Have it all

You know how sometimes you just can't make up your mind? Read a book? Watch some TV? Listen to a favorite album? Choosing what you want to listen to in the car is like that for me. That's why I appreciate the Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS CD receiver. This supremely capable receiver puts just about every option you can think of at your fingertips, with great smartphone integration, Bluetooth®, HD Radio™, a satellite radio option, and more.

Pandora®, Spotify, and much more

Connect your iPhone®, or Android™ to the USB input, and you're ready to dive into your favorite feeds on Pandora or Spotify. And of course you can access your playlists with the Pioneer's controls too. If you're into high-fidelity, spin your favorite CDs, or enjoy FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files you've loaded onto a USB thumb drive. Want more options? You can listen to any audio source on your phone via Bluetooth audio streaming. And Pioneer's ARC app offers smartphone control over many receiver functions.

This Pioneer works with an optional tuner (not included) to let you tune into the many delights of SiriusXM satellite radio (subscription required). SiriusXM offers over 165 channels of programming choices — news, talk, music, and more. And the crystal-clear sound of SiriusXM will follow you wherever you roam, coast to coast throughout the lower 48 states.

Don't forget radio — HD Radio

The immediacy and local orientation of radio are still a potent combination. If you enjoy your local news programming and DJs, the sound of local stations that broadcast an HD Radio signal can't be beat. And many of these stations broadcast secondary channels too, so you've got more listening options.

Built-in Bluetooth® and Siri Eyes Free, too

The DEH-X7800BHS offers the convenience and safety you expect with built-in Bluetooth connectivity — you can answer phone calls with the push of a button, and keep your eyes on the road. Plus this Pioneer supports two paired phones at once, so other drivers in your family can enjoy the advantages too.

Got an iPhone with Siri®? This Pioneer supports Siri Eyes Free with your iPhone through Bluetooth, which means you can ask Siri to make calls, select and play music, compose and hear text messages, read notifications, even use maps and get directions — all commanded by your voice.

Wow factor display

For an extra kick, turn on Pioneer's MIXTRAX feature when you're listening to the music stored on your iPhone or Android. MIXTRAX adds a light show to your favorite playlists, as the receiver's bright multi-colored display pulses in time with your music. And MIXTRAX fades in and out of each song just like a DJ would, adding special effects and keeping the musical energy high. Even when you're not using MIXTRAX, you'll enjoy the color combinations you can create with the separate display and button illumination options.

Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS

You'll enjoy Bluetooth, HD Radio, and more with the DEH-X7800BHS

Sonic satisfaction

Whatever you're listening to, tailor the soundscape with the 13-band EQ, complete with seven preset EQ curves. The three pairs of preamp outputs let you build a rocking system with external amps and subwoofers.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

For the price you really can't beat this unit, You can sync up your phone and receive calls or you can stream your music with little know how, And later on if you so choose, you can add an XM tuner to make it the ultimate little radio. The tuner itself is fairly inexpensive to add features to your radio. I really think this one is a great deal.

Along with the factory wiring harness adapter, this stereo was easy to install and enjoy. The menus for customizing the audio output and the display are fairly straightforward and intuitive. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase and would recommend to others.

Pros: Display is clear/easy to read

Cons: Instruction manual could use more detail on some of the available features. Not a showstopper, but could be better.

I am extremely happy with this purchase and especially with this company. Shipping was lightning fast to "Alaska"! The installation was about as painless as possible thanks to vehicle specific harness adapter and easy to follow instructions. Only had to refer to manual one time to identify 4 wires and everything worked out perfectly. The stereo itself is beyond my expectations for the money. Crutchfield is on top of their game do not hesitate dealing with them. My install was to a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 and it looks great and sounds better!

I love this deck and pretty much everything about it except for two things. First, the volume knob could be a little more aggressive, meaning a little less turning for a more dramatic impact on volume would be nice. Secondly, it is impossible to read in daylight with the top down on my Miata. Literally impossible. Had I known this, I would likely have looked for something with a brighter display, even at a higher price point. Aside from those things, this deck is awesome and does what I want and pretty efficiently.

    Disapointing display brightness

Barry from Southern Pnes, NC on 9/2/2018

    Verified customer (What's this?)
    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I expected more out of this unit. The most glaring issue I have found is not being able to see the display in the daytime. It just isn't bright enough. Night time is fine. Soundwise I may need to program the unit differently to better suit my needs and may not be the unit's fault as there are plenty of different ways to program it. Upgrading my speakers from the factory units should help a lot.

    Pros: Progamability

Cons: Can't see the display in the daytime.

Did not fit well in my 04 Titan truck. I use the RCA to go to an amp. This design did not work well for me. Steel bar did not allow a good fit. If using the head unit amp, without RCA it would have fit well.

    Verified customer (What's this?)
    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is a very nice deck at a competitive price. I only gave it three stars as the display in sunlight is simply awful. (After decades of building car stereos I can't understand why Pioneer engineers can't figure out how to correct this problem) The features of the deck are great. I really like the HD radio unit as he reception and clarity of the broadcast is GREAT. The CD operates smoothly and I like the Bluetooth operation for my IPhones. The deck also drives my speakers with ease and provides a nice improvement over the factory unit. I also am finding that I use the remote for quick operation of the deck. It would rate a 5 star if the display in sunlight wasn't so poor.

Pros: 1) Great features 2) The HD radio is great 3) CD player is very smooth 4) Provides good power to driv e speakers 5) Bluetooth works very well 6) Nice to have front USB input

Cons: 1)Display in sunlight is very poor 2) User manual was a little difficult to follow for some of the operations.

I was simply looking for bluetooth/auxiliary/usb and was able to get it all with this stereo. I already had a stereo system previously installed in 06 Accord. I was able to keep the same system due to the inputs this stereo has in the back. Just plug and play. I also included a SiriusXM Tuner.

Installation went smoothly with the Crutchfield harness and 1-1/2 Din adaptor. I love the individual buttons for the channel presets. This makes it very easy to use. Reception and sound quality are excellent. The display is clear but the distinct LED dots for the numbers/lettering is a bit retro for my taste and not as clear as it could be. The users manual is hard to understand. Lots of diagrams but not enough clear written instructions. I have not been able to get the Bluetooth to work correctly with my two Samsung S7 phones.

Can't see the readout if there is the slightest bit of sun. Even with the brightness on the highest level it's nearly impossible to read the screen. Control buttons are really small. Unless you are only changing radio stations it almost seems dangerous to use while driving because it requires you to really take your eyes off the road. I'm surprised it got so many 5 star reviews. I actually liked the factory stereo I replaced better. The only advantage this has over it is HD radio.

