About the Scosche FD1380B Dash and Wiring Kit

Scosche's FD1380B kit allows you to install an aftermarket DIN-sized receiver in 2000-up Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable vehicles with the integrated factory radio/control panel. The kit replaces the panel, while maintaining the original climate controls and hardware.

The FD1380B includes the control panel, a radio/defroster harness, 18-foot Ford antenna extension cable, and 18-foot speaker extension cable. You must install the factory climate controls in the new panel. The Ford radio is merely a control unit — the amplifier and tuner are in the rear of the vehicle. You must run the included antenna and speaker cables from the new aftermarket receiver to the Ford tuner/amp unit.

What's in the box:

  • Radio housing with attached 12" harness
  • Plastic pocket
  • Trim-ring
  • 2 ISO mount brackets
  • 18' Antenna extension cable (standard male Motorola plug on one end and male Ford plug on the other end)

Features

Radio Replacement Kit & Harness: This kit replaces the factory radio/integrated control panel in select 2000 and newer Ford Taurus vehicles. The kit maintains the original rotary climate controls and hardware. Since the kit is identical to the factory panel, no cutting or filing is required. The factory radio dash panel is a control unit only, the amplifier and tuner sections are located in the rear of the vehicle. When installing an aftermarket radio, you will need to run the provided antenna extension cable and speaker extension harness from the rear tuner/amp unit to the aftermarket radio.

Note: For your specific vehicle, please verify compatibility with Auto Install Guide or Vehicle Selector.

Q
what about the rear defroster button?

A
When I bought this kit for my 2002 ford taurus it was a little confusing If I remember it was a red wire that goes to the defrost button I'm not too sure shortly after the engine blew and I got a different car
[ christopher  Feb 04, 2016 ]
A
The dash kit has a defroster button in it.
[ ROB  Jan 27, 2016 ]
A
defrost button is on new face panel. That lights up but i had a hard time finding wire to piggy back off for lights for rest of climate control.
[ BRYAN THOMAS  Jan 27, 2016 ]
A
The car has it's own wiring harness that goes to it, and the rear defroster button is already built into the Scosche unit. It simply plugs in. It doesn't light up like the original Ford unit, rather it has an LED underneath it to indicate it is on.
[ Pete G.  Jan 27, 2016 ]
A
There IS a rear defrost button on the new face plate
[ JON  Jan 27, 2016 ]
A
The rear defroster button will work with this kit
[ Dino  Jan 27, 2016 ]
A
It worked completely fine for me.
[ Justin  Jan 27, 2016 ]
A
The button is there, although hard to see.
[ CHRISTOPHER  Jan 27, 2016 ]
Q
does this include the actual knobs and electronics for the knobs? I do not see them in the picture.
[ Caleb  Oct 14, 2015 ]

A
Use the knobs that came with your car they still fit on the controls. You're only changing the face plate.
[ Roger  Oct 16, 2015 ]
A
No. You have to use the knobs from the original control panel. The internal switches are built in.
[ WILLIAM  Oct 16, 2015 ]
A
No. You remove the knobs and controls from your factory system and install them on the new dash kit. Does not take long at all to swap them out.
[ Owen  Oct 16, 2015 ]
A
It was a gift for my farther so I'm not 100% sure, and neither is he. It was professionally installed for him. Best bet I'd say is just call the 800 number and ask them. It did fit nicely though in dash and looks like it's part of the car
[ Christopher  Oct 16, 2015 ]
A
No it does not. However you reuse the electronics and knobs from your orignal radio.
