You can adjust the colors of this car stereo to match your dash.

Pioneer offers plenty of choices when it comes to CD receivers with Bluetooth®. What sets the DEH-X6900BT apart are the options it gives you to enjoy the very best-sounding music. It's the logical choice for you if sound quality is at the top of your agenda.

You'll start with Pioneer's potent amplifier and 13-band EQ at your disposal, sure to create a big jump in sound quality over your old radio. But if you're ready to go to the next stage, you'll find three pairs of preamp outputs to help you create an audiophile-grade amplified system. You can even set the preamp outputs to run highs, mids, and lows separately, great if you're going with high-end component speakers. Plus, you can enjoy high-quality FLAC audio files, too.

Bluetooth convenience

Bluetooth has changed American driving habits. Why plug in, when you can stream your favorite music services and other content wirelessly from your phone? The DEH-X6900BT adds Wide Band Speech Technology to your driving experience, which ensures incredibly clear phone conversations, so no more shouting to make yourself understood.

Awesome for iPhone and Android™

Once your iPhone's connected to this Pioneer's front-panel USB input, you'll be able to access your playlists with the receiver's controls. You'll also enjoy control over your favorite Pandora® stations on your Android phone or iPhone from this receiver. A handy front aux input handles just about any other audio source.

Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0) lets you access music files stored on many Android phones through USB, plus it lets you control music streaming apps like Pandora® or Spotify with compatible devices. You'll enjoy excellent sound quality and you won't have to pick up the phone whenever you want to skip a track.

Use your phone as a remote

Download Pioneer's Advanced Remote Control App (ARC) to your iOS or Android device, plug into your USB port, and you've got a smart remote control for your Pioneer in the palm of your hand. You'll use your phone's touchscreen to access advanced functions like source selection, playback, music library browsing, music app selection, and much more.

Turn on the color

The DEH-X6900BT CD receiver spans the color spectrum with a multi-color display that lets you choose from thousands of colors for the display and controls — you can even choose different colors for each. MIXTRAX adds to the fun by adding transitions between songs along with a light show that pulses and changes color with the beat of the music.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Display problems make this unit inferior considering the price

Mark from Peoria, AZ on 9/27/2018

    1998 Lexus ES300
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Less then 2 years of service and the display has two problems. The first is that you cant read the display when any sunlight reflects on it. And the second is the failure of night-time display. It was wired so that when my headlights are on I have the basic button LED's displayed. That feature died. Overall I'm very unsatisfied with Pioneer engineering on this unit and will stop buying their products.

Pros: Sounds pretty good when dialed in.

Cons: Bad display, poor blue tooth connectivity controls, confusing menus.

    Poor Bluetooth

Guest from Chicago, IL on 5/4/2018

Everything works great except the Bluetooth. When watching a video on Youtube, there is no lip sync at all, it has delay, same on Netflix. If you go outside the car and move like 1 meter from it, it sound will start skipping. Very bad Bluetooth connection.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was upgrading from the stock unit and this does everything the old one did and more. I now have blue tooth and an aux input to play from sources I was unable to in the past. I was able to customize the colors to match the stock unit too. The sound is excellent. The only negative I have on the unit is, the display isn't bright enough during the day. I am not able to use every color because some get washed out by the sunlight.

Pros: Lots of features for the price

    Cons: Needs a brighter display

    Great value.

Overall, performs as expected. Sound quality on existing Ford Mustang speaker system is excellent. Bluetooth functionality for calls is via external mic. Two concerns that prevented me from giving it five stars. 1) When using paired to an iPhone 7, the call quality is good, however people I call report the sound being a bit soft. 2) The display is not very readable in sunny conditions.

Easy install with the kit, I stream music from a Samsung S4 phone over BT. Connects and resumes music automatically, I don't take my phone out of my pocket unless I need navigation. Connection has been reliable, music resumes and pauses when it should, the steering wheel control adapter works, the stock subwoofer button works (use the power antenna lead). Lots of equalizer, color and display to choose from.

Pros: Reliable Bluetooth connectivity to Android 5.0.1, lots of relevant menu options, easy DIY install and improved sound over the stock FJ unit.

    2003 Toyota RAV4
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound is good and it has a good feature set but two things really detract from the receiver. The LCD screen is often hard to see even with the littlest bit of sunlight. The second is Bluetooth. It often doesn't connect on the first attempt on two different Android phones we use (LG V20 and Samsung J7). I've tried various things trying to narrow down and troubleshoot the issue and I think it's the receiver, not the phones. Sometimes turning off the car and turning it on again will get it to work, but who wants to do that in the hot summer when you're trying to crank the AC? It's extremely frustrating. In comparison, I have an AUX input bluetooth device on my other car and it works seamlessly, you don't have to think about it when you get in the car. It just connects automatically and works perfectly everytime.

Pros: Good sound. Good features with the ability to pull Spotify data and control Bluetooth with the buttons of the unit.

Cons: Hard to see. Hard to connect Bluetooth.

Crutchfield response on 8/7/2017 We're sorry you're having issues with your bluetooth. If the problem continues, please reach out to our tech support team. They can either help get the radio working the way it should, or possibly return it for an exchange or refund.

What more can you say, great little radio! Has all the bells and whistles: aux, is quick charge, bluetooth connection, radio, CD player. All in one package. I was surprised they even made radios with usb fast charging. Simple display, easy to navigate, not cluttered with too much information. Quick start up time and shut off times. Easy installation especially ordering through crutchfield, I almost forgot how crutchfield did all the guess work for you, so you don't have problems purchasing the wrong installation components. Thanks Crutchfield.

