Works really well. Replaced factory radio in 2006 Chrysler 300 base. Clean fit. Took me a couple minutes to understand how the side panels attach inside the face plate opening, but it's a good design. The face plate needs a tiny bit of top-to-bottom arch to fit perfectly. I installed mine in the summer, so it flexed in the heat.

Worked for the most part. With my deck, the face plate of the dash kit was too small to fit over deck from the front or the back. This created a situation where I could not use the snap-on front trim piece of the deck. There is a small gap around the deck, but not horrible. Using the trim on the deck would have gotten rid of the gap, but the deck would have been sitting out more and not looked flush as it does now. Overall easy to use and install, just fumbled a bit to try to get it to fit before going with the ultimate solution of not using the front trim of the deck.

This was the tough part! I had to guess how the radio was meant to go in; the provided mounting screws were too short. As a long time mechanic, I have a selection of hardware to pick through, which saved me a trip to the store. The face plate did not fit over the radio! I had to trim it by about an eighth inch to make it work. The part number on the faceplate did not match the number shown for that part in the instructions. Definitely not an "anyone can do it" kit.

So while the outer panel fills the hole in my dash, it was a major issue figuring out how to get it to properly match up to my new stereo. First, the written directions are nebulous at best. I then called the manufacturer. After a lengthy time on hold, I spoke with their rep. He wasn't well informed and offered to find a solution and call or email me back the next morning. No response. I called the Crutchfield tech folks next. They suggested ignoring the instructions and we came up with a way that should work. So far so good with the Crutchfield modification to the kit. Thanks, Crutchfield!

This product fit great in my Dodge Ram. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it was very difficult to install the included brackets on the face. It's a very tight fit and I ended up having to use pliers which can potentially damage the visible surface. I protected it while using the pliers.

Of everything I bought to redo the sound system in my truck,this is the only piece that was not of excellent quality. This kit feels cheap and not up to par with the rest of equipment I received. In the end it does work and the receiver looks great. I did have to do some work with a dremel tool to get the screws to grab hold and the face plate could fit better.

Having a free dash kit is very nice, Yet as given the opportunity to review, here are some of the issues. Kit had no instructions on how to put it together. Inspection was needed to figure out how to put together. Fit was tight. Plastic side supports thick enough had to purchase new screws. Included M5 head unit screws we're too short. Face trim did not fit well as stereo protruded out too far and could begin popping out at anytime. Seems secure once installed. When done looked very nice in stereo slot.

Cons: Difficult to put together. Tight fit and snap cover pieces don't work well.

Its not the worst, I suppose, but if I had to do the install of my radio again, I would look at the Metra kit. When actually attaching this to my radio, I had to fiddle with the plastic rails ... they don't attach to the face like I would have expected... its more of a press fit with the radio keeping the whole assembly together and the screws make sure the radio can't drop out. I was expecting the rails to be either snapped into the face or screws. It was more of 'align tab A to edge B' and friction keeps the parts together.

Worked really well for my needs. Just as solid as any other of these kinds of mounting brackets. The sides were labelled incorrectly. Either on the packaging or one the side pieces themselves. Ended up having to take it all apart and reinstall the side pieces as they were reversed. Other than that it does the job just fine.

I spent a lot of money at the local Big Box store and had them install a stereo in my husbands Dodge Ram and it looked terrible and was loose in the dash. I called Crutchfield and told him my problem. They recommended this product and it is perfect! Their instructions made it very easy, and only took about 15 minutes to remove the one installed by the local Big Box store and install this one. It is solid and looks like it is supposed to. Very good product and very good customer service.

Made a nice, professional looking install that's nice and neat but, you won't get to use the metal mounting sleeve and plastic trim piece that comes with your new radio because the install kit screws to the side of the radio so, your removal keys will be rendered useless. Which is fine, makes it less easier to steal. Lol. More difficult if you ever have to pull the radio out as you have to remove it the same way you would remove the factory radio.

Bought this item for my 2006 Jeep Commander and it worked great. Easy to configure and mated right up to my new aftermarket stereo. You do need to have some understanding of how it should mate up with the radio because instructions are only for this unit and not your stereo, but with a little patience it works just fine.

I used this trim with a Pioneer DEH-X6700BS receiver in my 07 Durango and it worked out fine. Took a little prodding to get the sleeve around the receiver but once that was done, the rest went just fine.

