Product is great. Templet is not the right size. Mine didn't come with templet so I called number on instructions and they emailed me one. After looking at it and cutting it out the hole and screw holes nothing was the right size. The solution is to use the gasket that comes with it, which is the correct size but could be a little thicker to make a better seal.

Well made cover. It replaces a broken hinged cover that was a real pain from the beginning. The only down side is that it is a bit larger thus requiring enlarging the hole.

Nice unit. The only knock on it is the template for cutting the opening is the wrong size. Others have commented on the same thing. Not sure what the issue is with the manufacturer. Otherwise works well.

Ok in theory this is a great product for the price....but mine came broken. I ended up using epoxy to fix rather than send it back....and now it works perfectly.....but obviously that shouldn't have been necessary. Very easy to install and feels sturdy enough

High quality. Great appearance. Works very well with kenwood marine receiver. Door is spring loaded and slides open very smoothly.
Pros: High quality. Nice look. Open and close is slick.
Cons: Template for cut out is incorrect size. DON'T use it. I contacted company about issue. Sliding door needs lots of clearance to not get jammed. Trim around product does not allow for much wiggle room for cut out so take your time and carefully measure so cut out is not visable.

The product works well and the quality seems decent. But, it was odd that when I used the template provided to cut the hole, it didn't fit. I had to cut a bigger hole. (at least it wasn't too big!)

The product works and looks good once you get it installed. Like other reviews the cutting template is was way off. About 3/8" short in length and approx. 1/2" off for height, which of course throws off the holes. After getting that issue resolved, the install went easily and finished product looks and works well.

Good unit, bad template

See pro's and con's. That's where my review really is. Overall a good product but template is too small for the unit. Like they scaled it down at printing.
Pros: Looks great and works great! Seals in the stereo on my bike and the looks flow with my fairing.
Cons: Cutting template is not right at all. It's almost as if it was reduced when printed. Cuts were too small and holes marked for drilling were not right. Luckily I realized this once I cut the stereo opening per the template and the unit did not fit. It needs updating, because if you did follow it completely and not test fit after cutting, you'd end up having extra drill holes to mount it. That's not acceptable. Just glad I test fit it first. Be aware if you buy this some modification is necessary.

The product itself seems well built, but I didn't get to install it. The template that comes with it is scaled too small and therefore useless. The actual size hole required was too large to fit on my dash console.

I wasn't sure if this would work on my boat however I just had to open the space vacated by a Clarion receiver. It makes it simple to open the cover and close it compared to the original.
Pros: Smooth action when opening with a push of a button.
Cons: Having to cut a larger hole in the console. The cover disappears inside the console when opened.

Reading the description of this product makes one believe it is suitable for marine use which is incorrect. I replaced an older version faceplate cover with this one and within a sort period of time the sliding face of this product did not want to slide open smoothly. I had to clean a small amount of dust from the sliding tracks. That is a common occurrence yet not this product's major flaw. The biggest problem with this product involves it actually channeling water directly to the head unit it is suppose to be protecting. In the description it clearly states it has a foam gasket which apparently did not help keep water away from my expensive head unit. It took a five minute afternoon drizzle to put my Kenwood into some sort of flashing "protection" mode. I cut the power to the unit and allowed it to dry which the unit worked fine a day later. I used silicone to seal the back of this cover to the boat in order to keep the water out. No dice. The problem is the sliding face plate allowed water into the head unit. The next time I was out it rained again. This time there was not hope for the Kenwood. It no longer works because I trusted a product that claimed to be a marine product and clearly was not. The best use for this product does not involve an application where it

Cons: Head unit suffered water damage from rain. Flimsy sliding door that is stubborn and does not want to slide open unless it is super clean. Latch holding door down opens itself. Plastic got hair line scratches easily.

This is a really nice cover. Worth the price. Fit my stereo perfectly. Operates flawless. I really like the spring loaded front cover operation. Hoping to get a lot of years service out of it.

This cover works great, but throw away the template that they sent in the package. Take your own measurements and make the necessary hole cuts. You could imagine how frustrating it was to install with a outdated template!

the door springs are to weak ! door wont stay latched closed ! package missing template ! , had to make mine. door scratched out of package ! just a all around bummer, if i hadnt took so much time to install i would have sent back ! another inferior product as far as i am concerned .

Add bulk and no protection!

The smoky cover just flaps open with the slightest breeze of air...literally! What you end up with is a bulky frame around your exposed receiver. The latch mechanism is plastic and of poor quality... complete design flaw. The slightest vibration or touch opens the cover. Driving the boat down the road, on the water et al.... unless the vessel/vehicle is sitting absolutely still, will elicit such a response. this provides no protection whatsoever. I hope crutchfield will test this product and offer a better design. They also sent me a different model free of charge, it looks like it will stay closed more or less (Metra-99 cover...). Go with that one. Because now I'd have to drill new holes in my boat and caulk the old ones from this Scosche because the Metra is slightly less bulky.
