Step up to Pioneer components

It's the right time to step up to new speakers — these D Series car speakers deliver superior Pioneer quality at a competitive price. Designed to provide a smooth and open sound that's miles above your factory speakers, the TS-D65C 6-1/2" component speaker system gives you low distortion and unfailing performance, even under the harsh conditions of living in your car doors.

Sweet highs and hearty lows

Pioneer infuses the D Series polypropylene woofer cone with strong aramid fibers, making it both durable and incredibly responsive for the best bass experience possible. A coated textile dome tweeter ensures the excellent high-frequency performance you've been craving, while an inline crossover means you won't have any extra gear to stash in your doors or dash. Prepare for crisp, musical detail and a new, impactful soundstage across your dash that will take enjoyment of your music to the next level — especially if you power these speakers with an aftermarket amplifier.

Fine tuning

Tweeter placement is crucial for vivid, precise playback — that's why Pioneer includes a unique swivel mount with this component system that lets you precisely aim your music's high frequencies. Flush-, surface-, and bracket-mounting hardware gives you more options for installing your tweeters.

Features

Woofers: Each woofer uses an aramid fiber interlaced injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) cone. This process of cone molding assures a uniform thickness and the addition of aramid fibers adds rigidity to the cones.

Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Pioneer, call this size woofer a 6-1/2". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size as a 6-3/4". Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.

Tweeter Mounting: The tweeters can be flush mounted or mounted behind a factory grille using the included housings. Once installed in either housing the tweeters will pivot, so they can be angled to optimize imaging.

Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:

  Factory Mount Flush Mount
Mounting Height 0" 0.543"
Mounting Depth 1.134" 0.591"
Frame Diameter 2.012" 2.322"
Cutout Diameter N/A 2.010"

Crossovers: The high pass crossovers are integrated into the included speaker wire and the low pass crossovers are integrated into the woofer baskets. Both are 6 dB/octave and the crossover point is 3 kHz. The two lengths of speaker wire each connect to both a woofer and tweeter. Quick slides connect to the woofer, a 40" output leg with integrated crossover (approximately 1/2" diameter x 3/4" long) connects to the terminals attached to the tweeter, and an 11" input leg connects to the source.

Q
Is there a crossover for the tweeters too?
[ Andrew  May 23, 2019 ]
2 answers
A
The tweeters and the mid bass both do have passive fixed crossovers built- in individually. If you look at the back of them you noticed. I have these installed in my 2011 Nissan Pathfinder and the sound fantastic. These are pushed by JVC KSAX3102 and JVC KSAX3002 (old school) amps and JBL MS-8 sound processor.
[ JOHNNY B  May 23, 2019 ]
A
It is built into the wiring harness that goes from the midrange sub to the tweeter
[ Ron  May 23, 2019 ]
Q
Can these be bi-amped?
[ KELLEY  May 30, 2018 ]
2 answers
A
Really don't need external amp, but it will bring out the dynamics if you do. Keep in mind that these have fixed individual passive crossovers built in them which means the CAN NOT BE BI-AMPED. Both tweeters and the mid-bass have to be wired in parallel in order to work. My set up consist of (2) individual amps. One is for the two rear speakers and other is located in the front. Both amps is controlled by JBL MS-8 sound processor and sub amp is JBL msa5001 driving JB (1) 8" JL audio w3v2 woofer.

I had mine hooked up to a factory radio and they sounded okay. I later upgraded the headunit and put them on my pioneer 5 channel amp. Sound quality is so much better

I asked the same question of an online Crutchfield rep and he said 90 each. I am running the woofers only with 75 watts rms and although i don't push them too hard i have had no issues.
[ Benjamin  May 20, 2018 ]
A
I believe each so it's a 2x90w, I don't ever recalling a speakers beung labeled as a combined watt
[ Jonathan  May 20, 2018 ]
Q
Do these require an amplifier or will they work with the OEM radio? FYI: I have a 2006 silverado crew cab with speaker and separate tweeter in front doors and speaker in rear doors (total of 4 speakers and 2 tweeters). Also have some device (amp?) hidden behind the glove box. I was told it was a factory amp but not sure and don't know the specs.

A
These speakers are not very efficient (84dB), so, they are not a great match for the minimal factory wattage in any vehicle. They are best when used with an aftermarket amplifier. Q
Are the tweeters for the post mounted factory ones and the other speaker for the door mount?
[ Nicole  Dec 02, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you all the details for your specific installation.