Couldn't be happier with this unit. Exceeds expectations. Controls are a little difficult at first but after a week of use I mastered it and the sound once fine tuned is unbelievable. It was easy to install and I love the Bluetooth and hands free calling. It sounded so good I didn't replace my original speakers. An included case would be nice instead of having to shell out additional money. Had a minor issue during installation Spoke to tech support and within minutes problem solved and I'm banging to my favorite metal tunes. Great stereo for the price and I'm future proofed for at least 5 years Would definitely recommend the 6900BT to anyone.

    2001 Acura Integra
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought to replace a dead factory radio, I picked the Pioneer because it seemed to have the cleanest design of comparable systems; many aftermarket head units seem to have been designed by an insane magpie on cocaine. Install was pretty simple, and it mostly worked perfectly out of the box. Was able to almost exactly match my dash light colours - it's highly worth it to splash out the extra ten bucks or so for the variable colour feature. Even at dimmest setting, I found the controls just a little too bright at night when set to some colours (mainly white), but it was fine once I figured out '90s Honda Reddish-Green. The unit sounds very good, however I'm playing through blown factory speakers so I can't comment too much, and I haven't done a side-by-side with anything else. All I can promise is that it sounds better than my phone's speaker amplified by putting it in the dash pocket. User interface takes a little getting used to, and the manual is kind of opaque at first, but I imagine this is pretty usual. Feature-wise, Bluetooth worked with my phone instantly and easily, however the Pioneer ARC App wouldn't connect and I couldn't be bothered to figure out why, so I had to configure the lights and EQ with the more difficult radio UI. MP3 playback from USB drive works well, however it doesn't handle long filenames so you have to use an extra utility (easily available freeware) to sort the files on the drive before they'll play in order if that's what you want

Pros: Works well, sounds good, no issues with Bluetooth or USB mp3 playback. Very configurable, with more EQ bands than most other units at this price point, ability to set delays for each speaker, and other nice audiophile options. Clean design that's fairly easy to blend into your dashboard, rather than looking like it was made by an ADHD raver.

Cons: User interface a little tricky at first (I didn't realise, for instance, that a few buttons around the main dial were even buttons at first, and menus took some getting used to). User manual a little opaque and sparse on some details mp3 sorting on USB drive needs to be done with a third-party utility Had trouble getting the manufacturer's Android app to connect Detachable faceplate but no faceplace case included

Love this receiver, fit like a glove and works as promised for a decent price. My only complaint is the brightness settings, but only for some colors. Whites, and Blues seem to be the brightest. Red is a bit dim in direct light. Unrelated to the product, I was very satisfied with the costumer service provided. Scott from Lynnwood, WA on 6/10/2017

    2008 Toyota RAV4
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit arrived 3 day rocket (Crutchfield's 3 day shipping). Everything was well packed with bio-peanuts. The install in a '08 RAV4 is ridiculously easy. The dash kit was a little flimsy. The harness kit fit the OEM connectors nicely making hook up easy. Turn the radio on nothing, nada, zilch. I double check my wiring, unplug/plug all the connections back in. Then I notice the fuse block on the radio is empty. A dash to my toolbox remedies the problem. The radio looks good until you turn it on. The display is overcrowded with unnecessary information, time, signal strength, function, battery level, forward, rewind, Bluetooth... you get the idea. The dot size of the matrix display is too large making things look blocky. Even cranked up to full brightness the display is near impossible to read anytime but late afternoon or at night. The included microphone didn't pick up well regardless of placement. The Bluetooth dropped randomly even when the iPhone was in the cubby below the radio. The buttons are small. The menu is poorly designed making it cumbersome to setup and use the different functions, lots of bouncing back and forth to get where you want/need to be. All in all, not the pioneer I am used to. I wanted something simple and reliable for my wife, she not a technologist. I got neither, I called on Crutchfield for help. The return got off to a rocky start but came through eventually. The OEM radio is back while I explore other options.

Pros: Pioneer, sounded good, easy to install, support was great.

Cons: Display is awful, overly complicated menu, small buttons. spotty Bluetooth.

    Chose the right one.

    2006 Jeep Wrangler
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a Jeep Wrangler in Arizona. About 15 months ago I replaced the factory stereo with a Sony mex-xb100bt which required its own circuit direct to the battery for the supposed to be wonderful amp and cost about $200; I also upgraded the speakers. After a few hours creating a circuit, soldering the connections and installing it right, it never really worked well; I was unable to listen to talk radio at all or music with the windows rolled down on the highway. Then it stopped working - wouldn't power up. It was no longer under guarantee, so I had to send it in or replace it. I decided to replace it. I actually threw it in the trash! I usually would have tinkered with it and figure out the issues, but it was so annoying to use and counter intuitive that I just treated it like the trash it was. I did a little research and had settled on a $300 "Heavy Duty" radio that was built for boats and ATV's. After speaking with a well informed rep from Crutchfield I changed to this Pioneer DEH-X6900BT. An hour of removing and installation the new stereo is a winner! The sound is crisp and clear, the settings are intuitive and easy to use. The controls make sense and are simple. If I want to use USB or Blue Tooth I can. Handsfree automatic connecting to my iPhone work without having to be distracted from driving to find the right buttons to push. I am happy to have spent about $100 for what I needed. A simple stereo that has the right bells and whistles.

Pros: Easy install, intuitive operation, useful features but not too many easy to read buttons color scheme makes it easy to read and adjustable volume is + equalizer and adjustments work well easy operation hands free is "hands free"

Install was simple and quick, the hard part was getting out the old head unit. Bluetooth seems to work fine, my phone was the only issue with connectivity sometimes. The included microphone doesn't sound half-bad, either. My only real complaint is that it seems like the radio has more static compared to the stock head unit, but that could be caused by a loose or otherwise ill-fitting connector.

