Needed a reputable sub amp with a small footprint. This thing definitely puts out (so to speak). Audiofrog GS8nd2 sounds great with this little guy, very clean and way more output than expected.
Pros: Small footprint, clean power, plenty of output.
Cons: Cost, 2 ohms minimum impedance.

JL Audio Rocks! MX500/1 with 12w3v3-4
Scott from Johnson City, TN on 8/5/2020
I had a 12w3v2-D6 from 2003 decommissioned in the basement after several different vehicles. The foam surround blew right off when putting a new JL MX500/1 to it! While bummed, I knew almost 20 years was too much to ask for foam surrounds. I replaced with newest version v3 - 4ohm and dropped it in my self-made ¾" MDF 1.07 cf sealed box - perfect fit even 17+ years later. Though slightly less cf than the 1.125 recommended in manual, absolutely amazing sound! Dr. Dre to Metallica to Van Morrison, smooth tight bass without over-done thumping. Crank the JL M-RBC-1 remote boost and it really hits! Running gain at 1/2, 80Hz low, 30Hz high - from marine Kicker head unit internal amp to 4 Kicker 6" coax speakers, 4ga power/ground from dual batteries in boat. On for over an hour at moderate volume produces very little heat. Although inconvenient to unscrew (tiny screws) bottom plate to adjust settings, really like the sealed layout of switches and the enclosed wires exiting the side - makes it ideal for wet applications. Reality is you'll spend a few hours tinkering with setup, then leave and rarely touch again. Hard to believe so much clean power from such small footprint - things have changed in 17 years! Loved my JL stuff then, but they are obviously still making awesome gear! Couldn't be happier!
Pros: very small footprint, low heat generation, completely sealed
Cons: All the dangling wires are much more difficult to make install look nice - but trade off is that those connections are outside the amp making water damage much less likely, an amp like this is likely not on display anyway

This unit was the exact dimensions needed for our boat. The previous owner had a four channel amp driving two speakers and a single sub with the other two channels bridged. Sounds much better at the low levels we use most.
Pros: Compact, high power, sounds great.
Cons: Must be dismounted to access all adjustments on underside of unit. Made in China.
