More users are enjoying the utility of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ every day. Now Pioneer's taken the convenience of these cool applications and made them wireless. No plugging in your phone — you're connected as soon as you start the car. CarPlay and Android Auto integrate your phone into your driving experience in a non-distracting way. You'll have voice control access to maps, weather, music, your phone, text messages, and easy access to many of your favorite apps — all without taking your eyes off the road.
Customize the touchscreen by moving icons around to create shortcuts to your favorite sources and apps. And you've got a choice of colors and backgrounds that'll let you tailor the look to match your vehicle. Video content plays in bright, clear detail when you're parked, and when you're on the road, you can entertain your passengers by sending a movie from the receiver to a rear-seat screen. And of course you can plug in a rear-view camera (and a second camera) to play it safe in crowded parking lots.
Pioneer's AppRadio mode and AppRadioLIVE offer some other cool features. Launch and control compatible iPhone apps from the face of your receiver with AppRadio mode. And for more functionality, download the free AppRadioLIVE app to your phone and you can sync many popular apps and services into a single, easy-to-use interface, giving you easy control over maps, media, news, and calendars.
This Pioneer offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included). In a wide selection of vehicles, this module lets you keep factory features that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. You'll also be able to check out engine performance data and other vehicle info on the Pioneer's screen. Once you've identified your vehicle, you'll see the iDatalink module offered on the way to the Shopping Cart if it's compatible.
Crave the best sound quality? You'll be stoked that the AVH-W4400NEX supports FLAC file playback, for compression-free CD-quality sound when you're cruising down the highway. It will even play high-resolution FLAC files, if you have a speaker system that will do them justice. And don't forget, you can also enjoy all your CDs, DVDs, discs full of MP3 or WMA music, SD cards, or USB storage devices loaded with files.
You can connect your iPod® or iPhone to one the receiver's two rear USB inputs and use the receiver's controls to access your playlists, with tools like Alphabet Search and Link Search to help you zero in on the song you want. Android users — you'll be able to browse and play back the music that's stored on many Android phones.
The built-in HD Radio tuner delivers crystal-clear FM and AM reception from participating stations. If you're a fan of streaming Internet radio, you can take charge of your Pandora® account from the touchscreen, complete with thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls. For an outstanding variety of music, news, sports, and talk programming, you can also connect an optional SiriusXM satellite radio tuner. This NEX receiver will even display album art from the satellite feed.
You can make the most of your music with this Pioneer's 13-band EQ. Just swipe your finger on the touchscreen to dial in the curve that brings out tones you're looking for. And you'll find digital time alignment, Auto-EQ, and other powerful tools for compensating for your vehicle's acoustics.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
Smartphone note: If you're going to use your smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.
If you currently use AppRadio Mode, Pioneer has found that it won't work with iOS 11. They're working on an update, so you may want to keep iOS 10 until that fix is available.
I love it! The sound is amazing. The Wireless CarPlay is awesome.

I love it! The sound is amazing. The Wireless CarPlay is awesome.
Wireless! CarPlay! Happy camper! One fantastic radio by Pioneer! I've been doing about as much research as any living human could for a new radio with Apple CarPlay. Crutchfield, big box stores, and countless Google searches... and then, "best CarPlay radio review" and BAM! The number one choice... the 4400! Sold! Done! Stick a fork in me and turn me over! I actually went with a "scratch and dent" model from Crutchfield (saved $150) and I can not see a single blemish that made it so. Happy I saved the money and went with this version of the 4400! A solid FIVE stars all the way!
Pros: Wireless. AppleCarPlay. Sounds so much better than my factory (way louder too). Ability to adjust sound location based upon driver is great. Along with the zones/ speaker locations with a simple red dot and ability to move it!
Cons: Screen resolution could be better. Ability to dim the screen for night driving could be adjusted to go darker than I can get mine to go.
This is a great radio. Backup camera shows up clear on it. Touch controls aren't slow or anything like that. Carplay and Android Auto work really well with this unit.
This radio was a huge step up from the initial Sony radio I had received The fit in the dash all the functions WiFi for Apple Car Play make it seamless and a joy to have. I love it.
Pros: All positive
Cons: None so far
Lots of clean power coming from this deck. Wireless Apple CarPlay is great. This unit is worth the extra money over the 1440NEX if you can afford it.
Pros: Plenty of power Wireless CarPlay works well Detachable Face Great sound WiFi
Cons: Resistive Touchscreen. Should be capacitive for this price. Apple products have to plugged in to mirror.
Best receiver ever! Love the wireless connection between the iphone and the stereo. It connects almost instantly when turning the unit on. Love all the extra features on it! I would buy it all over again.
Pros: Love the wireless connectivity. Essy to set up.
Cons: The video and screen mirroring won't work with iphones; only android phones and tablets
Nice unit and works as advertised. I like the wireless carplay and also it worked great with my rearview camera. The interface is not bad but using Carplay apps (like Waze) and radio at the same time is a bit goofy (but it does work)
Pros: Carplay works great
Cons: Waze does not show car speed.
The AVH-W4400NEX has a ton of features, when compared to my previous CarPlay head unit. You get HD radio, bluetooth, DVD/CD, SDcard, AUX in, Display out, etc AND wireless CarPlay/Android Auto (with updated OS). This is a robust head unit, and all I really needed was wireless CarPlay. Install was straight forward with my old harnesses, but I did have to use process of elimination in identifying reverse trigger for backup cam as colors did not match. Also, when installing in my 2011 Silverado, I had to use my dremel and remove some of the plastic housing in the dash's inner cavity to get this beast to fit. So, despite this radio being labeled as compatible with the 2011 Silverado be prepared to do some minor modding to the internal housing. I also noticed the screen had difficulty properly opening and closing due to the proximity of the trim piece, so I had to make some positional adjustments. Once everything was good to go I got to actually play with this thing. I love the customization of themes and button colors. I'm working on trying to match the head units buttons with the stock green/teal of the truck's dash. Also, you can change the startup splash screen with custom jpegs, which will eventually be the Chevy logo. I would like dedicated skip/back buttons, like I do with volume. And no, the screen does not superimpose guidelines when backing up, but is it really worth knocking multiple stars for that? Let's stop over-reacting.
Pros: Features, features, features! Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto is amazing, customization is a nice touch
Cons: Pioneer's directions were a little lacking, no physical skip and back buttons, increased phone data now that CarPlay starts up automatically /s.
The radio is awesome! All of the functions worked perfectly.
Great radio that works well. Integrated perfectly with my car, and have had no issues.
I've had this installed now for two weeks and still love it! The interface was easy to figure out and the wireless CarPlay is awesome. So glad I got this over the lesser unit that has wired CarPlay only. If you're considering this unit, just pull the trigger and get it!
