About the Panasonic SA-HE70
Dolby® Digital and DTS® home theater sources deliver spine-tingling realism and high-impact, deep bass that keeps you riveted to the on-screen action. With built-in decoding for both formats, the SA-HE70 is your super-affordable ticket to all the fun and excitement! The decoding versatility doesn't stop there, though this receiver also includes Dolby Pro Logic II processing, which can transform Dolby Surround and stereo sources into realistic 5.1-channel sound.
You get 3 inputs for digital sources like DVD and CD, plus plenty of analog inputs for your VCR, TV sound, cassette deck, and more. You can also expect powerful, seamless surround sound thanks to 100 watts for each of your five home theater speakers. Six audio soundfields let you liven up your favorite music. If you make a mistake that affects the normal operation of the unit, or if the unit stops producing output, the help function can be used to solve the problem by scrolling possible remedies for the situation on the display.
Surround Modes: This receiver incorporates a wide variety of surround modes to bring you maximum enjoyment from your audio and video software. The surround modes include:

Dynamic Range Compression: This feature reduces dynamic range for night listening. The dynamic range compression feature may be set to "off", "standard" or "max", and it only works with Dolby Digital software.
Multichannel Input: Although this unit features built-in Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS processing, it also has a 5.1 multichannel input for use with external multichannel decoders.
Automatic Presetting Function: The automatic presetting function allows you to push one button and have the strongest radio stations automatically entered into preset memory. When the automatic presetting function is used for the FM band, stations are memorized under presets 1-30. If the automatic presetting function is used for the AM band, stations are memorized under presets 21-30 (if FM stations were memorized in preset numbers 21-30, they will be replaced by AM stations).
Dimmer: The display may be set for full brightness, or it may be dimmed to a factory preset level.
Multibrand Remote: The supplied remote is pre-coded to control this unit and Panasonic CD players, cassette players, DVD players, VCRs, and televisions. In addition, the remote can control other brands of TVs, VCRs and DVD players.
Headphones: The receiver has a standard headphone output on the front panel.
DVD/DVD 6 CH Input: The Audio/Video input labeled "DVD/DVD 6 CH" combines the DVD analog input with the multi-channel input for an external decoder. If you are connecting a DVD player using the stereo analog inputs, you should use the Front Left and Right RCA jacks of this input. If you are connecting an external 5.1-channel decoder or a DVD player with built-in Dolby Digital (and/or DTS) decoding, you should use all 6 RCA jacks (Front L+R, Surround L+R, Center and Subwoofer). In addition to the 6 audio input jacks, there are composite and S-video jacks.
