2012 FLTRX Replacement

Very nice mounting system that fits the OEM Harley Davidson radio carrier. My reason for only giving this a 4star rating and not a 5star is the once you assemble this to the new radio it will NOT slide into the OEM carrier ... you MUST remove the OEM carrier mount from the inner fairing and slide the assembly in from the top and then reattach the carrier to the inner fairing, this is necessary due to the face plate being 1" wider than the OEM carrier. This step can be somewhat difficult doing it by yourself, but with help is not so bad. This application is for a FLTRX and not sure if this step is necessary for an FLHT platform vehicle.

Nice kit, easy install, directions were a little off for my street glide but I figured it out pretty quickly.

Kit works great the finish could be better but that's just how Scosche makes the Metra is a nicer kit.

Dash Kit does not fit well

Dash kit is not a very good fit. There is an air gap between the dash kit and the fairing and the supplied weather stripping is not thick enough to close the gap. Only 3 of the 4 mounting holes lined up with the stock fairing mounts and even that took some manipulating to get the fasteners started. There is also no provision for securing the stock CB adapter to the radio or mounts.

Pain to install

This kit is a absolute pain to use. I had to modify the kit by heating a screwdriver to soften the holes the radio screws themselves go through. It does not come with screws to mount the radio so you have to use the ones that come with the radio and they are countersunk and the kit plastic is as thick as the screws. The kit does work with patience and willingness to modify it. Really the worst part about the kit is that you can not put the faceplate for the radio on with the radio mounted in the kit. So mount the radio completely before installing in the motorcycle. If it wasn't such a pain to remove i would have sent it back but as I got it installed I wont be removing it for an exchange.

The kits iso mount brackets are not tapered. Kits says to use aftermarket stereo's iso mount screws they are too short.

Mounts to radio fine, the side mounts need to be longer or have a ajustment so the front of the radio will flush up with the front of fairing. Set's back about half inch. I'm having some one fabricate bracket's to bring the face out flush with the fairing

Did an install on my 07 Street Glide. It was a simple install and using it with the handlebar control unit (Available Seperately) it can make your unit controlable with the factory Harley controls. Slick set-up!