Pros: Easy to operate Wireless CarPlay Customizable colors for buttons and screen
Cons: Instructions received weren't totally clear (but sorted out with a quick call to Crutchfield)
I absolutely love this unit, the wireless carplay is an excellent feature and will be mandatory in any future units I purchase. The menus were intuitive and very responsive. The screen was hard to see in direct sunlight but that is asking for for a lot with the tilt angle in a 2008 Prius. In my Gen II Prius I had to use a Axxess aswc-1 for Steering wheel controls the Radio Pro 4 would not communicate with the Pioneer head unit. All the steering wheel buttons worked when programmed manually except Map. Yes even the Speak button worked for Siri.
Great unit. User friendly. Love the Apple CarPlay. Very poor installation instructions.
Great stereo. Everything works as expected. Can't wait for wireless AA with 9.0 Pie expected in January.
Great radio with all the features you could want.
Do not buy this if what you want is a display for a backup camera. Despite supporting the feature in older units, Pioneer inexplicably removed the backup camera parking assist lines, which overlay the camera view and show you where you're supposed to aim to line up with the curb. It's the simplest, most useful feature, and also trivially easy for them to implement in software, and they laid an egg and took it out of their new products. Just unbelievable. Given that it takes many, many hours to install these, not finding out about this until it's in the car makes pulling it out and asking for a refund impractical. Pioneer really deserves minus 5 stars for this blunder. So disappointed.
Pros: Impress your friends that you have hundreds of $ to blow on a bad camera monitor
Cons: No backup camera lines!
Sound it is excellent, I love the iPhone mirroring and all the features. Cons. All the money spent and you don't get a cage with this unit for easy removal ? every time you want to make a change / add or replace a cable the radio with the dash kit needs to be ripped out of the dash
Pros: Sound it is amazing very happy with my choice, I love the iPhone mirroring and all the features.
Cons: All the money spent and you don't get a cage with this unit for easy removal ? every time you want to make a change / add or replace a cable the radio with the dash kit needs to be ripped out of the dash
works awesome. they had everything already connected, just had to snap couple plugs together and ws ready to go. only thing is the android auto wireless doesn't work yet but hoping does with new android upgrade in couple months
Good unit and nice sound. Installation instructions are not clear, which cost a fair amount of time in figuring out some parts of the installation. But I'm enjoying wireless CarPlay. I've noticed that the coloring and contrast for Apple Maps and Google Maps are washed out, not nearly as crisp and clear as on the phone.
Pros: Better sound than head unit it replaced. Wireless CarPlay.
Cons: Unclear installation instructions from Pioneer. Maps and Google Maps are washed out.
Awesome radio! The apple car play works perfect. I was a little nervous about getting the resistive touch screen, but you can not even tel a difference!
Installed in a 2007 Toyota Prius that had the amplified factory JBL system. The Pioneer unit effortlessly and wirelessly connects to my iPhone and implements Apple Car Play. It is so easy to set up. Steering wheel controls work including voice button for hailing Siri which is great for hands-free. Voice quality with the included microphone is very good. Set the volume up on your factory radio to about 2/3's of max before removing it. That will wind up your amplifier (which is under the passenger seat,) power. No need to touch the amplifier. I don't recommend using this radio with the PAC RP4.2 adaptor. Audio dropped in and out with that kit. The two Axxess adaptors seem to work well. I also recommend Crutchfield's Ready Harness service. Makes installation much easier. Fidelity using optional SiriusXM tuner seems better than the factory radio in my other car. Crutchfield's customer service and technical support were outstanding.
Pros: Wireless connectivity and more features than you could possibly use.
Cons: You'll have to search for a couple color-coded wires and then tap into them with PosiTap connectors. Additionally, you will need to solder a resistor between two other wires to keep the steering wheel A/C controls working. You will likely want to drill two holes. One to route the microphone lead and the other for the GPS antenna.
I was very concerned since this unit seems to have all kinds of bells and whistles. I thought maybe it would be difficult to setup and operate. So far I'm very happy to report, it have a user friendly intuitive operation. I even did the install myself. Even with a billion connections and options to hook-up, I managed to get it all working. One note for Subaru owners with Starlink. You'll need to keep your Starlink unit hooked up. The front speakers go through this unit. if you bypass them, you'll loose you backup warning system.
Pros: Wireless car play Intuitive user friendly operation
Cons: User manual was not very helpful for some items. Had to figure out what to do by trial and error.
Great unit does everything I expected and more.
This is a really nice unit. Replaced my factory BOSE/NAV system in my Nissan Rogue and its a world of difference (in literally every aspect). The boot up time is fast, its intuitive, sound quality is great, WIRELESS CARPLAY IS AWESOME! and everything else works as designed. I like being able to personalize home screens. The only issues that i had with the install actually had nothing to do with the radio (ASWC-1 and integrating my factory backup camera which ended up being a voltage step down control issue). Navigation on car play is spot in with the included VSS and GPS antenna. In fact, all you need as a NAV module and this unit gains full navigation capabilities. We will see how it withstands the test of time but works great thus far!
Pros: Wireless carplay, nav ready, lots of add on functions.
Cons: None so far. I shouldn't be saying this but you can't override in motion feature on this radio to allow video play back for passengers while driving unless you are using a rear monitor. The unit using the parking brake to enable features but also the GPS ans VSS signals. Out of luck there.
Head unit sounds great and many features that are useful (and many may never be used). The sound has been enhanced 100% and CarPlay feature is the best. Customizations are endless and I was able to choose a color that matched my car's interior lighting.
Pros: CarPlay, Great sound, Easy to install, Customize to your heart's content
Cons: Many, many features that will never be used or accessed
its great for everything that I needed in a radio. thank you for all the help
This unit is great. It's easy to figure how to use (and I'm 70 years old). But best of all every app works wirelessly or wired - even Apple Car Play. Maps are easier to use on the big screen. It reads text messages and translates my voice to text, and will send with voice commands. I love it. Will be installing one in wife's car too.
Pros: VERY user friendly
Cons: A little pricey
I have been enjoying the pioneer AVH-w4400-NEX for about 2 weeks now. Its Menu format is quick to learn and so far no glitches. Must admit though that I straight wired everything and have isolated it from the car functions totally. Even to the extent of using an auxiliary switch for the turn on lead and a chip mod for the brake lead. This allows me uninterrupted function Truck on, driving, or off. With the 10 farad stinger capacitor I have on the power side of things I do not experience the first flicker or issues with power even when turning on the 6.7 diesel Cummins motor. I am only using the RCA outs sending them to an Arc Signature Edition 2300 for Subs and an Arc Signature Edition 4200 for mids. Mids are AP Design 4200 series 6 1/2 Components for Front and Rear with 2 - 10" Sundown E Series Woofers. The set up will run me out of my Ram 3500 Crew Cab well before it shows any signs of clipping or distortion. Definitely very pleased with all of the input options this unit allows as well. I have over 20 gig of music on a thumb drive in USB1 with the Android cell with Spotify, Audible in USB2. I have used CD and DVD as well. Have not hooked up the Android with HDMI yet as I have not picked up the HDMI to USB-C adaptor but cant wait to stream video. Definitely, No bored moments in the Ram now! I must note and strongly suggest starting out with proper soundproofing. I used stinger Expert mat throughout, adding Dynaliner in the Doors. Strongly recommend this Unit!
