JL Audio Built In USA

The JL Audio Stealthbox® custom-fit subwoofer delivers incredible bass in a package that takes up minimal space and blends in with your vehicle's interior. JL Audio designs Stealthboxes to fit in specific vehicles, then loads them with appropriate subwoofers for optimal performance. Pair the system with an appropriate amp and wiring for stellar concealed bass.

Perfect sound to go with the perfect fit

JL Audio puts months of research and design into each Stealthbox® custom-fit subwoofer to ensure not only that it fits, but that it sounds better than any other custom enclosed system. First, JL Audio determines the ideal shape and mounting location for each enclosure, so that it looks like an original part of the vehicle it's designed for. Next, they mount each high-performance subwoofer so it delivers amazing firepower from within its unique enclosure, without sacrificing clarity or musical depth.

The fiberglass enclosure offers superior rigidity while allowing more interior volume, so the sub can turn out louder, deeper bass. JL Audio craftsmen then laminate, grind, join, and finish each Stealthbox® by hand. The end result: full-bodied, distortion-free bass from an impressively stealthy enclosure.

Enjoy enhanced, custom-fit sound

This Stealthbox® enclosure installs inside the front part of the center console in 2014-up Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Crew Cab trucks with front bucket seats and factory console. It includes one down-firing 10" TW1 2-ohm subwoofer from JL Audio. Please check with us before purchasing by using the vehicle selector on our site, or calling a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to verify fit information.

Q
I have a Stealthbox ordered for my 2018 GMC 2500. The truck comes with the Bose sounds system. Will I need an amp or even the audio controller in order for this to work? Thanks
[ JUSTIN  Oct 29, 2021 ]

A
Yes, you'll need you need an amp and a LC2i Pro to tie into your existing system. There is a company out there called LLJ Custom Car Audio that makes wiring harnesses that seamlessly tie into the factory system.
[ DENNIS  Nov 07, 2021 ]
A
For the money this box costs the sound / bass is very disappointing. You better throw an amp at it!
[ Michael  Nov 01, 2021 ]
A
From what i have read, you need an amp and a digital processor in order to work in tandem with the Bose system. I have a 2018 3500 Denali. I kept the Bose dash speakers and then I installed a 5 channel amp and the processor along with new Polk Audio db door speakers as well. I am very impressed with how it all turned out. Hope this helps. Enjoy

Q
What's? needed to add this speaker and an amp to a factory Bose system without replacing the radio?

Check out these folks at (LLJ CUSTOM CAR AUDIO) It is what I used in a 2016 Tahoe to avoid splicing wiring and voiding factory warranty. It's a high quality piece, and as always you get what you pay for .02¢
[ GREG  Sep 03, 2020 ]
A
I added a PAC AmpPRO AP4-GM61 Aftermarket Amplifier Interface to a 5 channel amp with an Alpine PXE-0850S with factory head unit retaining all factory features.
[ CHRISTOPHER  Sep 03, 2020 ]
Q
Does this enclosure have space to fit the recommended JL amplifier under the console?
[ KARL  Jul 31, 2020 ]
3 answers
A
None at all. Also better to install behind rear seat as the factory amp / connections are located there.
[ Joseph  Jul 31, 2020 ]
A
Personally I would not mount an amp where there is zero air flow an extra heat in that area from the drivetrain. Besides you will not have access to the amp. I would say NO but again that's my .02¢
[ GREG  Jul 31, 2020 ]
A
I mounted my amplifier on the back wall of the truck behind the back seats.
[ JIM  Jul 31, 2020 ]
Q
I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab and really interested in this set up. My dilemma is regarding the center console. My truck is equipped with the bench style seats (not the perminent center console) where the cup holder compartment is lifted up revealing the third front seat and underneath that seat is a locked compartment for storage. My question is if this stealthbox would still fit? I am unable to find any videos/articles regarding this style of silverado crew cab.
[ JOSHUA  Jun 04, 2020 ]
4 answers
A
It is built for the console and wouldn't work for a bench seat.
[ RAYMOND  Jun 09, 2020 ]
A
No it will not fit , I have similar set up and I had to install under back seat with some modification
[ SALVADOR  Jun 09, 2020 ]
A
This JL Stealth Box only fits 14-18 GM trucks with bucket seats and a center console. Will not fit split bench equipped trucks. However JL Audio offers a Stealth Box that fits under the rear seat of C/C trucks and let's you run 2 subs. Good Day
[ GREG  Jun 09, 2020 ]
A
Negative, it won't work. Do you keep your back seats down? If so, there are other options for underseat boxes, both single and double setups. If not, find a shop that will build you something either for the center console or behind the rear seats(real tight) and check out the forums for ideas.......best of luck ??

Q
I have an older but basically new Rockford Fosgate T400-2 amp. Will it be OK with this setup?
[ STEVEN BLAKE  Dec 31, 2019 ]
4 answers
A
Hi Blake, thank you for your question. The Rockford Fosgate T400-2 is able to supply 200 watts at 2ohm per channel. You could run the JL Audio Stealthbox to a single channel on the Rockford amplifier, which would supply the the JL sub with sufficient power. We do not recommend exceeding the stated RMS power ratings, so it would not be recommended to bridge the amp to power the JL subwoofer. Feel free to chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. Any member of our Advisor team will be happy to go over your setup, and make a personalized recommendation for your system.

