Keep it in line

Pioneer uses a larger magnet combined with a dual spider design to promote the accurate linear motion a subwoofer needs, just like a piston in an engine. The heavy-duty motor structure guarantees accurate response, so you'll enjoy greater clarity in your bass. The sub's reinforced basket houses a tough polypropylene cone with a dual-layer elastic polymer surround, giving you a durable sub that can handle just about anything you throw at it..

Q
Hi, I plan on purchasing one of these to go with a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D. My question is whether I could use 8 gauge speaker wire with this? Or should I just stick with something smaller like 10 or 12 gauge?
[ MicK_  Apr 14, 2016 ]

A
As long as the amp and subwoofer will be just a few feet apart, 12 gauge wire will be just fine. If they will be 10 or more feet apart, you should go with bigger gauge wire. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

If it is a 4 ohm dvc sub. Wire in parallel. If it is a svc 4 ohm just plug in normal. This amplifier can accommodate 2 dvc4 ohm subs wired in parallel. This can also handle 2 svc 4 ohm wired in parallel or even 4 svc 4 ohm in paralle. A lot of possibilities with this amp since it is 1 ohm stable.

I used two kicker dual 4 ohm voice coils and I wired parallel to 1 ohm and have had no problems. I personally had an engineer decide this wiring option for me.

Q
How do I wire 2 to get 1 ohm?
[ Joseph  Sep 19, 2014 ]
1 answer
A
If you mean two 2-ohm speakers then they have to be wired in parallel, i.e., wire the first red terminal to the second red terminal, and the first black to the second back. That will drop the total ohm load to one ohm. Few amps will drive a continuous 1-ohm load so beware you aren't overloading it.

I'm a little concerned about the freq response only being 80hz on the high side. This sub will be replacing a Memphis mclass 12. It was running on 300 watts at 4ohms, this sub will be at 540 watts at 2 ohms, using an alpine mvr500, your thoughts?
[ Jesse  Jun 02, 2014 ]

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The MRV-M500 will definitely work with the Pioneer sub. You are correct that it will not play a very wide range of bass frequencies and if you are wanting to have the sub alone provide you with the bass notes you should look for something with a wider range. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
the optimum size box for this sub is 1.25cu, the box I'm thinking about is for 2 subs at a total of 2.2cu. that means that the box will be .3 off the optimum size. does anybody how this will affect the sound?

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: For a sealed box you can be between 0.8 to 1.75, so no issue with your box size at all. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