This unit simply doesn't fail to "WOW" me. I started with a Pioneer MVH-X370BT, and while it wasn't a terrible unit, I was left wanting additional sets of RCA outputs (that unit only had one set) and RGB lighting to match my interior. Ended up 1:1 trading with a friend for a Kenwood BT315U, and while that unit had the RCA outputs and RGB lighting I was looking for, it was far too quirky for my liking. Dim display, non-auto playing Bluetooth, and a frustratingly flawed auto-adjusting clock (kept going an hour off, no matter what adjustments were made) made me realize just how refined Pioneer units are. A little bit of shopping around, I settled on the DEH-X6900BT as it had the RGB lighting, auto playing bluetooth, and RCA outputs I was after. Couldn't be happier! It does everything I could ever expect it to!

Pros: - RGB lighting - CD player - Auto-playing Bluetooth (pairs AND plays from your phone when it turns on) - Simple clock. Doesn't try to be more than it should be. - Huge variety of display modes, allowing for clock, speana, BT info, and track info all at once! If your car doesn't have a clock, it is always there at a glance. - A huge amount of customization I can't even begin to list here. Wouldn't hurt to read through the manual to see just how much this affordable unit can do.

Cons: - Deep unit, make sure you have additional clearance at the rear if you're planning on using RCA connections.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I upgraded from DEH-X6700BT for the extra set of RCA outs on the back for a dedicated subwoofer. For the price, this is a very nice head unit. My main gripe about the DEH-X6700BT was that the icons for the 1-6 buttons indicating functions like Shuffle and Repeat were not illuminated with the rest of the head unit, making it impossible to see at night. They are illuminated on the DEH-X6900BT and the buttons seem to be more ergonomic in general, just coming from my usage of the unit. Though the menu can be lengthy to navigate, it provides many options for customizing your experience with it. You can set the buttons to one color and the dial to another color, which I thought was pretty cool albeit not something I would have mandated for a head unit I purchase. My bottom line is that this head unit was not only everything I needed, but very budget-friendly and came with a lot of cool features I wasn't even expecting.

Pros: customization, good lighting, dedicated RCA subwoofer output

The backlight is too dim to read during the day. I knew that would be an issue reading all the other reviews. But, other than that, it works great! Actually working it can be a little confusing as well, so read the manual before using it. The sound comes out rather quiet as well, but that seems to be an issue with my line in converter having weak signal that sends to my factory amp and speakers. But all in all, this thing is SWEEEET and it does play flac files and sounds great at it too

Pros: Cheap, very high quality, easy to install, sounds great. Everything works. (Im a sound engineer/do mixing and mastering for a living, I know good quality sound, and this has it)

Cons: Can not view display during the day, because it's too dim. Also, it's slightly too quiet. I have to turn the volume 80-90% up to hear it clearly over open window and highway noise. No detectable distortion though.

They said everything changed from the previous model. The display is hard to read during the day, no matter what illumination I set it at. It does not sound as good as the original equipment. Buttons are very small and hard to find while driving - safety hazard. The phone hands free does not work with an android phone. It does not have hands free voice commands with an Android phone. (The ad was misleading). I'm clearly in the minority, but if your not a gadget techie, don't buy it.

My last receiver was a pioneer, decided to get another since the worrying would be an easy reinstall. However I cannot seem to get Spotify to show up when I cycle through my sources. The manual does not not say what to do if this happens. This was the reason I got this particular model. If someone can shed any light on how to solve this issue I'll bump this up to 5 stars.

Pros: Nice sound Plenty of options for display Haven't had time to play with it much yet, I will add more when I do.

Bought and installed this myself for Honda CRV 2012. The stereo itself was an upgrade from stock system and I also purchased Pioneer 2-way speakers for the front doors. This was an appreciable upgrade for someone who grew up as a musician and really enjoy music on my commutes for anything from EDM/dance to hip hop to Michael Buble or John Mayer to classical music. The stereo worked well and I liked all the features. I would purchase this one again. Unfortunately, I was rear-ended and thus the car stereo is going into the total loss column. I will say that my customer support with Crutchfield and the instructions provided were very poor actually for the most part and I wasted a lot of time and frustration. I would rate customer support fairly low.

This is the fourth Pioneer I have put in our cars in as many years. Changing out nothing else but the factory radio with a Pioneer stereo has resulted in dramatically improved dynamics. This DEH-X6900BT is the best yet!

Pros: Very dynamic sound on factory speakers supported by good EQ options Crystal clear Bluetooth reception and performance Good Apps (Pandora and Spotify) Decent phone app (in lieu of remote control) Excellent radio reception Under $100 - are you kidding me?!

Cons: Gauge of wires on wiring connector is perhaps a tad small (being super picky) Perhaps too many options and menus to have to step through (again picky?) Wonder how well the clock will work on this Pioneer? The clocks on the previous 3 units lost 10 minutes a week on average.

Only question was if the solid blue wire on harness was supposed to connect to the blue/white wire on radio labeled "Auto Antenna" which my car does not have. I just had this unit installed in my 1995 Ford Bronco to give her Bluetooth. I wasn't really worried about the radio. But now that it in. I find myself using the radio more than I have in years. I live in northern Michigan and coverage can be spotty. But with this Pioneer I have more stations coming in more clearly than before. But the thing that I was really looking for; Bluetooth. Was everything I hoped it would be. It's quick and easy to pair any device with this radio. The controls are clearly marked and easy to use while on the move. And when I was reminded about the remote. I thought what do I need a remote for? Turns out it's very handy for volume control. I love it for that. All in all this was a great experience. And I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this very reasonably priced unit to a friend. The only negative is the display is not that bright or easy to read in bright direct sunlight. I haven't found this to be something that would disqualify this unit, in my opinion.