    Pros: Good price

Cons: Can't see the readout if there is the slightest bit of sun. Even with the brightness on the highest level it's nearly impossible to read the screen. Control buttons are really small. Unless you are only changing radio stations it almost seems dangerous to use while driving because it requires you to really take your eyes off the road. I'm surprised it got so many 5 star reviews.

I hadn't purchased a car stereo in 15 years...so I was delighted Crutchfield was still the industry experts. I chose Pioneer because that is what I am familiar with and I specifically chose this unit for the HD Radio. I haven't made it through all the settings yet but like there is an app so I can make changes from my phone instead of the head unit menues. Overall, very happy with the quality and how it sounds.

Great head unit. I love being able to adjust the lights and tweak the sound via an app instead of digging through the deck's menu system. Gets plenty loud for my truck. Like many other stereos, it starts playing the alphabetical first song of your phone's media when connected. My workaround is to add a 9 minute silent song titled "a... hello." My only other complaint is that the volume knob is smooth, and a little too slippery. I added a silicone ring around it, and can adjust the volume with one one finger now.

Pros: Sounds great, lots of connection options, and the app makes customizing the deck easy.

    Cons: Volume knob is smooth/slippery.

Nice looking unit. Sound is pretty good. Fair with the stock speakers in the back deck, way better with some Alpine 6x9s (an older mid-low end pair that I had left over.) The stock front speakers sound really good with this (component speakers but nothing special.) Plan to swap those for a set of Polk 6" that I have laying around, will see how that goes. Menu is not really quick or intuitive to navigate. I'd like different options for the display menu (spectrum analyzer vs clock vs source, etc.) The menu uses some really stupid abbreviations that aren't even in the manual - needed to look them up online. Bluetooth connection to phone works pretty well. Multiple connection to other devices was a little more problematic (Ipod nano via BT and and old Touch via BT - seemed to have trouble recognizing one after paired with another, even when the other was switched off.) I ended up clearing the memory and starting over. Similar problems with multiple hard connection via USB. Maybe it'll take some experimenting to get it smoothed out. The display brightness can be set independently for headlights on/headlights off, so that's cool. Reception is good and I really like the HD. If you do any broadcast listening, HD sounds way better and many stations have more than one channel available on the same frequency (D1, D2, D3). Plenty of power with it's own internal amp for my needs - may be adding a 4 channel amp, but maybe not necessary, even with the planned speaker upgrade

Pros: sound, appearance, HD, lots of connection options

    Cons: user interface/menu, display options

Very nice CD receiver. I put this in a Dodge P/U because I was limited on space and since it's not my daily driver didn't want too extravagant. It has many great features, but I wanted it mainly for the cell phone interface so I could make and take calls through it. It has a good powerful sound and can be EQ'd to sound just like I want it to. Well worth the money.

Pros: Many options for sound control and lighting Built in amp sounds great Great phone interface and Bluetooth

Great deck for the money. Plug n play install on my Jeep XJ with included kit. Good volume/power and just the features I want. If you want to be picky, the buttons could have been raised higher for a more distinct feel. Rado reception could be a tad better and there is a delay linking digital stations. Over air radio kinda blows anyhow. BT works great! As does ph mic. It's mounted on dash, just left of deck. The EQ adjustment is from 50-12.5k. I suppose a little higher frequency could have been better, but my ears and 2ways probably couldn't tell anyhow.

Pros: Feaurues on a budget Ample power Pioneer quality Easy install(harness & Metra DIn surround included)

so the interface is a little clunky... but this thing sounds great as a front end to my bose amp an speakers in my Miata. I chose this since I had decided to not go overboard with double din and dvd and the works. My only complaint is that it is a little fiddly (is that a word?) to get things like a set display color vs the default of it just scrolling through all the colors. Being older, I wanted a set color to make it easier to see, most car stereos I believe are aimed for a younger customer! that being said, since I elected not to replace everything, this pioneer is doing a great job and sounds much improved over the bose that came std in my 07 Miata GT. It fit the space perfectly (expected since I used crutchfield to narrow my choices to units that would fit.) It comes with a wireless remote but since I also added the axxess adapter to add support for my steering wheel controls, I doubt I will ever need it. If I could give this 4.99 stars I really would since the issues I had picking the colors and other minor settings were setup issues and not day to day stuff. The steering wheel controls work as expected and seem as responsive as the originals! My only other complain is that unlike the double din pioneer I stuck in my truck... this supports Pandora but does not allow Pandora to be chosen from the source selector... you have to select it on your phone.

Pros: HD radio support, Pandora support, fits 07' Miata perfectly ; sounds great when paired with the factory Bose amp and speakers. A Miata is not the best sound stage for a radio to shine... but this one does!

Cons: Settings are a little fiddly , Pandora is supported but not as a src selection, must be started on the connected phone.

Great functionality for the price, very happy with this receiver. A few little quirks I wouldn't expect to be in a higher priced unit, but then again maybe they would. They all stem from the settings and scrolling through the menus, and cycling through sources. But most importantly, this delivers much better sound and multiple options to connect to my phone.

Cons: Almost too many options and clunky to cycle through them.

A nice upgrade from my old 2003 Pioneer DEH-P350. This stereo is in my 1986 Ford LN-700 dump truck; it is mounted above the windshield in the factory radio housing on the ceiling...away from direct sunlight. I have dark tinted windows at 5% and tint strips across the top & bottom of the windshield; my truck cab is darker than most vehicles. I read other peoples reviews about the display being hard to read during the day and I thought it would not apply to me because of how dark my cab is, I was wrong; It is hard to read the display during the day and yet I have to turn the brightness down at night because it's too bright. I don't think the brightness is the issue, rather, I think it's the type of plastic they used because my old Pioneer DEH-P350 was dimmer than this unit and I could read it just fine during the day and I never had to dim it at night. Anyway, I love it but I come from the dark ages of CD & radio only, no Bluetooth, XM, HD Radio, USB slot; I couldn't even play the CD loudly because the Bass hit so hard it would cause the unit to skip the CD. The manual is a bit vague on what certain settings mean or what they do; I'm still learning how to set it all up because I have two amplifiers, four 6X9's, two 12" subs and two tweeters, the tweeters are powered by the deck. So far as I can tell, my Bass has not caused the CD player to skip so that's a huge plus for me. My System: All Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bdCP. T600-4. P3D2-12 X 2. T1693 x 4 (6X9). T2T-S X 2.