Pros: Function simplicity, input options, sound quality and DSP functions, and clear image and Screen icon placement options
Cons: closest thing to a con is the Software to link the phone via Bluetooth or USB does take a minute to get used to.
Lots of great features and a great rebate to boot,
Pros: Wireless Android audio Messaging
Receiver is much more responsive than 2017 8.4 UConnect with Alpine amplifier. The receiver also adds more truck information than original model. The add-on microphone is the only aftermarket component that is not as nice as the original.
Pros: Keeps original functionality plus adds more truck information
Cons: Does not use integrated microphone
I love it! The ready harness makes it much easier to install. One thing to note. If you use Maestro RR with this HU, the Maestro must be configured first!!!! It will not power the HU unless you do this! Other than that, the install was a bit time consuming but a fun experience.
Pros: Amazing system to have. Lots of configuration options
Great radio, only thing I don't like is the background changes and I can't be in park to eject a CD (based on the low mount).
Pros: Wireless Car Play
Tons of issues with iDatalink, and the wireless Android Auto doesn't work well at all. Ended up returning this within a couple days of purchase as it wasn't work the money for all of the problems I had.
Pros: Features, features and more features.
Cons: None of the features work well.
Warning: This receiver and all others with android auto "wireless support" most likely will not work with your phone. Currently Android Auto wireless only works with the Google Pixel and LG Nexus phones. All other phones will NOT connect to this receiver. I found this out the hard way after paying extra for this receiver to have wireless support for my Samsung S8. Crutchfield needs to put this disclaimer on ALL receivers that supposedly support AA wirelessly. I paid extra for this unit because it is one of the only ones that offers wireless connection to both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. When you pay extra for an advertised feature, you expect it to work. Apple CarPlay works great - First try. Android Auto simply does not work at all via wireless connection. If you have an Android phone other than the Pixel or Nexus, you're stuck with a wired connection. Android Auto (wired) is also buggy... If you lose your connection during a drive, you're done. The unit will NOT reconnect to your phone. The only workaround I've found for this problem is to stop the car, completely shut everything down restart everything. That said, the unit sounds 100% better than my factory unit WITH the factory speakers! It really is a very nice upgrade to the sound quality - well done in that department. Phone connectivity via BT is seamless and stable.
Pros: Sounds quality is excellent with seamless bluetooth connectivity Apple CarPlay works well, both wireless and wired Blue Tooth connectivity is solid - works well Detachable face gives peace of mind regarding theft deterrent.
Cons: Android Auto wireless doesn't work with the most popular phones at all. Backup camera function is impaired when using Android Auto - It doesn't always let you see the camera - Another AA bug maybe? Android Auto connectivity is very fragile - if you lose connectivity during driving it will not reconnect. Google assistant often gets stuck on the screen and you have to reboot to fix it - Another AA bug! Functionality of the remote is very limited for podcasts. FF and
This radio is a must have!
Pros: Excellent radio
Very good unit. I had waited for wireless CarPlay to become available in an aftermarket unit at a good price. The unit itself does everything as advertised. My only complaint is I wish I could keep the screen angled even when it turns off (when the unit is off the screen collapses back to default state)
Love this receiver, install was really easy only took about 2 hours with soldering. The fit is perfect for my car and wireless android auto and carplay work flawlessly.
Excellent products I would recommend it . And customer service is perfect very knowledgeable experienced and pleasant to talk .
Tons of function with wireless CarPlay and android auto. When my wife's factory stereo in her Corolla died, I wanted something that was easy to use and helped her keep her eyes on the road. My wife enjoys being able to respond to messages and make calls without having to fumble for her phone at stops. Picture quality is decent, even in direct sunlight. The touch screen is acurate. I like that she can remove the screen and tuck it safely away when parking in less secure areas. The unit has all the function we needed and then some.
Pros: -Still has CD drive. -Image quality is ok. -Boot time is pretty fast. -Adjust volume of navigation vs music! -Removable faceplate. -HD radio built in. -Wireless carplay/ android auto*
Cons: *Wireless android auto not available on all phones. My Galaxy S8 must connect via usb. -Not HD display -Tilt only tilts back (only an issue in some cars or for short people)
Very nice radio, a lot of nice features. I installed this in a 2012 camaro with the PAC audio kit and while the screen fits, you cannot use the motorized screen. You can customize a lot of things like theme, illumination color, splash screen and background to name a few. If you plan on installing a radio in the camaro, you might want to look into another radio however because of the screen size but also because it's so extremely tight in the dash. But seems to be a good radio otherwise.
Pros: Big screen, wireless CarPlay, customization
Cons: Not the greatest fit for a 5th gen camaro.
This is a great head unit! I had originally bought the JVC KW M740BT and was pretty disatisfied with it. Problems with bluetooth, wired Android Auto. I was a little uneasy about wireless AA after having issues with the wired version, but so far it's performed great! I've had a couple times the unit has gotten hung up when I didn't give it quite enough boot up time and would go to make a call with Google and the wavey multi colored dots would get stuck on the screen so I would have to reboot the unit. No big deal, just need to not get in a hurry. AA stopped once the other day while using maps to navigate, but reconnected and quickly got me back on course. Again, no bigee at all. I really do like this unit. Very reliable, and lots of nice features! Big improvement over the OEM head unit! Sound quality is far better even with the stock cheapie speakers on my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Limited. Would HIGHLY recommend! OH, I would definitely be remiss if I didn't say that the folks at Crutchfield are TOP NOTCH! Everyone I have dealt with there has been helpful beyond expectations! Final note (really, this will be it), I've seen some reviews mentioning problems with the install, spend the few extra bucks for the ready harness, then plan on calling to get some help from Crutchfield, they're on the line fast and unbelievably helpful. Don't bang your head against the wall. Just call 'em!
Pros: Great sound, lots of features, reliable bluetooth/android auto connection, awesome customer service!
Cons: Not really any cons. I don't have any issue with having to wait a few seconds for boot up (seriously.... if I'm in THAT big of a hurry I've got bigger problems).