Good looking and great sounding radio. There are two drawbacks however, that warrant less than five stars. The first is that the included trim does not accurately fit my factory slot so I'll have to file a centimeter or two of plastic. The second is that the digital display is impossible to see (even with the illumination at maximum) in bright sunlight; direct light, reflections, etc. If you're driving on a sunny day, you'll have a hard time seeing your display.

Bought this stereo deck for my daughter's 2006 Jeep Liberty. she wanted the BT and Aux connections. We were looking at the DEH-X4900BT but chose the DEH-X6900BT because it had a 13-band equalizer vs 5-band, and a couple other features, and was on sale for the same price. Had it installed by a mobile electronics professional. Have only had it in her Jeep for a week but so far she says it's awesome.

    Pros: BT/13-band Equalizer

    Cons: None so far.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong as the only 1-star review--entirely possible that this is on me and something I've done wrong. That said, this unit drops bluetooth connectivity literally every time I start the car--it connects then drops in the first 15 seconds. I page through the inputs and then it usually re-connects. It routinely crashes and loses all functionality--radio, bluetooth, USB. When it does this, I have to stop the car, turn the car off and back on because the power off function on the receiver is behind a menu I can't figure out. The phone sounds fine on my end (when it works, which is about 30% of the time) but I've had complaints of barely hearing me or loud background noise (described as the sound of popcorn popping, so not road noise) from people I've called. I honestly have never been more disappointed in an electronic product I've bought, and I owned an Apple Newton. Crutchfield was awesome helping me install this thing, but sadly, I long for my old factory stereo, where at least the radio got reception.

Pros: The functionality fits exactly what I wanted, but...

Cons: It rarely works right on the first try.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

An excellent product, I bought it because I've been familiar with Pioneer for many years now. This thing is pretty darn cool. Simple access to my Android, remote that works, display matches my OEM dash color (amber +2red), powerful enough to be loud and clear, but not obnoxiously so. Clean sound reasonable rich bass. I am very happy with this stereo. Only two small details to detract from an otherwise glowing review. #1 The display is a bit tough to read in the sun. But I do have a sunroof, so I can't complain too much. and #2 The face seems impossible to remove from the unit. It is a strong fit, and I'm fine with that, it just seems like I feel am going to break it. Alas, I am a bit fumble fingered when I get home from work, so there it is. Awesome stereo, should've gotten one sooner.

Pros: Does exactly what it is supposed to do, rich base, smartphone access, multi color display all work like a charm. I love this thing.

Cons: Face is sometimes difficult to read during the day, Amber color mode. White/green/teal(aqua) are fine. Red is too dark for daytime use.

An incredible value with superior sound shaping that let's one make the most of deck power and vehicle acoustics by high-passing the factory amp to eliminate the lowest frequencies 6.5 and 5x7/6x8 speakers in this Bronc can't reproduce anyway. Super simple with the Crutchfield adapters, harnesses and accessories.

This deck is a nice upgrade from the factory radio, especially once I found the Loudness settings. The look is very clean with the added installation kit. It really gave a boost to my factory speakers. I haven't tried the remote yet, but the Bluetooth worked well. There are too many features to try them all at this point, but it easily has what I need and much more. I've been a Crutchfield customer since 1992, and I am glad I had a reason to deal with them again. The 2006 Ram 1500 vehicle specific installation instructions are a bit lacking, but they got me close enough to get the job done. The bolts were 7mm, not 8mm, and I don't have a console so I had to figure a few things out on my own. The deck installs through the back of the Scosche installation kit, not the front. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

    2004 Hyundai Sonata
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I need to break my review into three sections... Directions, Customer Service and Product. The directions for my car, 2004 Hyundai Sonata, are really good. The first issue I had was with wire harness, the radio has one wire for Amp Turn-on or Power Antenna and the wire harness has a wire for Amp Turn-on and one for Power Antenna, so I connected the Power Antenna. Before completely installing the radio I tested it and it appeared the radio was working correctly, but no sound. Turns out I was suppose to connect both wires from the harness to the one on the radio. The second issue is I scratched the face plate while installing the radio, it would of been nice if the directions suggest removing the face plate during installation. Technical Service is excellent! I had about a minute wait before a technician took my call and he zeroed right into the cause of why I wasn't getting sound. The radio is awesome! The sound is great and the bluetooth paring was real easy. Music sounds great over bluetooth and hands free sound quality in the car is excellent and on the other end was clear, but sounds like a speaker phone. Navigating the settings isn't bad, but a lot of the setting names are not intuitive and the manual doesn't explain them well. The Pioneer ARC app is really neat, but is difficult to connect to the radio.

Pros: Technical Service Installation instructions Radio Excellent sound (I am not an audiophile) Music over BT Hands free is pretty good

Cons: Connecting radio to Pioneer ARC app

Unfortunately, everyone I've called on this thing said I sound like I'm in a tunnel, but that may be the way my phone transmits Bluetooth, however.

    2008 Dodge Caliber
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good stereo, so far. Big problem with the Crutchfield directions that were enclosed. They did not consider the fact that the wiring for a 2008 Dodge Caliber is different from the other vehicles that this stereo fits... thus rendering the directions for this particular vehicle useless. After correctly installing it, following the directions that were given to us, the stereo would not come on. So we ended up having to take it to an audio shop near us and paid extra money for them to tell us that stereos for the '08 calibers have to be wired through the lighter... and it took them 5 minutes to fix that. A simple correction in the direction sheet would have saved us an afternoon and the additional money we had to spend.

Pros: Looks good in the car and has a good sound. My son loves that he can listen to anything that he has stored on his cell phone and tablet.

Cons: If you get this for a Dodge Caliber (2008) and go directly by the downloaded directions, it won't work. These vehicles are wired differently.

