Shallow Mount Woofer: Pioneer's Shallow-Mount subwoofers are
designed to provide wider installation options for a broad range of vehicles. They
can be mounted behind or under the seats of many vehicles. The TS-SW1001S4 has
interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene)
composite cones. This cone design is lightweight and rigid, resulting in clean,
powerful bass response.
Air Suspension System: Rather than using a standard spider to
control cone movement, Pioneer created an Air Suspension system; using two cones
with a sealed air space between them. The air locked between the main and drive
cones creates a spring-like effect between them. The dual cone
structure maintains better linearity, resulting in consistently clear, powerful,
wide ranging bass response. The drive cone also deflects air pressure inside the
enclosure, which further contributes to the bass output of the small package.
Cast Aluminum Basket: The one-piece cast aluminum basket assembly
holds the motor assembly, cone, and magnet structure securely in place. The benefits
of this design include reduced internal stress, superior damping, and increased
Surround: The two cones use three-layer, fiber-woven
radial surrounds to attach to the basket and form the Air Suspension System. This
design keeps the voice coil centered, even under high power, for clear and powerful
Voice Coil: The TS-SW1001S4 has a 6-layer long voice coil
wound onto a Phenol Resin Coated Glass Cloth bobbin. This design offers higher
sensitivity than conventional designs to provide powerful, tight bass.
Magnet: The woofer has a high-power strontium magnet.
Pole Yoke Design: The woofer's vented and projected pole
yoke design allows for better heat dissipation, increased power handling and
improved linearity during large excursions by expanding the magnetic field.
Terminals: The spring compression binding post terminals will
accept a pin connector, a single banana plug, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.
Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Pioneer
range from 0.35 ft³ to 0.7 ft³; within this range the ideal size is 0.45 ft³.
Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Pioneer
range from 0.5ft³ to 0.7 ft³; within this range the ideal size is 0.6 ft³. The
ideal port size for a 0.6 ft³ enclosure is 3" diameter x 11.5" long.
Single Reflex Bandpass Volume: The bandpass box sizes recommended
by Pioneer range from 0.35 ft³ per chamber to 0.6 ft³ per chamber; within this range
the ideal size is 0.45 ft³ per chamber. One 3" diameter x 7" long port
should be used in an enclosure with 0.45 ft³ chambers.
Warranty Note: The included warranty card indicates a 1 year
parts and labor warranty for Pioneer Premier brand loudspeakers. The warranty is
extended to 3 years if the speakers are installed by a Pioneer Premier dealer.
However, Pioneer has extended the warranty to 3 years for all Premier brand
speakers purchased from Crutchfield, regardless of who installs them.
