Product Research

Pioneer Microphone: The Pioneer CD-VM1 is an optional external microphone for select aftermarket Pioneer in-dash head units with built-in Bluetooth that feature a mono-2.5mm microphone input. The CD-VM1 will provide better performance in noisy environments.

Note: The Pioneer CD-VM1 is not compatible with other aftermarket head units, since these units feature a 3.5mm mic input.

Installation: Install the microphone in a position and orientation that will enable it to pick up the voice of the person operating the system. The microphone features an attached 13' cable with a right-angle male 2.5mm connector which plugs into the microphone input on the rear of your compatible Pioneer head unit. The microphone comes supplied with a mounting clip which allows you to clip the microphone to your visor or mount it to a clean, flat surface using the supplied two-sided tape. Once mounted the, the mounting clip allows you to adjust the angle of the microphone up or down for better coverage in your vehicle.

Will this help me with my pioneer car phone. When my wife calls from the car phone to me in the House 30miles away we can talk ok then all of a sudden I can hear her talking while this noise is going on but she can't hear me talk. Interference? Last maybe seconds I hear the noise stop and than I know I can talk again. Any suggestions please?Rich

Does this work with AVH-110BT stereo?
[ Mccdeb  Aug 26, 2019 ]
1 answer
No, the AVH-110BT has a built in microphone and does not support the use of an external, wired microphone.

is the cdvm1 compatible with the pioneer deh-x4700bt stereo?
[ Robert  Jun 17, 2019 ]

Yes and it works very well in my car. I couldn't understand why my phone did not work when I purchased the radio. They don't tell you that you need to buy for microphone separately for that device
[ DONALD  Jun 27, 2019 ]
Yes the stereo has a place on back that you plug in the external mic. I used this mic with my pioneer stereo and it works great .

I bought a 2018 Ram Big Horn addition with the 8.4 inch screen in dash stereo. It does not have the compact disc player in the center console under the middle seat like some models do. Is there an aftermarket compact disc player available that I can add on to my stereo?
[ mike  Feb 03, 2019 ]
1 answer
Sorry, no. We do not have an aftermarket CD player for connection to the original factory stereo in your truck. For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service:

Will it work with my car stereo?
[ Norman  Sep 27, 2018 ]
2 answers
Norman, if your stereo head supports Bluetooth connection then this mic just plugs into the rear of your stereo then you just need to place the mic where it's most convenient for you to be heard. I hope this helps.
[ TERRI  Sep 27, 2018 ]
It should as long as your radio has a place in the back to insert a microphone

Is this microphone compatible with my pioneer DEH-6800BT?
[ Nick  Dec 04, 2017 ]

Will the Pioneer CD-VM1-Front mic work on my Dual XDVD-600?
[ Phillip  Nov 14, 2017 ]
1 answer
The Pioneer CD-VM1 external microphone is designed for select Pioneer in-dash headunits with built-in Bluetooth that feature a 2.5mm microphone input. I'm afraid it would not work with your Dual XDVD-600 head unit. If you'd like more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat.

Is this compatible with a DEH-X6500BT? And if so can it be connected to where it's permanent and I don't have to plug it in every time I get a call?
[ Marcus  Oct 01, 2017 ]
1 answer
That should get installed permanently since it plugs in to the back of the radio and you point the microphone in the direction you choose.

I have a avh-x2800bs stereo, do i have to use a pioneer mic or will any others work? Thx
[ Jimmy  Jun 16, 2017 ]
1 answer
For best results use the one from pioneer. It is better quality sound and it's only 19.99.
[ Chris  Jun 16, 2017 ]
Hi. Will this fit a Kenwood DDX470 receiver? Thanks
[ CHRIS  Jan 10, 2017 ]
1 answer
Thanks for your question. The microphone is not a direct fit. Your Kenwood has a 3.5mm connection, this microphone has a 2.5mm connector. So it will not work without some type of adapter. Hope this helps.

Is this compatible with the AVH-X2800BS?
[ James  Dec 29, 2016 ]
1 answer
Thanks for your question. Yes it is. It has the same 2.5mm connector as the microphone that came with the Pioneer receiver. Hope this helps.

will this work on a avh4200nex ?
[ Aaron  Sep 24, 2016 ]
1 answer
Technically this unit has a built in mic compatible to a Bluetooth capable phone. So it is not necessary to add one. This unit does have a aux input for this mic which should work, but as I mentioned not required.

Product is flawless not one issue.
[ GILBERT  Jan 20, 2015 ]
Yes it should .
[ WILLIAM M  Jan 20, 2015 ]
I understand that this should work if it has a normal 3.5mm audio jack
[ HARRY VEGA  Jan 20, 2015 ]
Greetings James, Sorry I am no expert, but most Pioneer mike jacks look the same, if you have a Blue tooth phone option. I used the one I ordered when I moved my DEH-6400BT to my next car. All I did was to look the mike up at Pioneer's site, and found Crutchfield usually has it, and also lists it by the Pioneer part number. Confirmed and ordered it. (Their price was low enough to even get the wrong one.) Good Luck. Tony
