Powerful performance
The 1-1/4" treated-silk dome tweeter really hits the high notes, while the true 2-way crossover ensures that the woofer and tweeter work in perfect concert. You'll hear all the details of your music, even when the throttle is forward and you're skimming over the waves. You don't have to worry about mounting the crossovers, either, because they're attached to the speaker frames.
These big, beefy coaxial speakers offer a huge performance advantage over conventional 6.5" marine speakers and even JL's already-impressive 7.7" models. The bass performance is so impressive that you might not even need a subwoofer to pump out serious low-frequency thump. But if you do use a subwoofer, you'll hear vastly better dynamics and mid-bass impact. If you want seriously rich, full sound on your boat, these speakers, combined with a subwoofer, are a great choice.

Features
Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine speakers are tested in ultraviolet chambers to simulate years of sun exposure, and salt fog chambers to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments.
Woofers: The woofer cones are mica-filled injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) with UV inhibitors and synthetic rubber surrounds. The precisely engineered dust cap profiles help smooth the upper-end response. Each woofer uses a marine-grade synthetic fiber spider with a progressive roll design and a vented motor structure with a marine grade stainless steel rear diffuser plate.
DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. The DMA-optimized long-excursion design enhances output, bass extension and power handling of the speaker.
Tweeters: Each speaker features a bridge mounted 1¼" silk dome tweeter with a specially formulated treatment to withstand the marine environment. The tweeters use neodymium magnets for higher efficiency levels and is Ferrofluid-cooled and damped for improved response and power handling capabilities.
Crossover: The JL audio marine speakers utilize a true 2-way crossover network with 2nd order low-pass and 3rd order high-pass circuits. The crossover network also features a polyswitch solid-state tweeter protection circuit. The crossover is built into the terminal assembly to protect it from vibration and corrosion.
Polymer Basket And Grille: The baskets and grilles are UV-resistant polymer. The baskets encapsulate the woofers' motor systems to prevent corrosion.
Infinite-Baffle Operation: The speakers are optimized for infinite-baffle operation so they can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure.
Power Handling: JL Audio recommends two RMS power figures for this model; 125 watts RMS continuous power handling and 50-250 recommended amplifier power. We've listed the more conservative 50-125 watts RMS range in the specs table.

originally tried a pr of m3-650, these are 10 times better! i have a seadoo jetboat with twin 2 strokes so i needed something loud. paired with a 300 watt amplifier and a fusion ms-ra70 sounds excellent. big jl audio and Crutchfield fan now, they have a wonderful staff, thanks Crutchfield!