I'm not comfortable going over the max watts than what the manufacturer rates it for. Don't have any specs on said amp. I'm using a matched JL 300w mono amp.
[ GREG  Jan 30, 2020 ]
A
sure just set the amp appropriately
[ Ronald  Jan 30, 2020 ]
A
Should be good. Perhaps a little under powered. Bridge it and tune it.
[ VICTOR  Jan 30, 2020 ]
Q
Do I need a special wire harness to install the stealth box?
[ DONALD  Aug 23, 2019 ]
5 answers
A
From what I recall the ports/connections are able to accept standard speaker wire. I do not believe you need any special harnesses. BTW I love this speaker....
[ VICTOR  Aug 27, 2019 ]
A
I purchased a plug and play harness from LLC. Didn't have to cut or splice any wires for the Amp signal from the factory radio and possibly void the vehicle warranty. Installed in a non Bose equipped 2018 Silverado.
[ GREG  Aug 24, 2019 ]
A
No, just a standard amp wiring kit.
[ Ronald  Aug 24, 2019 ]
A
No. Stealth box receives signal from your amp. For the amp you can splice into your speaker level inputs or order a plug & play harness to make things easier and avoid voiding your factory warranty. I ordered a plug and play harness from LLJ customs. Works great
[ Wesley  Aug 24, 2019 ]
A
The OEM wire is plenty long. I left a little length on the connector and cut it to keep with the factory box. Easy to reinstall if I ever want to.
[ BOBBY  Aug 24, 2019 ]
Q
Will the stealth box fit 2018 Chevy Silverado / Crew Cab ?
[ BMG  Apr 27, 2019 ]

A
Yes, as long as it has front bucket seats and floor console
[ BRETT  Apr 29, 2019 ]
A
I have a 2018 GMC 2500 HD with bucket seats and center console. This subwoofer replaces the stock Bose subwoofer that is located in the center console. If your configuration is the same it will fit. Also you will need and amplifier to power this subwoofer.
[ AARON J  Apr 27, 2019 ]
A
It fit a 2017 high country crew cab perfect. Had Bose system with like a 4" that comes out. Love it but it doesn't "hit" hard, just great bass. It does shake the back glass with a 300 punch amp .
[ Allen  Apr 27, 2019 ]
A
Yes I have an 18 Crew cab, it's tight but it did fit and worth every penny!
[ DEREK  Apr 27, 2019 ]
A
As long as you have an existing factory center console, then yes. Go to JL website to cross reference and double check.
[ VICTOR  Apr 27, 2019 ]
Q
I currently have a JL 500/1 amp. Will this be over kill for the sub? Or can I just turn the power down on the amp?
[ JOSHUA WAYNE  Sep 09, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
It's more than the woofer is rated to handle but can work provided you set the gain correctly (always recommended): https://www.crutchfield.com/learn/setting-amplifier-gain.html
[ Ryan  Sep 17, 2018 ]  Staff
Q
why wont it work in a double cab?
[ Lawrence  Apr 15, 2018 ]

Q
If you're just looking for a good interior sound (not mirror vibrating), is an amp necessary?
[ Willy  Mar 13, 2018 ]
2 answers
A
Even if you have the Bose package and are replacing an existing sub, this one would be under powered with that amp. You need an amp for it. You can always buy a volume control knob for the amp or an preamp in line one to turn it down
[ Cody  Mar 27, 2018 ]
A
Yes, the speaker will not respond well without enough power to operate properly. Just turn down the amp to your taste. I have a 300x1 and it doesn't shake the windows, it is just right to bring out the bass like the artists intended.
[ Allen  Mar 27, 2018 ]
Q
What amp would I need for this?
[ Avg24  Jan 13, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Is there an upgrade option for the subwoofer (i.e., upgrade the TW1 to a TW3)?
[ Brent  Nov 27, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
This box is only meant for the TW1 that's already loaded into it and wouldn't sound as good with any other subwoofer in it. However, we sometimes have other subwoofer boxes for vehicles. I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to check for other options. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
I have a LTZ 2014 Silverado. In the center console there is 2 cavities one that is under the removable cup holder. and the other in front of it. they extent 12 or so inches from the top of the console. will the JL sub fit with out alteration to the console. I can't imagine that it will fit will out modification?
[ NICHOLAS  Nov 14, 2017 ]
2 answers
A
It actually sits in front of that, below where the USB and car charger plugs are. I have a 2017 and it fits perfectly. The instructions it comes with are wrong. The console only has 6 screws to remove to be able to slide it back and you don't have to take off the side panels. You have two screws under the cup holders, two under the cover of the bottom of the console and 2 on the outside, back of the console, you'll see little screw covers you pop off to expose them.
[ MICHAEL  Nov 17, 2017 ]
A
The Stealthbox® installs inside forward-most portion of front center console, without affecting storage space or cup holders. You can view the installation manual on JL Audio's website here: http://mediacdn.jlaudio.com/media/mfg/9013/media_document/live_1/SB_GM_3GSLVCNSL_10TW1_MAN.pdf?1501165044

Q
where do u have to mount the amp? will the amp be stealth as well?
[ MICHAEL  Oct 03, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
I looked over the installation process for this box and seen that it doesn't have a spot for the amp. This means you will need to find a spot. If you can install it under one of the seats or some similar place, then it should be hidden and be stealth too. Some customers have installed it behind the seats on to the rear wall of the pickup too. Hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
