Features & Specs" table. The stereo will index the drive the first time it is connected but will not have to re-index unless the contents of the drive are changed. I hope that helps. My Bio: [ Ryan  Nov 01, 2017 ]  Staff
Not long about 10 to 15 seconds. It will have the warning for operating while driving but if you put it in reverse it switches to the back up cam without you having to click OK first. [ Trevis  Oct 20, 2017 ]
It boots up pretty quick, within 15 seconds (depending on how fast you hit the "agree to terms" button). The reverse camera is maybe a 3-5 second delay. [ Patrick  Oct 20, 2017 ]
It is instant, I love the unit, highly recommend! [ SEAN  Oct 20, 2017 ]
I installed mine a couple of months ago. It takes the deck maybe 10-20 seconds to boot up to play, but when I put the car in reverse before the deck is ready, my reverse camera does come on before the stereo is booted up. [ Duane  Oct 19, 2017 ]
The reverse camera is very fast - it will activates within 3 seconds of starting your car if your quickly put it in reverse. It takes longer for the audio stuff to boot up - if I leave it on an FM station when I turn it off it's about 12 seconds after start up that I hear audio. [ Matt  Oct 19, 2017 ]
Yes. The AVH-2330NEX features a rear-panel composite video output that allows you to connect an external display to the unit. This output is not affected by the stereo's parking brake sensor. I hope that helps. My Bio: [ Ryan  Oct 21, 2017 ]  Staff
Have to say I loved the UI and the sound of this pioneer unit. But playback via Bluetooth was torture. The music speeds and slows throughout the stream. I used an Android device. Seems pioneer is having issues connecting devices. I returned mine and got a Kenwood. This likely did not answer your question but know it's not just your unit. [ Karl  Oct 08, 2017 ]
when you plug in the sync cable it wants to auto connect to your phone. If the cord is damaged it may do it over and over. Try charging from the 12v cigarette plug and connecting with just Bluetooth. [ Ian de  Oct 04, 2017 ]
Yes you can add a front facing camera. this model has 2 camera inputs. you need to make sure that the camera you use fro the front that you can change the mirror image so when you look at the camera on the screen what you see on the left is actually on the left. If you can't choose to flip/flop/mirror the image. the left and right will not be correct [ 12vtech  Oct 03, 2017 ]
Yes you can add a back up camera. I read a review where some one added a front camera as well. I hope this helped. [ Marcus  Sep 17, 2017 ]
Yes you can always add a back up camera. No you cannot add a front facing camera. [ Omar  Sep 17, 2017 ]
    Yes to both [ Christopher  Sep 16, 2017 ]
I did back up camera. Not sure about the front but I'm pretty sure you can. There is a two camera option. [ Tyler  Sep 16, 2017 ]
I don't understand the question. High resolution I believe means the screen, which is not in the realm of high resolution (minimum 720). Next, what does work "flawlessly"? [ Miguel  Mar 01, 2018 ]
    Yes [ LORNE  Sep 11, 2017 ]
Should be if you get the proper aftermarket radio harness for your vehicle. [ Seth  Sep 10, 2017 ]
The Pioneer is not compatible by itself. You would need a 3rd party steering wheel control interface. The Pioneer has a jack in the back for wired remote control which is usually where these 3rd party boxes plug in [ James  Sep 09, 2017 ]
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Kenny  Sep 08, 2017 ]  Staff
Compatibility is provided via an adapter like the Metra ASWC-1. Metra does say their adapter works with your vehicle. [ Matt  Sep 08, 2017 ]

When the new IOS update was released the Waze app cannot be displayed anymore. I can hear it but no visual anymore [ Carlos  Nov 09, 2017 ]
You can use the Waze App in Android Auto or Apple Car Play. You could also open it in App Radio mode. There is no built in Waze App on the head unit. You could need your phone to be connected. [ Patrick  Oct 20, 2017 ]

It does not support aptX bluetooth technologies. We do have receivers that have aptX. I recommend calling an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation. My Bio: [ Paul  Aug 24, 2017 ]  Staff
I have a Chevy C4500 but I belive that all chevys have the same box that it fits in. there's a plastic bracket I had to cut out in the back other wise it fit. [ STEVEN M  Aug 23, 2017 ]
I installed mine on a 2012 Jetta and it said it would not fit. I searched ebay for a double din kit and it said it was made to fit most double dins for my car model. Try searching for a double din kit 1st, if there is one then it will fit [ Carlos  Aug 21, 2017 ]

Metra makes a part number AX-HYKIAUSB-2 that will retain the factory usb plug so you don't have to add,cut/modify, or drill in another usb plug as others have mentioned [ 12vtech  Oct 03, 2017 ]
Yes you would have to get an intergration harness, it will plug into the back of the radio through USB and you would plug the factory module into that letting the unit play and charge through the radio [ Omar  Aug 16, 2017 ]
    L-com has the adapter [ Ellis  Aug 16, 2017 ]
you can purchase a usb connector adapter and replace the cigarette lighter. the adapter then goes to the usb on the back of the unit. that way you can connect your phone without opening the glove compartment [ Ellis  Aug 16, 2017 ]
It goes away on its own after about 5 seconds. [ rory  Aug 13, 2017 ]
Mine goes away after about 10 seconds [ Benjamin  Aug 13, 2017 ]
It goes away after about 5 seconds or so. [ Scott  Aug 12, 2017 ]
If you want a full removable face on a DD unit, the only Pioneer that will do this is a 4201/4200nex. The 3300nex has a small detachable face were the 2300nex is motorized but the face is not removable. Again only the 4200/4201nex will fully be detachable [ 12vtech  Oct 03, 2017 ]
There is a small piece on the front that you can remove which disables the unit from use until it is re installed. That is the closest thing it has for the deterrent. [ Christopher  Sep 08, 2017 ]
No. The face is motorized. The whole thing folds out when loading a disk. [ Seth  Aug 16, 2017 ]
    No it's not [ DEWAYNE  Aug 08, 2017 ]
No, a camera is not included. The AVH-2330NEX does have a video input for a backup camera, and will display an image when the vehicle is in reverse when wired properly. Pioneer makes their own camera, (not included), but any camera that uses a standard video cable with a male RCA plug should work. I installed a camera from Esky that works as intended. [ Mitch  Aug 07, 2017 ]
No but it has capability to accommodate one(optional) [ Craig  Aug 07, 2017 ]
It does not come with a back up camera, but it does have an input to connect one. [ Christopher M.  Aug 07, 2017 ]
No, you must purchase one separately. But you can use a backup camera with this unit. [ Charlie  Aug 07, 2017 ]
It has a connection for one but no camera comes in the box. [ Alex  Aug 06, 2017 ]