I used to buy "cheap" stereos for this price when I sold a car and transfer the nice stereo to the new car. No need for that now, this is the third 6800/6900 that I've bought in the last year and a half for different cars. What a time we're living in.

Pros: Price, price, price Audio adjustability 6 pre-amp outs Bluetooth w/ remote mic All the good stuff

Cons: Switching between wired and Bluetooth has given me problems

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Music is super important to me as it influences my mood progressively through my day. I'm always listening to music and I needed a head unit that gave me what I needed but didn't break my wallet. I just purchased my dream car but as amazing as it is it lacked a modern stereo system. Crutchfield offered a very clean and sleek stereo head unit at a very competitive price. I love the EQ system and how fast it connects to my IPhone via Bluetooth. I had to call tech support twice for help and both times I was greeted by very friendly staff that treated me with respect. Both of Crutchfield's tech support staff were very attentive to my questions and concerns and made my install super easy. My 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution GSR looks way better and is rocking an awesome head unit now. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Great EQ, Sleek look, Competative price, very easy install.

Cons: Non that I can think of.

Lots of features for the price. Good instructions for install and use Still debugging bluetooth connection to my wife's phone, it's not persistent. A bit of an adjustment compared to the Double DIN it replaced; button and display are very small compared to the factory unit. For example, in the factory double-DIN, adjusting the fader was a simple nob adjust that could be done by feel. Now, it's in a sub-menu that you must navigate to. We used this feature all the time to send the kids music to the back when we had enough Wish the power trigger was pushing on the volume knob...that's seems more natural. Instead it's pressing and holding "SRC" in the upper left

It's not the best stereo I've ever had but in the end it does the trick. It has trouble remembering my phone for BT even tho it's an apple phone and it supposedly for iPhone integration and the text blinks too rapidly so it's hard to read when choosing certain settings. Other than that, I think it's great!

I've been buying Pioneer products for the last 40 years or so - they just work! This is no exception. I replaced the stock radio in my 2014 Hyundai Elantra with this unit and I'm so glad I did. I was using the stock radio for Sirius/XM, but I've dumped Sirius for Pandora and Amazon and I couldn't be happier. Installation was a breeze. Crutchfield sends you everything you need. I soldered and shrink-wrapped the wiring to make sure nothing comes loose. Connects to my Andriod as soon as the radio powers up. The Bluetooth phone is crystal clear as well. We're going to be replacing the stock radio in our Hyundai Accent with this unit as well. Lots of bang for the buck.

Pros: Great look / feel. Easy to customize. Great color selection for radio and touch keys. Sounds fantastic.

Cons: Just can't think of anything. some users have complained of dim display. I don't see any issues. You can customize how bright / dim you want the display to be depending on time of day.

Excellent product. Was always a Kenwood fan until now. This head unit connects painlessly (once paired) and automatically to your phone and bluetooth. It also has a very intuitive settings system and display.... for example: 1. it always displays the clock, a minor thing that other brands overlook 2. it shows the status of the on/off setting like so "BT MODE: ON" or "BT MODE: OFF" instead of having to go into a sub menu and set it. (another minor thing that people overlook) 3. it has SEPARATE CROSSOVERS!!! for both FRONT and REAR.... something no other head unit has ive seen. I am now a Pioneer fan. Thanks. Don't mess your products up, Pioneer!!!

Pros: SEPARATE CROSSOVERS ALWAYS DISPLAYS CLOCK FLAWLESS and PAINLESS AUTOMATIC BLUETOOTH CONNECTION INTUITIVE MENU

Cons: SETTINGS NAVIGATION IS SLOW (VISUALS CAN GET IN THE WAY)

One complaint I saw frequently in reviews for this product is that the display is too dim during the day, but I have not had that problem at all. I've had this receiver for a few weeks now and I can honestly say I am impressed with it. Installation was easy as expected, though this is far from my first stereo install. Setup was relatively straight forward and easy to figure out without need of the manual. I was impressed by the amount of amplification this unit could actually put out and it sounds excellent and clear coming through the 2 Polk Audio DB652's I installed along with it. Overall I would likely purchase again.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was reluctant to do a install myself even though I have worked in electronics my whole life. I did a couple installs many years ago that didn't go well but decided to go for it anyway! The instal went perfect and the harness and unit matched up fantastic! I also recommend the posi connectors, those are very cool and make a connection for life. I was just looking for something to play my music mixes from a flash drive but this unit does so much more. The audio is day and night better than the Toyota factory unit, it's what I noticed first, my wife said, "you can hear the music at a lower level perfect". The blue tooth is far superior quality than the one we had in a Prius that we were leasing. We like the one button answer,no distraction from driving. I didn't think we would use the DJ mix function or the light show but it's very cool. I am so happy I bought this from Crutchfield because I did have a question about the harness when I was installing. There customer service was right there when I called and answered my question. I'm a happy camper with this stereo!

Pros: Great sound, excellent Blue Tooth connectivity.

Cons: The pioneer manual didn't have the pin out for the harness as clear as it should be.

I have been a huge fan of Pioneer head units for over 20 years. Pros: - This unit is easy to use/install. - The 3 preouts are awesome for really customizing your sound - I love having the remote Cons: The Bluetooth sometimes loses connection for no reason and/or does not automatically connect when you get back to the car - The Pioneer ARC app is useless. It is slow to connect and glitchy. Plus, you pretty much get the same (if not better) functionality from just connecting the phone via Bluetooth and using the remote. - In the middle of switching folders on my USB, the unit went to "Format Read" and wouldn't play anything off the drive anymore. I ended up having to copy everything off the drive, format it, and recopy the stuff back before it would read it.

