Made to improve your sound

You want better sound but can't change the radio in your vehicle? You can still improve the sound quality and fidelity of a standard car audio system with the addition of Pioneer's DEQ-1000A 4-channel amplifier and digital sound processor. The amp can pump out 14 watts RMS to each front and rear speaker, so you'll be able to hear your music clearly over road and wind noise.

Sound processing

In addition to giving you more volume, this amp/processor lets you adjust all the fine details of your music's sound, using 31-band equalizers, high- and low-pass filters, time alignment, and more. You can even eliminate any peculiar factory EQ and time alignment settings, before applying your own sonic improvements.

Can stand alone with more power

The DEQ-1000A has speaker-level inputs for installing with a factory radio, as well as RCA inputs when using an aftermarket receiver. The processor features six high-level RCA preamp outputs, so you can add your own more powerful amplifiers to the mix. You can set these outputs to drive front and rear speakers with a sub, or for a 3-way system using tweeters, midrange drivers, and a sub.

Smartphone control

You control the processing using Pioneer's Sound Tune app on your smartphone connected via USB. You can also stream music from your device into the system using this connection. The app is available for both Android and iPhones.

Full Range inputs only

RandomMemes from San Jose, CA on 5/12/2019

This amp cannot be used with a component system! Pioneer told me....it will NOT utilize the DSP function and only the EQ function with a multichannel component system. This will only work with a full range input.

Pros: The EQ is spot on cool. It made me want to put an old phone in my car as a digital EQ because it works good and looks cool.

Cons: DSP doesn't work for me. It is a glorified EQ without full range input.

Almost perfect

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The vehicle i installed into was a 2005 Subaru Legacy and there is no option for an aftermarket head unit with the automatic climate control, The pioneer S1000A seemed like a good alternative which it is But it does not work with all android phones luckily I had my old iPhone laying around And I was able to use it to set up the DSP. Unfortunately I have to buy a Bluetooth adapter for me to be able to use my android phone other than that the product is really great made my stock speakers sound better. Hopefully this helps out the next guy look it up by this DSP

Pros: Excellent sound quality and easy to hook up with very little wiring

Cons: Does not work with all android devices

Way better sound from factory headunit!

Garrin from Springdale, AR on 2/25/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Great way to improve factory detuned systems, but headunit may be clearer sounding. It will though make your factory stereo play a must wider and more complete frequency range. Easy to set crossovers and each speakers level. It is a lot to learn as there are 4 modes that have distinct sounds and quirks. Volume cannot be controlled via factory knobs and buttons in certain modes. And the remote is a easy way around this, but the remote will not quickly run volume up and down it's a press, press, press kinda deal. My favorite part about this is having a DSP that can be mounted anywhere due to fairly small size and no need in being able to access it to make adjustments! Lastly I cannot attest the power it outputs to speakers as mine runs through a four channel amp. But wouldn't count on it rocking your world!

Pros: Easy adjustment after initial install.

Cons: Modes and different ways to operate through or around dsp completely! May just be learning curve.

Huge Difference for a low cost DSP

William Ortiz from Puerto Rico on 1/2/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Straight forward Integration. Sound has improved dramatically. Installed in my Nissan Altima SR with 6 speakers (Infinity tweeters, 5.25 doors, and 6x9 back). DSP fixed the poor signal delivered by the OEM Radio. Excellent customer service (Gil), fast delivery, and accurate description.

Pros: Fair price for DSP Sound Fidelity Very easy installation (for dummies) Works with 2 ohms speakers

Cons: USB cord Should be longer.

Features

Overview: The Pioneer DEQ-S1000A is a digital sound processor with a built-in amplifier. Using the Pioneer Sound Tune app, you can control the unit with your iOS or Android smartphone. The 48-bit, dual core DSP-based processor enhances the signal of your factory OEM stereo to produce cleaner, more dynamic sound. You can also use the processor with an aftermarket stereo. The DEQ-S1000A features a 31-band EQ and digital time alignment to further improve the performance. The unit gives you the flexibility to upgrade your system all at once, or gradually by adding additional amplifiers and aftermarket speakers and subwoofers. The DEQ-S1000A comes with a wireless remote, and a wiring harness for your signal and power requirements.