Pros: Looks, Features, Sound quality, Sound adjustments, The Phone features & microphone make my Plantronics headset obsolete, Microphone, Remote, All features. Pioneer packed a lot of features in this single DIN. I like it and I'm picky.

Cons: The display is hard to read in non-direct daylight but being a commercial truck driver I have to keep my eyes on the road anyway; like my old stereo, I memorize what buttons to push and don't look at it. Manual lacks explanation of certain features. I still give it 5 star review though.

It's been 1 week and I have no complaints. The amp & eq actually make the stock speakers in my 1990 Mustang sound better. It's easier to navigate through than my wife's Sony. It is hard to read the display during the day. My bigger problem is the mediocre FM radio reception. I should have checked this more carefully, I figured that by now all radios would have figured out how to do radio reception. The 2003 Subaru standard issue head has far better FM signal reception than this unit. Price is right and it sounds good when the radio picks up the station. Installation was OK.

Pros: Bluetooth for phone and for spotify.

I'm baffled by the high ratings this product received. The display is not usable in normal daylight. Not only is it too dim, it uses large blocks to form letters, an odd engineering choice, that makes it difficult to read the display, especially when the text is scrolling. After taking the inside of my car apart a second time and trying a second unit, I went to a Sony MEX-GS810BH, and it is working out well.

Pros: There was a lot to like about the unit, but the display is a deal breaker.

Cons: Emergency notifications are not audible and create a distraction hazard. Bluetooth performance was spotty; sometimes I couldn't access functions on my Nexus through the receiver, even though it was connected. Display can't be seen in daylight.

This unit was replacing an OEM unit in a 1987 Mercedes so looks were important. I didn't want something that looked like a Juke Box (Sony). Looked long and hard at a Clarion and Kenwood, but the Pioneer won out. I liked the number of sourcing options that it presented as well as its looks. I found an amber display color that complements the dash lighting. Everything including CDs and Satellite are available as sources. I purchased a Sirius receiver also. Installation was a breeze with the wiring harness and instructions included. Although the radio box in the dash of the MB W126 is tight with the XM receiver and all the wiring. Now of course, the inadequacy of my OEM speakers are limiting the system. Going to be calling Crutchfield again soon!

Pros: Looks compliment old school dash- Tons of sourcing options- HD Radio-CDs- Satellite.

Cons: Same complaints about visibility in daylight and confusing controls- need to spend some time learning the controls- not intuitive.

With a MUCH improved manual of instructions, the electronics would get 5 stars. Besides being written by a "personal injury lawyer" like nearly everything else today, the "detailed instructions" for setting ANYTHING require over 4 selections to get the desired selection on the hopelessly difficult to read screen. The default out of the box flashes, changes colors and that only further complicates a simple radio replacement scheme. The LED digital display should be replaced by a high resolution cellphone of Garmin GPS type screen. Screen characters made of light points went OUT with HP calculators of the 1970's. There are fine electronics inside the chassis, BUT ACCESSING the radio's functions is a nightmare of button selections not clearing explained in the VERY WEAK manual. How about a QUICK START GUIDE reviewed by verified consumer installers. This Pioneer model's display looks just like the Sony, Kenwood, and others available at Crutchfield. Some manufacturer must provide a more cellphone like screen in a single DIN configuration. That would be leadership.

Pros: Wow! what flexibility! Almost too much, nice small unit, no excess cables on the back of the unit like the Jensen I tried first, but interfered with the gear shift! Fit my tight dash well for a X308 Jaguar body. (1998-2003 XJ8/XJR)

Cons: Can't we get a cellphone like display?? The led dot displays are unbelievably DIFFICULT to read in the daylight, and dependent on abbreviations, and acronyms that are NOT user friendly. An LCD screen would solve that problem.

Very good product, easy installation. The fit kit that came with it was wrong, for a different model jeep but I reused my old one. Replaced a very nice jvc unit because it didn't have Bluetooth capabilities. I currently have two pioneer Bluetooth receivers in other vehicles so went with this one. I thought this would be as easy to use as my other ones. I can play a CD and tune to fm and plug my smart phone in and play my music or Pandora, but, can't pair phone yet and it's so ridiculous ly complicated to set up,hence 4 stars. I'm sure I can figure it out, if I devote the hrs..... I'll let my ten yr old do it, I don't have the time. Does it sound better than the Bongiovi acoustics jvc? No, but someday my phone will work through it.

As others have noted, the display is overpowered when it is sunny. I also have intermittent problems with the sound cutting out for a second or three every ten seconds or so. So far, I am able to get it to work normally again by turning it off and then on, though a few times I had to turn the car off and then on. Otherwise, it works just fine, sounds better than my original radio (this is in a Prius) and I really like the HD radio. Installing it went fine after I called Crutchfield for guidance. The instructions that come with both the radio and the other installation stuff are terrible.

After review of many units, I settled on this Pioneer unit. I installed it in an hour. it is a easy to use full featured deck providing all of the connectivity I had requested and set up in my "Crutchfield Filters". The Bluetooth connection has been flawless...Still surprises me when the phone rings through the stereo (only had it for 2 weeks so far). When I ask the caller on the other end how the voice quality is, they reply perfect. Besides all the features the unit comes with, the radio was also important. I wanted a unit that was easy to use and clearly labeled, I am very happy with the controls of this system. Also the sound and reception quality have been excellent. Very pleased with my decision

Love the stereo. It took a little extra work/correct accessories to install, but the sound, HD radio and BT make it great. Switching between multiple BT devices was a little confusing at first, but all-in-all it's a great stereo. I recommend the turquoise color for all-day/night visibility. It seems to be the best and is easily readable any time of day (at least in our car).

Pros: BT works well Microphone is good Installation was relatively uncomplicated

Cons: Not easiest display to see in the day -- but use Turquoise and it's fine

I bought this unit because it, theoretically, had everything I wanted: front USB, CD/AM/FM, Aux, detachable face place and Bluetooth. The unit worked exceptionally well in all areas except the one that was my biggest deal breaker: the Bluetooth. It was glitchy from the start, taking a minimum of two tries to sync to the phone, it was constantly dropping the signal, forcing another round of multiple attempts to get it to connect, and it absolutely, positively would not work with incoming calls. It would pick up the call, but zero audio could be heard on either end of the line. This was NOT an issue with the phone, as the phone connects perfectly to no less than four other BT units--and I even got a new phone (unrelated to the stereo), which still didn't play well with the Pioneer. I got in touch with Crutchfield tech support, and they gave me instructions for a firmware upgrade, which really only improved the connectivity problems by about half--but did nothing for the phone call problem. I'd finally had enough and asked Crutchfield to exchange it for a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X301. The Kenwood has worked flawlessly from day one.