I purchased this stereo based on an online recommendation. I'm extremely happy with this stereo. I primarily wanted a good sounding stereo with integrated phone support. This stereo has an excellent exterior microphone I installed over my rear view mirror to reduce road noise and improve coverage. I also liked that the callers voice is on the rear speakers to reduce feedback to the mic. The controls are easy to remember after reading the manual. You can preset speed dial numbers on the receiver. I listen to audio books during my commute. When I start my vehicle the radio reconnects to my Android phone and starts playing the Audible app from where I left off. The sound quality is very good when listening to music. All in all great bang for the buck.

Pros: Great Bluetooth support, Easy to use.

Cons: No Xmradio support, or HD Radio

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 3.0: The DEH-X6900BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth 3.0, allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit.  In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles -

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer DEH-X6900BT.

Multi-Device Pairing w/ Dual Phone Connection: Up to five Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this receiver. You are even able to keep two Bluetooth-enabled phones connected at the same time, so you can make and receive calls from either phone through the head unit. You can only stream music from one phone at a time; you will be able switch between the two phones in the head unit's menu. Additional pairing features include -

    • SSP (Simple Secure Pairing: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DEH-X6900BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings (your phone must also support SSP).
    • USB Pairing for iPhone: You can also pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) by simply connecting it to the Pioneer head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.
    • Guest Mode: "Guest Mode" allows you to add and replace a 5th mobile device instantly to the receiver; Guest Mode is a great feature for a family vehicle with multiple drivers or a driver with multiple devices because it allows users to pair and delete devices easily without a lengthy registration or deletion process.

Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The DEH-X6900BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. And, thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the DEH-X6900BT provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The DEH-X6900BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: During an incoming call, the head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call.
    • Making A Call: Using the DEH-X6900BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways -
      • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book from the head unit, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically.
      • Presets: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
      • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.
      • Voice Dialing (Siri & Google Voice): When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or later via Bluetooth, the Pioneer head unit has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. It also supports Google Voice for select Android smartphones (not compatible with Samsung "S Voice"). You'll be able to dial a phone number or contact via voice command.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

    • Music Control: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the DEH-X6900BT lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4 phones only; which includes Android 4.0+ and iPhone 5.0+).
    • Song/Artist Info: The head unit will also display song/album/artist information from your Bluetooth device's stored music and select music apps on your device.

Siri Eyes-Free Control: When paired and connected to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the Pioneer DEH-X6900BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press and hold head unit's phone key to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the DEH-X6900BT and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit's front-panel LCD will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Pioneer CD receiver; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device)..

    Android & iPhone Integration

Android Direct Connect via USB: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT enables playback of stored music and music apps on select Android devices through its front-panel USB port. There are two types of modes to choose from based on your type of Android smartphone and what content you want to listen to.

    • AOA 2.0 (Stored Music & Music Apps): The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets  you connect your Android smartphone (OS 4.1+) to the DEH-X6900BT's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and select music apps from your Android device through the Pioneer receiver. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; you'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • MTP (Stored Music + Song/Artist Info): The DEH-X6900BT also supports MTP for playback & control of stored MP3/WMA music files on your Android (OS 4.0+) device through the Pioneer receiver's front-panel USB port. In this mode, you get basic playback control (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track), plus song/artist information on the receiver's LCD screen. During MTP connection, you cannot use your Android smartphone's touchscreen to control music playback and you cannot select music apps from your smartphone for playback. However, you can continue to listen to stored music on your Android smartphone through the head unit while you check your Calendar, Facebook, Texts, etc on your phone.
Note: You will need to setup Android connectivity within the head unit's menu. Select "Memory" for MTP mode and "App Control" for AOA 2.0 mode. Not all Android devices are compatible with AOA 2.0 or MTP, regardless of operating system.

iPod Direct Connect via USB: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT supports audio playback of stored music & music apps on your Apple iPod/iPhone, along with control and song/artist information display through its front-panel USB port. Control modes include -

    • Head Unit Mode: From the head unit, you can browse your iPod/iPhone's music library by Artist, Album, Song, Genre, Playlist, Composer, Podcast, or Audiobook. Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically. In addition, the head unit offers Link Play, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Play lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre. You can also select Random & Repeat functions for a certain song or specific folder. The head unit will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music file information; including Track number, Elapsed playing time, and Song/Artist/Album name. Apple devices w/ iOS 6.0+ will stay unlocked, so you can access music apps; other iPod/iPhone device's clickwheel or touchscreen will be locked during this mode.
    • iPod/iPhone Mode: In iPod/iPhone mode, you can navigate the stored music on your iPod/iPhone from its clickwheel or touchscreen, while still being able to view song/artist information and control basic playback functions from the head unit. You will not be able to browse your iPod/iPhone's music by category from the head unit or use Link Play in this mode.
    • App Mode: App mode lets you listen to your favorite music apps from your iPhone (iOS 5.0+) through the Pioneer head unit and your vehicle's speakers. Once you have selected the music app from your iPhone, you'll be able to listen to music from that app through the Pioneer head unit, view song/artist information on the head unit's LCD, and operate basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from the head unit's front-panel control. Not all apps will be compatible with App Mode.

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.

Mobile Device Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected Android smartphone or Apple iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your mobile device has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it).

USB Auto Function: The receiver's "USB Auto" function can be set to ON to enable the head unit to automatically switch to the USB source for playback when a USB-enabled device is connected. If set to OFF, the receiver will not switch sources and simply charge the connected USB device.

    Pandora+Spotify+AM/FM Radio

Pandora Internet Radio: The free Pandora App (either from the Apple App Store or Google Play) lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-X6900BT using your USB-connected Apple iPhone (iOS 8.0+) or Bluetooth paired Android smartphone. Your Apple iPhone must be connected to the DEH-X6900BT via the CD-IU52 Pioneer iPod connector cable or the connector-cable that came with your iPhone. Your Android smartphone must support A2DP/AVRCP/SPP Bluetooth profiles and be paired with the Pioneer receiver. Your iPhone or Android smartphone will also need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. The DEH-X4700BT provides control over the Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information.