Installed this in my 06 Dodge Ram. Looked at other kits but this one seemed to have the best reviews. And sure enough it was a very easy install and a perfect fit. Received the kit sooner than expected also. Would definitely recommend!

2006 Jeep Commander
Installed in a 2006 Jeep Commander with the Axxera AV714BH stereo. I am not sure where the breakdown between the website and the actual product was but this didn't fit at all with the stereo. The website recommended this dash kit for my setup. The dash kit fits in the Jeep perfectly but the bezel around the dash kit was about 1/2 of an inch too small. I was able to make it work by cutting the dash kit with my Dremel tool. And since it wasn't too expensive and my dash was already taken apart I figured I would try cutting it. I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody installing the Axxera AV714BH. Unless you aren't afraid of cutting the plastic around the dash kit.
Pros: Cheap. Sturdy plastic.
Cons: Didn't work for the Axxera AV714BH stereo.

Perfect fit once I finangled with it a bit. Took some work and minor adjustments, but was able to make it work.
Pros: Instructions with the package was helpfull. Fee with the radio
Cons: the instructions didn't mention the two screw holding part of the dash together from below. Good thing I didn't yard on it until it broke and was smart enough to figure it out. The strerio had a hard time to fit at first, but was able to work it in without breaking it. Trim ring doesnt fit with this insert, but looks fine without it.

THis kit simply will not work with the Lightning Audio LA7000 receiver for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Unfortunately, this is the only kit offered by Crutchfield for my Jeep. I did not find out it didn't fit until after connecting all wires ahead of time,. and then trying to slide the radio into the installation kit. This review has as much to do with Crutchfield supplying a product that does not work as it does with the actual product itself. I had to purchase another kit from another store (Metra brand) in order to finish the install of my radio. The installation kit is supposed to be the easiest part. It turned into a 2 day scavenger hunt for a kit that worked.
Pros: It was free and came in a sealed package
Cons: Did not fit my single sin radio that was supplied to me by Crutchfield.

Not much to say; its a piece of plastic. Originally bought with a Kenwood KDC-BT752HD but after some modications and a few headaches I determined that this is just not going to fit this Kenwood head unit. I had Crutchfield send out a different kit but that was for a Grand Cherokee with Nav. So, I decided to return the Kenwood and go with the Alpine CDE-HD137BT. The Alpine unit fit perfectly, no struggles.
Pros: Looks good in Grand Cherokee

The receiver fits VERY tightly into the receiver kit and it wouldn't let the receiver slide all the way in so that I could use the screws to secure the receiver. Thankfully, I was replacing a cheapo aftermarket receiver that the previous owner of my truck had installed, so I was able to use the receiver kit that was already in my truck.
Pros: It was included free with the purchase of my new receiver. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it.
Cons: It is now in the trash...not in my truck.

This is a very well fitted dash kit for the truck. Easy install...to the truck. There is one major major flaw though. This is a four piece dash kit. Papers say to use all four pieces. But it is not possible whatsoever to use the rear "Iso" tabs since the head unit's install sleeve won't fit once they're in. Throw em away. That is not the flaw... once you mount the sleeve and slide your radio into it, it is 100% impossible to lock in the outer trim piece due to clearance issues with the head unit. I trimmed the contacting areas back with my utility knife aboutt 3/16" at each corner to make it so I could clip the two pieces together. Be careful if you do this, don't trim any deeper than 1/8" on the sides or it'll be visible from the outside. Done right,you'll never be able to see the it was ever messed with! It took me about 40 mins to carefully do it.
Pros: Looks great!
Cons: Not cast well at all, but fixable flaws.

I bought a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X796 CD Receiver along with this kit. The Crutchfield web site said they both fit my 2006 PT Cruiser. That is kind of true. It would fit if center opening in this kit was a bit wider as the radio has to sit flush with the front of the kit (before the cover piece is snapped in). This cover piece fills the two half circles (were the factory radio knows were) that stick out beyond the sides of the rectangle hole in the dash and fills the taller opening in the dash left by removing the factory radio. The side pieces needed to be trimmed down with a razor in order for the radio to fit flush. I was up until 1 AM trimming away at this kit and the sides of the radio itself until I got it to fit correctly. Someone at Crutchfield needs to address this! I see other reviews were people had this same issue. Why would you keep selling something that doesn't work! Fix it or find another kit that works. I did complain to Crutchfield.
Pros: Fits opening in PT Cruiser dash. Fills in half circles where factory radio knobs used to be.