Pros: Everything but the Bluetooth and the dim display.

Cons: The Bluetooth and the dim display.

I love Pioneer products, they are consistent, good quality aftermarket stereos. This is the second one I have bought, with which I replaced my 07' Pontiac Solstice factory radio ( which was horrible) with this great radio. The instructions from Crutchfield were good, the instructions from the aftermarket steering wheel control interface were lacking and I had to online searches for some additional help, ( I did contact Crutchfield's tech support and they were great too). All in all, I'm very pleased with the results and even with the OEM speakers, the sound quality has improved dramatically from the original head. Now I'll have to decide what speakers to use in a convertible sports car that will sound great with the top down.

Pros: Great radio with supreme sound without the huge price tag.

Cons: Can't see the display well or if at all when the tops down. The menu on the radio is overly complicated and could stand to be made simpler with a GUI.

Has done everything I wanted so far and my 23 year old BMW sounds better than new. Installation was very easy with the included Metra 70-8590 harness and be sure to spend a couple of extra bucks on the Posi-Products connectors as they worked great! Some of the reviews mentioned Bluetooth connectivity issues but so far (3 weeks) my Moto G3 phone has connected every time and none of my calls have dropped. Hopefully this will continue. The menu takes a little time to get comfortable with but that's certainly not a deal breaker. I would have given 5 stars if the display could be made brighter. When I talked to Pioneer's tech support they suggested trying different colors and this did help a bit but I'm having a tough time getting used to turquoise when everything else in the car is amber. I love the HD radio and those stations sound amazing. I also had no trouble playing Spotify wirelessly from my phone. Haven't tried Pandora yet but I'm confident it will work great. Connection of my old iPod Classic via USB worked like a charm also so overall I am very pleased and may buy another one for my 13 year old Yukon. I've almost talked myself into 5 stars but the dim display annoys me ...... final answer: 4.5 stars.

Pros: HD radio is wonderful, connectivity to my devices was simple, installation was easier than expected, accessories that Crutchfield included "no charge" made for a very positive experience

    Cons: dim display

So far works great in my 1998 BMW 328i. Easy install, just had to find a few youtube videos to help, but the accessories that came with it were perfect i.e. (antenna adapter, and wiring harnesses) Main reason i purchased from crutchfield vs www.soundelectronix.com is because crutchfield was shipping the stereo faster but after further research crutchfield also provided the accessories for free. Would i purchase from crutchfield again? Of course, to be honest my brother in-law wants to buy the same stereo and crutchfield is where we will buy it.

Pros: *Proved that my stock stereo was bad and not my speakers (almost bought new ones. *Bluetooth connectivity is fast and no disconnecting issues. *All parts crutchfield recommended that i would need to install stereo were perfect. *Phone calls via Blue Tooth are crystal clear.

Cons: *Microphone that comes with stereo, some stereos don't need the microphone to work but the wiring in your car can be a hassle. (***IMPORTANT NOTE, INSTALL MICROPHONE TO UTILIZE THE PHONE CALL OPTION VIA YOUR STEREO) *Illumination isn't that great, me personally i use the white to try to help but during the day it may be difficult at times even though my car has tinted windows at times its troublesome to see the stereo.

The DEH-X7800-BHS gave me everything I wanted and then some. The install was a snap and a compliment to my old Ford pickup, looks great too! Crutchfields CS was great for input during selection. The only suggestion I would make is this deck has a detachable face. I've always been a fan of Pioneer, and this recent purchase did not disappoint! With a built in EQ and crossover, the sound and loudness is amazing. The "setting" menus are easy to navigate but very thorough with what they allow you to configure. The illumination and color choices are very cool, allowing you to use 2 different colors for the display. I purchased this specifically for it's HD radio and bluetooth features and those work great. The microphone was very easy to install and clip on to the roof panel with the included clip, and phone calls are very clear.

Nice unit, fairly straight forward to use. Only reason for 4 stars is that It's slightly complicated to scroll through menu options, though once you set it up, it doesn't take much tweaking. The HD Radio seems to work okay, but the stock radio had a better overall tuner. The BT functions and USB are great! Hooked up to an ipod it sounds amazing! This is an excellent radio. The sound on the radio is great. The Arc app from Pioneer is a lifesaver without it I would not be able to control my radio in the daylight. I would give the radio five stars but the screen can't be seen in sunlight. Another problem is if you do download the Arc app for android read the instructions for the app because even though you have an android phone in order for the app to pair with your phone you have to set the bluetooth to iphone it is in the apps instructions. I would have given it five stars but the sunlight issue and the unintuitive app brought it down a star.

Pros: Great sound. Easy to use. The app is very easy to use and makes the radio usable with sunlight.

Cons: Sunlight makes the screen impossible to read. read the instructions in the apps help section or you may never pair the app with your radio.

Great starter deck for a solid price. I don't know much about radios/head units whatever these are called, but I eventually figured it all out. I went with the Crutchfield suggested install parts (DIN mount, adapter to keep chimes, antenna, etc) and it worked pretty well. Some of the steps were obvious, others were not so much but a little googling got me there. As far as the receiver itself goes, it's great. Bluetooth works great with my iPhone 5s just like I hoped, its got a slick interface for making a receiving calls if you're mostly calling favorites or recents like I do. The addition of an aux jack and USB port are great. Phones charge slow, but whatever. Usually when I drive I'm either needing it to maintain a charge or I'm driving far enough it works out. Like some other reviews have stated, the biggest con to this receiver that I've found is the brightness of the display. Even at it's brightest, it's hard to see in the South Florida sun, doubly so with sunglasses on or any kind of glare in the cab of my truck. The best solution I've found is to make the LCD display White and the buttons Blue, which seems to be the best contrast in my particular vehicle. Even then, some of the buttons aren't as bright as I would like during the day. At night everything works excellent.