The radio seems good, or at least for what I could see of it. When you add the radio Crutchfield says "hey here's all the stuff you'll need," which in the case of my WRX STI was: Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module iDatalink HRN-RR-SU2 Interface Harness and a Dash kit (I chose Scosche) They also send you a "master" sheet, which seems to stretch the meaning of the word master. It tells you next to nothing about your car install, and only shows you how to get the factory radio out, which is pretty easy to Google. What isn't easy to Google is that what Crutchfield recommended above is not all that is required. I soldered the two harnesses together which was easy, and tore up the dash which was a pain (Subaru's fault). After getting everything wired up, before trying to install it, I fired it up. No front audio. After some Googling it looks like you need to Telematics unit to keep the front speakers working, or you only get rear speakers. The box is big and I have no idea how I'm expected to get this to fit. It alternatively looks like you can jump the wires, but that information was not easily available, and certainly not provided in any installation instructs by Pioneer/iDatalink or Crutchfield. Additionally, my rear camera wasn't working. I didn't get as far as getting to run or even test the microphone because I was several hours deep at this point and need to work in the morning. I ended up ha

Unit intermittently fails to connect (wired) to my Android S7, as well as my wife's Iphone. Never has worked wirelessly. Now, it won't connect to my S7 at all using android auto, and intermittently just loses the usb connection on the Iphone. It sometimes tries to connect wifi, and then asks for a wifi password. I have no idea what the password for the unit's wifi is,and Pioneer couldn't help. I'm attempting to return the unit.
Cons: Frustrating wired connection, and no wireless at all.
Doesn't fit in a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe even with the modifications recommended.

Cons: Doesn't fit.Crutchfield response on 10/29/2018 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to Tyler to help him further. We'll help him solve the problem and get the receiver installed and working. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Impressive performance, and large feature list. Wireless CarPlay is very convienient, and makes my 1993 Corvette feel like a newer car. Worst part of the install was having to take stuff apart to route the harness...the car originally had a Delco-Bose system, and the harness Crutchfield provided with the stereo allowed the installation of the stereo, while retaining the original Bose amp/speakers.
Pros: Wireless CarPlay, exceptional sound, more sound adjustments than you can imagine.
Cons: Had to trim about 1/8 at the bottom of my dash plate (1993 Corvette) to allow the faceplate to move properly Faceplate moves FAR when inserting a CD, or removing the faceplate. Make sure you have room. Can't be done in my Corvette If gear selector is in Park, but it's fine everywhere else.
I bought this specifically for the wireless interface. I know the WiFi connection works as I can do screen mirroring with it. Unfortunately, screen mirroring is disconnected as soon as you start driving. I've tried with my tablet and cell phone to make the wireless link and after many tries, I always get, "Connection Failed" from either Android 7 device. The link using the USB port works sometimes and not other times. I cannot keep pulling over and stopping to restart that connection. I had no such problem with my 4100NEX. It always worked smoothly and consistently. Summary, the mirrorlink just does not work for either my Android 7 cell phone or tablet. This is what I require for driving long distances. So now, the NEX is only useful for radio when I am parked.

Checked every box I was looking for. Dual zone/multimedia/2 USB ports + SD card/ hdmi input/ IR remote included/ OEM XM retention/ wireless CarPlay. The alpine with wireless CarPlay, around the same price point, lacks multimedia capabilities, usb is just for charging or CarPlay/Android, close competitor but not nearly as feature rich as this pioneer. UI and screen are smooth and responsive. Sound is great. I installed this in a 2012 GMC Acadia Denali with Bose. Crutchfield has this unit listed as will not fit/work due to the tilting face. Zero issues with the install or the tilting face using Crutchfields recommended package and the idatalink. The USB 3 cables stuck out a bit too far in the back, 90 degrees angle adapters solved that issue. Has played every video file format I've thrown at it flawlessly, not sure max USB size, been using a usb3 128GB. Very happy! Wireless CarPlay is a home run, zero connection issues thus far (iPhone X), boots quickly, also switches from AirPods immediately after startup and vice versa when shut down. Installed microphone on the lower side of center console so I didn't have to remove pillar cover, picks up voice perfectly and I'm the only one who can see it. Buy with the confidence you're getting about every feature you could want. Nice job Pioneer.
Pros: Countless features, tremendous value at this price pint, fairly certain I wouldn't be any more satisfied with any of the more expensive units.
Cons: Wasn't free, but worth every penny.
I initially bought the alpine ilx-107 before this unit became capable of wireless carplay but then it was stolen and i purchased this as a replacement. I couldnt be happier with the deck. I have it running a five channel amp and it does a great job. The included features far exceed the 107 and the overall performance is just as good in every other aspect. I think that it is also faster in locking onto my phone and having wireless carplay availible when first getting into the car than the 107. Overall its a great deck!
Pros: Feature packed
Cons: Touch screen isnt the absolute best
Bought for my son and he loves it, looks great and sounds even better! What a great radio!
Pros: Easy to install, especially with the pre assembled harnessing!
Pioneer has improved the user interface from their older CarPlay decks. It goes into CarPlay mode by default when an iPhone is connected (and if it doesn't, it's one tap to get there). The process used to be a lot less obvious. The resistive touch screen works well and glare isn't much of a problem once you get the angle right, although fingerprints show up clearly. Wireless CarPlay works well, although note that the phone won't automatically connect if it's already connected to another WiFi network. The only major problem is that the USB ports don't provide enough power to actually charge an iPhone. On long drives it'll probably be necessary to plug the phone into a better power source and use the wireless support. The volume control could be better executed. I'd give up a bit of screen size to have a knob instead of tiny buttons. And it would be nice to have a physical pause button. The display tilts out to allow the face plate to be detached. This is a little time consuming but it means that you can detach the face plate even when the stereo is deeply recessed into an angled dashboard.
Pros: CarPlay works well. Easier to use than older Pioneer CarPlay decks.
Cons: I miss my volume knob. Doesn't provide enough power to charge a phone.
So far this head unit is okay. Either Apple Car Play is buggy or the head unit is at times. Wireless Apple Car Play is nice but a little confusing to figure out. For example, Pandora and Maps will not work simultaneously. Still haven't set up the reverse camera and steering wheel controls. However, the head unit is a huge upgrade from my factory unit.
Pros: Wireless car play. Fair pricing.
Cons: Buggy at times..especially with Pandorad
Everything thing works and sounds perfect. Wireless Carplay was the reason for this purchase and it certainly delivers.
Pros: Every feature you could want Wireless Carplay Numerous sound and speaker settings
This is beyond worth it! I could not go back to wired CarPlay. If your on the fence just get it...you will not regret it.
Pros: The GUI is much smother than the last gen of NEX decks. CarPlay works very good.
Cons: Kinda pricey. Wish it had a capacitive touch screen.