This was the only part of my entire installation that didn't work. The side pieces needed to be trimmed down with a putty knife in order for the radio to fit. I didn't mind that too much, but the absolute worst part of the install was the front trim plate. It actually went into the dash fine- but that was without the radio! With the radio installed it clearly wouldn't work; the radio protruded too far for it to fit when I closed up the dash. The instructions were not clear at all, they looked they were copies of copies and were quite generic. So I had to try installing the radio into the receiver kit a few different ways in case I wasn't clear with the bad instructions. I did call tech support and the tech acted like I was stupid, and only told me that it had to fit. This was not my first car stereo installation. After talking to him for a while and listening to his "answers" I was only concerned with getting off the phone. Now I have the bare receiver kit in my truck with the stereo installed. I will likely make my own trim ring for it or maybe alter the cheap plastic one they included, but needless to say I am very disappointed in the fit of the radio. The receiver kit was cheaply made and it's no wonder it was included free. This will very likely be my last purchase at Crutchfield.

This was included for free. Doesn't get better than that. Absolutely essential for installing a single DIN sized stereo in my 1.5 DIN vehicle. I didn't use it for my installation because I needed to have an additional location for my EQ, but for a standard install its nice to know the Crutchfield has your back by including the items that will be needed to install your system. Especially when they give them to you free.
Pros: Its free, and Crutchfield includes this required part.
Cons: Doesn't accommodate an EQ.

2007 Jeep Commander This kit did not fit very well with the Sony MEX-BT3000P HU that I purchased. I'm aware that the original HU trim isnt supposed to be used with this install kit, but the HU still didnt fit properly. It fit fine into the install sleve, but the finishing piece of the kit with the half moons wasn't even close. I had to carefully cut away some of the support corners of the finishing trim to allow it to not only fit over the headless face of the HU, but to also fit into the main piece of the install sleeve/mounting bracket. End result, it looks great, and ended up working, but the amount i had to cut away makes the trim extremly fragil and i almost broke it many time while working on it.
Pros: Looks great when all said and done.
Cons: Be prepared to have to alter the plastic pieces.

The kit fit the car like a glove. The head unit was a very tight fit in to the side supports. It took some wiggling and stretching to get it to fit. Then the external part of the kit that filled in the space of the factory unit would not click in to place. The new unit's plastic frame, not the excunsion ring, was too wide for the trim. I had to gnaw away at some of the inside piece with a set of diagonal cutters for about 30 minutes to make it work. Once in the dash you couldn't see any of the damage and the cars dash panel will help support where the plastic had to be weakened.
Pros: Looks nice once the shoe horning and gnawing is complete. Fit in to the car perfectly
Cons: Be prepared to make free form modifications to the kit to make the unit fit.

This install kit was very straightforward and simple to install. The fit and finish when install was complete is fine and looks great. The only thing confusing for me is the side panels that attach didn't seem to allow the head unit to fit in the opening so I left them off. I suppose they would provide additional support but I really didn't see any possible way to get the sleeve and the head unit in the kit with the side panels installed. The trim panel that attached looked good, but I do wish the install instructions let people know that the trim ring that comes with your head unit is not used with this kit as I made the mistake of putting the head unit trim ring on first, and I had to take it back off.
Pros: simple to install and feels pretty solid even without the side panels.
Cons: Don't know what purpose the side panels serve as they didn't seem to fit and still allow a head unit to be installed with it's sleeve. Maybe I missed something, I don't know..

The adapter physically holds the radio and fills the voids in the dash. However, the trim doesn't fit over the radio properly so it won't snap into place on the bottom. Fortunately, it is such a tight fit into the dash that the dash holds down the trim instead.

I was concerned with putting an aftermarket stereo in because of the awkward dash panel. This kit integrates perfectly and look great. The head unit installs perfectly as well. People that gave it a bad review because the flip down head units don't work well with the kit probably didn't use the Crutchfield vehicle fit guide. It told me not to use a flip down head unit so I didn't. Couldn't be more pleased with the fit, install and appearance.

Good trim piece to take up the excess space left behind from my factory radio. New Aftermarket reciever installed easily into the kit one conn here was though that the mounting srews that came with the aftermarket reciever were to short to go through the mounting plates and into the reciever so i feel they should include a selection of screws that will work with multiple manufacturers radios. It looks real good in the dash but i would recomend painting it if possible i have a stainless trim around my reciever and the flat black does not really look real good against it.