Pros: Easy Bluetooth Aux and USB

    Cons: Dim Display

This is a great replacement for my double DIN stereo that came with my Subaru, but had many issues. This sounds good (OEM speakers, no amp) and has all the features I want for the price. I use bluetooth a lot and various apps, and it syncs fine every time I get in the car (unlike my old stereo). I like the Pandora mode, and that I can thumbs up or down tracks on the head unit, and change stations (works with offline mode for Pandora One, BTW). The HD radio works as expected, as does the CD player. I love that it will play FLAC files on USB. Bluetooth for the phone works just fine as well. But I have a complaint that's kind of a big deal. Where I live we get a lot of sunlight, and even with the brightness turned all the way up this just isn't bright enough. I have to take off my sunglasses to even have a chance at reading the display, even then it's tough. I also have to set the colors to white, some of the other colors are even more dim. Another minor complaint is that the ARC android app doesn't work well. Even when my phone is connected correctly via bluetooth, when I try to pull up the ARC app it just says connection failed. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, it's worked a few times, but maybe like 10% of the times I've tried. It wouldn't make a big difference, except that seems like the easiest (maybe only?) way of modifying the EQ settings. Plus, recently the ARC app has just started randomly playing files that are on my phone, which is a bit odd.

Pros: Bluetooth audio and phone, HD radio, CD Player, FLAC on USB, Pandora and Spotify apps all work great

Cons: Not bright enough! Problematic connection to app

Came with everything I needed to install except the wire nuts! I installed it with a phillip screwdriver and a long nose pliers into a 2004 Dodge intrepid within 30 minutes. What could be easier? Quick delivery even during the Christmas crunch. One last note, don't let the specified 14 watts fool you. It outputs just as much juice as the other decks in it's class. It's just that it uses the more conservative ( and accurate) CEA2006 standard.

Pros: Easy to use. Great features. Really like the clear BT pairing instructions.

Cons: Display can be brighter. Hasn't really been a problem. I stick to brighter color schemes. MP3 CDs can be a bit slow to load and navigate, even song to song.

Great receiver! I purchased this for my son's 18th birthday and we had some father/son time (with an assist from my daughter's boyfriend) installing it in his 2005 Ram. I wanted him to have Bluetooth for phone calls as well as for the music on his iPhone. He loves it! Minor issue: the display is a bit tough to read in bright light. We actually followed the instructions and were listening to music in about an hour! The instructions were clear and the wiring harness and the adapter plate that mates the receiver to the dash were perfect. The sound, even though we're still using the factory speakers, is much better than before. This is the second receiver I've purchased from Crutchfield. The first was for my daughter's Mini Cooper. Folks, do yourself a favor, just go with Crutchfield. For the money I spent on this set-up and it came with everything needed for a professional installation. One caveat...when I purchased the first unit the Crutchfield rep suggested I buy a set of the pry tools (the basic blue Bojo set) and some sweet Posi-Products wiring connectors - you might need a different size - confirm by calling Crutchfield) to ensure a good job. I took his advice and used the tools again for this latest project. Plus, I've used the pry tools for changing out bad lamps in the dashboards of a few vehicles. I don't usually take the time to write reviews but I have been so favorably impressed with Crutchfield I had to do it.

Pros: Great product. Exemplary customer service from Crutchfield! Came with harness and dash adapter. Perfect!

Cons: Very minor issue...a bit tough to see the display in bright light.

Great value for a quality product from one of the biggest names in trusted car audio! I have been using the Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS for a few weeks now and I love it! It replaced the stock Infinity branded CD/Tape that comes in Jeep Grand Cherokees. This deck has loads of versatility and features, which is nice for customizing anything from your speaker setup to EQ frequencies, to crossover points and gains for your speakers. The only thing that I wish Pioneer included in the box is a sleeve for the faceplate! On the features front, I love the changeable colors of the display, however, I wish it got a little brighter! The display is pretty hard to see in sunlight, whether you have sunglasses on or have a car with tinted windows or a sunroof with a sunshade, it doesn't really help. Other than that this is a beast of a deck at a great price.

I bought this radio a bit unsure of if the RMS watts were adequate without an amplifier. Upon installation, it sounds great and has plenty of volume for my needs. Installation was fairly simple with the kit from Crutchfield and the wire connectors bought separately were a lifesaver. Hands free calling works great with the mic clipped to the visor and the screen is plenty bright after adjusting some settings. My only complaint right now is trying to switch between which Bluetooth device should be connected. If I am in the vehicle, it defaults to me, and if my wife is in the vehicle without me, it connects to her phone. However if we both are in the vehicle I have not yet figured out how to make it connect to hers and not mine. That normally is not a problem as I almost always am the one driving but I wish it was more simple, but perhaps I need to read the manual a bit more. Overall I love the stereo.

Bought this for my daughter's 1998 Volvo V70 after the factory radio died. I wanted her to have a stereo that was a) easy to use; b) not distracting and c) would have Bluetooth so she could play her music through the stereo and also hear turn-by-turn directions from her iPhone's navigation apps. This Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS was the best price by far! I was originally looking at stereos in a big box electronics store, where the installers tried to tell me that the only stereo they could install in the Volvo was a Kenwood because they still included the "cage" for the head unit, which they said was required to properly install in the Volvo. Their cheapest Kenwood was twice the price of this Pioneer, with fewer features, and would be almost as much for them to install. When they said the earliest they could install was 3 weeks out, I decided to take a chance and DIY it with Crutchfield. I'd heard of Crutchfield's reputation but had never bought anything from them. What finally sold me on this Pioneer vs. other stereos was that it supported Spotify, which is our family's music app of choice. The stereo and (free) install kit with harness arrived the next day, and I had ordered on a Sunday afternoon! The included step-by-step instructions were very helpful, the harness was a perfect fit, and the install kit provided for a very custom & professional-looking installation. Took less than an afternoon, and that included my artfully hiding the included microphone cable behind the dash trim.

Pros: Great price & value. Easy install. Spotify compatibility. One-button call & "Hey Siri." Amazing Crutchfield customer service (seriously).

Cons: Could do without the "disco light" animations

My first time to swap out a car stereo. Just never needed to until now. I've got some experience building computers and doing basic electrical work, so I already had the tools. I chose to order from Crutchfield because I was pretty sure that I'd get everything I needed to do the job (which I did) and that I'd have support if needed (I haven't yet). I chose this model because I still had the stock unit in my old Chevy Silverado and all it did was play radio and CDs. Now I can play anything I need through my phone or USB drive. I can also talk hands free, which is now required by local law to talk on the phone while driving. HD radio sounds great. While it took a while to get use to the menus, everything sounds great. I'm very pleased with this purchase and am happy to finally have some basic tech features in my 16 year old truck. Wish I would have done this upgrade years ago.