Great Stereo! It sounds great and is very responsive. I love how they improved the EQ. It doesn't take nearly as long for the sound to reflect whatever changes I make. My last two Pioneer decks would cut out the sound for about a second with each adjustment I made. It was very annoying. Pioneer has definitely fixed that problem with the AVH-W4400NEX. I didn't really care about the Android integration, until I used it. It is awesome! I can listen to the music on my usb drive, or on a cd/dvd, and still be able to hear the GPS navigation. Previously, I had to pair my phone with the deck, then had to be on the Bluetooth source to hear the directions. I couldn't listen to any other source. The only things that I've found that I don't like, but they aren't deal breakers for me, are that I can't seem to get the unit to connect to my Android phone via wifi, so I have to plug it into the USB port to use the Android features, and I miss having the skip forward and reverse buttons on the front of the deck. Now, you have to push a specific button on the front, then a little window pops up with the forward and back controls. I use my steering wheel controls, so it's not that big of a deal, but I still miss the buttons on the unit. Also, the little window that pops up with the controls on it isn't very fancy. It doesn't really fit with the looks of everything else on the unit. On that note, the display looks great. I am very happy with this unit.
Pros: Very responsive to commands. EQ is very responsive. Sounds great. Looks great. Android/iPhone integration. 2 USB ports (one for iPhone and one for Android, but either one will play music from a USB drive).
Cons: Can't get the deck to connect to my phone via wifi. I have to plug it in via USB each time I use it. If you don't have steering wheel controls, you have to do an extra step to get to the forward and back controls. When playing music via USB, and you have several different artists/albums on the drive, the deck alphabetizes every song on the drive and plays them in that order. I would prefer it to default to artist and to play the songs in order according to each album, like most other decks.
Awesome head unit! Get the harness pre wired, it saves a lot of time!
Installed in 2012 Honda Crosstour. I used the Advanced ReadyHarness Service and only had to find 3 wires. The steering wheel control said to tap in to number 3 and with help from Oakley at Crutchfield it turned out to be number 13. We also had to program the dip switches; Oakley was very helpful and patient. The wireless carplay is why I bought this unit. It works as expected and my wife loves it. It beats Honda Handsfreelink hands down. I have done multiple stereo replacements in family vehicles, but at 64 the ReadyHarness Service made it much easier.
Pros: Wireless carplay, great looks, lots of adjustments
Cons: Installer ineptness
Everything works perfectly with the head unit. FYI to anyone who has a USB OEM port (mine is a 2014 Camry XLE). More then likely you will need to get a separate harness to connect it to one of the two USB ports on the Pioneer stereo. This adapter does NOT come in the package or added harnesses provided by Crutchfield. You can easily find them online. Still perfect score since it arrived on time and does everything I want it to do.
Fits perfect in a 2016 Kia Soul EV (electric). Sometimes the wireless android auto is a little finicky with my Pixel XL running Android P.
Pros: -Android Auto -HD Radio -Makes stock speakers sound great
Cons: Wireless Android Auto a little finicky. Seems worse with the Android P update.
Great head unit. The wireless carplay is seamless. Really happy so far.
This is a great radio. I love the wireless CarPlay it was also very easy to set up. Crutchfield said that it wouldn't fit my 2003 tundra, I checked the dimensions, watched the unboxing YouTube video from 5star car audio. And I had no issues installing this radio.
Absolutely love the pioneer avh lineup of these double din stereos, this one is the best yet. Wireless carplay is a DREAM. I would recommend this stereo to any friend, it has loads of features and a sleek, fast UI.
I love this unit! although, I wish it stated that which Android devices are currently supported for wireless Android connect and not just say Android compatible. but overall, no other complaints.
Exceeded the expectation of its features. Well worth the price!
Pros: Exceeded the expectation of its features. Well worth the price!
Pioneer has knocked it out of the park with this unit. Bought a new car and thought it'd be a good time to upgrade my AppRadio 4. Totally worth it. I was a bit nervous about changing over to a resistive panel, but this screen is extremely responsive. The panel in this has a wider color gamut than my previous headunit, too, so it makes watching videos during my long day as a homecare nurse even better. Wireless CarPlay is a godsend. HD Radio is amazing. This thing has any feature you could ask for. The value for the money, especially with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is excellent. As a techie, this unit is fairly futureproof, too, so you can feel good about your investment. You can't go wrong with this unit.
Great radio awesome features
Works very well. I can easily take it out and take it with me. It also has a very smooth screen that makes it look like it would be in a luxury car. I love my new pioneer double din dash. An all around great system plus the wireless apple car play is great. No cords and an easy connecting system.
Great unit with a lot of features
I purchased this item to replace the Kenwood DDX9903S HU I had for 2 years in my 2014 Toyota Tundra. I liked the Kenwood, but I hated that I had to touch the screen on EVERY startup to cancel a "don't look at the screen while driving" warning. The AVH-W4400NEX has the same warning, but it disappears after about 10 seconds. It was worth the money to me to get rid of that screen on the Kenwood. The AVH-W4400NEX also has auto EQ and TA, that I haven't setup yet, but hopefully it will work to my expectations. The AVH-W4400NEX also has WIRELESS Carplay, with the Kenwood, I had to plug the phone in to make Carplay work..I removed and reflashed my Maestro RR, reset some of my steering wheel buttons, and everything works great. I've been buying Pioneer products since my first TP-900 under dash 8-track in 1978.I should have bought the Pioneer in the first place, but local shop recommended the Kenwood. The Pioneer makes better use of the screen. Since I use navigation on my iPhone, there was no need to spend more on a HU with navigation. This unit has everything I need.
Pros: Wireless Carplay, Auto EQ and TA, self canceling warning screen on start up.
Don't buy this unit for a convertible. It does have unbelievable features but if water gets on the face-its doomed. I'm replacing mine now with an Alpine that was build to survive a rain event.
Great features, great response and fast syncing of my iPhone through Carplay. Front camera option is nice, especially for lowered vehicles so you don't damage the bumper. Plus I can get closer without sticking out too far.
I recently purchased this from Crutchfield. I had the AVH-4200NEX previously. I didnt think that it could be beat, but I believe this one slightly does. The biggest reason I upgraded was because of the wireless option for Apple CarPlay. It works great, starts up very fast unlike bluetooth connection that seems to take more than 30-40 seconds. This takes I would say about 3-5 seconds. I did however have a few issues connecting wirelessly only when I remote start and am not near the car with my phone. I have to manually press the CarPlay icon. No big deal just thought might mention. The 4200 was one of the best decks and highest reviewed at its time, the AVH-W4400 just adds to these great features. IMO, this deck is very tough to beat and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new stereo.
Pros: Wireless CarPlay, works near flawless Can add on other accessories Good screen resolution Very easy interface
Cons: Higher priced
I loved it. Perfect fit for my 2016 toyota highlander
Works great! Easy installation
The Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX is a perfect fit for my Mustang! CarPlay added so many awesome iPhone features and controls. The install process was less than favorable, as the Advanced ReadyHarness Service wasn't as ready as one would expect and led to removing the newly installed unit and re-installing the OEM unit, very time consuming! Clint at techsupport@Crutchfield was very helpful with explaining how to finish the not so ReadyHarness so it would work. The Antenna Adapter wasn't shipped with the order but was shipped days later, putting off the install process. The Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module brought back almost all the controls from the steering wheel and climate control system and the Connec KIT-MUS1 was an exact match to the OEM dash panel. After many hours of install and reinstalling the final product was well worth the extra effort! The sound quality and control is so much better than the original system! The products I'd rate as a 5 Star product, the lack of step-by-step install instructions I'd say about a 3 Star. Tech support was a 5 star, for as expensive of a product, you do get your monies worth from tech support!
