About the Pioneer TS-W261D4

Built tough for solid bass

Pioneer's TS-W261D4 10" subwoofer is built to take it as well as dishing it out. This Pioneer Champion Series sub features a ribbed cone that's injection-molded for exceptional precision and strength. A double-layered elastic polymer surround supports the woofer during cone excursion so you'll get accurate, hard-hitting bass notes even when things get loud. And the dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for 2- or 8-ohm impedance, so you get the flexibility you need to add more Champion Series subs in the future.

Add some boom to your daily drive

Is your vehicle's audio system is sounding a little thin? This Pioneer sub can remedy that situation, bringing out all the punch and power in your music by filling in the lowest frequencies of the sound spectrum. Throw one or two of these subs in your daily ride, power them up with a nice amp, and you'll understand what the fuss is all about — whatever you listen to, great bass will make it sound much, much better.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 260 and 525 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Features

Woofer: The Pioneer Champion series TS-W261D4 features an IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) cone. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. The cone is lightweight and rigid for low distortion and superior bass response.

Surround: The surround is made of dual-layer, fiber reinforced elastic polymer.

Dual 4Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features two 4Ω voice coils that offer wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Terminals: Both sets of the woofer's spring compression binding post terminals are side-by-side for easy wiring. Each post will accept a pin connector, a single banana plug, or bare wire up to 10-gauge.

Double-stacked Magnet: The woofer uses double-stacked magnets to create a powerful magnetic force. This increases the control exerted over the voice coil.

Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume is 0.8 ft³ (from 0.65 ft³ to 1.25 ft³ is acceptable).

Vented Box Volume: The recommended vented box volume is 1.1 ft³ with a 3" diameter x 7" long port (0.9 ft³ to 1.5 ft³ is acceptable).

Single Reflex Bandpass Volume: The recommended bandpass box has a sealed chamber volume of 0.42 ft³ and a ported chamber volume of 2.6 ft³, with a slot port measuring 14-5/8" x 5-7/8" x 11-1/8". Other acceptable designs keep the same sealed chamber size and the ported chamber changes to 2.3 ft³ with a 14-5/8" x 9" x 11-1/8" slot port, or 3.0 ft³ with an 18-1/8" x 3-5/8" x 9-5/8" slot port.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
1.1 cubic feet ported is that before or after port and woofer displacement? .If its after what size should it be before trying to decide if I have enough room for it to fit. I'm only using 1 so needs to be ported
[ John  Feb 12, 2017 ]

A
Pioneer recommends the ideal ported box volume is 1.1 ft³ with a 3" diameter x 7" long port--the recommended volume is for the empty box chamber, not including the subwoofer's displacement. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