    • Station List: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Shuffle Station List: You can listen to songs played randomly from various stations within your Station List.
    • New Stations + Delete: New stations can be created based on the current songs or artists playing. You can also delete a station from your Pandora station list.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.

Spotify Online Music Service: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT has the ability to playback & control content from the Spotify music app on your USB-connected iPhone (iOS 7.0+) device or Bluetooth-paired Android smartphone. You can play, pause and skip tracks, browse playlists, albums and radio stations through the Pioneer receiver's front-panel controls. You also get song/artist information on the unit's front-panel LCD. Access to the Spotify service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or Android device to connect to the Internet. If you are a Spotify Premium user (requires a monthly paid subscription), you can enjoy ad-free, high quality music even when there is no internet connection.

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

    Disc/USB/Aux Playback

Compatible Discs: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT CD receiver supports playback of CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. This unit can play MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs.

    • Off Insert/Eject + Auto Power On: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.
    • Auto Off Eject: When you eject a disc, the unit will automatically power off (unless you switch sources before ejecting the disc).
    • Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is obtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 60-degrees.

USB Mass Storage Class Device: In addition to Apple and Android device connectivity, the CD receiver's front-panel USB-A 2.0 port allows you to connect a USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) device, such as a USB thumbdrive or flashdrive (up to 32GB). The USB port enables audio playback & control of MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, and WAV audio files stored on your portable USB MSC device through the Pioneer DEH-X6900BT. Basic playback controls included Play/Pause, FW/RW, Previous/Next Track, and Random/Repeat. Song/artist information such as track, artist, and album name will also be displayed on the head unit.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X6900BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)

The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The Pioneer DEH-X6800BS lets you adjust the subwoofer preamp output's phase (normal/reverse) and volume (+10 to -24).

Crossovers: The DEH-X6900BT employs high-pass and low-pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speaker setup.

    • Standard: Allows you to set the high-pass and low-pass crossover network for a standard Front, Rear, and Subwoofer speaker setup using either speaker-level or low-level outputs.
      • HPF: The head unit's -6 to -24dB/octave high pass filter only allows frequencies higher than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200Hz) to your front and rear speakers through the unit's speaker-level or line-level outputs.
      • LPF: The subwoofer preamp output features an -6 to -24dB/octave low pass filter so only frequencies lower than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200Hz) are output to your connected subwoofer.
    • Network: Allows you to set the high-pass and low-pass crossover network for a complex 3-way speaker system with Highs, Mids, and Sub using low-level outputs only.
      • Highs: The high-pass crossover for your tweeters can be set to 1.25, 1.6, 2, 2.5, 3.15, 4, 5, 6.3, 8, 10, or 12.5 kHz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.
      • Mids: You can set a high-pass and low-pass crossover from your midrange/midbass drivers. The high-pass crossover can be set to 1.25, 1.6, 2, 2.5, 3.15, 4, 5, 6.3, 8, 10, or 12.5 kHz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off. The low-pass crossover can be set to 26, 31.5, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, or 250 Hz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.
      • Lows: The low-pass crossover for your subwoofers can be set to 26, 31.5, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, or 250 Hz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.

EEQ (Easy EQ) w/ 13-Band Graphic EQ: There are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2. The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 13-band graphic equalizer (50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 1.25k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k, and 12.5k Hz).

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB, iPod/iPhone, and Android devices. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Listening Position & Time Alignment: For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right, or Front. You can also select to manually fine tune the sound stage, using Digital Time Alignment (DTA) by selecting the distance (0-140") for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position.

Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT CD receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.

    • Bass Boost The DEH-X6900BT features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
    • Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
    • Speaker Level: You can adjust each speaker and sub channel independently from +10 to -24 to best even out the sound in your vehicle.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.
    • Auto Level: This function automatically corrects the audio level difference between the music files and/or the sources.

Rear Speaker Setup: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 3 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPod/iPhone, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone, and is not supported by USB MTP devices. The Advanced Sound Retriever function is disabled when MIXTRAX is activated.

    Remote Control

Advanced Remote Control App (for Apple iOS & Android): Download the Pioneer ARC (Advanced Remote Control) App onto your Apple iOS (8.0+) or Android (4.1+) device to turn your smartphone or tablet device into a remote control for the Pioneer head unit. Your Apple iOS device can be connected via USB or Bluetooth, while your Android device can only be connected via USB. The following control features are available via the Pioneer Advanced Remote Control App.

    • Playback Functions: The app offers basic playback functions like Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, and Random/Repeat for CD music and your mobile device's music library. You are also able to browse your Apple iOS or Android device's music library by Artist, Album, Song, Genre, or Playlist. For AM/FM tuner, you are able to seek stations, switch AM/FM bands, and select presets from the Pioneer ARC app.
    • Song/Artist Info + Album Art: The Pioneer Advanced Remote Control App provides song/artist information with album art for the music stored on your Apple iOS or Android device. You also get station identification for AM/FM radio; if an AM/FM station supports RDS, you will even get song/artist info. In addition, you get track number for CD playback.
    • Favorites: The app lets you quickly display radio stations saved as favorites, plus favorite songs in your Apple iOS or Android device's music library. From the Favorite screen, you also get access to contacts saved as "favorites" on your smartphone.
    • Select Apps: From the Pioneer ARC app, you can also pick from select music apps (like Pandora, iHeart, Spotify, TuneIn) that are installed on your Apple iOS or Android device. Once you select a specific music app, that particular music app opens on your mobile device for playback control.
Note: If you switch to other applications and functions, such as using other iOS device or Android applications or placing calls from your smartphone, you must restart the Pioneer ARC app on your iOS device or Android device.

Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X6900BT comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause playback, skip music tracks, change display info, and answer/end Bluetooth phone call. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT in-dash CD receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets you match the receiver's illumination to your vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The display & button illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 12 preset colors, customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors.

Brightness & Dimmer Control: You can manually adjust the brightness (1-10) of the head unit's display & button illumination to suit your viewing needs. You can also sync the receiver's display & button illumination to the head units' clock or your vehicle's headlights. To dim the receiver's display & button illumination automatically when the vehicle's headlights are turned on, you'll need to hardwire the orange/white wire of the head unit's harness to your vehicle's parking light circuit.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose different patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music.

Clock Display: You can select between the receiver's clock display or source display. Pressing and holding the "OFF/SOURCE" button turns off the head unit's audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can then press the "D" button to turn off all illumination).

Read hundreds of reviews from multiple sites looking for a stereo with good Bluetooth phone performance. It was between this unit and the Alpine CDE-143BT, which also has a lot of good reviews, but I prefer routing the microphone plug into the back of the radio instead of to the front face. I don't want HD radio or Sirius. I do wish this model had a rear USB (that I would route to the glove box). [ Robin A.  Apr 09, 2017 ]
    Highly rated online. [ Gregory  Apr 07, 2017 ]
The comparable Kenwood unit seemed much more difficult to use with a direct USB connection, and this plays CDs. [ Brandon  Apr 03, 2017 ]

Multicolor display and seems more muted compared to the others which have too much bling for an older BMW. [ Waj  Dec 21, 2016 ]
This unit plays CDs and has bluetooth connectivity for use with your smartphone. You can answer calls and be easily heard using the external microphone. This Pioneer unit also connects to many different iPod models through the USB port on the front panel. [ Michael  Dec 20, 2016 ]

You cannot wire two 4 Ohm speakers in parallel on any of the stereo's channels as that would present a 2 Ohm final load to the channel. It can work if the second pair of speakers are tweeters but, the better option for that would be to use component speakers which come with the separate tweeters and still present a 4 Ohm final load. Thanks for your question. I'm sorry no. The selected receiver does not have satellite radio capability. You can find this information on the main product page "Details" tab under "Expandability". Hope this helps. [ Kenny  Mar 04, 2017 ]  Staff
According to page 19 of the owner's manual (there's a link to the PDF on this page), there is a wired remote input, but you would need to purchase a hard wired remote control adapter to use it. I think this is also the input that would be used if you want to maintain steering wheel controls with your new stereo. Hope this helps! [ Jared  Mar 02, 2017 ]
    Yes [ Brian  Mar 02, 2017 ]
Yes, but it takes MUCH longer than other OEM Bluetooth stereos I've used. This stereo takes about 20-40 seconds to connect. [ Eric  Feb 21, 2017 ]
You will have to pair the phone and radio when first installed. After that the phone will automatically connect to Radio. [ Laura  Feb 21, 2017 ]
    Yes. Perfectly. [ John  Feb 21, 2017 ]
If by marine you mean designed for use on a boat, pretty sure its not. It'll work of course, but don't expect for long when exposed to the elements. [ Tim  Feb 07, 2017 ]
All of the marine stereos are here https://www.crutchfield.com/g_215950/Marine-Radio.html?tp=61742&pg=1 [ TylerG  Feb 05, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. Yes it does. The Pioneer DEH-X6900BT in-dash CD receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired. Hope this helps. Yes! I confirmed that it will play audio files in order designated by file or chapter number. I tested with two differently named sets of audio books with the track/chapter/file number preceding or following the file names. It plays music albums the same way. [ Justin  Jan 04, 2017 ]

Yes, it comes with a wired microphone. Microphone placement it key, but everyone I've talked to says that it's pretty clear & and they're able to hear me well. [ Alastair  Dec 15, 2016 ]
Yes, it does. It comes with a rather long cable and a clip. I clip the microphone to the visor in the car. [ Kyle  Dec 13, 2016 ]
Yes it did. Suncoast Sound who installed my stereo ran it from the back of my stereo underneath my dash to the trim on top of my windshield, all of the way to beside my sunvisor. I drive a 2006 Ford F 150 and It's fairly big but They had enough length on the mike cord to make it. You should be able to make it in your Jeep too. Good luck!! [ Melba  Dec 13, 2016 ]
    yes [ Randy  Dec 12, 2016 ]
Yes, it comes with a microphone that plugs into the back of the head unit. The microphone has a clip to fasten to your sun visor, but I found I was able to use the clip to fasten the mic to the edge of my headliner close to the rear view mirror. The microphone works great and has very good clarity. [ Gene  Dec 12, 2016 ]
Yes it does. It's a wired mic that you will need to pull through the radio opening from the back BEFORE you put it in the slot. Very easy to do, there's plenty of wire to run it wherever you want ... just need to roll up the excess wire and secure it somewhere out of the way. Also, the "mount" for the mic has an adhesive so you can attach where you want. I put mine right on top of the steering column and works great. People said it sounds very clear on other end. [ Tim  Dec 12, 2016 ]
Yes it does you just have to put it the from dash so they could hear you clearly [ Cary  Dec 12, 2016 ]
    Yes it does. [ Ernest  Dec 12, 2016 ]

    I only connect my 1 phone so I wouldn't know [ Ernest  Dec 12, 2016 ]
I have run into the same issue. Disabling Bluetooth on the "inactive" phone seems to be the only workaround. A search on the internet comes up with people with the same challenge. Let us know if you find a real answer to this issue... [ Alastair  Nov 01, 2016 ]