Bought this unit for my wife for Christmas since her stock stereo quit. Added the new service where Crutchfield connected the wires for an extra 20 bucks. The easiest installation I ever experienced. In 15 minutes it was up and running. The trim included storage under the unit for this 2006 Ford Focus so it was a bonus. The unit sounds great with the stock speakers and includes HD radio, Pandora, Spotify, Bluetooth phone and other cool features. There are custom eq modes you can create as well. Of course it is much better than stock and better than the Jensen I replaced. I am used to my cadillac bluetooth so I know I am biased. The bluetooth works great. I am just now, after about 4 weeks learning to seek a radio channel. It is not as simple as pushing one button. I don't like that as I don't won't to spend too much time seeking a station while driving. The radio is considerably more complex than I anticipated. I must admit I have not used a replacement radio in years so naturally the technology has changed. It does sound good and I can't wait to hear it with better speakers as they suggested some polk speakers. I will update this as I learn more.

Pros: bluetooth is quick to pair, Sounds good.

Cons: changing radio station is unnecessarily difficult to me.

I installed this unit into a 1998 Toyota Camry, perfect fit and easy install with the Crutchfield recommended harnesses, accessories and instructions. I was surprised at how many features this radio has, endless possibilities. As I enter my car now, it automatically connects to my iPhone via Bluetooth and begins playing the playlist where I left off last (regardless of using Pandora, iTunes, or Amazon Music). Love that it picks up HD radio without any additional antennae needed. Also, I appreciated how many options I had to adjust the sound of each individual speaker in my car. Great product, slightly complicated interface which is the only reason for fewer than 5 stars. I would definitely purchase this again. So much versatility with so many features for a reasonable cost.

Pros: So many options! Pandora, Spotify, Bluetooth, HD radio. Easy and automatic phone connection via Bluetooth. Great colors, tons of ways to tweak the sound to your specifications.

Cons: The UI isn't exactly intuitive and the app has limited functionality. All I'm saying is I had to read the manual as opposed to just being able to figure it out like many electronics.

Original Honda OEM radio finally died, no audio comes out of it even though the buttons work. I did some minimal research on what I wanted for my next radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth phone integration, cost, 1DIN, CD tray, USB port. The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS fit those criteria. Installation was straight forward, and the wiring harness I got saved me from having to splice vehicle wires. Audio is crisp and there is a ton of options to play with.

Pros: Cost is reasonable compared to a new OEM radio FM HD stations offer a crisp sound. Integration with phone via bluetooth works even when the radio is "in off" mode (see cons for this)

Cons: Bluetooth integration has caveats I did not anticipate: #1 Once the phone pairs with the radio only phone call audio will override the radio mode of operation. #2 Audio from phone, including GPS navigation, text reading while driving, etc will not be heard unless in BT Audio mode. Blue/white cable with taped label is a radio signal booster. I left it alone and the radio could not receive decent signal. Connect to the blue wire from the harness. Thank you Crutchield tech support!

More input options that you know what to do with and a similar number of output options. Feature wise, this radio is overflowing, but that's also it's downfall. There are too many options for me. I will probably never utilize even half of them. There are a few quirks that maybe I'll get used to but as of right now, not so much. The display in any kind of sunlight is pretty much unreadable. I'd read reviews on this but figured with the right display color it wouldn't be an issue. Wrong. Source selection - So many sources but if I only use 3, I don't want to have to page through every one. Give me the option to disable all the ones except what I want to use. Do I really need a separate "source" for BT audio, Spotify, Pandora, iPod when they are all coming from the same device that's connected through bluetooth? No, you don't. Just adds unneeded complexity. I did have the unit become unresponsive on me one day. It wouldn't connect to my phone so I decided to listen to radio. When I switched the source to radio, It was just continually scanning AM stations (I've never listened to AM on this unit). No buttons would respond. Only way to fix it was to detach the faceplate and reat

Pros: Audio quality Hands free calling sounds great on both sides Feature list is huge Endless adjustment options. Pioneer ARC app is pretty cool when you get it connected.

Cons: Endless adjustment options (yes both a pro and con)Source selection search is an effort in patience Display readability on sunny days is horrible Faceplate removal isn't trivial, it seems to not want to completely let go with out some forceful shoving.

I replaced the OEM Infinity radio with this much more modern and capable radio. It has all the features I was looking for: IPhone controls, USB, Bluetooth and Aux input. The old Infinity had none of these features. The sound is very good, even with the original OEM speakers. This is the perfect upgrade to my OEM radio.

Pros: Feature rich. easily configured. great sound.

    Cons: None

    Good radio, easy to install.

Pros: It's all good. Bluetooth works well. Can rip CD's to lossless music files (WAV, Flac or WMA. you can also do MP3), copy to micro sd cards, buy a usb adapter and have hundreds of cd quality micro chips and thousands of songs with you at all times. Not as convenient as an iPod (Because you have to change chips) but much better quality sound than that cheesey 128 kbs crap iTunes does. I have my entire Led Zeppelin catalog on a 32 Gig chip, CD quality and over 25 albums

Cons: Face plate can be tricky to pop out

For the money, you get a TON of features some of the similarly priced units lack. Unfortunately I have yet to use some of those features, but they I intend to for most of them. Sound quality is good for the old speakers in my car, brought at least a little more life into them than the last stereo (but they need replaced). Ease of use is where this (but admittedly most car stereos) fails, as the controls aren't always obvious and can be tricky to get how you want (the manual explains how to pair a second phone, but in practice it has yet to go as smoothly as it sounds. I got it to work, but not consistently). I'm not entirely sure what "coolness factor" is supposed to mean, if that includes the color changing face and mixtrax feature, then I suppose it's cool. I don't really use them, I stick to one color to match the car interior lights and haven't found use for mixtrax (but I hear it works well). Overall, compared to some of the units for $20-30 less, this comes with all of the same features plus a bunch of unique ones that stood out to me, so it was worth the extra few $$ to future proof my needs.

Pros: Sounds great, iPhone settings work great once you figure them out (hint: the back button changes between "Audio" and "iPod" modes which change how Up Next works in Music), fairly easy to use

Cons: Tricky interface to learn sometimes, a few areas weren't obvious even after reading the manual. While I can control most settings through my phone (change tracks etc), volume is not one of them (which is a pain because I have an aftermarket steering wheel control via bluetooth to my phone and volume shows a change on the phone but doesn't do anything to the stereo). Most of these aren't deal breakers, but would be nice to have fixed

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 3.0: The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (ver. 3.0), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit.  In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS.