Pros: Great sound and CarPlay features
Cons: Installation instructions lacking, Advanced ReadyHarness Service not worth it.
Great receiver, easy to install following the instructions provided and the prewired kit from Crutchfield. Apple car play works great.
Es un radio muy bueno mi esposo está feliz con el radio y pienso que el futuro me voy a comprar otro buena calidad fácil de navegar es un pioneerEso lo dice todo
working great for wireless Airplay. external GPS antenna with data sent to phone to assist with location
No issues installing in my 2009 GMC Sierra. Still learning what everything does, but so far pleased with this head unit. Sounds a lot better than the one it's replacing, and Android auto is pretty neat. Can't wait for my phone to support wireless AA. Lots of features, but the screen is a little hard to see in bright sunlight.
Pros: Android auto Sound quality Lots of features
Cons: Screen a little hard to see in bright sunlight
Amazing amount of features. Android Auto and CarPlay!? Best of both worlds. With Crutchfield's simple instructions and guide to everything you need to install it yourself, it was a wondering DIY weekend project. Installed in a 2009 Subaru Legacy. Made my car 10 years newer! One thing that will help with the Android fans out there. The USB2 port is the only port that works for setting up your Android device. USB1 is reserved for iPhone's setup.
Pros: Android Auto and Carplay
Cons: Pioneer's built in menus are a little out-dated and clunky but when you're basically using it for AndroidAuto or Carplay that doesn't really matter.

- If you are using a hardwired connection, make sure to plug your phone into the USB-1 port.
- Use the included USB extension cable and an "Apple Certified" Lightning-to-USB extension cable (not included) for connection. Any other USB extension cable or non-certified cable can cause CarPlay to malfunction.

More Android smartphones will be made Wireless Android Auto compatible through Android's newest OS 9.0 Pie update (no ETA). This allows you to view practically any content that is playing on your compatible Android device on the receiver's touchscreen (vehicle's parking brake must be engaged). Control will still be done from your Android device's touchscreen (not the Pioneer receiver). Click here to check for Miracast compatible Android smartphones and tablets.

AV Output (w/ Dual Zone): The unit features a composite video jack and 3.5mm audio jack to output AV signals to an optional monitor and headphone system. You can simultaneously enjoy the same or different sources in the front and rear of your vehicle. The unit's dual zone AV output can be set to Mirror, Disc, AV-In, USB-1, SD, or Off. The Mirror mode simply outputs the same audio/video signal (not including USB-2, HDMI, Miracast, AppRadio, CarPlay, or Android Auto) which is playing on the head unit's touchscreen monitor to your connected rear monitor/headphone system.
Note: USB and SD cannot be selected for playback in the rear of the vehicle when CarPlay or Android Auto is active.
Camera Input: The AVH-W4400NEX is equipped with a composite video rear-view camera input for the addition of an optional backup camera (130NDBC8, sold separately). The receiver's composite AV input can also be configured to add a second camera, such as a front dash cam (sold separately). The dedicated rear-view camera input offers two view modes -
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.
Navigation Ready: The Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX allows you to connect the Pioneer AVIC-U280 add-on navigation unit (130AVIC280, sold separately) through its RGB Input. This versatile hideaway unit allows you to switch to navigation mode with the touch of a button. Get to your destination by inputting an address or search through the POI library while enjoying whatever source is currently playing.
iDatalink Serial Port: This Pioneer DVD receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket Pioneer receiver to work with select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system, select GM vehicles with factory OnStar, select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, plus select Honda/Acura, Toyota/Scion, Volkswagen & Subaru vehicles with factory digital amplifiers.
Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestro RR interface module with the correct firmware from iDatalink's website. In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a vehicle specific harness (sold separately). The Pioneer receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.
Motorized 6.94" Clear Resistive LCD Touchscreen: The Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX features a 6.94" clear resistive LCD touchscreen with a display resolution of 2520 x 480, for a total of 1,209,600 pixels. The clear resistive panel is designed to enhance the visibility of on-screen graphics and images, making them appear clear and crisp. The LCD touchscreen allows you to control this unit and a connected component - such as an iPhone, Android smartphone, a USB MSC device, or Bluetooth source. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. The unit's 6.94" touchscreen display is motorized and electronically slides down to load/eject your DVD/CD discs. The angle of the motorized touchscreen display can also be adjusted to five different positions to meet your viewing needs in the car.
Note: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used push-buttons along the bottom edge of the screen.
Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX's 6.94" touchscreen monitor can be detached from the chassis to deter theft (soft carrying case included). You can also enter a 5 to 16 character password that must be entered if the head unit is disconnected from power.
Variable Color Illumination: You can adjust the color of the on-screen display; choose between red, amber, green, blue or white. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color for the unit's button illumination to match your vehicle's interior lighting (112 colors to choose from).
Dimmer: To prevent the touchscreen display and button illumination from being too bright at night, the illumination is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit. You can also turn on or off the dimmer manually. You can even set a timer for the dimmer to turn on or off.
Remote Control: The Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX receiver comes with an IR wireless remote control, plus support for factory steering wheel control (adapter sold separately).
Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged. The head unit's light green wire must be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. The head unit's touchscreen will display "Attention! Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited", if you try to watch a video when your vehicle is in motion.
Note: CarPlay, Android Auto, and AppRadio do not require that the parking brake be engaged.