Uncompromised Sound: Factory OEM sound systems often use embedded, pre-set equalization to match the head unit to the factory speakers. This pre-set EQ curve limits the power output and frequency range to prevent damaging the low-performance speakers. The pre-set EQ also boosts mid-bass and high frequencies to provide the perception of higher sound quality. The DEQ-S1000A cancels the factory pre-set EQ curve, corrects and restores the audio signal to be closer to the original source, applies post-correction sound controls (31-band EQ, digital time alignment), and outputs the uncompromised audio signal to the built-in amplifier and high-voltage preamp outputs. If you have upgraded the speakers in your vehicle, the DEQ-S1000A helps you get more performance out of them, providing a cleaner signal and more power than the factory radio alone.

Sound Tune App: Pioneer's Sound Tune app puts control of the DEQ-S1000A in the palm of your hand. The app accesses the music library on your phone. When you connect your smartphone to the digital sound processor (wired USB connection only), you can use the power of the app to bring high-end audio to your factory or aftermarket stereo system. The Sound Tune app is compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod touch and requires iOS 10.3 or later. It is also compatible with Android smartphones running OS 5.0 and up. Features of the Sound Tune app include:

  • EQ Presets: The app features seven preset EQ curves, plus two Custom EQ settings. The 7 presets include: Powerful, Super Bass, Natural, Vocal, Vivid, Dynamic, and Flat. The two Custom modes (Labeled A and B) can be edited and saved using a 31-band or 13-band EQ with +/-12dB of adjustment.
  • Super "Todoroki" Sound: Super "Todoroki" Sound boosts low frequencies, and automatically adjusts midrange and high frequencies to provide more impact and clarity to your music. You can set the effect to Low, High, or Off.
  • Live Simulation: You can simulate a live music venue with crowd cheers, clapping, and other effects. The virtual size of the venue can be selected to give you the ambience of a Cafe, Club, Open Air, or Concert Hall. The additional sound effects can be turned on or off with a toggle button.
  • Digital Time Alignment: For better imaging, you can apply digital time alignment to each of the speakers of your system. When the sound from the speakers reach your ears at the same time, you are placed in the "sweet spot", and the stereo imaging and sound staging are greatly improved. You can select a "listening" position, such as Front Left (driver), Front Right (passenger), Front (both seats), and others. The adjustment can be adjusted from 0 to 140" in 1" steps.

Speaker Settings: The DEQ-S1000A lets you choose a speaker setting to match the configuration of your speaker system. If you have the traditional front and rear speaker setup with (or without) a subwoofer, you can select the "Standard Mode" speaker setting. If you have a 3-way system (Low, Mid, High) in your car, you can select the "Network Mode" speaker setting. Depending upon the chosen setting, the processor allows you to set the appropriate crossovers for your speakers:

  • Standard Mode:
    • Front and Rear Speakers (independently adjusted):
      • Frequency (High Pass): 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz

  • Max Power: 50 watts x 4 (50 watts x 2 at 4Ω+ 70 watts x 1 at 2Ω for Subwoofer)

Preamp Outputs: Three pairs of RCA preamp outputs are provided for sending the processed signal to a separate amp (or amps). The preouts are marked Subwoofer, Rear, and Front (for Standard Mode) and Subwoofer, Mid, and High (for Network Mode). Other specs for the preamp outputs include:

  • Output Level (Max): 4.0V
  • Impedance: 250Ω
  • Frequency Response: 10Hz to 20kHz (+0dB, -1dB)
  • S/N Ratio: 105dB
  • THD: 0.01%

Source Selection: The Pioneer DEQ-S1000A can be used with or without connecting a smartphone. If a smartphone is not connected, the unit outputs whatever sound source is selected on the head unit, and no audio adjustment is possible. When an iPhone or Android smartphone is connected, you can select the following "sources" using the included remote control:

  • Car Stereo Mode: The processor outputs the head unit's selected source by passing through the connected smartphone.
  • Smartphone Mode: The unit outputs the sound source of the smartphone.
  • Through Mode: The processor outputs the selected source of the car stereo without passing through the smartphone. Typically, this mode is used when the video and audio are out of sync during video playback in Car Stereo mode.
  • Mix Mode: In Mix Mode, the unit mixes and outputs the sound of the connected smartphone and the head unit. This mode lets you use the voice guidance of the car stereo/navigation system while listening to a source on the smartphone. The music source on the car stereo/navigation system should be turned off in this mode. This mode does not work with some head units.

