smell
trey from Roswell, GA on 8/14/2020
Thoroughly unimpressed with this sub. I am running 2 of these in my 2019 Jeep JL. I bought one solo and one came in a JL stealthbox. Powered using the amp a Crutchfield rep recommended I buy, and anytime I get above approx 50% power, I start to smell the subs. I assume this is the voice coils melting/ burning/ dying. Spent $2k on my setup and can't get it to the volume I would expect without the smell. The amp is the Rockford TM750X1bd. Which would show clipping if i was and i'm definitely not at the volume in question. I am assuming I will kill these two subs within 6 months will be out the $ for them and be looking for 2 new ones.

Cons: smell

I installed this sub combined with a alpine pdv-75 amp in my 17 tundra double cab. when deciding on all the components I wanted I wasn't sure if a single 10" would be enough. well this is more than enough.

Awesome JL performance
John from Ruston, LA on 5/4/2018
I just replaced a JBL that had blown. I have a behind the truck seat box with about 1.3cu ft space. This JL audio is rated for I believe .65 cu ft. I added extra poly fill and it sounds great. Better than the old sub ever did. I'm very happy with the JL and probably will never buy any other brand now.

Huge bang for the buck

Wow. Very clean and efficient subwoofer. I attached it to what I thought was a conservative amp and BOOM... clean, physical, thumping bass. Highly recommend this subwoofer.
Pros: Very clean, super efficient. Great sound.
Cons: Not quite the "drop in" fit for my Cadillac DTS I was hoping for, but its the only sub indicated for that space. Not an issue with the speaker itself.

Terrific Value
Manuel from California on 1/3/2018
This speaker is very reliable and outperformed another flat 10" that just died 8 months into action. This was a surprise to get that much bass out of .42 cubic feet sealed enclosure! Passengers cannot believe the side panel location is very well hidden until the music plays. This will be a great addition to any level of audio quality you are looking for.
Pros: Reliable, very well assembled and JL Audio reputation products can't go wrong.
Cons: Didn't get this one first instead of other shallow sub.

It sounds awesome.
Jason from Las Cruces, NM on 12/24/2017
Very remarkable sub. Excellent job JL. I replaced n older cheap sub with the JL 10TW1-2. And WOW, I had turn the sub levels down. It is as advertised. I would highly recommend the JL 10TW1-2. It's worth it.
Pros: It and the box fits behind the backseat of a crew cab Silverado. Handles a variety of low frequencies. It hits hard.
Cons: Had to modify the inside of the box a bit to fit, but not a big issue.

Great bass from small space
Michael from Chattanooga, TN on 5/7/2017
I have a '17 Toyota Tacoma. Replaced the factory 6x9 in front door, 6.5 in rear, and dash tweets. Added amplifier to factory head unit. Still missing bass. It's a lease vehicle so I didn't want to hack away at it, and wanted to put a subwoofer in one of the TINY little pockets behind the rear seats, while still having access to child seat anchors. My requirements; 1) limited enclosure volume, 2) limited depth, 3) limited front clearance, 4) needed 2 ohm of dual 4 ohm voice coils, 5) must sound musical and have extended bass, not just poppy mid-bass you hear in many small enclosures. My research led me to JL 10TW1-2. I always knew JL had reputation for quality products, but it was more than I had ever spent on a sub. So I tried another (cheaper) driver from another brand, and it just didn't fit. I built 3 enclosures before I landed on one I liked (3rd). The volume is precisely what is required (.35 ft3) plus the driver offset. There was a depth limitation that I didn't take into account even on the 3rd gen when building with .75 MDF...the basket diameter is very large in the rear..like just smaller than the cutout. Luckily the driver requires no space vent behind, so a ground and filed away the small amount needed in just the right places so the driver clears. So how does it sound? It sounds very good, very musical, not whompy or boomy. It's hard to believe out the quality bass of that tiny little enclosure, better suited for many 8" drivers. I am please
Pros: 1) Very small enclosure requirement, 2) Limited (but not shallow) depth 3) Includes integral grill 4) Driver is recesses in basket to minimize front clearance needs 5) Very musical and has extended bass from VERY small enclosure
Cons: 1) The basket is large at the rear, take special care when measuring depth clearance as the basket is nearly as wide as the mounting hole at the rear.

Subtle rumble or feel it thump
Jeff from Loveland, CO on 4/24/2017
10TW1-02 update. Still thumping. Added the Rux Gain Adjustment knob. Now it can have very subtle rumble at volume 1, or shake the mirrors at 25. Garth's thunder rolls is awesome, and then Pounding dubstep with the kids.
Pros: Infectious smiles Wife likes Barbershop even more now
Cons: Do not think there are any. Worth every penny spent.

Wow, This think thumps and in a .4 cub foot box is all. Huge sound from Tiny box
Pros: Tiny box demands, huge sound, shakes the mirrors and makes the neighbors look at you.
Cons: Makes me want to take long, long road trips more often now.

Perfect solution! Deep, clean BASS out of a tiny space.... love it!!!
Ben from Boise, ID on 6/1/2016
There is very little space available for a subwoofer(s) in the RAM Crew cab, I fiberglassed the passenger side underseat pocket and had a PG SX slim 10" in there - sounded OK but just would not play deep enough, there is only about .47 ft3 of airspace available. When I saw the airspace requirement on this sub I figured it was worth the gamble - it is deeper (just under 5") but depth was not my issue, total airspace was. The sub fits perfect, plays clean and deep, typical JL build quality, worth it, 100%!! (Running of an older Alpine 5 channel PDX amp, just over 300 watts RMS to sub)
Pros: Minimal airspace requirements!!!!! JL build quality.
Cons: none, this sub is purpose built to fit a need

upgrade!!!
P.H.L. from port townsend, WA on 3/9/2016
I was replacing a traditional behind seat truck box with this JL sub. sound quality is not even in the same sport let alone ball park.. So yes it is an upgrade.. The depth and range is impressive, especially for something that requires so little box volume. I powered the sub with a jl 4 channel amp, front speakers are powered by the front and the rear channels are bridged to the sub. Its a healthy amount of power considering its just the cab of a pickup but I dont know if I was ready for how much this sub sounded closer to a 12. But again Im in a 2dr pickup standard cab. The staff at Crutchfield was very helpful and knowledgable. I went back and forth and they walked me through the process.
Pros: depth/range of sound, grill included, worth the money
Cons: it wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for!

Jl audio sub
Mike from Manchester Tn on 2/7/2016
Replaced an cheap alpine 10 with this one. Bass is so much more controlled. Sounds great for what it is. I wasn't looking to shake my fillings loose. Powering it with alpine mrp-m500.
Pros: Works in very small enclosure
Cons: Jl audio is pricey