You can still used wired Android Auto with this. [ Jessica Jan 23, 2019 ]
Both work just fine. Wireless used more phone battery. Wired will charge your battery. You must plug the USB cable into Port 2 on the back of the head unit. Port one is for Apple play. [ Joe Jan 23, 2019 ]
Wired is supported. A wire is provided with a USB receptacle that can be connected to the back of the system for either CarPlay or Android during installation. [ GERALD Jan 23, 2019 ]

No, this is only a DVD unit [ Alejandro Nov 20, 2018 ]
I believe it says that because the Metra dash kit will make the models with the removable faceplate catch when ejecting a DVD disc etc. However, if you play with the positioning in the face plate you can make it work fine. It fit my 2007 Yukon XL Denali just fine, although if you use the USB plugs you might have cut to get them to fit or use USB angle adapters so the plug doesn't extend to far from the back of the radio. [ Todd Nov 10, 2018 ]

Can't help you on this one. You would be better working with a Crutchfield Advisor. [ WILLIAM G Nov 04, 2018 ]
The microphone function does not retain. You will have to use the included microphone with the radio. However, if you buy the adapters then the steering wheel controls & factory reverse camera will work. [ JEREMY Nov 02, 2018 ]
You can sometimes use it but I would use the new one because it it probably better quality than your last one [ ROBERT Nov 02, 2018 ]
With an idatalink likely yes for the cam, probably no for the microphone. Most cars have a factory active microphone, the Pioneer head units use a passive one. Ask an adviser to be sure. [ Benjamin Nov 02, 2018 ]
Yes you can use yours [ jose Nov 02, 2018 ]
Yes but you can turn them off. Dont get camera I have had it almost 2 months and it stopped working. [ Nic Nov 11, 2018 ]
That would depend on the car the radio is installed in. My car is a 2014 Toyota Camry and the lines are part of the camera not the radio. [ Edward Oct 31, 2018 ]

Yes [ ROB Oct 31, 2018 ]
That would depend on the camera, not the head unit. [ Ben Oct 31, 2018 ]
Actually, after double-checking with our research department, they stand by the posted depth. Apparently, the Pioneer provided USB extension cable protrudes from the back of the chassis adding to the overall mounting depth. My apologies for any confusion. I hope that helps. [ Ryan Nov 02, 2018 ] Staff
Sure. The 7.1" spec is with RCAs connected to the rear. If you will be connecting aftermarket amplification, you'll want to consider using RCA cables that feature the right angle end connections. It seems this spec was mistakenly entered as the actual chassis depth so, I'll have our research team review the entry and correct for our fit guide. Thanks for the catch. It's definitely more than two or three hours if you've never installed a stereo before. This is the first unit I had ever installed in the car, and it took me two afternoons. Get the wiring harness take your time. It's not hard, just may need to take your time. Crutchfield help is awesome. [ Matthew Jan 23, 2019 ]
My buddy and I installed it within 3 hours. [ Lou Oct 29, 2018 ]
As a fellow "generally handy" guy, it took me under an hour... and that was with soldering my connections to the harness. [ William Oct 29, 2018 ]
No if they have experience in car audio wiring pretty basic bout 2 hours larger part of job is disassemble the dash I do recommend the ready harness plug and playEnter [ JAMIE Oct 29, 2018 ]
ARE YOU BUYING A READY HARNESS? ARE YOU WIRING YOUR OWN HARNESS? LESS THAN AN HOUR FOR A READY HARNESS, OR AN HOUR TO A COUPLE HOURS FOR WIRING YOUR OWN HARNESS. DEPENDS ON YOUR WIRING SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE. [ Randall Oct 29, 2018 ]
First of all, I don't recommend the 4400. Mine had never worked wirelessly, and now no longer communicates with Android at all, and is intermittent with my wife's iphone. The install was fairly easy, but the wiring diagram had some errors. Crutchfield help line was very good. [ Larry Oct 29, 2018 ]
This install is a challenge, I am experienced and it took me a few days, but it turned out great. This stereo has everything you could want. It has a lot of wires and prep you should look after to get this one right, I love this product though. [ WILLIAM E Oct 29, 2018 ]
It has not been installed. I am havng a local shop installing the unit. I can let you know once the unit is installed. [ glen Oct 29, 2018 ]
If you have everything you need (i.e. dash kit, harness adapter) for your application, it shouldn't be more then a few hour job. [ Paul Oct 29, 2018 ]
It does. I use an iPhone X Max and it works just fine. You have to unlock the phone first, the first time you connect with an accessory. That may have been where the person had difficulty? [ Barry Oct 22, 2018 ]
Yes it does I used to use it frequently and my phone was always at a 100% or almost full charge [ Nick Oct 22, 2018 ]
Mine has powered my iPhone X while running music and maps, with the screen on, and using Carplay. It even charged my phone while doing all this, not just sustaining it. I have the USB extender plugged into the back of the unit. [ Kenneth Oct 22, 2018 ]
I am pretty sure it does. I use Android auto all the time and my phone is always fully charged at the end of my trip. While I don't have an iPhone, the Android phones charge well during use. [ chris Oct 22, 2018 ]
Not sure about iPhone but Android auto running navigation doesn't work well. The USB charger move is sloooow [ ROBERT Oct 22, 2018 ]
This unit requires a separate module for GPS maps. It does work quite well with CarPlay word or wirelessly using Apple Maps, Google maps, or WAZE. I didn't even connect my GPS antenna because all it seems to be for is government regulations. This might help with CarPlay: https://youtu.be/MkWffv3vB6Q [ Tad Oct 18, 2018 ]
The W4400 doesn't have navigation. It uses the navigation off of your phone. If you're using an iPhone - enable car play and you can choose between Waze - google maps and apple maps - as long as you're running iOS 12.0 or higher. If you're using an android - get app radio (pioneers app) and you can use google maps off of you're android. Several videos on YouTube that can show you how to set it up. [ Frank Oct 18, 2018 ]
I use Android auto. I can listen to music from any app while using Google maps for directions. They work at the same time just fine. [ Joe Oct 13, 2018 ]
yes, also waze and google maps finally work if you have an iphone and have ios12 [ JESUS Oct 13, 2018 ]
Yes. [ Michael Oct 13, 2018 ]
I don't use carplay, I use andriod auto and I can listen and use Google maps at the same time. But I'll tell you this, this receiver is extremely glitchy with andriod wiresless. I'm thinking about trying a Kenwood. It works differently every single time I use it. [ Tonya Oct 13, 2018 ]
You can with Android Auto. I'm guessing it will be the same on the Apple side. [ Nicholas Oct 13, 2018 ]
I don't use that service, I use Spotify and song names appear on that. But that's apple car play, not sure that's a relevant answer? Hope so. [ Thomas Sep 29, 2018 ]
Yes, you'll get name of song and artist. We've had these in both cars for about a week now, and live it! The wireless Apple CarPlay works great. [ DANIEL Sep 29, 2018 ]
I didn't hook up the xm radio on mine yet. (Still deciding if it's worth paying monthly fee) but using HD radio, spotify and pandora, all will show artist and song title. Most will show album art as well. I would assume XM radio has the same features. [ JOHN Sep 29, 2018 ]
Yes, you can. There is also a button on the face of the unit that gives you access to the Assistant. [ William Sep 17, 2018 ]