Multi-Device Pairing w/ Dual Phone Connection: Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this receiver. You are even able to keep two Bluetooth-enabled phones connected at the same time, so you can make and receive calls from either phone through the head unit. You can only stream music from one phone at a time; you will be able switch between the two phones in the head unit's menu. Additional pairing features include -

    • SSP (Simple Secure Pairing: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DEH-X7800BHS without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings (your phone must also support SSP).
    • USB Pairing for iPhone: You can also pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) by simply connecting it to the Pioneer head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.
    • Guest Mode: "Guest Mode" allows you to add and replace a 3rd mobile device instantly to the receiver; Guest Mode is a great feature for a family vehicle with multiple drivers or a driver with multiple devices because it allows users to pair and delete devices easily without a lengthy registration or deletion process.

Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The DEH-X7800BHS supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. And, thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the DEH-X7800BHS provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The DEH-X7800BHS allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the DEH-X7800BHS, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book from the head unit, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically.
    • Presets: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
    • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.
    • Voice Dialing (Siri & Google Voice): When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or later via Bluetooth, the Pioneer head unit has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. It also supports Google Voice for select Android smartphones (not compatible with Samsung "S Voice"). You'll be able to dial a phone number or contact via voice command.
Note: The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of many aftermarket or factory radios. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. The microphone measures 0.475" (diameter) x 1.445" (depth). The unit is not equipped with an integrated microphone.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Advanced Music Navigation): The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the DEH-X7800BHS lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4+ phones only). The head unit will also display your music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (app must also support). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

Siri Eyes-Free Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth (not USB), the Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press and hold head unit's phone key to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the DEH-X7800BHS and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit's front-panel LCD will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Pioneer CD receiver; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device)..

    Android & iPhone Integration

Android Direct Connect via USB: The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS enables playback of stored music and music apps on select Android devices through its front-panel USB port. There are two types of modes to choose from based on your type of Android smartphone and what content you want to listen to.

    • AOA 2.0 (Stored Music & Music Apps): The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets  you connect your Android smartphone (OS 4.1-7.1.2) to the DEH-X7800BHS's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and select music apps from your Android device through the Pioneer receiver. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; you'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • MTP (Stored Music w/ Song/Artist Info): The DEH-X7800BHS also supports MTP for playback & control of stored MP3/WMA music files on your Android (OS 4.0+) device through the Pioneer receiver's front-panel USB port. In this mode, you get basic playback control (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track), plus song/artist information on the receiver's LCD screen. During MTP connection, you cannot use your Android smartphone's touchscreen to control music playback and you cannot select music apps from your smartphone for playback. However, you can continue to listen to stored music on your Android smartphone through the head unit while you check your Calendar, Facebook, Texts, etc on your phone.
Note: You will need to setup Android connectivity within the head unit's menu. Select "Memory" for MTP mode and "App Control" for AOA 2.0 mode.

iPod Direct Connect via USB: The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS supports audio playback of stored music & music apps on your Apple iPod/iPhone, along with control and song/artist information display through its front-panel USB port. If you have a newer iPod/iPhone with the Lightning-connector, you can use Pioneer's Lightning-to-USB cable (130CDIU52, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the DEH-X7800BHS. If you have an older iPod/iPhone with a 30-pin dock connector, you can use the dock connector-to-USB cable that comes with your Apple device or a 3rd party dock connector-to-USB cable (sold separately) to connect your iPod/iPhone to the DEH-X7800BHS. You can choose to operate your iPod/iPhone through the head unit's front-panel controls, from its clickwheel/touchscreen, or via a streamed app from your iPhone.

    • Head Unit: From the head unit, you can browse your iPod/iPhone's music library by Artist, Album, Song, Genre, Playlist, Composer, Podcast, or Audiobook. Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically. In addition, the head unit offers Link Play, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Play lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre. You can also select Random & Repeat functions for a certain song or specific folder. The head unit will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music file information; including Track number, Elapsed playing time, and Song/Artist/Album name. Apple devices w/ iOS 6.0+ will stay unlocked, so you can access music apps; other iPod/iPhone device's clickwheel or touchscreen will be locked during this mode.
    • iPod/iPhone: In iPod mode, you can navigate the stored music on your iPod/iPhone from its clickwheel or touchscreen, while still being able to view song/artist information and control basic playback functions from the head unit. You will not be able to browse your iPod/iPhone's music by category from the head unit or use Link Play in this mode.
    • Apps: App mode lets you listen to your favorite music apps from your iPhone (iOS 5.0+) through the Pioneer head unit and your vehicle's speakers. Once you have selected the music app from your iPhone, you'll be able to listen to music from that app through the Pioneer head unit, view song/artist information on the head unit's LCD, and operate basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from the head unit's front-panel control. Not all apps will be compatible with App Mode.

Media App Control (for Android & iPhone): The Media App Control mode lets you listen to your favorite music apps on your Bluetooth-paired Android smartphone (2.3+) or USB-connected iPhone (iOS 5.0+) through the Pioneer head unit and your vehicle's speakers. Media App Control lets you take control of compatible music apps on your compatible Android or iPhone device through the Pioneer MVH-X370BT. Media App Control allows you to play, pause, and change tracks from a compatible music app directly from the controls on the Pioneer head unit. The app's name (i.e. "iHeartAuto"), station identification, and song/artist information will be displayed on the head unit's LCD screen (when applicable, depending on app). Compatible music apps include:

      • TuneStart: TuneStart automatically start songs from the beginning when you tune to one of your preset music channels stored on the current band of presets.
      • TuneScan: TuneScan lets you scan through short previews of songs you may have missed on music channels stored on the current band of presets.
      • TuneMix: Create a music channel that's a blend of songs made up from the music channels stored on the current band of presets.
    • Parental Control: The SiriusXM Parental Control feature allows you to control access to channels that you consider inappropriate for younger listeners. When enabled, The Parental Control feature requires you to enter a 4-digit passcode to tune to the locked channels.
Note: A separate SiriusXM Satellite Radio subscription is required (operates on the XM Network). However, you can easily add this SiriusXM tuner to an existing Sirius or XM account for a Multi-Radio Discount Plan.

HD Radio: The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS's built-in HD Radio tuner lets you listen to the radio with the same fidelity as your digital music. HD Radio features high quality audio, FM multi-casting, and data services. With HD Radio, your FM stations offer near CD-quality sound, AM stations provide FM-like sound, and there is crystal-clear reception with no audio distortion. Best of all, HD Radio is 100% subscription free. The unit's tuner also supports analog AM/FM broadcasts.