Remote Control: A simple wireless remote control is included with the DEQ-S1000A. The remote lets you adjust the volume, mute the audio, select the source, control music playback (next track/previous track, play/pause), and change the connection mode (A or B). The A mode is for iPhone or the AOA (Android Open Accessory) connection for Android smartphones. The B mode is for the OTG (On the Go) connection for Android smartphones. The remote communicates via infrared, and comes with a remote sensor with a 79" cable that plugs into an input on the processor. Remote dimensions: 1.269"W x 2.664"H x 0.585"D.

Installation: The DEQ-S1000A can be connected to a factory OEM stereo or an aftermarket stereo. A plug-in wiring harness is provided with power (switched and constant), ground, turn-on, speaker input (2 channels), and speaker output wires (4 channels). If using with an aftermarket stereo with RCA outputs, you can use the preamp inputs instead of the speaker-level input. Your smartphone must be connected to the processor via a compatible USB cable. A 5' USB extension (Type A to Type A) provides extra length, if needed. A 5' parking brake cable is provided to lock out some of the functions of the Sound Tune app when the parking brake is not applied (or if the cable isn't connected). To enjoy the full functionality of the processor and app, adjustments should be made while the vehicle is parked with the parking brake applied. Two metal L-brackets are provided for mounting the processor in your vehicle.

Is the equalizer Left / Right independent like other DSP featuring Pioneer recievers such as the 80PRS, 99rs and so on?
[ Timur  Jul 01, 2019 ]

A
The DSP in this unit can individually adjust time alignments for each speaker, as well as control the crossovers of your front and rear speakers independently of them in standard mode. As far as left/right independency, I do not believe it is.

Which channel would be best suited to connect when using hi-level input? I'd be running all 4 channels off of the integrated amp.
[ jjmxdude  Jun 20, 2019 ]

Ideally you would get signal from both front L/R and rear L/R speakers. If you can only get signal input from one or the other, the front would probably be best.

How much power does this have compared to a basic factory head in a chevy impala (2007)?
[ Rob  Jun 14, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we don't know exactly how much power is being delivered from a stock head unit in a vehicle, but, this amp will be supplying you with more power than your stock stereo. You will notice better fidelity and sound quality in comparison to what your stock stereo is able to deliver, as well as have the ability to adjust and fine tune your system to your liking. Reach out to an Advisor by chatting online, or by phone at 1-800-324-9695, for further info!

[ Dimitar  May 22, 2019 ]

Hi Dimitar! Pioneer's Sound Tune app accesses the music library on your phone, via USB. When you connect your smartphone to the digital sound processor, you can use the power of the app to bring high-end audio to your audio system. The Sound Tune app is compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod touch and requires iOS 10.3 or later, unfortunately, this DSP will not recognize a USB Mass Storage Device.

Does the processor play all the audio output from the phone or just the tracks played on the pioneer app? For example, if I play spotify, the audio was played by the processor?
[ Andrea  May 21, 2019 ]

A
Great question Andrea. When your compatible smartphone is connected to the Pioneer you have a variety of source selection modes including Car Stereo Mode, Smartphone Mode, Through Mode and Mix Mode. When in smartphone mode you will be able to playback anything from your phone (including streaming services like Spotify) with EQ adjustments applied.

I have a pioneer deqs1000a installed. Using the app to control. I have created a custom EQ but every time I change to a new track it reverts back to a flat setting! What's up with that? Why?????
[ John  May 20, 2019 ]

Did you make sure to save the EQ setting after you finished John? You should be able to save 2 custom EQ settings and apply them to any source so long as you save them. If you continue having issues you can contact our tech support for troubleshooting - you can find their info at the bottom of your invoice.

So you can use the pre-amp outputs to send the unamplified, pre-amp signal to another amp. this would essentially be using it just a s a DSP.

Q
Does the unit remember the settings or does it reset each time you plug your phone in? Also can it work without it being connected to your phone? So in other words, once you have it set to your liking can you just power up your head unit and this unit will retain its features and work without your phone having to be connected at all times.

It can be connected through it's wiring harness (it has two high level inputs - left and right) or it can be connected by dual RCA's. The device is 2 in, 6 out so a stereo input provides six output channels.