Have not try that yet... but sure it work "hey siri..." I use and iPhone X. [ J Del Solar Sep 17, 2018 ]
There's a hard button on the face of the unit that gives you access to voice commands (on android or ios) [ M Sep 16, 2018 ]
It works when I ask Siri, not sure if google works, but why not? [ Robert Sep 16, 2018 ]
I don't know they give the impression Android phones will connect to this unit if they are a certain rev or have certain capabilities mu Samsung Galaxy will not pair with this unit, I am considering returning it [ Curtis Sep 16, 2018 ]
I have not tried it with an Android phone, but I can say "Hey Siri" while connected through Apple Car Play and it works. It even works while a loud song is playing so I expect that the same will happen with "Hey Google" [ Daniel Sep 16, 2018 ]
According to Pioneer you can. I use an Iphone and can use Siri on my unit. There are youtube videos showing everything you can do with this unit. I suggest you watch one or two before buying. [ Antonio Sep 16, 2018 ]
Yes, you can use google assistant with this head unit.Since its wireless Android Auto you never have to take your phone out of your pocket or your bag to use it. [ Randall Sep 16, 2018 ]
You can with the appropriate hardware to access the steering wheel buttons. [ Nicholas Oct 13, 2018 ]
You can access to Siri with the steering wheel bottom if is paired with car play on the iphone [ J Del Solar Sep 17, 2018 ]
Yes you can add navigation. This unit comes with the navigation antenna, you just have to add the nav unit. Pioneer has the nav unit required. I use my google map app with Apple car play myself. [ ROB Sep 18, 2018 ]
Yes this unit came with a GPS antena. There is a module for about 300$ that can be added later that will give the unit built in navigation. This is a nice unit, my favorite aspect being the wireless car play. [ Scott Sep 18, 2018 ]
It has a port in the back for the Pioneer AVIC-U280. However, it comes with a VSS wire and GPS antenna to help with tunnel and lost signal navigation. You can also use your phones navigation system or app (Waze/Google Maps) when you plug it in or connect wirelessly. I personally plug in my Samsung S8+ AND use Android Auto with Waze. The only difference between the 4400 and the 6400 is that the 6400 is payware navigation with all the perks (tons of locations, lane assistance, etc). The 4400 had a detachable face and SD card support. I'm happy with the 4000. [ Fredo Sep 18, 2018 ]
We found the stock AM/FM antenna in your 2004 Civic to use the standard "motorola" style connector that will plug directly into any aftermarket stereo. So, no, you won't need an antenna adapter. [ Ryan Sep 10, 2018 ] Staff
I checked the Tacoma forums because I have a 2018 4Runner and did not want some stupid clip on microphone in my brand new car. I found a kid who was making factory spec microphones for the unit that clip in EXACTLY where the original one is. People said it sounded BETTER than the original. When I installed the stereo I just unclipped the factory, and clipped his in place. He made the body of the microphone with a 3D printer. [ Christopher Feb 11, 2019 ]
Did you end up getting it to work with your original microphone? [ JoJo46 Nov 08, 2018 ]
I could not figure out a way to use my vehicle (Chrysler) microphone so I had to use the one in the box. When I removed my factory head unit, there wasn't a dedicated microphone wire that I could find. [ Clark Sep 03, 2018 ]
I didn't have a factory microphone but my guess is that it has a standard 3.5mm plug into the headstock unit. If that's the case then that is the input into the pioneer [ Michael Sep 03, 2018 ]
Not sure, I am installing in a 2004 3*0Z [ glen Aug 20, 2018 ]
Don't know. Try it in a Toyota and it works like a champ! [ Roger Aug 20, 2018 ]
It has a motorized adjustable screen for you to change the viewing angle. [ William Oct 29, 2018 ]
I don't think you'll have trouble reading it in the sun. It's not a glossy screen. I don't have the remote in front of me but it's about 1.5" x 3". [ Tad Aug 17, 2018 ]
ABSOLUTELY....Works beautifully. Turns the unit in to an Android computer! And the Pioneer touch screen controls Android. No longer necessary to use the Host screen. [ Christopher Feb 11, 2019 ]
Yes it does [ Derek Aug 09, 2018 ]
Yes it does. I have not implemented it myself on my unit. It supports Miracast for Android and using a HDMI cable for Apple. You should do some research to see if your phone is supported. There are some you tube video's that explain and show how to do it. [ Antonio Aug 08, 2018 ]
Yes but does not work for all android phones. But it definitely works for google phones like the pixel , pixel 2, XL models. [ ryan Aug 23, 2018 ]
from what i can tell [ John Aug 09, 2018 ]
It does. It's supports mirrorlink and android auto. [ Barry Aug 05, 2018 ]
Correct [ Carnell Feb 12, 2019 ]
This unit does not have a built in Sirius XM tuner. You have to purchase the tuner separately, which comes with the antenna. [ RICK L Jul 26, 2018 ]
There is an adapter available from idatalink that allows you to use the factory satellite antenna [ ROB Oct 31, 2018 ]
Have to buy separate xm tuner. [ dustin Jul 25, 2018 ]
If it's an factory camera you might have to get an adapter but it's an aftermarket one it will be fine!! [ Brandon Jul 15, 2018 ]
It should. All the necessary hookups for stock and free market back up cameras are present. I just replaced an older Puoneer deck and the old back up camera works perfectly. [ Ronald Jul 14, 2018 ]
You can also plug the factory gps antenna on the Toyota Tacoma to the Pioneer. [ J Del Solar Sep 17, 2018 ]
The Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX comes with a GPS antenna to enhance the performance of Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Waze navigation maps. You will find this information, and more, by clicking the "Details" tab on the stereo's main webpage and scrolling down below the "Features & Specs" table. [ Ryan Jun 27, 2018 ] Staff
The stereo does provide an option to put lines on your back up camera picture. In my case, the camera I installed headlines displayed, so I turned off the option for lines provided by the stereo [ Matthew Jan 23, 2019 ]
Im not sure if it's built in. I say that, after installing we have the exact same lines we had before. [ DANIEL Sep 29, 2018 ]
The stereo does not provide any parking guidelines. If you want parking assistance guidelines, you can get them built into the rear-view camera model you connect to the stereo. [ Ryan Jun 27, 2018 ] Staff
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy Jun 24, 2018 ] Staff
The stereo's Android Auto function automatically works in hybrid mode if it doesn't detect a speedwire connection. Skip the parking bypass for this model... it works, but then is overridden by the GPS antenna detecting the car in motion. [ William Oct 29, 2018 ]
to bypass the stereo will driveing or anything get a parking bypass for the pioneer it's like 13$ on amazon [ JESUS Jun 21, 2018 ]
You don't need a speed wire. Just hook up the GPS sensor (included) and it does a hybrid calibration. [ ROBERT Jun 20, 2018 ]
My Carplay starts itself when the car is turned on, (after setting up the connection of course). The disclaimer goes away on its own after about a minute. [ Kenneth Oct 22, 2018 ]
So far I haven't found a way to avoid the disclaimer screen every time it powers up. Annoying but it's still a great unit. [ David Jun 05, 2018 ]
You can wait and after about 30 seconds that window automatically disappears. [ Kenneth Jun 05, 2018 ]
10-15 seconds [ Michael Sep 03, 2018 ]
There is no provided specification for boot time. It is a very responsive stereo with a quality processor though. [ Ryan Jun 02, 2018 ] Staff
