About the EFX Circuit Breaker

Resettable safety precaution

This EFX circuit breaker will protect your power wiring and your vehicle just as well as a fuse would. Even better, you can reset it when some temporary glitch triggers it off, instead of having to spend time and money getting a new fuse.

Security for your stereo

This circuit breaker will also let you disable your expensive audio system when you park, so no one can play with your gear when you leave your vehicle in an attended garage, use valet parking, or drop it off for detailing. This breaker works in 4- to 1/0-gauge wire applications and features binding posts that accept ring terminal connectors, like EFX crimp-on ring terminals. Toothed lock washers ensure good electrical conduction. Warranty: 1 year.

Features

Overview: The Scosche EFX CBM140 is a 140A circuit breaker for protecting your car stereo system, and your vehicle, from a dangerous short circuit. The circuit breaker is mounted in a high-temp Bakelite housing. Using a circuit breaker eliminates the need for constantly changing blown fuses. If a short circuit occurs, the circuit breaker will safely and instantly disconnect your electronics. A red lever will indicate that the circuit breaker has activated. To reset the breaker, simply return the lever to the normal position. A manual disconnect button is also included to allow you to manually break the circuit whenever you want. The base has two holes for mounting the circuit breaker with screws or wire ties.

Wire Connections: The CBM140 circuit breaker has two 1/4" x 7/16" long studs that will accept ring terminals with 1/4" inside diameter. Two 7/16" Keps nuts (nut with star washer) are included for securing the ring terminals. Rubber caps, tethered to the circuit breaker, are for covering the bolt to avoid accidental contact.

Q
How do you know what size to get?

A
Depends on how much current or amperage the amplifier will pull. Most amp manuals state what size fuse or circuit breaker is needed.
[ Chad  Aug 24, 2017 ]
A
Devide your total number of watts by 10 is a good way. For example 1000 watts devided by 10 would be 100. So a 100 amp breaker would be fine.
[ caleb young  Aug 23, 2017 ]
A
The amperage load that you are going to have you want to have wire and a breaker at the battery to handle it
[ Matthew  Aug 22, 2017 ]
A
Calculate expected load using this link, then buy a circuit breaker larger than that. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-cVN9SOSyQEE/learn/learningcenter/car/cable_gauge_chart.html