    • Multicasting: In addition to conventional broadcasts, with HD Radio broadcasting it is possible to choose from up to 3 multicast programs (HD1 to HD3, and analog). There are also data programs for each program.
    • Station Text + RDS: AM/FM digital stations can offer text and data such as artist names and song titles. For analog FM stations, the Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as song/artist information when listening to compatible RDS FM stations.
    • Supertuner IIID: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.
    • Reception Blending: If a digital broadcast reception condition gets poor, this unit automatically switches to the analog broadcast of the same frequency level. If this function is set to "On", the tuner switches between digital broadcast and analog broadcast automatically. If this function is 'Off', reception will be conducted within an analog broadcast.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest analog or HD stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.
    • Emergency Alerts: Emergency Alerts work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Alert Services to provide more advanced messaging during emergencies or disasters. Providing relevant local content, particularly in times of severe weather or other natural emergencies make HD Radio's Emergency Alerts feature an invaluable resource.
    • iTunes Tagging: It is possible to save the song's information (tag) from a HD Radio or RDS FM broadcasting station to your USB-direct connected iPod/iPhone. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store.

Note: HD Radio is the system for digital AM and FM broadcasting in the U.S. More than 2,000 radio stations are broadcasting their primary signals in digital HD Radio technology, as a free service. Go to www.hdradio.com to check for HD Radio stations in your area.

    Audio & DSP Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X7800BHS is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels
Note: The power specifications for the DEH-X7800BHS are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

2V/6CH Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS features three pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS lets you adjust the subwoofer preamp output's phase (normal/reverse) and volume (+10 to -24).

Crossovers: The DEH-X7800BHS employs high-pass and low-pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speaker setup.

    • Standard: Allows you to set the high-pass and low-pass crossover network for a standard Front, Rear, and Subwoofer speaker setup using either speaker-level or low-level outputs.
      • HPF: The head unit's -6 to -24dB/octave high pass filter only allows frequencies higher than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200Hz) to your front and rear speakers through the unit's speaker-level or line-level outputs.
      • LPF: The subwoofer preamp output features an -6 to -24dB/octave low pass filter so only frequencies lower than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200Hz) are output to your connected subwoofer.
    • Network: Allows you to set the high-pass and low-pass crossover network for a complex 3-way speaker system with Highs, Mids, and Sub using low-level outputs only.
      • Highs: The high-pass crossover for your tweeters can be set to 1.25, 1.6, 2, 2.5, 3.15, 4, 5, 6.3, 8, 10, or 12.5 kHz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.
      • Mids: You can set a high-pass and low-pass crossover from your midrange/midbass drivers. The high-pass crossover can be set to 1.25, 1.6, 2, 2.5, 3.15, 4, 5, 6.3, 8, 10, or 12.5 kHz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off. The low-pass crossover can be set to 26, 31.5, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, or 250 Hz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.
      • Lows: The low-pass crossover for your subwoofers can be set to 26, 31.5, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, or 250 Hz with a -6 to -36dB/octave roll-off.

EEQ (Easy EQ) w/ 13-Band Graphic EQ: There are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2. The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 13-band graphic equalizer (50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 1.25k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k, and 12.5k Hz).

Audio Settings: The head unit provides further sound adjustments for your car audio system.

    • Listening Position & Time Alignment: For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right, or Front. You can also select to manually fine tune the sound stage, using Digital Time Alignment (DTA) by selecting the distance (0-200") for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position.
    • Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When the Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Advanced Sound Retriever effect.
    • Bass Boost: You can easily boost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost feature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6 (12dB).
    • Loudness: The Loudness function compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-frequency ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness to High, Mid, Low, or Off.
    • Speaker Level: You can adjust each speaker and sub channel independently from +10 to -24 to best even out the sound in your vehicle.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the unit's FM volume level, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.
    • Auto Level: This function automatically corrects the audio level difference between the music files and/or the sources.

Rear Speaker Setup: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 3 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPod/iPhone, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone, and is not supported by USB MTP devices. The Advanced Sound Retriever function is disabled when MIXTRAX is activated.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X7800BHS in-dash CD receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 12 preset colors, customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors.

Brightness Control: You can manually adjust the brightness (1-10) of the head unit's display to suit your viewing needs. You can also sync the receiver's illumination to the head units' clock or your vehicle's headlights. To dim the receiver's display automatically when the vehicle's headlights are turned on, you'll need to hardwire the orange/white wire of the head unit's harness to your vehicle's parking light circuit.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose different patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music.

Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

    Remote Control

Advanced Remote Control App (for Apple iOS & Android): Download the Pioneer ARC (Advanced Remote Control) App onto your Apple iOS (8.0+) or Android (4.1+) device to turn your smartphone or tablet device into a remote control for the Pioneer head unit. • Song/Artist Info + Album Art: The Pioneer Advanced Remote Control App provides song/artist information with album art for the music stored on your Apple iOS or Android device. You also get station identification for AM/FM radio; if an AM/FM station supports RDS, you will even get song/artist info.
    • Favorites: The app lets you quickly display radio stations saved as favorites, plus favorite songs in your Apple iOS or Android device's music library. From the Favorite screen, you also get access to contacts saved as "favorites" on your smartphone.
    • Select Apps: From the Pioneer ARC app, you can also pick from select music apps (like Pandora, iHeart, Spotify, TuneIn) that are installed on your Apple iOS or Android device. Once you select a specific music app, that particular music app opens on your mobile device for playback control.
Note: If you switch to other applications and functions, such as using other iOS device or Android applications or placing calls from your smartphone, you must restart the Pioneer ARC app on your iOS device or Android device.

Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X7800BHS comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause playback, skip music tracks, change display info, and answer/end Bluetooth phone call. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

Pioneer seems to have good ratings. Going to try this in a Honda Element. Almost all factory sound is garbage; considering factory add-on cost. [ Dan  Dec 13, 2016 ]

I searched for a long time to narrow down to this particular unit. Here are the reasons why, and hopefully after I have it installed I can come back and provide feedback on how it worked out: 1 - most important to me - The Bluetooth hands free can handle multiple phones connected at one time 2 - Adjustable colors and intensity. 3 - controllable via iPhone app 4 - I still want to use CDs 5 - HD radio should be nice to have 6 - I don't need auto EQ/TA 7 - Pioneers reputation [ William  Nov 28, 2016 ]

Almost identical features as Pioneer's 8800 version but with only one USB port in front and back (the 8800 has two). I don't need the extra. Pioneer has always provided me with great quality products. [ Dan  Oct 24, 2016 ]
